Pop'dom in East Riding of Yorkshire

The most recent of many visits to this unique Asian restaurant. Superb food, the Nasala Doa is highly recommended.... I also had a Saag, and a spiced paneer starter. This place gets busy, and is quite small, so it's best to book ahead.

I went in around 19:30, it was pretty much a full house (only 2 tables left) and for a tuesday night this surprised me as places normally get busy on weekends or frodays, the service was very slow (im not sure whether this was down to the place being full though) it took about 15 minutes for them to ask what I wanted, another 15 to bring poppadoms out then around 10-15 minutes after the poppadoms for the starters to come out. This is different to your normal indian cuisine but the food is very nice. I got chicken 65 for my starter and poppadoms and it was lovely, for my mains I had naan bread, chicken tikka and paneer, the food was amazing despite the slow service and the main woman was nice and friendly. it would have been a lot better as the people were nice and the food was good, the only thing that would need improving is service speed.

Very good food! I had the koothu with lamb and it was excellent! The mutton rolls were very moist and had a great flavour. The mojito mocktail was also extremely flavourful and it was blue! The only downside was the service was a tad slow but not too much that it was a problem. 100% would recommend the staff, food and atmosphere was great.

We'd been once before and loved it and as it was my birthday we thought we'd go back with friends. I hadn't expected it to be full on a Tuesday evening and I think word of mouth has spread and this is now a hot destination. Sisi explained the menu as it's not your usual Indian curry house. This is really the next level. After a Massala Dosa to start and drinks served promptly we went on to Chicken Saag, Chicken Jalfreizi, Tandoori Chicken Tikka and especially the Mutton curry were all beautifully presented as were the salad, rice and garlic and coriander naan sides. All tasted extraordinary. Topped off with a glorious surprise birthday cake from them and big smiles all round at the very reasonable bill we wandered off home. If you're thinking of going please do, the food and the staff will make it a grand night out.

Visited 1st time with my partner & son. (My son recommended to us to try) We was greeted by a friendly member of staff & asked which table we would like. We choose away from the door because I am always cold. Our order for drinks was taken & the promptly brought to us. We spoke to a really nice waiter with out order & asked for 2 garlic breads. His answer was I will bring you 1 to start & another if you still want it.( we thought this was great service ) We ordered a couple of dosa’s to start with a vegetable one & a meat one. They both went down a storm .this was mine & my partners 1st time trying a dosa. We all ordered different main dishes & 3 rice & 2 chips. We only needed 2 rice & 2 chips. Will we remember this when we return? The food all came together & we all enjoyed our chooses dishes. We love a good Indian & have tried a good percentage of the, in the area. Well I would say we have found a bloody good one here. 1000% recommend

First visit and we were extremely pleased with the service and food. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Not too pricey. We will return soon.

We booked our table for 5:30 pm. The restaurant had about half the tables filled. We were greeted and shown to our seats. The waiter was by himself and was busy dealing with other diners who arrived prior to us. We ordered drinks, which came promptly except my coffee( I had to wait a little longer). However, the waiter then took our starter orders, and they arrived(again due to mine being a hot starter. I had to wait a little longer). But to his credit, he also brought over a complimentary dish. We then ordered our mains, and they all arrived together. Then another waitress came on shift and took over our table. As I'm a non drinker and wanted coffee,she offered me a traditional coffee, which she makes for her father every morning. Boom, the best coffee I have had. The food was magnificent,full of flavour, etc. In other restaurants, I have sometimes felt rushed with dishes arriving in quick succession. So the wait seemed odd. I can say that after this visit and the laid-back, pleasant, and friendly service style, I will come back. It was like dining abroad. The staff are brilliant. They do not rush you. Lastly, they make it a great experience. Lesson to myself, I need to slow down and enjoy a leisurely experience.

