Poppies Restaurant in Stirling

We had a very nice dinner at Poppy Seed. We felt welcomed and had a relaxed dinner in their comfortable dining. Food was excellent. We'd go back in a minute.

We picked this restaurant from the Tripadvisor listing.

We enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner with 2 glasses of wine each on a damp chilly evening in early October. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food well cooked and presented. The meal was more expensive than standard pub fayre but well worth the price for a treat during our week's stay in Callander. Would recommend and return without hesitation. I gather that the restaurant is closing at the end of October with the chef going to pastures new so go whilst it's still open.

We were staying in Poppies Hotel and had dinner here on two nights. The food was top-notch. These were two of the best dinners we had during our time in Scotland. The food was perfectly prepared with a complexity of flavors and superbly presented. Kudos to you, chef!

This is lovely restaurant attached to the Poppies Hotel.It is a very attractive dining room. My wife and I had a delicious meal served by lovely staff.The meals were not cheap but well worth the money.

The food is excellent and very well presented. The staff are most friendly and ensure that all is as you would like it. Good location and well worth a visit.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight and honestly it has been one of the best meals we have had as my husband is a chef himself he said everything was cooked to perfection every course was amazing I had can't wait till we are back up in callander so we can book dinner again. We stayed in the B&B; and luckily got the last table in the restaurant on Monday evening. Wonderful food. Some unusual dishes but all were very tasty

As we had an 8 hour journey to get to our accommodation we thought it best to make sure we had somewhere reserved for dinner. So after a quick look at TripAdvisor we went for the Poppy Seed - what a fantastic choice.

Si mangia bene. Ottima la carne. Si sente lo sforzo per cucinare oltre gli standard scozzesi. La spesa (mediamente alta) vale assolutamente la pena. Consigliato l'orzotto.

During our annual visit to Callander we usually have one meal at Poppies. This was a special occasion being our Golden Wedding so we booked here and enjoyed a wonderful meal plus a bottle of wine. Many of the old touches left by the previous owners in Angela and John and the high standard was maintained. Not huge portions but well cooked and served by great staff. The lamb was excellent and the chicken for my wife was just as good. The two ladies waiting on were cheerful and full of chat to make our night special. No doubt the waitress who had cash on Liverpool winning the European Cup would be disappointed!! A great night for a special occasion.

This was the best food we had during our trip. Beautiful dishes and wonderful compositions. The “iced blueberry “ dessert was like an angel to my mouth.

I visited this restaurant as part of a large group (30 people), which must have put a strain on the kitchen and waiting staff to get everything prepared and served up at roughly the same time.

Absolutely incredible meal. Perfectly cooked scallops to start. And the duck for main had some fantastic flavour combinations. Need more work on the cheeseboard . More oatcakes ideally. But what a memorable meal. And 2 very hardworking and impressive servers. Thumbs up on the disarano coffee

Just about at the edge of town in Callander, this restaurant faces the garden from the ground floor of Poppies Hotel. We felt immediately welcomed (and relaxed) by the beautiful flowers and friendly staff.

Having previously loved the BOT Tearooms and enjoyed a lovely overnight stay at Poppies we recently visited Poppyseed with family to celebrate my daughters birthday for lunch- excellent food and lovely staff- Charlene who did a wonderful job looking after us and making Nina’s day special, good luck on your travels, to the chef for working on his own birthday and preparing our very favourite dish (special thanks for schnitzels!) and of course Veronica who was extremely helpful on booking then particularly kind to us on the day, the heart is a lovely addition to our home. We left having enjoyed all aspects of our afternoon and with one very happy birthday girl! Great to know you’re still providing delicious food in the area. Hopefully next time we will stay over again too! Thank you!

We had been given a great recommendation to come to Poppy Seed Restaurant so, after parking the car tightly, I was delighted to see such a well-stocked whisky bar. So we passed into the restaurant and ordered our meal.

five star food. Very enjoyable with educated staff. Good stock of Scottish whisky in the bar delightful menu selection and cooked beautifully - very well presented.

Recommended to us by our B&B; (Lubnaig), we made reservations and had an incredible experience for dinner that evening. The service was just outstanding, personal, friendly and so engaging. The meal was exquisite, locally grown foods wonderfully put together. Our family of 5 (three teenage boys) and Granny loved the evening and would highly recommend it!

