Coke was diluted with sparkling water and the food was horrible

Went here 1st time for my husband’s birthday dinner and enjoyed it. We had pav bhaji and paneer chilly for starters which were delicious. Main dishes were good apart from the aloo gobhi in which the gobhi was not cooked well. I had requested the staff to surprise my husband with the desserts we ordered which they did with birthday music, candles and gave him a complimentary dessert too. Though it was not very busy, the other tables dining there joined us to wish him. Overall it was a good experience.

Lovely place to have fantastic food. Hospitality is great. Authentic indian environment. Fabulous place to organise parties and events.

Excellent food. Bit of an industrial setting to the decor but relaxed and comfortable. Great breads and rotis. Really enjoyed the paratha. Nice to get well seasoned veg samosa in the proper pastry cases rather than the tiny filo pastry parcels of disappointment served in many Indian restaurants these days. Main dishes were good and a nice choice of Indian deserts. Our only issue was the price. £50 per head (including tips) was more than we expected.

Such a welcoming place to eat with outstanding service and delicious food. I really recommend a visit you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for all you do to support our regular group booking, much appreciated.

Very disappointed - we ordered chicken tikka starter which tasted of soap, on return to kitchen we were reassured it was cooked yesterday so should be fine? In all fairness they waived the charge but don’t expect to come to a restaurant and have re-heated day old chicken… The main wasn’t great either - with the lamb dish being so chewy we had to leave it and just soak up the sauce with the dry flakey naan. We were the only people in the restaurant - which after tasting the food wasn’t surprised about. All in all, we came here to avoid a taxi to a well-established curry house… in future will pay £20 more and get a taxi!

Lunch on a Saturday but we were the only table . We were served well by the waitress who explained the menu and gave us som good suggestions . We were the only people in the restaurant for the whole of the lunchtime period , maybe people don't know its there or perhaps some lunchtime specials would help with gaining more custom. I marked a 3 because some of the food was way too spicy for me

1st time eaters here We came here at 5pm we was the only people in here maybe a red flag straight away then our starter came out that was OK but the main I ordered a spicy lamb jalfrezi but I think a korma was more spicy lol the onion basis was mushy inside I really would not go again we left mor than we ate that says something for us as it takes a lot for me not to finish my meal completely

Chose Popadom as my leaving work meal for 20 of us and it did not disappoint! Bhakta the owner provided us with preorder sheet which enable us to chose from the entire menu. The service was seemless and the food fantastic. Was a memorable enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend!

Aesthetics in Popadom are top notch and the food is very very close to the authentic food back home.

We have at least one Indian dinner when we are in the UK ( about once a year for 30 years) The dinner we had earlier this month was among the best. I am not usually a fan of Keema Naan but this was a good quality lamb, lightly seasoned, and the naan bread was thinly rolled, the best. The coconut shrimp was out of this world. The menu has lots of vegetarian dishes and coastal seafood. I would love to go back.

Visiting Chatham from up North for a few days away and looking for somewhere to eat out for a nice meal. Googled restaurants in the area and came across Popadom. Decided to book a table for that evening. Food was absolutely delicious and very authentic. So tasty and the portion sizes were just right. Service was great and had a really enjoyable evening. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if we were in the area.

Authentic Indian restaurant, superb quality food with reasonably good size portions. Their food menu includes North Indian aswell as South Indian dishes. Excellent customer service. One of the finest Indian restaurant in Medway area.

Really good food. We tried several indian restaurants worldwide and this was one of the bests. The Palak Paneer was really good, also the Garlic Naan. Came here twice while our stay.

Pros The food is absolutely delicious 😁! The portion sizes are big. An adequate amount of rice accompanied the curry. The mango mohito is a must try. Deep menu with many offerings, to try at a later date. Cons For what it is, a bit pricey. Service was slow despite being sparsely populated.

Lovely customer service by the lovely waitress! Food presentation was excellent! Gol gappas were very yummy! For some reason I don't enjoy Indian food in UK restaurants. Today I had a bad craving for starters and visited this place with hubby. Ordered gol gappas, dhahi bhalla, tikki, masala coke, coke and tandoori chicken. Coke was nearly flat, I could bet it came from a big bottle which was opened couple of times, no fizzy taste at all. Tikkis taste bland and soggy, not crispy taste on top and completely flavourless. Dhahi bhalla with papri taste very dry, nothing like Indian flavour. My husband didn't like his chicken too. NOT VISITING THERE AGAIN AND NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU LIKE BLAND FOOD.