The staff are friendly but service was very slow on a busy Saturday (we get why). The menu is a bit different which is good for the area. All the food was very nice. Good chicken and lamb starters that were well seasoned and good quality. The lamb curry was very nice and authentic. The bread was nice but rice pretty average. All in all very good but not amazing but a bit different. Well worth going 100%

Awesome meal, flavour some and plentiful, great value for money. Gave us great advice on what to order… masala dosa, mutton curry, coconut rice, peshwari naan. All delicious, place was packed but attentive service. More diner than restaurant. Would HIGHLY recommend ti anyone looking for authentic Sri larkan cuisine

Excellent South Indian cuisine that awakens your taste buds! Loved the mutton & chicken biryani we ordered, masala chai was lovely and for lassi lovers - it is a recommended must have along with the spicy selections.

Went as a party of six. Lovely food. We tried some new dishes such as vadai and dosa which were liked by all. Main courses were very tasty. Service was excellent. All agreed we would go again.

Great food, tasty and fresh. Very different menu to what I expected much more exciting and lots of vegetarian choices which I love as often prefer to order vegetarian options. Nice beers to go with meal. Pickle tray was best I've had, and poppadoms tasted fresh and crisp. Decent value and staff were friendly who served us. As a local, I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others.

We went here for dinner, staff and service was lovely, prices were reasonable. Ordered porota with pepper mutton curry and chicken fried rice. The food was flavourful, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Authentic south Indian food- super tasty and great value. It's about like a diner so not for those that want table covers and post cutlery. However, the food is amazing and we have been several.times now we have found it.

They are very Friendly and polite ,i love the Pepper Chicken Curry and the sauces and Rice i have been a few times now , The place is clean and warm , Food is always on time

A party of 14 of us booked Pop’dom for a birthday celebration and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue. They decorated the table for us and went to great lengths to make it really special. The food was fabulous and varied and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. A huge well done to the super friendly and efficient staff. It’s the first time we’ve visited Pop’dom but definitely not our last. This is a fabulous place to eat!

Just had a fabulous tea here tonight. We've been a few times but this was the best yet, beautiful authentic food, like going round to someone's Indian Mum's for tea. Paneer dosa, kothu roti, chilli fry idlis, garlic Kulambu all super. Can I just say that last review was very unfair and obviously written by someone very ignorant going by their order...2 kormas and 2 nans !! I ask you, all the great food they do at Pop'dom and that's what they decided to order!Keep up the great work guys we'll be back time and time again. thank you.

Food was nice but curry a bit watery. Low score due to the price. 37 quid for takeaway 2 Currys 2 rice 2 nans. Was q bit of a shock

Just been here with a group of work friends for a bit of a staff night out and I can only thank Jay and his staff for the hospitality shown...and of course the amazing food! Tried all 3 starters. Vegetable, meat and the seafood. Seafood was definitely my personal favourite. We all shared various curries and different rice's, my particular favourite from the lot was the mutton curry. All was packed with flavour! We had numerous types of breads and dips honestly it was a feast fit for royalty. Can't wait to try it all again.

We did not get good service at all and they were not busy. Took forever to get a drink and near the end (1015) they were all sat down eating. I had to ask multiple times to clear our table and they never asked if you wanted drinks and when I asked took a long time. Other than the slow service the food was decent. I eat out a lot and on many Indians and this was pretty average so I am surprised at reviews. Chicken 65 was excellent as was the cheese starter. The spicy mutton was ok. Lots of rice in portions. My mutton korai was ok. My wife’s chicken tikka curry of some description was poor. I’m sure it can be good but our experience was not.

What a hidden gem! Gorgeous food, lovely menu, lovely service! Well worth a visit! It was a really lovely atmosphere with some querky things on the menu.

Food is absolutely amazing. I had butter paneer masala and coconut rice , it was the best I had ever tasted. Staff were so helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food is so reasonably priced.I can't wait to go back!

Having worked in Sri Lanka and experienced Sri Lanka home cooking at its best I can honestly say this is high standard cuisine. The service is excellent. Well worth a visit. Something a little bit different from your average curry. Highly recommended.
