We called in to Pop in café early on Saturday morning expecting to find it relatively quite, thus allowing us to get in, get breakfast and get off, unfortunately the café was heaving and the only available tables were outside. One would think this was an inconvenience but the weather was delightful and the atmosphere given by the market stall owners setting up only added to the experience. There had to be a reason for a full café at 7:30 on a Saturday morning and upon receiving our food that question was answered. Sausages Lincolnshire perfectly cooked and quality, bacon quality, eggs spot on, mushrooms fresh, black pudding cooked perfectly and along with the usual sundries made for a cracking way to start the day. A superb café that merits a five star review

Out standing food all cooked to order not from a hot cabinet as I have said good honest food Staff give all those people that go into the pop inn a warm welcome and the banner they have with some of the market people is like being at a good sitcom show

I can’t lie this place was awful. The food was really slow and not worth the wait. I had a breakfast, can’t complain about price but you pay for what you get. I had ordered takeaway breakfasts aswell for those still at the holiday let, these went in the bin. The egg wasn’t fully cooked, the hash brown soggy and my toast came about 20mins after finishing my breakfast! You live and learn but there are better cafes in the town.

Good choice for breakfast as you pick as many items you want from the menu and pay accordingly. On Market Days Thursday and Saturday you can sit outside as well. Pop In is a good honest cafe and can recommend.

This small, very affordable and friendly cafe is pretty much 'open all hours'. Their friendly welcome and helpfullness is outstanding, as are their breakfasts and hot drinks. Something that must be worth a mention is that during the Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal during November, this little community minded cafe provided a continuous supply of free tea and coffee to the Poppy Sellars standing on a cold corner of the market place selling poppies. A favourite with everyone, you can eat in or out. Highly recommended.

Busy on market day as its on the square. Food is ok and pretty cheap. Has the advantage of being the only café that opens at 7:30 (other than the recently opened Costa which isn't doing very well).

8am before work breakfast. The breakfast menu is pay per item with your choice and it’s very reasonable. I paid £5.50 for a proper coffee plus 7 items. Lincolnshire sausage, bacon, hash browns, fried egg, baked beans, toast, mushrooms. All cooked fresh. They aren’t premier ingredients but they are all good and tasty. No complaints from me at all. Pleasant friendly staff and a clean cafe. I’ll definitely do this again when in Horncastle at this time of day.

Myself and 3 colleagues were passing through to Lincoln and stumbled upon this little cafe. Staff were very friendly, the food was all cooked fresh and cooked beautifully. We had 4 large breakfasts / brunches and 4 cans of soft drink and it came in under £20 As we travel this route annually, we will definitely be popping back in next year. (Excuse the pun)

Friendly staff and locals and we liked it so much we had brunch (All Day Breakfasts - 7 pieces for two plus drinks for less than £10) on the way to and from our holiday location on the coast.

Place was incredibly busy and they needed an extra staff member 2 could just not cope but they were friendly and amusing and we were not in a hurry . Tea and coffee were good too. Would go again when in town.

If you are after a good traditional greasy spoon type cafe, the sort of thing we all grew up with, where you get a friendly welcome, decent sized mugs and a good plateful then this is the place to come. It delivers exactly what it says on the tin and doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Food was good value and tasty and the cafe was clean. Going back to try the breakfast soon!

Having got up at stupid o'clock to take our daughter to Horncastle I thought a treat of a cooked breakfast was in order, and what a good value breakfast it was, choose any 5 items from a long list including chips (which I manfully resisted), costing £2.95, or you could have 7 items for £3.45, or 9 for a bit more I cant remember exactly how much.

Overlooking Horncastle marketplace, The Pop In Cafe reminded me of that cafe in "Last of the Summer Wine". It is what you expect an independent English cafe to look like. There are around ten tables and the menu is pretty extensive, including light snacks, drinks and full meals. It appears to have a good number of loyal local customers.I ordered sausages, mashed potato, onion gravy and garden peas - a meal which cost me £3.20. The microwave plays a key role in food preparation here so my meal was piping hot. For the price it was excellent value for money. The two women working in the cafe were friendly and welcoming. I felt my custom was appreciated.

If you aren't fussy about fine dining and the latest hipster food trends, if you're waiting for a bus that isn't coming for another hour (regular occurrence out here) and you just want a good old honest cuppa and a bit of comfort food, this is the place to go. Always friendly and cheerful service, cheap as chips and seemingly always open!

Cheap and cheerful greasy spoon type of place. If you just want a cheap cuppa and bite to eat when you missed the bus and have an hour to wait, this is perfect as you can see the bus stop from the window. I had tea and a cooked breakfast with change from a fiver, and the ladies couldn't have been more friendly. Obviously if you're looking for haute cuisine this isn't for you, but it does the job perfectly for those who just want to "pop in" :)

After a ten-mile hike round the countryside adjoining Horncastle we were too late for a pub lunch, so we discovered this little "greasy spoon"-type café in the Market Place area.We were given a cheery welcome and ordered a very welcome large mug of tea for starters. We were so dehydrated that we ordered a second one, too. There was a large choice of food from a basic English breakfast upwards and we opted for (1) liver and onions, vegetables and mash and (2) cottage pie, mash and peas. These dishes were hot and tasty. As a dessert we chose (1) bread and butter pudding and (2) spotted dick, both served with piping hot custard.Though the surrounds were very basic and dirty plates were left to linger a bit too long on the tables, we were well satisfied with this experience.

Food was really good. We had gluten free fish and chips with curry sauce, a vegetarian burger and a regular fish and chips. Portions were huge and food was good. Service and atmosphere weren't the best, so let down the experience a little. Reasonable price.

Gravy & stuffing was delish chips were nice rest of the food wasnt the best but after paying for the food you are put off eating it by the smell of wet dogs which seem to be more in there than people! I dont agree with dogs being let in a place food is served but if needed maybe have a seperate place for the diners with dogs!

We went specifically to this venue for breakfast. We ordered different breakfasts and made some changes to one of them with the helpful counter staff. The tea in the tea pot was cold and we took it back for a replacement hot tea pot. The breakfast was brought to us by a member of staff who did not smile or speak. Having ordered extra well done bacon we were surprised to note that it certainly hadn't been even well done. The plates were cold and so was half of the breakfast, the rest of it cooling rapidly. The toast and prepacked butter were placed on the top of the breakfast and we had to use our fingers to try and get them off the top, even though there was nowhere to put them (have they never heard of side plates)? All in all, very poor. Customer care is clearly not a priority.

Can't begin to say how bad this pub was, miserable landlady and landlord and the worst food I have ever not eaten. I say not eaten as we didn't get through even a quarter of the plate of awful food we were offered. My husband said the beer was okay but please don't bother with the food it REALLY ISNT WORTH IT.

Called to eat this year to find it is the middle of being demolished, inflatable bar at the rear at present, could not get answer to if it will be rebuilt, it was a spit and sawdust place but the roasts and other food was good, just hope they do put in a new pub with a very similar menu etc, time will tell.
