This is a great little place. Relaxed atmosphere good beer, wine & cocktails. Food is bar snacks during the day and local guest food vans at the weekend. You need to follow them on social media to find all the details, but works well.

Another Hidden Gem in Pwllheli overlooking the harbour. It's fantastic views of sunsets 🌇 could well be unrivalled giving the setting.... my view only of course. Bar is really well maintained, and has a modern vibe with loads of outside seating on two levels, the beers are plentiful too, loved the IPA they have on tab "Atlantic", tasted great. Note my pictures were of a grey and miserable day haha 😄

One of the best views in Pwllheli, hidden away - will worth it. Plenty of local beers, big brewery beers, wines and loads of soft drinks for the kids.

This is a great place food amazing and setting even better.It’s a shame the place since covid only doing takeout a few days a week .It odd as everywhere else open I think it’s a can’t be bothered attitude and maybe they should give up this place to give someone else a chance to give Pwllheli a chance for another eatery that it needs rather than anther takeaway Could be amazing restaurant and wasted on a take out because they can’t be bothered to open .

The delivery food smelled bad. We tasted every dish, they all inedible. Do not bother. Eating food cooked here in kitchen is disappointment.

Had to drive through estate to get to restaurant but worth it food was great staff nice service good and lots of food look at opening times they changeb through the week fri/sat open at 2PM best going then as have to queue up at night,well we did going in afternoon in future toilets a bit yuk but only thing Derek ✔⛱

Visited Pontoon again for a birthday meal with the family and were once again treated to lovely meal. Because the kids were with us (and because they were fully booked ) we went early and it worked out well. Even though it was just after 6pm there were quite a few patrons, some at the bar and some checking out the menu before ordering their meals.We were able to eat without any rush and the atmosphere was as chilled as usual.I had the Chicken Chilmole - chicken thighs in a smoky sauce (with a bit of a kick ! ) with rice which comes highly recommended. Between us we also had the Steak and Chorizo Chilli, the meatballs, the burger, pizza for the kids, nachos, lamb if fact I think we tried most of the menu between us. All passed the taste test with five stars.I even managed a sweet - an affogato, vanilla icecream witha shot of espresso and amaretto -delicious (though I would have liked the coffee to be a bit warmer to have a melting effect on the ice cream )We've been here several times and are never disappointed. The food is always good and the atmosphere is so relaxed.

The location may seem strange when you are trying to find the place but once you've found it it all makes sense. The view out over the harbour is worth it. The restaurant itself is cutely decorated to transport you away to Mexico and the food is delicious. It's well worth a visit.

We have a few places on our Pen Llyn bucket list and PONTOON was one of them, been trying to get in there for ages but always fully booked well in advance so that tells you all you need to know, its popular so must be good. This restaurant specialises in Indian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern cuisine.Well we finally managed a table on Wednesday 25-Sep-19 at 6.30. Arrived early as expected it would be rammed, had a relaxing drink in the bar area after a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar who also confirmed out table reservation – Happy Days. The whole place looked fabulous with lovely driftwood and all sorts or murals everywhere an extensive drinks list with cocktails I had a Mojito which was lovely my not so adventurous family had mango juice and orange juice, what a lovely small place overlooking the Pwllheli marina and it was high tide another result, so looked lovely. Reluctantly we moved from the comfy leather armchairs to our table which had our name on it. All the surrounding tables looked booked as they had names on them as well. Studied the menu which was small and interesting and changed regularly, meaning that everything was home cooked. Our waitress was delightful and informative and we ordered and awaited the culinary delights. We had the Half Nachos to share a bargain at £7.50 and shared this between the four of us; Mains I was torn between the Puerto Vallarta crispy Prawn Tacos or the Himalayan Venison Curry both £14 again a bargain – our friendly waitress suggested the Venison (great choice) and was gorgeous; My wife had the Butter Chicken Curry which was equally delicious; my son had the tuna and sweetcorn naan pizza which he thoroughly enjoyed and my daughter had the MFC Tacos Crango’s Mexican fried chicken etc which she also thoroughly enjoyed. We ordered it with a bowl of mixed fries which included skinny and sweet potato fried to share more than enough for all of us to enjoy. We could also watch the small team of chef’s beavering away on our ordered in the open plan kitchen also a great sign and justified the 5 hygiene rating.Highly recommended will definitely go again – as there are more delights to try on the menu and as it changes on a regular basis it may have to be a regular must go to place. Thanks for the quality and well-presented superbly cooked fresh food. Came for family meal. Enjoyed meal although had better Mexican and felt it was overpriced. Good choice of local beers. Enjoyed but not sure I’ll be back.