Lovely restaurant and great food, three of us had excellent lamb, cooked to perfection. Just a pity the steak was off the menu as the choice is not extensive, smoked salmon was also not available so perhaps check if your heart is set on a steak and salmon to start. Would still recommend 100 percent. Our waitress was also charming , gold star for excellent professional service. Also being a foreigner her English was brilliant.

Fabulous dinner at Poppy Seed, on first glance the menu looks limited, however the food is stunning. You really get what you pay for here, quality all the way and friendly local service.

I selected Poppy Seed Restaurant based on the positive tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant clean and modern, and the food tastes and looks great - please see the attached photos, presentation is seriously on point.

Meal was delicious. A feast for the eyes. The desserts are absolutely spectacular. Presentation was wonderful. The waitress was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Please go there for a meal and be delighted.

Such a perfect way to finish our holiday with an evening meal at Poppy Seed Restaurant before heading south. The lamb was especially succulent. We will be back again

My wife and I had an outstanding dinner. The restaurant is small with 12 tables which were all full while we were there. The service was impeccable and the food was perfectly prepared. My wife had the salmon dish and I had the Scottish steak which were both delicious. Our starters were cauliflower soup and scallops. The parfait I had for dessert couldn’t have been more tasty. A great evening!

We were disappointed with the level of service, having to wait half an hour for a bowl of soup is not a good experience. They could have offered a bowl of olives or something to tie us on whilst our stomachs were rumbling. The food was ok but not outstanding - we would not go back

A group of 7 of us had dinner at the Poppy Seed. All of our meals were excellent and our server was fantastic. She helped make this a special evening.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here to end a wonderful week in the Callander area. We were looked after very well by Victoria and enjoyed a delicious meal. The menu has a good mix to choose from and we were more than happy with the lamb and chicken dishes that we selected. We finished off by sharing the cheeseboard with coffee.

I dropped in for just one course on an overnight stay in Callander. The duck was delicious and I'll certainly be back when I'n next in town.

We dined at this restaurant yesterday evening. We were a party of seven, and everyone of us had a beautiful meal. We could not fault anything. The food was cooked to perfection and was beautifully served. The staff are excellent - very friendly but also very professional. If you are in Callander this is definitely the best place to eat. Not the cheapest meal in Callander, but if you are looking for a top quality dining experience you will find it here.

My wife and I were on a weekend trip to the Scottish highlands for our Wedding anniversary and decided that we wanted to make the day extra special by having an amazing meal. We used trip advisor to assist in our decision making and The Poppy seed restaurant seemed to appeal to both of us. It was 60 mins away from our hotel, but we plotted it into our plan for the day to ensure that we could visit. It did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is attached to a guest house. First impressions were that this was a very cosy, clean and friendly place. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Both my wife and I had three courses and every single course was amazing. I cannot recommend or praise this restaurant highly enough. Simply wonderful

Friends and I travelling through Callendar enjoyed top service at Poppies restaurant. It was recommended by our host at Lubnaig Guest House; and it did not disappoint. We were all pleasantly surprised by our dishes and enjoyed cocktails (best mojito ive ever had), wine and delectable cheese board. A must do! I believe we sat there for 4 hours over dinner and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend it.

We had a lovely meal at Poppy Seeds. The Hungarians Bull's Blood wine was excellent. I can only laugh at the fact my husband's gnocci was crumbed and fried!!!! Everything else was delicious.A terrific birthday meal.

Fabulous meal for our wedding anniversary. We were able to book nice and early at 5:30pm as we needed to be back home to put kids to bed. We had the place to ourselves for about an hour which was lovely! We dined at poppies quite a bit before it changed hands and usually went for the early evening special deal which is not on offer anymore and we really miss as it was a good deal (I think it was 2 courses for £14 or 3 for £18 or something like that). We started with duck bonbons which were delicious and scallops which even though quite small (3 scallops for about £9.50) were fantastic! Mains of chicken and steak were perfect with really lovely accompanying extras which complimented the meats beautifully. The only downside was that as the plates were hot coming out, both the sauces dried onto the plates so we had to do a fair amount of scraping to get them off as we wanted every last bit since they were so good! My husband and I shared the cheese platter after, which was plenty between us and a nice selection, (especially the blue cheese, blue murder - exceptional). All in all an excellent meal which filled us up without leaving us feeling overly stuffed and although it was not cheap, was just the ticket for a special meal. Excellent friendly service too. We will be back.

We had a lovely family meal in poppies restaurant. A few drinks in the bar followed by a great meal in the restaurant. We were a party of 8 with 4 children and we all had a great meal with faultless cheerful service. Will come and stay in the hotel and eat at the restaurant again.

