Wonderful, warm welcome. We didn't book but the chef was amazing as two of us were vegan and there was nothing vegan on the menu but he said no problem i will see what I have. He whipped up a great vegan curry! It might be useful to write on the menu that vegan options are possible so as not to put off future customers. We will definitely go back.

Pub food was great and very plentiful. The pub staff were friendly and the service fast. It was blowing a gale and lashing down when we arrived so not so many people around. It looks as if it can be busy on warm days. I got the feeling that they working their socks off to make this a pub you would choose to go too rather than fall upon on a wet day, as we would.

We booked dinner to eat here for a big group of friends expecting to eat and have a few drinks. We were referred to a c**Nats by locals in the pub and by a bar tender when we walked in making us feel completely unwelcome. Despite this we still bought a drink and went and had it outside whilst we waited for our table to be ready. Upon asking if we could go sit at our table they rudely told one person from our group that if they really wanted to sit down they could instead of showing us where our table was as we were in a big group. We do not know why we were treated like this maybe because we were young adults or because a few of us we not from the area nevertheless it was awful service and we left promptly. This ruined our plans for the night as everywhere else to eat dinner was quite a far walk. If you are a group of younger people I would not recommend eating or drinking here.

Went expecting a quiet lunch but unfortunately kids running about, screaming . A lot of noise from bar area as well. Went to toilet and was surprised to see someone vaping in the bar!. Plus point, food was good. Minus points ,as mentioned plus car park is rough and unsurfaced, and chairs had no padding.

Went in to book Sunday lunch. Steve was very accommodating and said he would get chicken in as that was my preference, even though it wasn’t in the menu. On Sunday the family went there. Friendly service, very accommodating to those that were vegan or had food allergies too. The waiting staff were very good and even brought out ice cream with a candle for my birthday. Food was great and it was a very nice ambience. We shall be back. Thoroughly recommend the pond barn. Thank you Steve and the team.

Just popped down for a quick beer and felt a little hungry! So grabbed an Angus cheeseburger and literally it was the best burger I've ever eaten! Full of cheese, amazing home made burger sauce, home-made half pound patty that was full of flavour. Full amount of fresh salad to accompany a sour dough bap! All in all an amazing burger to go with my after work pint! If you're in the area be sure to give the Pond Barn a visit as there's lots of other great items on the menu.

The pond barn has gone through a few hands over the years and some would say it has declined . However with a new owner and clear vision of how to transform its old image Mark and his team are surely achieving that . Good family pub with traditional pub food and happy with loyalty card on Wednesday is proving quite popular. Anyway meat balls and spaghetti off the menu was good as was the steak and ale pie the week before .

My first visit to the Pond Barn in years. It's changed a lot and for the better. I had the roast beef, and it was lovely. Melted in the mouth. Yorkshire puddings weren't hard and just full of air life you often find. Roasties were spot on. Cauliflower cheese was ceamy. Good variety of vegetables. I also asked for no parsnips. Not a parnsip in sight. Thank you! I tried the sticky toffee pudding, and it was delicious. Worth every penny. Staff were friendly. Thank you to the chefs and staff.

Our party of 9 (ages ranging from 4 to seniors) plus two dogs had an enjoyable lunch in the outside area, where we had one large table to ourselves. The menu is based on traditional pub grub, and ranges from sandwiches through to 3-course meals. The sandwiches which my wife and I enjoyed were generously proportioned and served in white or brown bloomer bread, plus salad. The other members of the party all enjoyed their meals, including the two children choosing from the children's menu, and commented on how tasty the various meals were.Service was good, with no delays on a fairly quiet Tuesday lunchtime, and topped off with a delivery of free biscuits for our two dogs and the other dogs in the outside area!A wide range of drinks are available at pub prices, and the choice of indoor/outdoor tables allowed plenty of opportunities and choices for those arriving when we were there. The landlord came out and asked very politely for our 7-year-old birthday boy to refrain from kicking a ball next to our table, as it could be off-putting for other diners, which was fair comment (and handled well)Five different main courses plus two children's meals plus two sandwiches plus drinks resulted in a bill of less than £100 . . . good value, good food, good service.

Reading the menu there are starters, mains and deserets avaiable. You have to state at the begining of placing the order how many courses you would like to save £1.90 ?If you have starter, then your mains and then decide you have room for a desert because you didnt state it at the beginning it will cost you £1.90 more.Waitress was flippent, we were told we would have to wait to place our order as she didnt want to overload the kitchen with food tickets. All were tasty and well presented and accompanied by a selection of colourful fresh vegetables. Desserts followed, these too were great. There was a buzz of happy atmosphere all around and people were clearly enjoying being able to meet and eat together even outside on a windy day. Came here on the 12th April after lockdown was lifted. Waited over 49 minutes before I was even offered a drink then told the waitress would bring a menu. Waited and asked another 2 times for the menu before I got one. Ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas. Didn’t say the peas where minted. Took another 45 minutes to get my meal by which time the other owner had come in, had two drinks, gone of somewhere, come back and been served again. Before I got my meal. The junior partner did apologise eventually and offer to buy me a drink. But still arrived at 18:10 for an 18:00 table and ended having my food at 20:35.