One of the best curries we have had for a long time! Friendly staff who guided us through the menu for dairy free options. The food was very tasty and unique, with a depth of flavour not often found without the oily stog. Go here you will not be disappointed.

Honestly how this place has so many stars is beyond me 😂 it's on average £5 per dish more expensive then Nazs just say. we was waiting for 1:30 for the food we ordered when the food came it was ok honestly nothing special at all but it wasn't bad. Drinks are a joke £4,20 for a tiny lemonade (half a can) £10 for 6 poppadoms 😂 which didn't even come with 1 TEA SPOON of chutney not joking!!! Meal cost over £100 for 3 dish's and 3 rices. I don't mind paying for a nice night and I go out very frequently but I'll never be returning to this place or will my family. Oh and the waitress whilst she wasnt directly rude she would lean across us at the table to put the plates down and trying to put multiple glasses down at once with one hand causing her to drop them on the table. In all I would say it was a 1 star night but the food was hot and edible so I'll give 2 stars but for ripping your customers off I'm taking 1 star away. Good way to go out of business

Unfortunately not as good as expected. Walked in with high hopes, we sat down and ordered drinks. We were welcomed by a waitress which was nice, she was really friendly however that was the only good thing i can say about the restaurant We had a look at the menu and ordered drinks and some Gol Guppe Shots as a starter. The drinks tasted fine although overpriced. The portion size of the Gol Guppe was laughable. 4 tiny Gol Guppe placed on top of a shot glass. For £5.95 i expected at least 6 reasonable sized Gol Guppe. After tasting them we finished our drinks and paid for our overpriced food and left. The Gol Guppe tasted stale and hard, the water supplied with them wasn't very tasty. Very unhappy with the price and portion size we received. Total price for 3 drinks (no alcohol) and 3 portions of Gol Guppe set me back just over £34. The food we received definitely didn't feel like it should have cost that much, they need to consider increasing the portion sizes or reducing the prices

The restaurant is a new build so a big soulless box of a place. But. The food was exceptional, and so was the service. Good fresh poppadoms and pickles. We skipped starters. The main courses were so tasty. Chicken Madras with a fiery sauce, but not overpowering. The freshest Tandoori Roti was one of the best Indian breads I've ever had. Soft yet crisp, hot and buttery. Superb. My wife had Lamb Palak Gosht. Essentially, Lamb in a piquant sauce with spinach. The Mint Paratha with it was another brilliant bread. Our servers were friendly, helpful and charming. We definitely recommend it.

New year's Eve went there with the family the food was good every one enjoyed their meals kids finished all their food very nice evening DJ spot on plenty bhangra and local very good experience and would recommend.

The food is just not Indian food. I think they forgot the spices in India. The food was too bland, tasteless and horrible. For the quality of food it’s overpriced. If google were to implement a negative rating system, they should start with this place. I would recommend canned tuna over this place.

I took my Girlfriend here for her birthday, your treated like one of the family as soon as you walk threw the door. The food was really tasty, they even played happy birthday to my gf when they found out it was her birthday and brought out a little cake for her which I thought was a nice touch, it was a nice surprise for the both of us. Would definitely go back if we're ever passing by. Lovely people. Thank you to all at the Popadom. 5 stars.

Oh my god, this is amazing! Me and a mate decided to try something new so we popped in ( haha get it ) and omg what an experience. I got butter chicken, it banged like a gun, mate got a tikka, slapped harder than chris brown. The naan was criso and flavourful, tried the masala coke, not for me but still a nice option to try. Deffo coming back again, save me a seat bruddas!

