A lovely little bakery. Good selection of breads and cakes. Rolls are between 50p and 70p. Sunflower, sesame, multiseed, cheese, plain, olive and herb flavours. They also do filled rolls/baguettes. Seating outside and inside. Not open on Sundays. You can pay on card, no payment minimum.

Great place to go for a cuppa and cake, though I had a delicious scone with strawberry jam. Lovely staff and I have got to say no one has ever warmed my cup before I poured my tea. An absolute gem of a place. Definitely returning to savour more of their delights

Best bakery in Eastbourne and the sourdough bread is possibly the best in the UK. Award winning we understand. They have a small range of cakes and pies etc but they are all exceptional. As their shops are within a short distance we are normally buying bread and cakes every couple of days.

I am so disappointed and after looking at my receipt, upset with the Poppy seed Bakery in Eastbourne. I went in for a Latte and Vegetable slice for my breakfast. I saw prices of £2.35 for the Latte and £1.85 for the Vegetable Slice. Originally I was going to take away and I had a paper cup and paper bag for the Slice. I then decided to sit at a seat as it was not busy with people sitting down. On paying my bill they had not just added VAT, they charged me £2.80 for the Latte and a whopping £3.05 for the Vegetable Slice,. My bill was £5.85 and I didn't even dirty a plate. I actually even cleared my own things and put them in the bin. When I queried my bill, I was told, 'as soon as you sit down, that is what we charge'. I mean come on, get a grip, it's Eastbourne, near the train station. Not somewhere really upmarket. It just wasn't worth it. I am pretty upset about it, and I will not be going to any of their shops again.

The staff are incredibly snarky and rude in here. They are also an ablest establishment. I have religious bought sour dough loafs from this place and repeatedly I have been scammed but them on the ordering service, they force you to order in advance in order to have a sliced and they will take down your phone number to “remind you” if it is not picked up, now I used to pay in advance but on a few occasions (since I have really bad ADHD and struggle with remembering things) they have not informed me of this forgotten loaf and instead sold it of to another customer. After this, I refused to pay in advance any longer since they had about £9 out of me. So instead I decided to order the loaf and pay when I picked up and that’s been going fine, I’ve often forgotten about the loaf but eventually remembered and the same loaf from days past (which you can tell is the original loaf as it has the date sticker on it) and have been fine with picking up an old loaf, even when offered a new one I decline out of respect for the business. When I went in today after having forgotten to pick up three days ago, it was the same loaf, and I paid for it, then I was informed by a rude old lady that I would no longer be able to pay when picking up and would have to pay while ordering since I had apparently not picked up a few loafs which they had to throw away, and this was news to my, since the only loaf ever “thrown away” to my knowledge were the one bought in advance, so I asked for documentation with when and how many were thrown away, because I simply don’t believe this claim, they were not able to provide any proof. So since I had been scammed so many time by paying fist and since they know I’m neurdivergent and really really struggle to remember to pick it up until after the day, and we’ve already been over in store that I’m happy to have the original loaf and if it’s sat around a couple days to give me a quick call, and I’ll come get it (since they have my phone number in their diary over 100 times (that’s how much I used to come here since it’s local) ) and when I said so if you had to throw my bread away, why didn’t you call?? (It Only takes 2 seconds to call, and I know they stand around doing hardly anything all afternoon) They said rudely, “well we don’t have to call, you have to remember” which is extremely ableist to someone with ADHD as we encounter ADHD Tax every where we go because of memory and as a regular customer who they know the way they treat me is disgusting. I will not be returning I’ve received poor treatment bc of my condition all my life and I’m not going to continue to fund an establishment which taxes me for a condition I was born with, is always rude and doesn’t enforce their own system.

My friend and I decided to go and have a coffee and a cake in here yesterday . Their bakery is amazing so I was looking forward to it. We Sat down and there was a notice saying to be seated and wait to be served. There weren't any menus , and we appeared to be invisible to the waitress. There were two other customers but they both had their order, so after sitting there for over 5 minutes, we asked the waitress for some menus. She practically threw them down on the table and didn't even speak. My friend and I decided what we would order and I kept looking to see if the waitress was going to come over but she just didn't . She just went into a back room and slammed the door! We just got up and left. Shame ,because I know their cakes are lovely. Just let down by stroppy girl!

New bakery recently opened in our area, thought we would give it a try. Very disappointed, the loaf was very dry and indigestible also thought it was overpriced. A small loaf and a Belgium bun £4.25. On this occasion we didn't get the "quality" we paid for.

