Adam And Eve in Northumberland

This place was recommended to us by a few people on Facebook so decided to give it a go. It was quiet for a Saturday afternoon which suited us fine. The two gentlemen on duty were brilliant- attentive without being overbearing. The menu is small but honestly that worked so well for us- my husband having ADHD can get overwhelmed with choices and FOMO so having a limited selection was perfect. I wasn't hungry enough for a starter, he ordered the pork belly bites and the server asked if we'd like them to come with the main which was really appreciated. Husband went for the flat iron steak and I chose the bone marrow beef burger. The food came quickly and was presented beautifully. The pork belly bites were melt-in-the-mouth delicious, so tender and flavourful. Husband's steak was cooked to chef's recommendation (he likes it blue and this was rare) and was perfectly cooked. The burger was a triumph- the bone marrow giving it a rich, sumptuous flavour; accompanied with strong melted cheddar, tomato, baby gem lettuce and pickles it was stunning. My only wish was that it had fresh onion too but I realise lots don't like onion! I was driving so stuck to Fentimans- husband had a craft beer and a cocktail (a reasonable £9) that looked to be their own creation. Atmosphere was lovely and chilled- early 90s pop playing at a perfect volume (loud enough to hear it, not so loud to be distracting!) They even turned the heater down when we asked as it was blasting on us. Would definitely recommend and revisit!

Visited last night very nice bistro and great staff. Only downside is the size of the portions for the price paid. Myself and party all said we were still hungry when went to the next bar. This is the only downside and seems to be a common theme

Absolutely loved our meal here (ordered Berwick Edge fritters, venison, duck and sticky toffee pudding). We both agreed it was the best meal out we had had in ages, and there is good competition for that statement! Thank you for a lovely evening out.

Four of us went for Sunday lunch on the 9th March 2025 .We enjoyed the food very much and all of us had different choices ,which were all was delicious . the staff were very good and a nice selection of drinks . would recommend this for Sunday lunch

My husband and I were visiting from the south and wanted to try some of the local cuisine. We absolutely loved this place. We are both pretty picky with atmosphere and food and this place was absolutely spot on. I absolutely love a seasonal menu, when there is a one page menu detaillibg the season, it's going to be really delicious local food that is in season and fresh, and it was. Music was great, good vibes and a decent volume, I could hear my husband, but not the next table or plate noises. Seating layout was excellent, we weren't sat basically on top of people like a lot of people who are trying to cram too many covers in one night. The decor is lovely, plants and fairy lights everywhere. We especially love the touch of having the local farms used on display! We both had mocktails, which were far more than your average no-jito, thought had gone into the portion vs sweetness, allowing us to enjoy our drinks without them becoming over powering for our meals. The food was sublime, pork belly bites and enoki mushroom to start. Which actually worked as a starter should, got us excited for the next course, the flavours were amazing. The varying textures and flavours within the mushroom dish were complementary and interesting. Next, the bone marrow burger and artichoke risotto. Burger was succulent, rich and the perfect portion size. Risotto was amazing, people forget this is an easy dish to ruin. The flavours, again, interesting and worked so well together, the consistency was great, and a decent portion size too. It was really nice to go out as a vegan and get something that isn't imitation meat, and has had some real work and skill go into it. The only thing that I would have changed - which I know we could have if we had called in advance, no vegan dessert available. This seems like the kind of place that absolutely would have had one ready should we have not booked last minute and said nothing about one of us actually being vegan. I'm not even sorry about how long this review is, it was so good - and I cannot stress how hard we are to please. They definitely know what they are doing here and this place should not be missed! Hoping to grab lunch before we depart!

17.5% increase to the bill if there are 9 of you or more. So bringing more people and increasing the spend per head warrants a surcharge?? Just outright greedy. No matter how good the food is this greed would ruin my appetite. Look elsewhere.

Berwick Edge Fritters were amazing….

What a superb dining experience. Warm welcome on arrival, plenty of time to peruse the menu then order placed and the anticipation rises as we await our starters .... Beef Raviolo plus Pork Belly Bites , absolutely delicious and set a high bar for our mains. The Seared Venison and Stuffed Porchetta plus sides were off the scale , the finest ingredients cooked to perfection. Despite being pretty full we did order deserts of Sticky Toffee Pudding and Toffee apple semifredo ... yum yum. Excellent food , relaxed atmosphere and modern decor and great service plus special mention to the Chef & kitchen staff who absolutely nailed it. It's a shame we live 3hrs away..... No hesitation in recommending the Adam & Eve.