Unless you know this area, you would not know about this eaterie . It’s hidden, the building is meh.... but the views are gorgeous and the food is FANTASTIC!! and I mean fantastic!!! Again a young family act bringing excellent food and friendly service. They change the menu frequently and use their travels abroad to bring unique menus to the restaurant. The portions are huge!! And really reasonably priced. Plus, of course, they source locally. Well done guys. I would highly recommend.

My favorite place for a drink, for lunch or for dinner but book early. The food is so good that you have to book well in advance so plan well.The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive. We love the atmosphere and there is plenty around for the kids to do. Nothing pretentious about the place, they welcome you in shorts or trousers/dress and I've even turned up in a wetsuit and wasn't turned away.Get involved in the new lunch menu too, the burritos are the best I've had with a side of chips with the garlic mayo. Nom!If the tide is in, take the crab line for the kids and enjoy some peace and quiet. :)

This restaurant is an absolute gem. The venue has a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful views. Service is excellent and as for the food - it is fabulous! exciting and harmonious flavours. Portions are huge, lots of choice on the food and drinks menus. We always leave very satisfied and will definitely be back again (and again).Highly recommend this restaurant!

This was my second visit to Pontoon and yet again I wasn't disappointed. The food is always top quality, so tasty and fresh and the presentation fits perfectly to the style of food. I love the use of local suppliers, something which I value very highly. I also love that you just wouldn't expect to find such a hidden gem tucked away at the side of the harbour with views over Snowdonia.

We have visited every month since reopening for the season. Pontoon just gets better with new innovative dishes on offer , lovely professional helpful staff and a fabulous ambiance. Pontoon is still my very favourite place , fully recommend.

We went for lunch. The menu is very limited at lunch time but the burritos we ordered were excellent. Would have loved to try the exciting evening menu but unfortunately was fully booked for the next two weeks. Book ahead!

We visited pontoon this week after booking months ago it definitely didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing, we ordered all of the starters to share which were all delicious! The chilli was so tasty and the chicken tacos equally as good! An excellent evening in this quirky unassuming restaurant. The food definitely delivered!

We were advised to try this by local friends and what a treat. We took the opportunity to visit for lunch as we had heard its very busy at night ( so we’ve booked for later this month!) we had a great margarita super cowboy beans and beef burritos. A great find very friendly staff and so helpful.

Everything about our meal at Pontoon was fab, such an unassuming building but absolutely nails all the things that really matter - we're a family of 4 and they were lovely to the kids from the moment we walked in, loved the handwritten placename reserving our table , service was brilliant and the food was GORGEOUS. My husband has done his fair share of travelling and eating and it's gone up in his top most memorable meals which is high praise indeed from him. We just loved it, I was still thinking about the flavours when I woke up the next morning which tells you everything. I'd eat there every night when we're in Pwllheli if we could get a table - we ate at 6p.m on a tuesday and it was busy even then!

Absolutely fantastic. Even the fussy youngest gobbled his naan based pizza. The beetroot dip was like nothing I've had before and the chilli con carne an amazing concoction of flavours. We also loved the palomino pale ale and two islands ice cream. All surrounded by pieces of art made by the owners' father - including the furniture. Great service, a knowledgeable bar tender, marina view.

