Pomodoro e Mozzarella in Eastbourne

I had the prawn salad as a starter and spagetti mariana as a mains. Both nice. My friend had bruschetta as a starter and salmon tagliatelle as a main which again h e liked. He was not a fan of the house wine. I asked for a sparkling water and was given a 750 ml bottle which i asked to be changed for a 500 ml bottle. I was charged for the 750 ml bottle when the bill came. Paid as did not want to cause a fuss as the place was very busy and noisy. One wonders if this is deliberate ? So for me it was Food 5/5 Service 0/5 Value 2/5 Atmosphere 2/5 TOTAL 9/20

We returned to Eastbourne for a 3rd time. We have walked passed Pomodoro e Mozzarella several times before. So, we thought, let's give it a go! The food was...ok. Very average Italian food. What was really disappointing was just how rude the staff were. We ordered and we felt like we were an inconvenience. My partner, who is actually Italian even tried speaking to the waiter in Italian to be polite, the waiter didn't even smile nor acknowledged the effort. It's ok for a simple pizza, or a bowl of pasta. But just on the service...disappointing

This is a lovely restaurant. I came with a group of 11 friends and it was a lot of fun and the pizza was delicious. We all loved it. I have never eaten or seen a pizza with boiled eggs on it before. It was quite unique and delicious.

What a popular local restaurant this is! I went for an early 6pm supper with a good friend, and found it already almost filled with a cross-section of swinging Eastbourne: schoolboys with doting grandparents; lovers with chaperoning grandparents; and grandparent quartets. My friend had scallops, pasta and a good number of negronis, and was distinctly more relaxed by the end of the meal. I ate mushrooms drowned in garlic and a very filling pizza. Prices are utterly reasonable, service is brisk and mostly with a smile, and if a you are seeking somewhere to eat, drink and be merry you could do far worse.

Birthday celebration for a special couple & family. Order for drinks was taken 25 minutes after we arrived & food order 15 minutes later. Those with pizza experienced meagre fillings & immoderate dressings - my chicken & mozzarella was limp & tasteless. Desserts’ orders were taken after another 40 minutes. We all passed on coffees as by that stage, approaching 3+ hours it palled. A bill of around £400 was average

Went here whilst on holiday and there was a queue outside. Once we got to the door we were seated. The restaurant was busy. Our food arrived quickly. The food was good. Going back next year. Grazie mille.

All I can say about Pomodoro e Mozzarella is that the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The service is charming. And the food is amazing. I love pasta and risotto, and being equally passionate about seafood, Pomodoro e Mozzarella surprised me and provided me with a great experience. By the way, one of the best risottos I have ever had (light, fluffy, creamy). I highly recommend it. Overall, my dinner was very enjoyable. Looking forward to the next visit.

I come here regularly for family occasions and the standard never fails to impress me. The food is always lovely with perfect filling portions. Staff- super friendly, patient and attentive; the owner always recognises us and once even overheard us talk about my father's birthday and surprised us with a candle and birthday song. PeM will always be our go-to restaurant!

I was welcomed and shown the table by the oldest male member of staff with the sentence ‘come here’ .After the main course I ordered dessert but the bill came before the dessert although I did not ask for it.The food was average and seafood was less in pasta dish comparing to other Italian restaurants.Absolutely fed up staff with moody and grumpy faces.Not possible to understand how the restaurant is still bussy.

Unbelievably good food! On a late Saturday evening, without a reservation and not much hope, we walked into the restaurant and were lucky enough to snag the last table for two. We opted for two of the chef’s specials: brown rice risotto with prawns and asparagus, and monkfish with prawns and cherry tomatoes. Both dishes were exceptional—the risotto and monkfish were hands down the best meals I’ve had this year. There was nothing left on the plates ☺️ We also enjoyed a mixed salad, non-alcoholic cocktails (Bambino and virgin mojito), and a shared portion of profiteroles for dessert. The profiteroles were good, though the chocolate sauce was a bit intense, and the choux puffs were softer than expected, but still a satisfying portion for two. The service was lovely, though occasionally slow due to the busy evening, which was understandable. Our waiter, John, was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we were happy with everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Eastbourne. It's a shame I don't live nearby—if I did, I'd be a regular!