We were staying in our motorhome on a site a few miles away & had pre-booked for the Sunday 12th July, as we'd visited a few times whenever we'd stayed on the site nearby previously. This is a very dog friendly pub, with typical but very good, pub grub. We were told we could book 12-3pm. 3-6pm & 6-9pm - we chose the first slot, and with fingers crossed re the weather, booked for the garden area. We had to put our names & contacts down for track & trace, & use sanitiser and after being shown to the table by the pond, we had nothing but top service. The food was excellent & plenty of it (we chose lamb) - the drinks lovely & ice cold & as a bonus, 2 deserts for the price of one. Cannot fault it, and we felt extremely safe re the precautions taken by the pub & covid. We have rebooked the motorhome site for July 2021, and we shall once again be returning to the Pond Barn Inn

Down for a family visit so decided to visit this pub as last time we visited it was not a positive experience. At the entrance gate is hand sanitiser and a pad to write your details down for Trace & Trace purposes. Sat in the garden but took a long time to get served the first drink even though only 4 other people in the garden at the time. They need to have a dedicated person or persons stationed in the garden organising the drinks side of things as lots of people were sat outside. What we did notice was lots of people arriving and walking straight into pub without hand sanitising nor putting their details down for the Track & Trace purposes so a big fail on that front. Need to get the waiting staff properly trained to be alert to customers with empty glasses as customers cant go to the bar themselves. Several waiting staff serving all the tables rather than a dedicated member of staff to cover a set amount of tables. If customers are paying cash, would also help if the waiting staff asked that and took the cash for drinks at point of ordering rather than bringing the drinks, taking the money, going back in to get change and then returning to the table with change. If the change is brought back when drinks are delivered to the table will save a lot of time so other customers could be served rather than having to wait so long. Also no one on cleaning duty for door handles nor toilets and nothing available to wipe them down with yourself. Wont say it was a totally negative experience but plenty of room for improvement. Need to have someone monitoring the Track & Trace logging as clearly not being adhered to by quite a few customers.

My Wife and I went to the Pond Barn on Christmas Day for lunch at 1pm my Wife having booked it by paying a £65 deposit on 20/09/19.On arrival I told my Wife to go on ahead whilst I parked the car in a side road, as the car park was full.My Wife tried to enter by a side entrance but was obstructed by a lot of very loud people, who obstructed her from entering the resturant. We met up by the front entrance, we went to the bar and told them we had arrived, we were pointed to a very small table by the entrance with only one chair, one of the waitresses rushed round to find a chair. We finally sat down, after about 20 minutes a waitress asked us if we had the blinis, she plonked a small plate with two teaspoon sized blinis, after another 20 minutes she came back with 2 half bint beer glasses, with a fresh prawn hooked on each glass, in the bottom of each glass was a grey mess about an1'' deep with crayfish? and a couple of lettuce leaves sticking out. Then after half hour waiting for our main meal, I got up an asked, had they forgotten us, we were then presented with two large plates, one plate had one roast potato and broken fatty bits the other had two, two small pieces of turkey and shredded gammon which was dryed out, together with a yorkshire. Then they put down a bowl containing the vegetables, swede, brussell sprouts, and carrots, all swimming in a bowl of water. We also had two square very hard pieces of what appeared to be toast, (we assumed it was stuffing) We asked the waitress what it was, she said '' I will ask the chef as I don't no,'' needless to say she did not come back. The Manager did finally come up, and said he understood we were not happy whereupon my Wife burst into tears, as it was far removed from the Christmas Day meal she had anticipated, the Manager was very apologetic, he suggested that he could do something with the bill, as My Wife did not eat any of the Main meal at all, I did eat mine as I was hungry but it was the worst Christmas dinner I have ever had but as it was christmas day I knew we could not go any where else.My Wife saw the Manager at the bar and offered to pay for the two drinks we had (a glass of wine and a pint) whereupon he refused to take the money he apologised again, and we left did not stay for the dessert or coffee..In conclusion by reading this, if it stops you from having a Christmas Day nightmare it has been worth doing this reveiw.

Lovely food after the poor restaurant had a power outage...well done on getting back on track so quickly! Food was excellent but as the serving area is a bit cramped, other diners waiting in line simply did not move out of the way so getting the food onto our plates was a hassle. Negotiating the tables with plates of food was awkward as a wheelchair user was seated in the middle of the main gangway. Once we were able to get back to our table and eat, the food was rather cold but we all still thought it very tasty. Waiting and bar staff were all superb. Will definitely visit again but may try a little earlier to avoid the ‘rush’ of annoyingly selfish people who refused our polite requests to get to the serving points.

It’s ok for a quick drink, parking is limited. It’s a bit soulless. The staff were cheerful and there was plenty of tables etc. I’d say it more like a holiday camp bar. Children, slot machines etc. We didn’t eat there but many were and it looked fine.

