The first thing you notice is the warm, friendly reception from the owners. Then there's the view: our room overlooked the Loch and it was stunning - even when the clouds were rolling in. Everything was scrupulously clean and there were tea and coffee making facilities, together with complementary bottled water. There is a bar downstairs and a lounge with TV and more lovely views. The food was excellent: full Scottish breakfast and dinners were delicious, all freshly cooked and served with a smile. I can recommend the steak pie. All in all, a great location for a break and we shall definitely be going back.

Just had dinner at the Lochearnhead Hotel - exceptional from beginning to end. The haggis stuffed pancake starter was superb, as well as being unique, and the fish dishes were cooked to perfection. The overall ambience was delightful and the views from the panoramic windows, in the restaurant, were amazing. Staff and service absolutely faultless. Chef clearly an artist at work.

Having spent 5 nights in Aviemore, unable to eat out because many restaurants were closed or full & struggling for staff, we were relieved to get booked in for dinner at the Lochearnhead Hotel when we moved to our new base in Balquhidder. From our first call, we were made welcome & accommodated for dinner despite not staying at the hotel. We had a 3 course meal & the service was very friendly & efficient. We had the lovely home made mushroom soup & pate & then both had venison pie with mushrooms & juniper berries. The pies were packed with tender meat & absolutely delicious. They were accompanied by mixed vegetables including new potatoes, mange tout, carrots & broccoli - a separate portion each. Finally we had sticky toffee pudding & I had the Baileys & Dark Chocolate cheesecake. The food & service were excellent & we enjoyed our food looking out on Loch Earn - this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

We visited last night for a meal on the last night of our break to lochearnhead. I've been staying at the Four Seasons hotel in St Fillans, which serves pretty mediocre food, so I was looking for an alternative. The Lochearnhead hotel is run by a hard working couple and all that hard work definitely shows in the restaurant. This is great food, clearly created with a lot of love for cooking. Great atmosphere created by the wonderful host, so for my next stay at Loch Earn, the Lochearnhead Hotel would certainly top my list.

It’s lovely to see that one of my favourite places I used to visit when I was a child with my family hasn’t lost its touch. Although we only came in for a bite to eat, we felt that the friendly and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home and the food was absolutely delicious too. For those considering a nice Scottish getaway with stunning views, I cannot recommend this place enough!

I had been hiking for 7+ hours and had also managed to slip while fording a burn so was absolutely knackered and probably looking a bit dishevelled. I'd been to the pub next door who, after me asking for a taxi number (they didn't know any) and watching me looking at the menu for 5/10 mins before ordering, advised me "the kitchen has just closed". Rage! I decided to pop in to Lochearnhead Hotel as I wanted to try and revitalise my faith in humanity. They absolutely did not disappoint. While their kitchen was closed they offered to make me up some soup which, after 7+ hours of hiking, was like manna from heaven. They also informed me there was actually a taxi rank right beside the other pub(!!) but unfortunately I'd already ordered one from a town miles and miles away. They were hugely welcoming and engaged me in conversation about beer and the local area. I could not recommend them more highly.

Robert, the owner-manager, is an excellent chef, and his wife (sorry, didn't get the name) looks after everyone in a friendly, informative and very efficient manner. For main course, I had local trout - baked with capers - (best ever), and my wife had tender pieces of roast chicken wrapped in prosciutto. Bread, starters and desserts were all delicious, as was the wine. Dinner at the Lochearnhead Hotel was the perfect way to enjoy a perfect evening view over Loch Earn.

It's best to book if you want to get in here, as it is a small family run concern. We were unlucky the first night we tried, but booked for the next night there and then. There was an excellent menu. I went for the venison pie. I don't often eat venison, but I figured I was in the right area to get locally produced meat and it was cooked to perfection, just the right consistency. Served with a side plate of vegetables it was a tasty and filling meal, but I left room for dessert and chose the sticky orange sponge with ice cream, which was also very enjoyable. My friends enjoyed their meals too, and we had a lovely view out the big windows to the loch. The lady serving was very pleasant and made us feel completely relaxed after a day's hill walking. It's quite a steep walk up to the front door from the main road, which might not suit everyone. It's fairly pricey, but we were on holiday and it's not every day you eat so well, so I didn't grudge it.

We have been staying locally in a holiday cottage, sadly this place was closed for most of our holiday. No where else near seemed that great so when they opened back up we booked up straight away. Visited Friday around 6.30. The lady was very welcoming and chatty. She made us feel right at home and not rushed at all. We where the only table at the time but more came to join nearer 7. The food was...amazing. I am a young chef and thought this food was great, portions where great for the price and full of flavour. We all tried a bit of each other's food and the two pies where so nice, I got food envy! The meat just melted in the mouth. The puddings where great too, again we all tried each others. The chocolate parfait was so smooth and the slight Orange flavour worked well.

On the advice of Matthew at Lochearn House, we ate here. From the moment we entered the bar we received a warm and friendly welcome and we were very much made to feel at home. We were given the option of eating in the bar or restaurant (same menus) so we opted to eat in the bar. There we were able to enjoy the company of other visitors and staff, chatting away throughout the evening. My husband was delighted with the venison pie, while I had a very tasty steak and ale pie. No room for desert, but the beer and wine went down well alongside the food. A wee gem of a place that we'd recommend to anyone in the area.

Myself and 19 friends had a private function at the hotel. The hotel normally would close the day before for winter refurbishing. We arrived on 3rd December for one night and were welcomed warmly by Robert, the owner and his wife. After welcome drinks we were given our rooms, all with en suite and spotlessly clean. The meals which we had previously ordered, were promptly served without being rushed, and I can say every last one of our group thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The food cooked by the chef (Robert the owner) was delicious. The beds were very comfortable, and the showers excellent. Lovely soft towels and toiletries were in the rooms. A beautiful full breakfast in the morning made for a perfect enjoyable stay at Lochearnhead Hotel, so much so that we have booked for our annual Tryst next year.