Old school Italian with a buzz, very popular place .Good food and service.

We took a chance in this restaurant for lunch on our way to the theatre. What a lovely surprise it was, we had the 2 course set price lunch, and it so exceeded our expectations. Quick service, beautifully presented, hot, tasted great and very reasonably priced. Only 2 of us dined but I belong to a theatre group and we'll definitely recommend this restaurant to the group next time we visit Eastbourne.

Mediocre food, sticky table cloths, rude waiter

It was very disappointed with the experience dining here. While the food was average, it was the service that left a lasting negative impression. The waiter (the one on the pic) displayed an alarming level of rudeness and unprofessionalism. Not only did he kick the table and chair while serving us, but he also sprinkled cheese from a height without asking if my friend wanted it, causing cheese to land on her arm. To make matters worse, he handled the plates very roughly, almost as if he were serving prisoners rather than guests. Despite our polite complaints, there was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation. Given the poor service and lack of courtesy, I cannot recommend this restaurant. If you value respectful and professional service, it might be best to avoid this place.

Certainly one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne. We decided to spend the last weekend of the season in the Eastbourne area and we discovered this Italian jewel slightly inland from the main promenade of Eastbourne. In a period of the year when other locales think about batting down the hatches for the winter this place was chock full of people at all times for lunch, brunch and dinner… the reason? Everything is tasty, abundant, served with a smile and happiness, high quality and value for money. I wore my best southern Italian smile and went in without booking while the place seemed to have a million people inside… it is a big place but still it looked filled to the brim with at least 20 servers flying around the tables. The metre, a genuine old fashion guy from southern Italy, welcomed us and immediately found us a table in the main restaurant ( there are 3 massive sides including one downstairs) as if by magic. The menu is quite large with many dishes and deals to make anyone happy including vegans and people with allergies. As usual, We had one set menu, one a la carte and some bambino items for our little daughter. We were impressed by the genuine and wholesome way everything was prepared and flavoured. It reminded me of rural trattorie in the Tuscany countryside. There are numerous dishes which were truly worth having seconds and triples even. The melanzane for example or the squid rings all melted in your mouth and you cannot stop wanting more. Pizzas are a big part of the menu and are also very good, same great cooking skills but I, being a fanatic of wood fired ovens, cannot give full marks for a gas fired one, this is what they have but I must say they make the best of it. Pastas are also very tasty and abundant with even my wife and daughter extremely satisfied by them. The vast selection of antipasti,wines and beers, incredible gelato and cakes tops it all off. One slightly less positive note is the bread, any born and bred Italian will tell you that bread is a very important component of meals in italy but here it seems little effort has been put in choosing a proper, crusty, flavoursome, smooth one. If you ask, they bring you an English style soft short baguette which tastes like nothing, it is stringy and chewy. With France literally a stone’s throw it is “incroyable” to think they could not do better than that. Price wise we are a long way from London and it’s prices and still somehow we are not used to pay so little for so much, we went again the following day for lunch and either time we did not spend more than 55 quid for the 3 of us, including wine ( I was not driving yeeee!) birthday cake ( little one’s) and all full three courses. A wholesome and happy place to spend a few meals eating proper Italian food, highly recommended.

This is a great, classic restaurant. I've always had great pizza here, and at a great price. The staff are always polite and helpful. It's got a vibe that maybe isn't considered trendy but man the food is what a restaurant is about. And to be honest it's nice just eating like people did in the good ol' day. Apart from the Italians, a lot modern pizza places charge a crapton for some invention they think is great and do you want to be served by a fat tattooed hippy with a hat with progfolk blaring in the background. Don't mess with a mans/woman's pizza, leave the lemon truffle drizzle at home.

The food was delicious and big portions, the service was fast and efficient, the atmosphere was happy and welcoming and the bill was was reasonable. I have nothing to complain about and only praise for this restaurant, it was a really lovely experience so thank you all. This place is busy with tourists and locals so I suggest booking a table in advance if possible.

