Porky's BBQ in Northumberland

Food here is so tasty and reasonably priced. I feel there are some improvements that could be made to increase the atmosphere, but I do like the addition of greenery inside the restaurant.

It's definitely worth a trip from Newcastle. Anything with meat is a fair shout, chicken especially. Make sure to take advantage of the "pig out menu." Frozen pint glasses are the cherry on the top. Once they ran out of them and it has ruined my week... please don't do that again. Thanks.

So we’re killing time driving around the NE coast into Blyth and come across Porky’s BBQ next to the Fat Butcher. Had to stop. First off, the place deffo has a US vibe if a little all over the place. Secondly it’s 3 degrees C outside and maybe 5 inside except for a roaring wood fire by the front door giving the atmosphere a smokey tinge. The young friendly servers were very eager to please and were very careful about my partner’s gluten intolerance. We had a glass of ‘coke’ (not sure what it was) and one of their Dr Pepper dupes, both were flat but we didn’t complain. We never quite understand why BBQ brisket is served ‘pulled’ rather than sliced in the UK? We think it’s because it’s much leaner. No pickles or onion ‘fixins’ is served either, but that’s OK. Our expectations were pretty low but the pulled pork was well-seasoned and wasn’t drowned in the usual sickly-sweet BBQ sauce. Rather good except for the almost complete absence of smoke. The jalapeño/manchego sausage was frankly quite badly overcooked and nary a green fleck of green chilli in sight, nor cheese which had melted out. It tasted like the sausages from a Tesco hot food bar which had sat out all day. You can see from the picture. However, the slaw was good and mustardy, the smash burger charred, well-constructed and quite satisfying. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. All in all, apart from the weird, long banger passing itself off as sausage, we had a satisfying BBQ meal a long way from our Texas home. The staff were lovely, the food much better than expected and very reasonable; a huge portion of meat. We would go again if in the area ever again, but it did make us miss our favourite TX sites!

Ordered Philly cheese burger and fries, was absolutely beautiful. The waitress was lovely and polite, and the restaurant was very clean and tidy. The seating arrangements tables, seats and layout is perfect thanks very much for a nice evening! 💗👍🏼😁 My only regret is I did not taking any photos but I'll make sure I do on my next visit!

Arrived early but was seated quickly, drinks served quickly as was the starters, bit of a long pause between starter and main course but not a big deal, the food was top class very tasty and plenty of it. The only thing that stood out was the decor was worn, and tired looking plus the parking was not good, that aside a very enjoyable experience we shall go back

Usually have Sunday lunch which is excellent but took friends during the week and we ordered burgers and Ribs. All delicious and everyone really enjoyed food asking when we will be coming back.

Terrible service won't be back first walked in was fine as usual then they started the fire that they couldn't start filled the place up with smoke couldn't even smell the food staff rushed my eyes are burning clothes stinking and not even a offer of discount and then to look back to see the waitress having a pint and food as well as the chef 16.40 12dec

Have to agree with the other reviews, relaxed and friendly place with good fresh food. Staff all very pleasant and catered to us very well.

We had a Friday afternoon lunch here. We had two delicious shakes along with the Royale bacon burger and Chicken Pork Stack, both yummy. The server Sade was polite and friendly. We'll be back!

Really enjoyed eating here. Staff were efficient and friendly, with a great atmosphere. The menu is extensive, which makes me nervous as when a place tries to do a lot of variety quality can suffer. But I did not find this to be the case, within our party we had steak, mac and cheese, pizza and burgers. All were great and very reasonably priced. The bar was really well stacked for a variety of beer and cocktails. Will certainly be revisiting.

The service was really fast and friendly, the atmosphere and decor was pretty good too! The food looked delicious and the portion sizes were pretty big, however it didn't taste as nice as it looked! It was decent but didn't blow me or my family away and the coke was a bit flat! Worth a try but I'd personally not go back!

Pop in and order had to sat for over 45 mins for a pick up 3 Sunday dinners with all meat. £67 CAME TO.. well for that price it was expensive and food as not that good. Staff seem friendly and atmosphere was nice but will not be going back for sunday .