We were a birthday party table of 11, and Elliot went out of his way to ensure all dietary requirements were met. He also took care of a birthday cake we brought to ensure our birthday guest was "surprised" in style. In short, he looked after us brilliantly, along with his team. My food was also delicious. Something of a tale of two halves. The food is excellent, and I assume the chef will move on to somewhere else at some point soon as she or he has outgrown this place. The dining area has some good places to eat, and some bad ones. Unfortunately, we were seated in the worst spot, with the back of the lady to my right literally two inches from my seat and the toilet just in front. I’ve owned restaurants, and I really wouldn’t have had the balls to sit my customers there. The menu has the now usual ‘for the table’ section, so we ordered a couple of canapé type arrangements to have with a cocktail. Unfortunately, this seemed too much of a challenge to the waitress, who brought them with the starters and the wine and the cocktails in one jumbo move. Hey ho. It was all much too rushed to order any more wine, and the main courses came within seconds of the starters being cleared, so I guess we took too long eating - but you would, as everything came all at once. Obviously no room for dessert after that, and having watched the entire restaurant using the loo by that point, it seemed opportune to leave. The next day, an email from the restaurant arrived asking for feedback, so I replied with the points above. Nobody acknowledged it, so I thought I’d be helpful and leave it here as well, as the email was presumably lost. Small update in response to the comments below - we were not sat in a booth, as you’ll doubtless be able to find out through your records. We were sat to the right of the second booth along, on a small table with two other small round tables to our right which had been pushed together to accommodate a party of six, but you’ll know that. I re-read my initial email to your request for feedback, and I’m surprised that you reached the conclusions you did. It was somewhat disappointing to read your response, but you’re not going to gild a turd on my account.

Rubbish food, over priced and wine was day light robbery at £36. Frozen chips, not skin on fries and £29 ribeye which comes with a tiny bit of broccoli, you have to pay extra if you want a potato or a decent amount of veg. Add in the £10 service charge for the 2 of us and think it's the worst restaurant we've ever been to. Avoid at all costs. I hate being ripped off.

Outstanding food, delicious drinks and friendly efficient service - highly recommended. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Husband had a steak which was probably the best he’s ever eaten (he’s a butcher and eats a lot of steaks!) and I had a veggie main which was delicious too. Desserts were also so good!

We went here today for a meal at lunchtime. Firstly, the service was effortless and first class. The restaurant was lovely and warm given it was freezing outside, giving it a lovely atmosphere. The food…get the nibbles of pork belly, they are sooo good, and the cauliflower soup (which I wouldn’t normally pick) was amazing. My main of chicken pie was really good as well. After a pint and a half of Aspall Cider and a belly full of food, we left, but we will be back!

Great food,wholesome and home made, cheers chefs. Great atmosphere with Christmas music not being intrusive. Made to feel very welcome by all staff and particularly our young lady Rhianna, who was most attentive throughout the meal, providing drinks and coffee “made with love” throughout. Six of us, including two children, left Adam and Eves satisfied with full stomachs. A great, family Sunday lunch.

The beginning was promising with a warm welcome, however, the food was disappointing and several drinks were unavailable. Additionally, the hot drinks were not served at an appropriate temperature. Despite these shortcomings, there is potential for improvement.

We came across this restaurant by chance late Sunday afternoon, so it was quiet. Little did we know that they close at 4pm. We opted for the Sunday roast which was delicious. Highly recommend. We didn't have dessert because we were full but it was offered as was coffee. A lovely calm atmosphere and wasn't aware they were closed until we were leaving.

Good quality food cooked to perfection. Manager and staff very friendly and helpful. Service was excellent.

I'm extremely excited for the new menu. Breaded Alaskin pollock, Cannellini beans in a tomatoe reduction complimented with generous helping of the british classic, deep fried potatoe chips. Don't forget to tip the chefs, they put an unprecedented amount of love and care into every dish.

What an amazing place! I don't say this lightly, everything we had was absolutely delicious. Not "good" or "yummy", delicious. The atmosphere is chic yet comfy, and the service was very professional and kind. We ordered some mocktails and really liked them. For food we had a spiced venison with sherry jus, chicken pie with mushrooms, and wow! They were both incredible. The quince and apple crumble for dessert is also wonderful. Overall, it was my best dining experience recently, please dont hesitate to go.

We had a fantastic meal. There was a good range of vegetarian options, and the dishes were imaginative and delicious with real depth of flavour. We appreciated the kids' menu. The service was friendly and attentive. Recommended.

