Mumbai Lounge in East Riding of Yorkshire

Food and service are excellent! The outside of the building is looking a little tired, could do with some sprucing up

Was greeted at the entrance on arrival and shown to the table straight away. Menu already at the table. And the staff said just ask if we needed anything. Drinks order was taken quickly by the staff, asked for recommendations which the staff were more than helpful with what we liked and didn’t like. Our daughter asked for mango lassie which wasn’t on the menu but the staff said “no problem” and made her one. The starters we ordered came out in good time and were hot, and really tasty, staff also checked everything was on. Mains then arrived, good portion size and well presented. We all had a chicken dish and well……the size of the chicken pieces were great, big chunks and the most succulent Ive had from a restaurant in a long time, the curry was full of flavour and again all came out in good time and was still hot. The naans we had we nice and soft but not stodgy and wet. Honestly this was our first time eating here and 100% will be going again, the staff were great asking if everything was ok, going above and beyond to make our visit a good one and it truly was. Great job and keep it up ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ordered a takeaway, took an age to be ready (way way longer than the given time by the restaurant) the chicken in all meals was tough and the sauces were thin and greasy with little taste. Not worth the expensive costs, all in a all a very very disappointing meal.

Six of us had an evening meal here. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lots of different dishes were chosen and all were delicious. Service was quick and excellent. Will definitely be back.

Usually get a takeaway from here but on this occasion decided to dine in, unfortunately service was slow with other people were being served even though they arrived after us, x1 meal came wrong but we did not make an issue of it at the time due to the fact we would have to wait again. I informed the staff when we came to pay of the slow service and wrong meal and his reply was to base it on them being busy, which I retorted that when we arrived there was only x2 couples already dining, he offered his apologies and still insisted on them being busy!!!! Which shouldn’t really make any difference.

Very long wait for our food (over an hour) on a Monday night and two of the meals were much spicier than usual. Repeat customers and it's normally excellent. Perhaps it's a Monday thing.

We had the midweek special offer on a Sunday. Good value

A group of 10 of us went to for a lovely meal. Service was very good & food was spot on. No complaints at all. Will 100% be going back.

The restaurant was cold on our first table after sitting down and we were moved to a table near a fan heater ...One waiter had a couldn't be bothered attitude ,when the deafening fire alarm sounded myself and my partner stood up to walkout and the waiter asked if there was a problem? The chef in the kitchen had set the alarm off evidently. My partner had said the ladies toilets were filthy with no toilet paper and several empty loo rolls..with only six people in the restaurant obviously not cleaned for a while. The meal was satisfactory but nothing out of the ordinary. The salt and pepper pots were dirty and very off putting...We won't be visiting again and wouldn't recommend it either. The standards have certainly gone down hill since our last visit six months ago.

Booked online for a birthday treat. Booking accepted, five eager people looking forward to an evening meal. Only to turn up and find Mumbai Lounge is closed on a Monday. Not acceptable. At least this will hopefully prevent someone else having the same disappointment.

It was absolutely freezing in here. They need to warm it up before people arrive.

Couldn't find my booking but found us a table, waited very long time for meal which was awful, 2 meals sent back and 1 eaten because was so hungry but was tasteless, drink had sediment in bottom, food served on cold plates and food looked like been microwaved, what a very disappointing new years eve meal, definitely will not go again.

Don’t bother sat for an hour and fifteen minutes waiting for food whilst all around got theirs an absolute farce salt and pepper pots dirty plates sticky has most definitely seen it’s day left and picked up a takeaway on the way home ruined our new years eve! Even offered to have the food we had ordered as a takeaway and that wasn’t forthcoming will most certainly not be back

Very disappointed after this place was recommended to us. Customer service not great as they are more interested in the bigger tables. The food very bland & chicken pieces far too big, my dish came with 4 huge chicken pieces. Toliets are disgustingly!!! Save your money, go elsewhere

We had a takeaway last night and will not be getting one again. The tikka masala was like tinned tomato soup. Pilau rice had no flavour. I can’t understand why this place gets such good reviews for the good. It’s like it’s from the 1950’s. Do better!

On approach we thought the place was closed. Outside needs a good clean up with McDonald's wrappings on the grass, all the signs covered in algae. Weeds growing around front doors. Car park a bit of a mess. First impressions count. Inside was nice with modern decor, but again needs TLC. Service good, food very good and served hot. Average price. Toilets disgusting according to the wife. Won't go back.

Best curry you will get, regularly get takeaways and eat in here, very friendly staff with brilliant service. The food is amazing. Proper curry with big chunks of meat and veg and full of flavour. Highly recommend Mumbai lounge to anyone.