This is an absolute gem of an Indian restaurant within Chatham dockyard and possibly one of the best Indian restaurants in Kent we have been too. The restaurant is a nice open venue with lots of seating which feels open but also intimate when needed. The staff were very welcoming and attentive indeed quickly seating us, taking orders and presenting the food in a very timely manner. There is a very wide selection of starters, sides and main dishes covering Indian cuisine from North and South India to suit all. For the non alcoholics there are some very lovely mocktails too. Being vegetarian we started on the chilli paneer which tasted lovely with just the right amount of kick. For the mains we went for the chole bhature, masala dosa, Dal makhani and paneer makhani showing the mix of north and south Indian dishes. All of these were very well presented and everything tasted wonderfully authentic and full of flavour - fantastic indeed The manager Bhaktar was very happy to meet us and it was very thoughtful for him to take interest in our likes/dislikes and ensure that we were left feeling very satisfied. He has a great passion and energy for bringing genuine Indian cuisine to Kent and the whole of the UK. Overall, a brilliant restaurant that fully deserves five stars and we look forward to coming again and would recommend this to all without any hesitation!

We were there on Saturday After finishing our meal which okay but would say over priced and small portion sizes, 4 pieces of chocolate tasted horrible the mukwas side was closed. This was the second time we visited we were very disappointed.

We really enjoyed our meal. There is a wide selection of vegan meals and the waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend. It isn't a vegan restaurant btw - there are plenty of dishes for meat eaters too!

I have been eating Indian cuisine for some 40 years. My daughter and I had a take out from popadom this week and it was without doubt one of the best meals I have eaten. Outstanding.

One of the best authentic Indian restaurant in Medway. We tried chilli chicken with paneer naan and few chaats. Great taste. The curries here are custom made based on individual spice level. Great staff, Very friendly owners. Ample parking space.

Fantastic food and very consistent every time I have eaten here. All of the staff are very welcoming and conscientious, and always do their utmost to make you happy. I would definitely recommend the chilli cauliflower starter and the goan fish curry. Best curry in Medway!

Probably better for vegetarians, meat curry’s are limited choice and were not the best tasting. Staff was excellent, served a warm bottle of wine though which was poor.

Very nice food but so under staffed you have to wait ages for anything. Despite sitting there for over an hour waiting in a half empty restaurant, they still insist on serving takeaway orders. Shame because it has potential to be really good. Recommend a visit if you have plenty of time

0 Stars, FOOD POISONING, We all went home feeling sick & ended up with food poisoning, had to take a week off work as being violently sick all night, customer service was bad too, orders not received, had to chase them up & reorder drinks as they'd forgotten...

Went there to have some chat. As soon as went into the restaurant, we were greeted by a waitress who was dressed inappropriately for a restaurant and very unprofessional. Waitress are moody and rude. Not a place for families and so will definitely not be going there again. Took so long to get something on the table and one of the dish bhel puri was so soggy and not edible with the amount of spice. Such loud music spoils the ambience. Definitely not going there again and don’t recommend it.

Best Indian restaurant on earth ! They give a complementary dish and they even give a discount for NHS workers! The mango lassi is heavenly and all the food you get is freshly made and warm ... The hospitality is the best you can find anywhere. The owner himself visits the tables !If you are a true Indian you will LOVE this restaurant ...!

So we were on our travels and thought we would try this restaurant after reading the reviews on Google. Seemed good enough so decided to try it out for ourselves. As a restauranteur myself and being in the trade for over 3 decades, and having experienced fine dining to another level, I can tell you that this establishment is really lacking customer service. Firstly we were greeted by a waitress whom seemed to be the manageress but clearly was missing those skills. She asked if we wanted to be sat on the empty side of the restaurant or on the busier side? Wasn't sure how to take this, either way I would always like to be seated with other guests gives it a nice atmosphere, rather than feel like your in the naughty corner. Food was good nevertheless, however some dishes were over spiced and being of a South Asian ethnicity we can handle spice, even my children. Which seemed to be something of a amusement to the waitresses as I could hear them pointing at our table whispering that my daughter just ate the 'masala chips'. I mean that was spicy even to my taste buds so I'm only under the impression that this was done deliberately as we ordered this last minute to come with our starters. Why else would you have a chit chat about some fries? At some point during the meal a gentleman came over to ask how our meal was and that he hasn't seen us here before. This was nice of him in addition to being professional, noticed new customers, asking how their meal was, and what brought us to his 'Popadom'. Nevertheless you could clearly see he was the owner because of his greeting towards us... Nice big smile. At this point the so called Manageress (even if she is that) walked over to our table and says 'he's the owner'. I mean no need to say this, I'm sure I established that with his questions. More importantly to her should have asked how my meal was? Total unprofessionalism. After finishing our meal which tasted nice but would say over priced with limited amount of prices of meat and small portion sizes, we asked for the bill, at which point was served with a piece of paper which was the receipt with 4 pieces of chocolate. This put a very unpleasant taste of the food that we had eaten and decided that enough was enough and this visit would be the first and last visit to Popadom. As we left no acknowledgement of leaving no thank you or goodnight. As for the cocktail which was just about drinkable needs improvement along with the customer service in this establishment. I would recommend the owner to employ some new staff members whom are friendly... and have a Smile 😊!