We were lucky enough to get a cancellation here. We have been trying to book here for ages.

I want to highly recommend this restaurant as it is fab, the food is I would say Mexican street, the flavors just send your taste buds haywire, love it, love it, love it. due to the outstanding food you will need to book at least two to three weeks before as they are seriously busy.

Family meal for 4 on holiday. Checked out on trip advisor before we arrived and reserved a table. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, menu just big enough to have plenty of choice but not overwhelming. In short, everything was fabulous—amazing butter chicken curry, tacos as good as Southern California, the list goes on... great variety of bottled ales at the bar. Price very reasonable indeed. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and overlooking the marina. Will come again (but for lunch) if we have time.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here this week. The nachos, tacos and pork were amazing! Lovely local beers and other drinks. Staff are very friendly and there is such a lovely atmosphere overlooking the harbour. Would definitely recommend to others. You can park outside. I would recommend booking a table. We will be back in the future.

Visited Pontoon a few days ago. What a find!! If the surroundings are more important to you then Pontoon is not for you. BUT if you want really good/tasty/different food in a relaxed, casual, rustic, quirky atmosphere with very friendly staff then you will love it. The number of options may be limited but this usually means they are done well. They certainly are here. The menu apparently changes weekly, sometimes twice a week depending on what is fresh /in season. SO the website pics may not be the dishes on the menu. But don't worry, there is something for all. Portions are generous and not overpriced. Choice of drinks/cocktails is good. Booking advised...we have already booked for our second and third visits in a few weeks time. OH!... and don't be put off because it is out of the way.

Amazing food in a lovely atmosphere. Definitely draws you out to try new tastes and dishes and everything is delicious. Recommend the Avacado and tomato ice cream!!

Stopped by just for a beer on the way home to our rental property. Lovely location sat outside and soaked up the view of the harbour.

Visited this place yet again and tried something else on the menu. Don’t worry about what you order because every meal is out of his world with flavour. So unusual. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Second time In one week but remember to book weeks in advance beacause they are always fully booked. I believe oked three weeks before. Menu changes constantly but at the moment, the lamp balls are amazing. But just try anything. Thank you Anna.

Whilst on holiday a party of 8, all family (varied ages 9 - 78) visited to celebrate my brothers birthday. The food was excellent, refreshingly different and delicious. We all had starters and mains with some "two islands" ice cream that was also excellent, for desert. The cocktail menu deserves a gold star mention as they were all really good - my favourite "Pontoon Margarita". A return is definitely on the cards. See you soon and many thanks to you all.

Another visit and another super meal. The three of us went there tonight and all enjoyed our meals. We shared a plate of nachos between us for a starter, lovely. Then I had the burger in a tortilla, wife had the Hake and son had a medley of the menu ( that's another story - ex-staff ! )

Pre booked a table for 7pm knowing how popular the restaurant is. Fab mexican food with cocktails. Service was excellent and reasonably priced. Definitely recommended

We visited last night and had an exquisite meal. Everything was freshly produced, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! One of our group is vegan and was completely blown away by the food and voted that it could become her last supper. Do not be put off by the approach driving in, the setting of the restaurant is idyllic and the restaurant is quirky with attentive staff. Absolutely not to be missed!

Reminds me of a proper Mexican Cantina; unpretentious, relaxed-almost café style-dinning (what a cantina should be like), serving delicious fresh food. Our group was a mix of vegetarians and meat-eaters and everyone loved it. The cocktails were incredible too - one of the best Margaritas I've had. We've already booked for the next time we're down in Wales!

We have just visited Pontoon on New Years Day night with our two children and it was absolutely fantastic, warm friendly staff and owners and the food was first class. The Mexican Bean with chorizo starter was delicious and the fried chicken tacos were the tastiest thing I have had in a long time. All the food was so fresh, tasty and original and the ambience is just right. We would strongly recommend a visit especially if the have the Chocolate with Chilli and Cinnamon tart on!!