I had the fritters, lemon sole and berry parfait with mocktails. All were super delicious. The other diners with me enjoyed their food as well.

Came here about a year ago and it was phenomenal then. Like a good cheese or a fine wine this place has only got better with age (if that was even possible!). Our most recent visit tonight certainly didn't disappoint. Delicious, well thought through dishes cooked to perfection.

This was my first time dining here tonight with my family, and I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience… except for one unfortunate incident. A table next to us was being incredibly rude to the staff, raising their voices and making the atmosphere uncomfortable for everyone around them. It was disheartening to witness. I’m sharing this because I think it’s important for people to understand that kindness costs nothing. There are many ways to express dissatisfaction without being unkind. If you didn’t like your burger, address the issue before eating most of it, and do so with respect. We’re fortunate to be able to dine out and have our meals prepared and served for us. The staff were working extremely hard, especially on what was clearly a busy night. Working in hospitality can be stressful and challenging, and the team was doing their absolute best to take care of everyone. That said, a huge THANK YOU to the lovely front-of-house staff for their great service and to the kitchen for an amazing meal. We will definitely be back soon!

It was a lovely meal - lots of vegan options too. Centrally located. Friendly efficient wait staff. We took advantage of their lunch deal. 2 or 3 courses, £16 or £23. More than enough food. Outstanding choices ? The starters, the Pork Belly Bites out favorite - just outstanding and one order feeds 2 easily!. Flavorful and spicy, cooked to perfection. The apea & Mint soup was also a hit. We ordered flat iron steak, chicken and vegan burger dishes. They were perfect and the crispy fries that came with were absolutely to die for. Then the desserts to follow were the perfect way to end an outstanding meal. I loved the chocolate mousse and it took care of my chocolate fix.

My wife and I dined here just over a week ago. It was a booked table and on arrival we were informed that they were a staff member down so the service may be slow. While I appreciate this to an extent it didn't excuse the fact that no one took a drinks order from us for around half an hour. We only ordered bread and olives to start but this too took a long time to arrive. The olives were fine but the bread was stale and we could tell that it had been microwaved to warm it so we sent that back. While my main was fine, my wife had ordered the burger but requested vegan cheese due to an allergy. It looked and tasted like normal cheese so we queried it with staff who assured us it was vegan but my wife was quite unwell following the meal so suspect they weren't being honest. Thankfully she doesn't have a more severe allergy. It's a shame because it obviously has potential, it's a lovely setting and menu but the poor service and frankly shocking issues with the food let it down badly.

Had a great Sunday roast, great value for the money and portion's are generous. Friendly staff and attentive. The apple and quince crumble is a must.

Just popped in for a couple of drinks. The staff were friendly, helpful, knew how to rustle up an off-menu cocktail and were lovely to our dog.

Lovely restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and ambience. Myself and partner make the 100 mile round trip to come here for the Sunday dinners when we fancy a really nice quality meal.

Only open Wednesday to Sunday but really liked the place with friendly staff and ok price's.

The food was all hot fresh and delicious and our waiter was an absolute star.....such a friendly lovely person.

Last minute decision and luckily there was one table left for dinner. It is a nicely designed casual restaurant with a rustic feel, wooden floors, industrial lighting and exposed trunking. The food was really good and there was a nice atmosphere. The service was a little slow at times, but it was pretty busy. Nice menu, good variety and probably £50 a head with 3 courses & a drink.

Pork belly bites were amazing The muscles and steak were incredible Best espresso martini we have ever had And the deserts were magnificent Worth every penny definitely recommend

Just didn’t get any service, wobbly table fixed for us to leave, table awash with water all night, had to go to the bar to ask to move away from air con. Wellington, couldn’t taste any leek- more like a mushroom pasty. Cauliflower starter , expensive for some stalk- we’ve been twice before but I’d put this as ‘not great’. We’ll try again I’m sure

Booked a meal here for 7 of us for our last night in Northumberland and were very happy with our choice. The food was really delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. A few of us had the duck as previous reviews recommended it and we were not disappointed it was lovely. Service was attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Would recommend to anyone visiting Alnwick or staying nearby. Book in advance!

The best Sunday roast and Really friendly staff. We’re not local but had been to visit the castle, so glad we came here for a Sunday roast, it didn’t disappoint, probably the roast we’ve had. Would come back again next time we’re in the area.