Don't buy sandwiches from a chemist (Boots) or grocer (Sainsbury) go to a proper shop with real bread and fresh fillings. Cakes are to die for! They also sell the really good fresh baked loaves/batons/rolls etc. as a proper bread shop.

Went there this afternoon to have a coffee and walked in at 3.27. Asked if I could pay by card, then ordered and coffee to drink in the cafe area and said I'd be buying some sourdough loaves and maybe other bits to take away with me. Was told, "The cafe area closes at 3.30. We can do you a takeaway." It was pouring with rain, so a takeaway was pointless. I jokingly said "I'd have a take away but could sit in to drink it?" to be told again "The cafe area closes at 3:30" It's a public-facing, cafe where customer service should be paramount. I left, they lost a decent sale and the potential of more visits as a central, client-meeting point; plus recommendations to business clients. The bread looked good, null points for customer service and a helpful response. It seemed the staff had already started cleaning down the coffee machine and making preparations to close.

Thought i would try this bakery/coffee shop. Was about to ask for a slice of caramel tray bake and a tea to drink in and before i could say please could i have was greeted by "sorry we have sold out of rolls". Not sure why they said this as hadn't even started to ask for something. Not the friendliest of welcomes. However quick service once ordered and paid mainly because it was empty. Tray bake nice. Tea however had a film on it and didn't taste nice and like the hot water had come out of the coffee machine as i hint of coffee could be tasted. As i didn't see it made i can't be sure. Won't be coming back at least not for a mug of tea tasting like coffee.

Have been wanting to go here for a long time to try the bread - it's not somewhere I pass very often, the first time I went in they had no large loaves left, this time I decided to just try some bread as the reviews on here say how good it is.There were a couple of people in the shop - so I stepped in and this is another problem here. The set up of this shop is that you walk one step in and there is the till. It would be much better to have the till further inside the shop so customers can see the full display cabinet as how it is set up, you really cannot see much at all unless there is no one in the shop.I saw some sourdough bread on the counter top and asked for one. They looked very nice. I paid and left the shop - with difficulty as there was now a queue going out of the shop, due to the set up and it was a fight to get out. When I got home I was disappointed when I opened my bag up, the loaf I'd been given looked overdone. It was a very hard outside crust and I couldn't even cut it. I had to get a stronger family member to do this for me.All four of us tried this bread and no one liked it. The outside was hard as nails and the inside didn't have a very good taste.I won't be going here again.

I went there twice with my husband and two kids, first time for lunch, we sat outside and had two large sausage rolls, a chicken and mushroom pie, a pepper steak pie. All was very tasty, good service. Before we left we bought a banana bread loaf and it was delicious we went back again for brunch and we sat inside, we were again satisfied with the food and service. Prices are also honest. I recommend it if you are in the centre, also the bread looks and smells amazing

I buy bread, croissants and cheese and tomato rolls from this bakery approx. 3 times a week and I have never had bread so tasty! The staff are friendly and it is very popular. Popped in for coffee and a snack, I had a scone and my husband had a steak bake. Coffee good but scone was cold although my husband thought she possibly asked if I wanted it warming like his? The sandwiches here are the best in town. Staff are friendly and helpful, but the place keeps running out of bread at lunchtime - not very helpful for a sandwich shop! I have been there numerous times at around 1.00 only to be told they have run out of bread. Its a bit like a pub that runs out of beer! There are often queues, sometimes out of the door, which speaks for their popularity and the quality of their food. If only they could get themselves organised they would get 5 stars.

This place is a great find. It's slightly out of the way and maybe you wouldn't walk past if you're out in Eastbourne but it definitely worth a visit for coffee or lunch. To quote a hymn from my homeland. Very good service by staff who smile and seem interested in their produce. About the shop: there are tables inside so people can have a drink and something to bite. I went to buy some bread and crossiants. Which I liked. Bad experience !! they didn't check allergies , no tap water offered I had ordered a bottle of sparkling water when it eventually came ( service was painfully slow and it was really quiet at the time , heaven knows how they cope when busy ) it was warm , they said they didn't have storage to chill the bottles of sparkling water I could put it in a glass full of ice or they would put it in the freezer , I had waited long enough and declined both , yet they charged me for it , I didn't notice until the card clicked that it had gone through , I then waited another 10 minutes to tell me they couldn't give me a refund at the moment as they couldn't contact head office ??? they took my number , but of course nobody has rung me , maybe if they ever bother to they could refund the service charge at the sometime as it was appalling . Food was ok