Last night before they closed for Xmas. Table booked but restaurant contacted us to suggest we went earlier as they had a large party due (so great service before we'd even arrived.

Pontoon once again surpassed all expectations. If you’re looking for a restaurant that is welcoming, with relaxed vibes located by the harbour and incredible mexican cuisine - this is a must! The entire party were both stuffed and content!

To start we had nachos which are amazing, and I would recommend these to everyone. The home made humous was delicious as well.

We went to Pontoon last night as a birthday treat for my partner. I booked the table at the end of September because I know how busy they are. The food is always excellent and they serve great cocktails. My companion had the Chicken Adobado Burrito and I had the Butter Chicken Curry and we shared a bowl of Sweet Potato Fries. The curry and burrito were delicious and filling. Despite our best efforts we couldn't quite finish the fries, they are so moreish. There is always a chilled and happy atmosphere here and the staff are attentive and lovely. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Will be back again soon.

The food was fresh and authentic, excellent flavour and presentation. Perhaps a little expensive for the size of portions, but the quality over-rode this. The menu was fairly small, but it was original and imaginative. The home-made tortillas were the best I have ever tried. We found the environment a little noisy, but it may just have been that it was a Saturday night and that we were eating in the bar area.

8 of us went tonight for a meal and it was utterly amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever had a meal where every single fork-full was a taste experience. Absolutely ace guys keep up the brilliant work! A solid 10/10.

Chanced upon Pontoon Pwllheli as a result of a google search for restaurants in the Pwllheli area, and I am so glad we did. We were very fortunate to drop in on a Sunday night and find a table for two - reading all the other reviews I’d definitely book ahead next time. Once you find the place (follow the directions through the housing estate - you’re on the right path!) you’re in for a serious treat. Greeted at the bar and offered drinks to take through to your table, you’re then seated in a fabulously quirky dining room with views of the marina and Snowdonia beyond and surrounded by driftwood furniture and original artwork. The menu changes regularly with the seasons and availability of local produce (and also the chef’s inspiration I’m sure) and the great thing is that there isn’t seven pages of options as can sometimes be the case! Everything looks and sounds inviting - from the starters that are great to share to the mains. We shared a starter of muhammara dip with warm flatbread and the tastes were sublime - chilli and cumin heat with pomegranate sweetness and the texture of walnuts - just superb! To follow we had a plate of Crango’s black bean nachos and I had a steak and chorizo chile. Both dishes were absolutely superb - chilli with mince will never be the same again compared to real pieces of pulled steak, chorizo, wild rice and sour cream (amongst other toppings). We also had some sweet potato fries between us, but to be honest most were left as our eyes were obviously bigger than our stomachs (on this rare occasion!) once we’d finished dining, we retired to the fabulous bar area where we were treated to a couple of wonderful margarita’s (with chilli if you desire!) and left to soak up the atmosphere and the artwork. One of the nicest things was after service, all the family and the kitchen and waiting staff all got together for dinner together in the bar - just a great atmosphere and lovely to see a family business thriving as this really deserves to! Thanks for a wonderful evening and we’ll definitely be back

Recommended by local well worth a visit, but very popular so need to book. Location on marina is different but it's the food that is the star. Beautifully cooked interesting and different Mexican style food. Great staff service friendly relaxed. Amazing cocktails especially local gins. Highly recommend.

It's rare to find food which is made with such passion and quality, especially around Pwllheli but this place is a real star.

This place was recommended and it lived up to what people have said..... Real quirky place.... Colourful... Super friendly staff.. Excellent service... The food was stunning... Tasty delicious and piping hot... Could not fault anything... The view is superb too!! Loved my reserved table sign too...thank you pontoon for a super evening! Will definitely return

We heard about Pontoon from people who regularly visit the area, who advised that we book in advance as the restaurant can get busy. We did and it was.