Ridiculously overpriced. £6.50 a pint of beer £8.50 for a gin and tonic. Make you pay for Popadoms most Indian restaurants throw these in knowing you will buy a lot of food. Not here £2 per one. Just avoid or you will pay London prices in Chatham.

Excellent food. Very nice interior. Tastefully decorated. However: not very well trained staff( lots of loud giggling, private talking going on between staff, ). Plates served cold. Didn't like shape of serving dishes. Example: rice spilling all over table-very difficult to scoop out... No hot plates to keep food warm on a table. (not helped by cold tableware) Size of portions greatly reduced in comparison to other establishments...not that was a problem for my husband and me.

Best vegetarian menu and best tasting food this side of India

We recently had a family function and the food was at Popadom. Just brilliant. Excellent food, great service Menu is extensive and to a very high standard. Definitely fine Dining . Highly recommended.

Visited Popadom resturant for a Sunday lunch, it has a lovely ambience and was very clean and tidy. The food was so tasty and fresh, it was really authentic. We were asked if everything was okay a few times which was nice. It was abit expensive though.

Food was bland. Service was shocking (over 3 hours for 2 course’s), Cost a fortune for something I could of done better with a microwave. Won’t be going back.

Very tasty food Good selection of authentic Indian food

Good atmosphere and friendly staff. However the food have let us down. We ordered prawns curry, lamb josh, potatoes, fried fish, rice and basket of breads. The taste of the curries were cooking from pastes. There were no taste from the authentic curries spices and fragrance. The main courses portions were too small and expensive charge. Lastly, the dining plates were awful the cutlery kept sliding about on the plates. It wasn’t a good experience overall.

Over priced !!!!!!! .. £8.50 for 2 lemonades.. £1.75 a poppadom.really!!!!!. Portions are quite small considering the price. Did I mention the prices. We definitely won't be going back. I would just like to add we go to many Indian restaurants so we know what we should be paying.. Definitely a Rip off..

Hey highly disappointed after the previous good reviews food was OK nothing special.certainly not acceptable for the £50 price tag then another 5 on top for delivery food was bland and definitely not worth the 5 start price tag it arrived hot and on time but the onion bhajis tasted over cooked and even burnt as if done in old oil.vegetables for the coconut curry I could swear are frozen and portions are very large, one rice and curry as well as nan would have done both me and my partner. sorry to say I won't be ordering again left feeling robbed

My boyfriend and I were stranded in Gillingham while on our way to Margate due to Storm Eunice. We chose Popadom for dinner as it had great reviews online and were not disappointed! Delicious dosa, tikka masala and madras. The staff were lovely and we had a fantastic eve.

Food way too spicy to eat and enjoy, my whole mouth was in pain. One dimensional taste, not the finely balanced complex taste you expect from Indian cuisine. Just super hot chilli, nothing else. Dal tasted burnt. Nice staff and clean place. But maybe restaurant was empty because the food is too spicy to eat. Deserts really nice.

Food great, drinks expensive and service very slow

Went after attending go karting, restaurant itself was not bad. We had to request sauces 4 times before there was enough for it to be shared between the 4 of us attending. Food was amazing no fault to be found. The staff could be more attentive, our order was taken over 3 times, the lady kept going to attend others and do other things. Food was amazing therefore would recommend a visit.

An okay Indian restaurant with a better than normal drink portfolio.

Coming from London / Birmingham we were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the food was! Having a high standard, this place definitely lived up to the quality, taste and value! The staff were very friendly and the manager was super chatty too! We enjoyed the paneer chilli fry, masala chips, bhindi, and tarka dahl a lot!

Legitimately a must visit restaurant for Indian food lovers! I love the service at the place and the chef is so friendly with the guests and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place. I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel compelled as the food is absolutely exquisite. bon appétit :)