We waren 4 dagen in Eastbourne en na ons eerste bezoek zijn we elke dag teruggeweest! De kaart is zeer uitgebreid en alles is lekker én verzorgd: perfect gebakken filetto, heerlijke pizza, smaakvolle pasta, ... De bediening is zeer vlot, efficiënt én vriendelijk. En hoewel er veel plaats is, zat het ook elke avond nagenoeg vol!

Its not as good as it once was. We have eaten here many times in the past and I can honestly say the service has seriously declined, the food is still fairly good, but expensive compared to other Italian restaurants in Eastbourne. I had booked a special table for a family celebration, but found on arrival it had been given to another party. The head waiters attitude was very dismissive, not acceptable for a regular customer. The tables are all squashed together making conversation very difficult, don't let them put you downstairs, the noise is terrible. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our mains to be served. I had ordered a starter, after I had finished sat there with an empty plate for 30 minutes until I raised it above my head to be noticed. The young waiters are not very attentive, they don't seem to be watching the tables or circulating. I am sorry to say, we shall after many years not be eating here again.

The best restraunt in Eastbourne! Highly recommend. I have been coming here for 20 years, food is always delicious, always good price. Wide choice of menu. The staff make this place special as they are all very friendly, attentive and work very hard. Don't hesitate if you haven't been before.

The food was not very tasty and flavorful. They said the pesto sauce was homemade but I don't think so. Because my stomach burned all night. If it was homemade, my stomach wouldn't burn, I tried it a lot. GF pasta was not fresh, it was dry. It would be great if the waiters were a little more smile.

Excellent restaurant run by a friendly Portuguese family. Gnocchi with gorgonzola top. Lamb, tiramisu… all excellent. I recommend.

We immensely enjoyed the food so much we went back a second night in a row. I had veal parmingina , wife had Salmon, second night cannoli, for apps we had aspahrgus with Parmesan cheese with lite olive oil , and a fantastic minestrone soup. All was amazing fresh and tasty, the sauce was succulent. Door greeter and staff all very kind and helpful.

Nice touch with being greeted by the manager/owner, makes you feel like you are seeing an old friend. A very good choice of food for starters, mains and deserts. All very tasty. Good and quick service, considering it was a Saturday evening, they are superb in rearranging and setting the tables. There was a delay with our desert, apparently some misunderstanding in the kitchens. Also a longish wait for someone to deal with the payment, but a lady at the counter took care of it. It was very noisy though but I suppose this is not the staff's fault. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had a lovely meal here after watching the Eastbourne airshow on a Saturday evening. We booked a table for four people at 1800 hours but arrived 30 minutes early as the airshow finished earlier than expected. There was a queue of people waiting to enter all with the same idea no doubt. We were quickly seated and ordered drinks. Service was speedy & efficient. Staff were numerous and attentive. Food was lovely and was well presented. We only had a main course plus drinks & the bill came to £90.00. Very nice atmosphere and very busy which is a good sign. Will visit again when next in Eastbourne.

We had a fantastic meal here on a busy Friday evening- the staff were welcoming and very friendly, there is a superb selection on the menu - pizza, pasta, meat and fish. Also check out the chefs recommendations. The calzone pizza is just amazing - one of the best I have ever had. A buzzing room, families enjoying themselves. An all round superb experience and great value for money.

Fantastic meal. It was extremely busy when we arrived however that did not deter from the excellent service we received. We will be back, when we come down for the panto in January.