9/10 very good food, great customer service and lovely atmosphere! When we arrived it was very busy and we hadn’t booked in advance - despite that we were advised that a table would be free soon and there was seating for those waiting to be seated. Porkys was very busy but when we were seated in about 5 minutes we could talk and hear each other easily despite music and background noise. There was a long wait for the food to arrive but it was easily worth the wait. We got the meat platter with 8oz steak, flattened chicken breast and two types of pulled brisket. The steak was very good, the chicken was amazing and we enjoyed the BBQ brisket but our personal preference - we didn’t like the pork pulled brisket but it tasted nice. Lastly, we got the chicken wings and while I liked them my partner didn’t and the sauces we got (Jerk BBQ and Hot sauce) were underwhelming. Overall, very good and we are definitely coming back to try more. The customer service was really good - whenever we flagged someone down they stopped to help and were quick to fix slight miscommunications.

My 'Porky's Smash Burger' was very tasty and messy! Plenty of thick cheese sauce pouring out. The beef patties weren't very flavourful but the pulled brisket and pulled pork were delicious. My girlfriends buffalo chicken burger was really spicy but she liked it. The slaw was very nice but was a bit sparce. Luckily I was able to have my girlfriends portion too! I asked for magic dusted fries but I'm pretty sure they were just the normal ones because my girlfriends were the same. They were fresh and well salted though. Definitely a place I'd visit again due to the extensive menu and decent pricing.

I was looking forward to this all week after 7 days at work, hoping for a Sunday dinner after work. We called the night before to book a table for 7pm, nice lady on the phone says yep thats all booked in for you. Google says the place is open until 9:30pm, and their website says 8pm on a Sunday so either way, it should have been fine. Get there today to be greeted by the manager scoffing at us "you booked for 7? We close at 7! I am not joking! The person who booked you in must have been drunk!" he begrudgingly sat us down and was pointing at us to the staff but we just left, felt so unwelcome and really ruined what was supposed to be a nice evening. If he wanted an early finish he could have at least called us and cancelled in advance. The food is always good, the sunday dinners are lovely but I don't think we will be back to this restaurant until it changes manager, this is not the first time he has made us feel unwelcome as soon as we walk in the door. Food at the Fish Quay branch is slightly lower quality but you are actually made to feel welcome by the staff.

Vastly disappointed in porkys! We had driven 50 minuets with rumbling belly’s, excited to eat a Sunday dinner! We called just an hour before to check that a Sunday dinner would still be available. Upon arrival, the waiter (assuming the manager) was greatly unprofessional! After this we were told that Sunday dinners are not available! This caused huge upset to me and my family! Why lie and say that Sunday dinners are available when they simply are not?!? Wouldn’t recommend! Lying is not good! Telling the truth is free!

Always made to feel very unwelcome by the manager who was working tonight, anytime we ring to book it seems a chore, tonight we arrived after booking yesterday, to be told "really? You booked? But we close at 7" despite website saying otherwise and having our booking taken the previous day, he then continued to say the staff member who took our booking most have been drunk. Honestly, it's really uninviting for the man who appears to be running the place and very unprofessional to both question the credibility of the customer and to say his own staff must have been drunk. It's such a shame as the food here is so good

Come here quite often and can't usually fault the place. Today it looks like the chef took a poop on my plate. Gutted as I love the vibe and the place in general.

I had the big blue with onion rings as a side the onion rings were very greasy and the big blue wasn’t very cheesy in its taste and to much caramelised onion it took three members of staff to serve me that while I listened to the “ chefs” swearing there heads off also it’s far too dark especially the entrance.

Having seen great reviews on Tripadvisor decided to check out Porky's The food was delicous. Some of the best wings I have ever had. Service was friendly and helpful. Country music isn't my thing but it was fine.

Visited on a warm very buisy evening. American diners are not usually my thing but loved this place! I had the pulled brisket with corn, slaw and chips, which was a huge portion, but I persevered and finished it. My companion had a pizza and chips and said it was the best she had had. Service was good but very slow and things were forgotten but it didnt detract from the experience. Would definitely return if I was in Blyth again.

Been meaning to leave a review for a few weeks now, finally getting round to it. We were visiting family over this way and we came here for a meal and all I can say is WOW. The service was quick and to the point and spot on, the food came out without hardly any waiting time. Quite easily one of the best burgers I have ever had, without a doubt. For the 6 of us, when the bill came I was pleasantly surprised with it for the quality of food for me and my fellow diners. When we visit them again we will definitely be back, or even if not I will be making this trip as the journey from Harrogate will be worth it. If you're in the area, you are lucky sods having this so close by :) Thanks again everyone!