I've been here twice this week as I'm staying near by, the first visit I had Hunters chicken the chicken was done to perfection succulent and juicy sometimes I have experienced overdone chicken making it dry but not here. Today I had fish and chips the fish was very tasty and the batter crispy yet once again it was perfect and so lovely. Everybody was very friendly without being intrusive don't you just hate when asked if everything is ok when you have food in your mouth but not here. Highly recommended and next time I'm down here this will be my go to place. Keep up the good work

Only giving 2 stars purely because the food was ok but the black burger buns are a bit odd.

We visited here on the off chance, mainly because everywhere else was booked. Myself and my wife both ordered pie of the day which was steak and ale.

'The Pond Barn' we camp locally in Wittering twice a year, and have been coming to the Barn for a number of years now, it has never given me the impression that it welcomes 'out of towners' and i was hoping that the new ownership would change that feeling, but despite the new owner improving the front entrance, i am still not sure this is for the family, three builders backsides hanging over the food counter, and kids climbing over the walls and tables would be enough to put most people off from staying to long, if at all, There is a curry night on Tuesdays, but this was a touch disappointing, tasteless and luke warm (heated up in microwave) and not very pleasant. i really want the new owner to do well, it is a great looking pub, with loads of potential, but i do get the impression this is a local housing estates local boozer, and not geared up for outsiders, but i hope i am wrong, so pop in for a cold pint of San Miguel and make your own mind up. If you ladies out there (or men, what ever floats your boat) want to view the array of builders bums hanging over the food counter, then they seem to start arriving around 4 to 5pm! Good Luck.

Lovely afternoon at The Pond Barn celebrating mums 80th. Starting outside on the deckied area overlooking the pond there is a lot of room to accommodate friends and family. The buffet that was provided inside later was varied and all were catered for including vegetarian. Nothing was too much trouble for the helpful staff.

What used to be a nice atmospheric country style pub has recently changed hands and is now a ghastly boozer; loud bright and chavvy.

The service was great even though it was the England Vs Sweden game. We arrived at 2pm and sat on a bench outside with a friendly family. One of them moved away and two women sat down on the bench. What happened after half time after returning from the toilet with my 11 year old son was embarrassing. They decided to take up the spot my son was sat in and refused to move back. They tried to intimidate by calling over their friends so obviously local even spoke to one of the bar ladies. I spoke to someone who knew swelly to ask him to politely ask her to move as my ask was responded to with disgust and he said oh swelly no can't ask her. To add insult to injury her dad arrived and pushed my son even further off the bench. We had fun though watching him swerve and stagger home at 5pm. Also looking back enjoyed the fact the a dog was licking swelly and she did not notice. Thanks to Dino who after I called to say what had happened was disgusted too and invited me back next time I came and said this should not have happened.

The carvery on Sundays at lunch-time is excellent value for money. The staff and the owner are all very attentive, helpful and caring. The upgrade to the old historic building is superb and the owner still intends to further improve his restaurant. Well worth a visit and great food makes this an enjoyable venue.

Popped in for lunch following a walk to the Halnaker Windmill. Managed to get the last table available. I had the "lunchtime" size fish and chips with tartare sauce and mushy peas and my partner had the gammon, egg and chips. Both were very good. The "lunchtime" size fish and chips was a perfect size. My partner then had the crumble and ice cream and I had a mini version with custard and a flat white coffee. All very good too. Friendly staff and a great menu. A good selection of alcohol free beers. Definitely one to visit again when in the area, would book in advance.

We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime and luckily they had a table for us. The pub was buzzing with happy people, clearly lots of locals too which is always a good sign. We had three courses - hadn’t planned to but the food was just soooo good! The prawn cocktail was the best we’ve ever had, and mains were delicious. OH had sea bass and I had lambs liver. Both served piping hot and with fresh veg. One of my main beefs is when food isn’t hot enough. Not so here, well done Berkeley Arms. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for too. We live 20 mins away but we’ll most definitely be back!

Very disappointed in my Scrambled egg on brown toast, the egg had no taste very pale done in the microwave, and water on my plate made my barely toasted toast wet and soggy. Great pleasant staff. Service good but unfortunately the breakfast was horrible.

We often visit this Greggs whilst shopping in Chichester as their sausage rolls are the best. As I don’t drink dairy milk, in the past I’ve always had soya in little cartons. My husband asked for oat milk (my favourite) and to my pleasant surprise Greggs now offer oat milk as an alternative. So my order was for an Americano with oat milk on the side. My husband also mentioned “on the side”. This is because I don’t take much so need to add it myself. So when the lady served an Americano with oat included (frothed up, yuk) (Since when does an Americano have warm frother milk in it?) I said, no I ordered oat milk on the side. Stroppy cow said she didn’t hear that (we said it twice) and that anyway they don’t serve oat milk on the side. So I’ve paid for a coffee that I can’t drink as it’s too milky. I really expected her to say “sorry madam, let me do another one for you”. I mean, for the sake of customer satisfaction, just pour it away and serve me what I’ve asked for! Is it too much to ask to have oat milk on the side? This is a first for us. Every other coffee establishment we visit serves it cold, and on the side when asked. She has no customer skills at all. A right stroppy cow. We were disgusted.

The friendliness of everyone especially the chef was outstanding. The food was simple but very good quality. The location was outstanding. Highly recommended and we will be sure to stop here again.