Couldn't fault the quality and presentation of the three courses I had. All were cooked to perfection for me. My only comment would be that it would be nice to have a couple of canapes with pre-dinner drinks and it is unusual to not be offered bread at the start of the meal. Other than that I think we were fortunate to choose to dine here.

We popped in for a drink one night and had a very warm welcome by all of the staff. We booked a table for the following night and we were not disappointed. The food was magnificent, well cooked, beautifully presented, imaginative and tasty. The wine list was very reasonably priced, albeit some unusual choices; we were given a couple of samples to help us make our choice! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, a special thank you to Veronica who greated us like old friends when we walked into their sister 'tea room' at the Brig O' Turk for tea and cake the following day.

First time in the Poppy Seed Restaurant, dining with friends, exceeded expectations, wonderful food, great atmosphere, beautifully presented, welcoming staff, would definitely revisit this gem of a place in the heart of Callander

Les assiettes sont généreuses.La soupe de fraises était excellent.Tout était très bons, tout le monde a léché son assiette.Le rapport qualité prix est très bon : 2 apéritifs + 2 plats + 2 grands verre de vin + 2 desserts = 68£.Nous y retournerons avec grand plaisir si l'occasion venait.

Hit a very hot day in callander and tried the poppyseed restaurant. Very nice outside sitting area was a blessing and the food and service was excellant. Very popular spot so reservations are needed. Very cool restaurant inside too. Nicely decorated.

OMG we book ourselves in to POPPY SEED RESTAURANT what an amazing meal started with scallops which were Devine then had lamb now that melted in your mouth and because the cheese board sound so good we shared that then followed with melt in the mouth chocolate mouse. This is the best meal we have had whilst travelling around U.K., France and Spain in 5 months. I over heard the people at the next table rebook for Thursday and it's Sunday today plus mention they may also come in between times. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHEF YOU ARE DOING A BLOODY FANTASTIC JOB !!!

JULY 17. I am not a lover of Salmon so chef changed fish for me to Mackeral.Mackeral rested on a bed of Pea puree which was stunning as was fish cooked to perfection.Presentation was Art on a plate.Service was very good and nothing was a bother to our server.Hubby had the Lamb and it too was Excellent presentation and taste were wonderfull.

As we were a group of 6 decided to book ahead......just as well as Poppy Seed was busy. Has a taste of the variety of special gins on offer in the bar before we had dinner. Some of the special gins were worth trying; some not for the price nothing too good! Dinner not a rushed affair having chosen our dishes while in the bar and we were not rushed to our table. Staff very attentive without being pushy. Dinning room was busy with a good atmosphere. Starters=Soup of the day: good; Aubergine salad: lovely; seared scallops=appeared to be 1 scallop cut in to little bits but very tasty; hot smoked salmon salad=excellent. Main dishes=Chicken supreme: delicious; fillet of salmon: very good; Grilled Halloumi: excellent; Pan Fried Duck: very good; Lamb Rump: really good; Steak; a wee bit veiny. The portions are very generous. Wine a wee bit expensive compared to what the actual wine would cost in a super market! All in all a lovely meal but all drinks a bit on the expensive side. Service was very good, attentive but not too over the top!

Not been here before. Sister restaurant of the tearoom at Bridge O'Turk, a few miles away- also good.Three of us are here. Service very good. Everything about the venue is very attractive. The food was consistently impressive through all courses. We had duck and also halloumi. Chefy all plates. Highly recommended.

You seat in the foyer of the hotel and while seeping a good wine (or any other drink for that matter) you order your food and you are invited into the restaurant and sit at your table when they are ready to serve you. Very pleasant experience!

The owners of the guest house we stayed at told us that this was their favourite local restaurant, so we gave it a try. It turned out to be a super place. The food was excellent and interestingly presented. It tasted great. I had "Lamb Rump", which was better than any lamb I've tasted, and the Smoked Salmon Starter was tremendous!What a find!

Hebben hier 2 avonden gegeten omdat we in hotel verbleven. Maar na de eerste avond was het voor ons duidelijk dat we hier nogmaals wilden eten.Bijzonder aardig en attent personeel. En complimenten voor de kok(s) voor de bereiding van de gerechten. Gemiddeld geprijsd voor bijzonder lekkere gerechten.Er komen ook mensen eten die niet in hotel verblijven. Een aanrader is dan ook om te reserveren.