Dyers dined out! Said plenty times before we would try and never got round to it. And now we have …… Absolutely bloody fantastic, makes you feel like you’re in America, food is outstanding and cooked to the highest of standards. We had the TomaPork, so juicy and tender, rind done to perfection to and naturally me being me if it’s a well cooked meat on the bone I have to get every last bit of it off with my razor teeth… Staff are lovely and you can see they all work well together and have respect for each other, 1000% out of this world the whole experience, we will definitely be back Thanks you Porkys

This is the first time visiting Porkys today, what a great venue. It has a real American cowboy feel. The service was great everyone polite and friendly. The food was amazing the BBQ Pulled pork melted in my mouth it came with a side of sweet potatoes fries which were crispy and soft in the middle 😍. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend 👌

A bit of American grill experience. A break from a healthy diet.

So disappointed today to learn the child portions of Sunday lunch weren’t available so the price had gone up from £6.95 to £10.95 it’s quite a big jump for people on a budget. On saying this to the manager he was quite rude and said they were a waste of time as everyone was ordering them . Seems to me and my company if everyone was ordering them it would of made more sense just to increase them by a pound not £4

My Son and I decided to try this place for dinner on Sunday evening and enjoy the food and atmosphere. We ate burgers and fries then shared a waffle with ice cream and cookie dough bits topped off with nutella.

So - Me and My mate Dave gave Porky's ago. What a treat. Sun was shining, Ice cold beer. Food was great, at a good price. Had the 12hr cooked Brisket. Very nice indeed. Defo worth a look in.

Fabulous, family-friendly feast. Excellent food and service. The value for money was outstanding. We went during half term and the kids ate free, including 12 inch wood fired pizzas, not the 6 inch frozen pizzas you get in some places. The young lad serving even replaced the chips our three year old dropped. Highly recommended.

Fantastic find we were looking for some lunch and found this place on Google maps. Great American dinner all food cooked onside and meat from butchers next door. We had wings starter and choice of smoked or southern fried and choices of sauce and heat levels. We had 2 and 1 of each type of wings and 2 different sauces was amazing. Great choice of food from burgers to ribs and dogs. We had the Porkies double c burgers which had beef patties, southern fried chicken breast and bbq pulled pork with homemade fries and slaw and as amazing. Cost fir 2 drinks, 2 wings and 2 mains wax £54. Great value would definitely recommend a visiting

Disneyland for carnivores. King of Stacks this time, accompanied by massive onion rings. Peanut butter milkshake afterwards. All of it delicious and made with the best ingredients.

Fabulous experience! Especially for meat lovers. 🍖 butchers next door and liquor store. Ventured up from Lincoln for a week and stopped here on a whim. Definitely not your usual diner but it was good. Staff are lovely, decorated fabulously, homemade brews were great and the food was amazing. Definitely come back if we're up this way again! The kids (older) loved it!!

Having been nearly a year ago and witnessed OK service but good food, and given that I read a couple of negative reviews I was a bit apprehensive about visiting. However I am so glad that I went with my gut instinct and visited Porky's! Turned up on a Thursday without a booking and we were shown to a 6 seater booth (we were a group of two adults and two children). I opted for the Meat Showcase meal, which at £22 is very good value for money considering the amount of meat that you get. My partner and one of the kids opted for the £9 menu, which allows for drink, main meal and a side, which is a bargain. My other child ordered chicken nuggets and chips from the children's menu. My partner ordered a side of mac and cheese with her meal but when it arrived, it had fries. We pointed this out to the waitress who not only corrected the issue straight away but also let us keep the fries at no extra charge, which I thought was very good customer service. The meat selection meal was very nice. The steak that came with it was nicely cut already and I found it was not too chewy to eat, which can often be an issue with steak, especially the rump cut. Portion sizes were massive; my partner ordered the flattened battered chicken and it was huge and my son ordered the double burger well done, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We were asked how our meals were a few times whilst eating, which I did not mind at all. Everything on this occasion was spot on and the service from several members of the Porky's team was very efficient and friendly! Will be back when I feel I am able to demolish another meat selection meal! Thanks for a very nice meal.