Amazing gluten free options! Phenomenal presentation and the best meal of our holidays! Had some pork belly bites, the duck (unreal!!) and had glazed strawberries for dessert. Yum!! Oh and The cocktail that I can only explain as a mix between a pina colada and mojito was so nice! Gutted they ran out of coconut water so I couldn’t have more than 1…

We had some oyster, 3 starter, and 2 main courses. Everything was really good, the waiter and the floor manager were super nice, answer literally every single question we asked (and we asked loads because we are chefs too). The atmosphere was lovely, quite romantic too. Me and my boyfriend had our anniversary dinner there and honestly was amazing.

This is the best place in Alnwick for a relaxing drink in a sheltered sunny garden area, especially if you enjoy delicious cocktails!

The vegan meal was fabulous. My husband is vegan and he said it was the best he’s had for a long time. We regularly go to Newcastle and never find anything as nice. Maybe one more vegan or veg option would be nice instead of the burger. We will definitely be back , I enjoyed the tasting menu a few weeks ago too. Thanks for a fabulous evening

Had a meal early 5pm, when meals are available, drinks from 4pm. Good food served by friendly helpful staff. Second visit this week, both times enjoyable.

Wow, what a perfect Sunday lunch, Staff are very attentive and pleasant yet not intrusive, my pork belly was a good size and absolutely delicious, my wife had the beef which can be a gamble as she's fussy about "chewie bits" but she was delighted with it and polished the lot, even Islay got a really good dog chew to join the party, heavenly recommend and I'd also say under priced.

We stumbled upon this place on holiday last year and it didn’t disappoint on our return this year. Sunday lunch was absolutely lovely, and a lovely, relaxed vibe. Would highly recommend and we will be back!

Everything came with a bucket of salt- lamb was nothing like described on the menu, no purple sprouting broccoli appeared, small portions- the burger was like Rustlers cheap and nasty tasting, we hadn't eaten all day in anticipation of a great meal but we're bitterly disappointed- would not recommend.

We visit Alnwick frequently and Adam and Eve is always a must go place for dinner and Sunday lunch. Hopefully it will become the must go for you!

Trout starter was gorgeous. Husband had the mushroom Wellington and I had the moules. Both were very tasty!

Excellent Sunday lunch. Really good value for money,two course lunch. Well cooked food,served piping hot by very warm and friendly staff. No hesitation in recommending Adam and Eve and I would say booking is advisable.

Friday evening and the place was buzzing. Definitely advise to book in advance. Small bar area for cocktails/drinks etc. Stylish decor and lighting but nothing too fussy. Service with a smile, which can be so rare these days! We had a couple of nibbles then main course: Confit duck leg, Hake, Truffle Parmesan fries 😋 and heritage carrots. All very good. I had chocolate delice for dessert which was very good; a very firm ganache rather than a delice I would say. We spent £130 (not incl. service) for two of us but that also included two excellent cocktails and a couple of glasses of wine. Would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. 👍🏼😀

Great service. Lovely environment. Patchy food. Starter (smoked trout) was excellent. Main mushroom Wellington was quite good. Mussels were poor. Starter size portion, with far more cream than you would expect, chips were served in a small mug (about 10 chips). Bread was dry, even after replacement. It's okay, but not worth the money, and quality is inconsistent.

Went for Mother’s Day after just having a look on Google maps for some options in Alnwick. Really impressed overall with a couple of standout features: 2 vegetarians in our group of 4; the veggie Sunday roast was one of the best we’ve had, the wellington amazing - nice work to the kitchen team. Also a note: first place I’ve seen lucky saint on tap, definitely a huge positive considering the usual poor low alcohol offerings in bars, it’s appreciated especially as a lot of people are just visiting Alnwick and driving back to wherever. Wait staff attentive and friendly, decor and ambience pretty cool also. Would recommend

Took my partner here for her birthday and thankfully was not disappointed. The young girl serving was very good, pleasant and efficient considering how busy she was. My beetroot starter was lovely, visually very appealing. My partner had croquettes and although tasty she thought the sauce inside was a bit too thick. For mains I had the butternut squash and mushroom Wellington with Truffle mash and kale, my partner had the braised beef shin with charred onions, potato gratin and and burnt bone marrow crumb. The Truffle mash was absolutely gorgeous, loads of Truffle running through, the pastry on the Wellington was fab and the filling was tasty. The kale was a nice accompaniment. The beef shin just fell apart it was so tender and tasty, the gratin was lovely and the crumb gave it a nice texture. We also had a side of heritage carrots which were very tasty. There was a nice atmosphere and the surroundings are modern and relaxed. All in all we both had a great meal and my partner enjoyed her birthday.