The food here was excellent. The service? Indifferent I felt. Everything had to be asked for- even ordering our main courses! I don't expect all singing and dancing, but we were two ladies dining to celebrate our birthdays( I mentioned this to our waiter and got a half hearted' Happy Birthday ' which was about as warm as a cold wet flannel) we didn't feel very welcomed. The food was beautifully cooked, so that was a big positive. Could do better on the customer service front.

the food was very nice and our waiter rizwan was very kind snd talked us through the menu although they were busy he still served us and talked to us and made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant

Booked a table just incase. Not bad inside, I found our waiter distant, good well in my opinion was not the best, service was ok but sorry to say not impressed, don’t think I will be back

The food is always fantastic. Staff very attentive. We go most weeks for a take away and we are never disappointed. If you want a good Indian meal then this place is the place to be. Never had a bad meal here.

We were staying nearby and ordered a take away using the restaurants app. On arriving at the restaurant the meal was very quickly delivered. The food was delicious and thoroughly recommended.

Friendly staff, went with friends so had a nice time. Large portions. Don't go to many Indian restaurants so hard to rate for me. Plenty of staff but not always attentive.

Food was delicious and cooked as per our request, staff were friendly and attentive. There was no rush to clear the tables so we could eat our meal at our own pace. There was a nice atmosphere. All round a lovely evening.

Takeout is excellent and menu is easy to follow and if you are earlier than your booked time, every effort is made to produce your order early or you can have a drink at the bar. My only complaint is that the seating is very low and the entrance area with better seats is not well heated and is next to the entrance door

Been our go to Indian restaurant since it opened. We normally get a takeaway and it’s fantastic highly recommended.

Just had a take out Chicken Madras with garlic rice. It was totally delicious. Just the right amount of spiciness and tasty with perfect portion size. Was ready when I went to collect and really hit the mark. Well done guys

The food and service is excellent. Some exciting dishes on the menu, which we are looking forward to trying. I had the Shalimar Kharni which was amazing, the chicken was really tender and all the ingredients worked really well together. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Always enjoyed the York Mumbai Lounge and when we were looking for houses as a first time buyer (outside of York due to price) we found one near Mumbai Lounge Shiptonthorpe, and it is one of the reasons we bought a house near by. Honestly the best Indian food I’ve ever had (apart from my Nan’s). Fully recommended either for dining in, or a takeaway.

My partner and I visited on a short break away and cannot praise this highly enough,the food was delicious ,very reasonably priced and staff were so helpful I just wish I lived nearer to make it my regular

The menu was crafted beautifully, offering potential and promise. The actual food when it arrived was disappointing.

Had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, no vegetarian main courses and stale poppadoms to start. Waited over an hour for the food to be delivered after the order was taken. The food wasn't spicy and very bland. I would not recommend this place and certainly will not be visiting again.

We ate here whilst having a night away after seeing a good star rating. We were seated and served quickly but it was a Sunday and the restaurant was quiet. The food came quickly and was nice, although the poppadoms were quite soft. The following day we were all very ill and had eaten different dishes, I can only put it down to the chicken as we all had chicken dishes and are sensitive to poultry if not cooked right. Disappointing end to a lovely time away.

very good food and service, waiters are very pleasant and nice, food is very flavourful, very good atmosphere inside the restaurant, menu has a lot of options for all diets including kids.

Zero rating as we booked online and drove 20 minutes only to see CASH ONLY on the door! Who carries cash these days? He said the card machine is broken, we could drive to Market Weighton to the cashpoint. Didn't bother to announce it in the website or Facebook.

The staff is super friendly. The food is fantastic and generous. We loved having so much vegetarian options. Plenty of parking outside.

We had a meal in here this evening. Both dishes were to perfection 💯😋actually, the best curry house we've been to in a long time. Staff, especially Kamal was very attentive, friendly and above all, very professional. Will definitely be going again and recommending to friends and family. amazing food with amazing service came on thursday 04.05.23 with my family and friends there were 6 of us . the restaurant was fairly busy as we came in and soon it got really busy. it was a good experience the was second to none absolutely beautiful. i live in manchester and and used to good indian. but this was the best we all had . can’t wait to dine again..thank you mumbai lounge see you soon

Visited whilst on holiday the food is delicious We both had lamb dishes one jalfrezi and a chefs special with shredded potatoes on top the huge chunks of lamb melted in your mouth one of the best curries we have had, and we have had a fair few, staff are attentive very friendly we will definitely visit again you need to give this place a try!

Top notch Bangladeshi and Indian restaurant. Staff friendly and attentive. The quality of the food is excellent and meat is delicious. Very similar in style and quality to the sister restaurant in Fossgate. Highly recommend. Try to Chicken Sashlik or the Madras.

One of the best places in shiptonthorpe. The food was excellent and the staff are really friendly. Would come again but this time i would come with my family so they can enjoy the experience i had.