Amazing food, had been wanting to try this place for a while based on friends experiences and their social media photos and we were not disappointed, we got an OG platter to share and bbq pulled pork loaded fries with corn on the cob, absolutely delicious, already planning our next visit and this time we are bringing friends 👍

We ate as a family of 4. Upon arrival no one asked us for drinks. After 20 min we asked to make our order for food and our first drinks. Staff were just talking with each other which is fine if we were taking care of. It was not a normal restaurant experience in the slightest. No one asked us for more drinks, condiments ect or if the food was okay. The kids meals were great but apart from that it was extremely poor.

I've been looking forward to a visit here and it did not dissapoint, so tasty, I'll be visiting again

£3.50 for what is asda cola this is the second visit thi year and the non alcoholic drinks are not coke or pepsi as advertised on the menu, also the bottled pints of home made blue lemonade tasted foisty and wrong , mains were decent service was poor its a shame as this never used to be the case here

Visit here quite regularly and the food is always good. We had a Sunday roast which was beautiful. The pork was cooked perfectly and a healthy which kept us full all day.

I recently visited porkys with a group of 13 people and the food was lovely and I will definitely be going back, the atmosphere was good , staff were friendly and helpful, food and drink are responsible priced and definitely value for money. The restaurant is very themed and quirky , it was a very cold night and they were trying desperately to keep the place warm which I don't think many restaurants do, food came within about 20 minutes if that ,which was great especially for the young children we had with us , meals all came together which was really good service especially as there was 13 of us , everyone enjoyed there meal and commented how nice it was , kids enjoyed themselves too so all around a brilliant meal on a very cold winter night . If your a vegetarian and like burgers, this is definitely the place to go , I normally don't rate veggie burgers but this has to be one the best I ever had . They are also on just eat which tonight I have also tried, just so I could get my new favourite burger fix , delivery was fast and on time , prices are still really good , food was just as nice as it was in the restaurant, was also still very hot and the delivery person came with a smile 😁 ! Definitely my go to place now for a veggie burger now !!! Sorry fat hippo ! Thank you to the chef/kitchen or who ever read my note about the sauce, I was very happy and shocked to see a full tub of it had been included in with my order ( it can be our little secret 😂) it made my food even more delicious. Let's hope it is added to your side menu on just eat for future orders 🙏.

I won’t order from here, it’s my fiancées and mines first anniversary together, exactly 1 year ago today we met, so I thought this sounds like an amazing takeaway, I simply phoned up, as I couldn’t order yet, fiancée doesn’t finish work til 8pm as she’s a carer, so I simply asked in a nice toned voice “ I can’t order til after 8pm but do you do takeaways to Choppington area and can I order food without pepper, mustard & paprika” as since her cancer, my fiancée is allergic to them” he had a very harsh, nasty attitude, nothing like when I went to Raphaelo’s at Guidepost who treat me like a prince, who catered to all our needs and just had the best customer service and greatest attitude Iv ever witnessed at a restaurant, being called Mr Steven followed by surname” this place was the opposite, he was harsh, nasty, loud, and said in very harsh tone just go to Justeat, I only asked 2 questions, I’d stay clear with an attitude like that, it tells me they get frustrated very very easily and are not used to actual customer service and basically only rely on JustEat whatever happened to great customer service in Northumberland, stick with Raphaelo’s at guidepost they are the best by far

We were the only ones there so service was quick! Went midweek for drink, burger and side for £12, not bad but chicken burger was a bit dry. Bacon royale burger was delicious, so were "dust" fries

We ordered food to be delivered via uber eats, the food that arrived was good, pretty mediocre, however the pulled pork was lovely. Some of our sides didn't arrive, so we called the restaurant to be told they won't be delivering them as there wasn't any drivers and if we remembered to ask to speak to the manager next time to get free sides....the manager had no intentions of sorting our missing food on the night it actually happened. I'd not recommend ordering from here.

Great BBQ food and meat. I had the Mac and cheese pulled pork and there was plenty without any sides! I did have the loaded potato skins as a side and would 100% recommend. My friend has a wrap and it was huge, definitely not your average wrap! Only down side was after our plates were taken noone came to us with a pudding menu or to ask if we wanted anything else so we ended up just asking for the bill and leaving so cannot comment on puds.