We were in need of a cup of tea on a very wet afternoon. The owner was very attentive and we were served a lovely pot of Earl Grey in the bar. We are returning to Callander later in the year and plan to visit this hotel for a meal as the menu looks very tempting.

My husband and I visited this evening and from our very first moment we had an excellent experience, a very friendly welcome from the owner then the bar staff. We had a relaxing seat in the bar area before our meal which is spotless and very well decorated. After being shown to our table our food was served by another member of staff(again very pleasant). It has to be said that our food was outstanding, we will definitely recommend as a must visit and also return ourselves. Thank you all

When eating out, normally one of the courses provided lets you down, however here at The Poppy Seed restaurant in Callander, all three courses my husband and I each had were fabulous. The accompanying flavours to my scallops (apple and celeriac) were perfect and my husband's aubergine and chickpea starter was plentiful and very tasty. The mains of duck and salmon were lovely and the puddings superb. Wish we had this restaurant locally to us in London! Very good value too.

We visited for dinner and we enjoyed it very much. All the food was excellent and the service was friendly. The menu makes the most of local ingredients and was cooked with great attention to detail. We especially enjoyed the lamb rump with truffle mash.

Had a family meal to celebrate my wifes 40th. The food was amazing and service from the two staff looking after us was excellent, very accommodating.I had wood pigeon starter and Duck for main ,was really nice. The steak looked great too.

Absolutely did not expect to find this wonderful a restaurant!We booked two rooms in the hotel and thought iot was convenient that it had a restaurant so booked a table for the night as well.Best meal we had in a whole week of travelling through Scotland.Beautifull dishes, wonderful tastes... very easily compared with Michelin starred restaurants we have visited recently.We ate slow and consciously and enjoyed every bite, from the starter to the desert.Everything fresh, full of flavour and with plates dressed with such detail it was a joy to eat it.Great winelist as well, with excellent choices for very reasonable prices.Children enjoyed it as well.Do book a table when in Callander, even if you're not a hotel guest.

Came here on our last night in the Highlands. It came highly recommended, and I can now see why. There's a small bar attached, with a modest selection of ales, some of the local gin, and an incredible offering of over 130 whiskies. The restaurant itself is quiet, obviously quite new, and the staff attentive. The menu is not large, but the offerings are varied and cater to all palettes. I had the local salmon, grilled to perfection with a nice variety of seasonal vegetables.Some excellent desserts to choose from, and of course a single malt with coffee!The prices are reasonable considering the quality.

Having visited Poppies several times and more than satisfied every time this visit to to the new restaurant was a disappointment Food and service were both ok but overall value was poor in comparison to several other restaurants in Callander and especially the old Poppies restaurant which had an excellent early bird menu of 3 courses around price of new restaurant main course!

After eating the fabulous food served at the Brig O Turk tearoom last year I was upset to find they were now closed on an evening. The owner informed me that they had taken on a new venture at Poppies so I took my mum and dad for his 60th birthday/mother's day. The chef hasn't lost his touched and provided us with an incredible meal which including a bottle of wine came to £30 a head. It's a lovely setting and if you are into beautifully presented, tastes food then this is an absolute must!!!!

Although we've holidayed in the Trossachs area for many many years this was a new find for us.Great food and good service. If you enjoy sampling whisky this is a good place to come.

Visited on a Monday, so was not surprised to find that we were the only table to have booked (not unusual for the time of the year). Welcomed by a delightful waitress/ bar tender. The choice of drinks (gins) from the bar was amazing! The menu was difficult to choose from as it was so varied! We were not rushed in any way to move from the bar to the restaurant while we enjoyed our gin tasting! Meal was wonderful and the waitress was attentive without being intrusive. Although we were the only table on the night, we did not feel that the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend a visit to Poppies and will definitely return when next in the area.

Went to celebrate a special birthday..what a magnificent meal. I understand we were amongst the first to experience the restaurant under new owners and if the meal we had was a precursor to what they have planned then this restaurant deserves to take off. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit for great food, good setting and a fantastic staff.

The staff is helpful and pleasant. They seat you in a waiting area where you can have drinks choosing from a huge selection of whiskies and much more.The food was delicious. The restaurant is in a beautiful old home, decorated in warm, cozy manner and this all contributes to making this a welcoming spot to return to for many more pleasant hours.

We had a drink in the bar, ordered our food and 30 minutes later we were shown to our table in the restaurant. The bar and restaurant are very dimly lit and the restaurant very much lacks any atmosphere. However the food was very good and the service, once seated, was prompt and friendly.