This Hotel is made by its excellent hosts the owners they are charming , nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to ensure you have a good time . Armada is essentially front of house and Robert the chef. Remember this is a two star hotel so the rooms are good and simple with all the usual bits but need a bit of updating , the wallpaper coming of the walls in the bathroom and a more thorough clean would help . There also is a love affair with spiders as webs seems to be in most places . The reception and the furniture in the bar basic with tables losing their varnish. but you forget all this when you meet your hosts, the dinner was very good , a perfectly cooked trout princess and monster portions of very tasty venison bourgignon all served with fresh individual vegetables. The puddings good straightforward stuff but well executed an excellent crème Brule and sticky toffee pudding shone. This is charming place to stay and clearly has a loyal following and rightly so

During a recent stay at the cottages next door to the hotel we decided to visit the hotel for a beverage. Unfortunately, my partner accidentally spilt his drink over himself and on one of the seats. Obviously, this happens in bars so we didn't expect a complete showdown courtesy of the landlady. I have never witnessed behaviour like it - I was absolutely disgusted with the way my partner was spoken to and how the landlady behaved towards him. She literally ragged the cover off the seat with so much rage I couldn't believe my eyes. There was no need to act in such an aggressive manner over a spilt drink. My partner offered to clean the drink up and was sincerely apologetic but that did not matter to her as nothing seemed to deflate the situation. If this is the way she speaks to her guests or rectifies situations I would recommend that everyone steers clear or this place. No one deserves to be treat the way my partner was treated never mind a paying customer. She upset all members of our party that evening, don't let her ruin your holiday.Avoid at all costs!

Excellent menu and very tasty food (home cooked fat chips were amazing).Welcome from the lady owner (sorry didnt get her name) and the Spanish waiter was exceptional, made us feel really welcome even though we were staying next door.Food and drink rather pricey though.

Had a meal in here with some friends the other night. The meal was very good and I can echo previous reviews that the people who run the place are very friendly and welcoming. It's in a lovely elevated location; overlooking Loch earn and the mountains beyond.

It was a couple of years ago when we last stopped here for lunch, we had toasties then and they were delicious, this time just as good, so have to say the Lochearnhead Hotel does the best toasties! Great to catch up with Robert & Amanda & a very grown up Grace!

We came here for our honeymoon and what a great choice it was! Amanda and Robert were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and clean and the food in the restaurant (cooked by Robert) was fantastic. We particularly loved the haggis in pancakes as a starter. There was also a very good selection of whiskeys at the bar.We had a fabulous time at this hotel and thoroughly recommend it. Amanda and Robert clearly work very hard to make everything tick over. Thank you!David and Katharine Stedman.

The owners were very friendly and attentive. It is a great family run business. We had 3 courses and the timing inbetween was perfect.Good menu and good food though maybe a little overpriced (by a few pounds). I was disappointed with the chips as they appeared to be standard frozen. Chuncky or twiced fried would have been much nicer and more fitting with the quality of the rest of the food. The steak was good and cooked just as requested.

Visited the hotel for a meal last week while we were staying in the lodges next door and couldn't have been any happier with the service or food. After a long day out on the hills a nice relaxing evening was needed. Amanda and her husband were very accommodating and friendly. From the fantastically priced menu we both had the deep fried brie and my partner ordered the 8oz sirloin steak and I had the venison pie, both were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious! Then to finish up we had choc and orange truffle terrine and caranachan cheesecake. Would recommend the hotel to anyone passing through to try it and we will definitely go back again. Top marks from us as we couldn't fault a single thing :)

Very pleasant staff and a fairly broad menu. The food was well cooked and hot but not of very high quality. I had scampi and some of them had more breadcrumbs than flesh!

We were staying locally and were recommended to eat here. A phone call revealed that they were very busy, but if we could arrive at 6 they would fit us in; we did and they did, much to our pleasure. It's a beautifully situated dining room overlooking the loch and we enjoyed a lovely meal with great, very personal service both in the small bar and in the restaurant. Well worth a visit.

We arrived without a booking and the dining room was full but the charming hostess found us a table away in a corner. It was a cosy spot as the Scottish mist and rain swirled over loch outside. The menu was limited but we both enjoyed the meal we had - so much so that we came back the very next night.

I have been to The Lochearnhead Hotel many times and have never once been disappointed with food, accommodation or the welcome you get from Amanda, Robert and not forgetting William & Grace. This is a family run hotel by Robert and Amanda who are doing a first class job. Robert has to be one of the top chefs in Scotland and nothing is ever a problem to him. I have had many things off the menu and cannot pick a favourite as every dish is as good as the other. Service is always served with a smile. As well as the usual menu there is also a range of specials to choose from. The restaurant overlooks the Loch so as well as having amazing food you also get a fantastic view. I would recommend The Lochearnhead Hotel to anyone as there is something on the menu to suit everyone. (my only problem is I never know what to choose as it's all so good.) I can't wait to return.

Stayed here for one night, our standard double room was a good size, with all the amenities you would expect. Nice room actually, with a lovely big bay window, very clean and tasteful decor. Breakfast has to be preordered the night before which really wasn’t an issue for us. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were roomy and spotless. Lovely big shower head in the bathroom which blasted off the cobwebs from a night of overdoing the whisky consumption! The breakfast was fantastic! In fact, my wife said it was the best she’d ever experienced in a hotel or b&b and that is saying something. Really well run hotel, highly recommended.