Having lived near the infamous Birmingham balti triangle for a number of years in often disappointed when going out for an Indian meal. The reviews for Mumbai were consistently great so as holidaying in the area we gave it at go. Very pleased with everything from the service, general ambience and the great food. Give it a go you won't regret it!

Lovely meal. Visited on a Saturday evening on a whim and the car park was busy so we were unsure we would get a table but it’s actually pretty large so we were seated right away. Food was very nice and the staff were all friendly. Would definitely visit again.

I was staying with friends and they arranged for us to have dinner at your restaurant. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and shown to our table. the staff were very friendly and professional and the whole evening was very enjoyable and relaxing. the highlight for me was my choice of dinner. i had the nicest vegetable Dhansak ever. it was really delicious and it had orange slices in it which really enhanced it. My friends were also really pleased with their meal choices too! Thank you so much. we shall visit again next time we are up in Yorkshire. :)

Been afew times before and always been really good. Sadly this visit needed a little more attention to detail. On arrival we ordered drinks and when they arrived I had asked for a non alcoholic cider as I was the driver, went it arrived it was an alcoholic one. Did apologized and got a different drink. The menu was sticky and had curry strain inside. Ordered starters and mains. Nice atmosphere while we was waiting for the food. Starters arrived and looked lovely, sadly one of them had a long white hair in the food. They apologized and cooked another one. Mains arrived and the order was wrong , spoke with waiter and we just then decided to leave what was on the table as we felt he wasn't really listening to us .Then had no cutlery so had to wait again for that. Food was fresh and tasty. A pity about the lack of attention to detail and communication . It's a nice place to eat but will be awhile before we return.

The food here is absolutely beautiful. I love an Indian but can not eat it too hot, the meal I ordered was cooked just to my request. I had a seafood dish and it was cooked beautifully. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Never had a curry with just 2 big pieces of chicken and not so much sauce and the lamb keema weird taste and lots chunky bits not what I was expecting won’t be ordering from there

Me and my family went in on Saturday night 07.01.23 for a meal ..There was 8 of us on our table ..the food the service was first class..the place was packed out..the waiting area was packed with people waiting for takeaways and the restaurant was full of happy customers.. The waiting time wasn't long everything came on time the beers were chilled as I like it .. The staffs and management were very polite.. Our waiter Ray was outstanding 👏 👌 Can't wait to come back soon .. Thanks mumbai lounge for a memorable night 🌙 See you all soon

Went on a Saturday night as the one we usually go to was fully booked and don’t know why we haven’t been before. Staff very attentive, food was better than the one we usually go to and portions were great. Have a nut allergy and everything was well labeled and staff helpful with telling us which curry was fine to have. Will definitely go again.

Went here on 12/12/2022 for my wifes birthday as a second option after the Chinese restaurant at the plough inn was oddly closed and lights all off even though it said it was open online, but we were actually happy as the food was SO GOOD. Was very quiet as it was a cold Monday evening and roads were a bit icy, but the staff were friendly and venue is very nice, and probably the best curries we've had for a long time, if not the best in general. We had poppadoms, chicken tikka and pakoras to start, then butter chicken and a chicken bhuna, and got a naan to share. They gave us an extra naan because they felt the one they had given us was a bit small, we were also being very polite and nice to them, never a bad thing to be nice to your servers. We were both absolutley stuffed and i wanted to finish everything on the plate but couldn't even lean over hah. Was very generous portions and a surprisingly good price to say we both had 2 drinks too, so gave a nice tip as we were very happy with the service. Absolutley recommend, and will definatley be returning for another occasion or event :).

Ordered a takeaway on a Saturday evening, as we had a visitor from down south; starter and mains for 3, ready in 50 minutes and they were. Delicious and southern friend very impressed. Thanks so much, will visit in person next time!

Good food - if you like Indian (one of the best) friendly staff and a good selection on menu still do the old favorites

The service was slow the popadoms were not crispy and mango chutney was so thin and greasy and surprised that there wasent any onion salad as all the Indian restaurants that have normally gone too do the main course was bland and the sauces of the others was so smooth and options for gluten dairy egg was not catered for apart from an English dish was bland but because she was Hungary ate it so very disappointed

The food here is excellent for both takeaway and restaurant. However I would recommend eating in the restaurant as the service is outstanding and they will do everything they can to make your meal as lovely as possible which really adds to the experience. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. They have a great range of starters, sides, mains and desserts. I've not been until recently even though I'm local and loved it so much I have been three times in the last couple of weeks I will definitely visit again :)

My first visit and I was impressed. The service was excellent, the staff being very friendly. My meal was lovely, I don't like very hot food and the lamb dish I had was really tasty. Would recommend.

Takeaway order wasn't ready until approx 30 minutes later than stated. When it was finally ready it wasn't what I ordered and barely lukewarm in temperature. Not impressed.