Ive been going to 'Pizza Pom' since it opened. Myself, friends and family eat there a lot, we've never, ever had a bad experience. Last night we went to PP for my birthday meal, from the start I felt a bad vibe. I said to my family (5 of us) 'Luca cannot be here tonight'. 1st problem, my son had no cutlery laid up in his place. 2nd, we then waited 20 minutes in between the starter and the main, each time we asked we were told 'I will just check'. 3rd We ordered 2 Pina Coladas and a beer. I really believe the PCs were only Pineapple Juice I am certain there was no Rum in these drinks, they were bland and just juice. So I asked for 2 glasses of Wine and another Beer, when she brought these over she left the dirty glasses /beer bottle on our table, although I called her back to take these away so our table was not so cluttered. We waited ages after asking for the bill, for it to be brought to us. When my daughter in law went to drink her wine she saw that her glass was cracked all the way down it's bulb shape... I went to the desk to pay, I told the lady (who proudly informed me that Luca was, indeed away that she was 'in charge tonight') that I was very unhappy with our whole experience. She was very matter of a fact, blasé in her response. 'it is just how it is sometimes', 'we are busy' ' Never mind kind of attitude., I've been there many a busier time and besides, this is no excuse. Not in the least interested in why we were unhappy. However a waiter called Pedro. (I'm sure he said that was his name) came over, he asked what was wrong, I explained. He was sooo apologetic. Absolutely different attitude to the lady 'in charge'. He told me that I must point this all out next time I came in they they would rectify this issue. I have never, ever had cause to complain about PP. The restaurant was full and we only had to wait 2-3 minutes for them to have a table ready for us. The service was excellent as they were quick but also very friendly. The food came quickly and was particularly tasty. It was the best restaurant in Eastboure!!!

OH MY GOD. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. It's the most delicious Italian food (and honestly food in general) that I've had here in the UK! It really tasted like if I was eating back home in Italy. Food is of amazing quality, so tasty, everybody was so nice, and you get a very good portion for a good price. We enjoyed so much that the next day we went back there to have lunch and we already felt at home! Both times we took a plate of pasta each and a pizza to share. Every option is more delicious than the other. Honestly, if you're in Eastbourne go eat there cause you won't regret it. I'm definitely going back there just to go to their place! 100% recommend.

This is a lovely restaurant with nice staff. The food is very good, have never had a bad eat here. Saying that, I just feel it lacks something to make me come back again and again. I've come twice for birthdays and loved the food. But that's it. If you want to eat good Italian that will always be the same way every time, this is your place.

We had the pleasure of trying Pomodoro Mozzarella Restaurant in Pisa, and the experience was fantastic. The service was amazing, particularly thanks to the lady who served us. She was incredibly attentive and made a great effort to communicate with us in English. Unfortunately, I didn’t get her name, but if you’re reading this review, thank you! The pizza was delicious and worth the wait. This restaurant is a must-visit when you're in Pisa, Italy. Highly recommended!

We ordered vegetable lasagna and gnocchi with provolone cheese sauce. It was delicious. I had a tiramisu for dessert, it wasn't an authentic one. I thought that would be made with mascarpone cheese like an original Italian, but no. But I totally recommend it. You can try a different dessert.

This was absolutely great Italien food experience, to the extend I was back the next evening and I am sure I will revisit next time I'm in Eastbourne. Despite it was a very busy evening and the staff found a table for me despite I didn't book a table. The service was great, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, the portions were decent.

An amazing Italian restaurant very close to the beach / coastline in Eastbourne! This was the best carbonara I had in the UK 💯💯 The restaurant is very spacious. Yet at 6:30pm the entire restaurant was full and by the time we left around 7:30pm, there was a long queue waiting outside. Highly recommend book in advance (calling at a quiet hour; they don’t do online booking unfortunately) or come in early like around 5pm on a busy Saturday evening. The food is amazing! They had two good value set menus, but we went for ordering individually, as the cheaper set menu is not available for Friday and Saturday dinners. For me, the highlights are the deep fried white baits, carbonara and tiramisu. White baits are very fresh, carbonara and tiramisu are the best I had over years and. The portions are generous. The staff are very friendly and easy to get attention. Love this restaurant and will come back again next time we visit Eastbourne 🙌🙌

I cannot believe the few negative comments re this restaurant. We have been coming here for many many years and have never found the waiting staff unfriendly - in fact, quite the reverse, Luca, the owner is the kindest, most generous host one could wish to meet. Staff are long serving and treat customers like family. Over the years we have introduced tens of people to Pomodoro and, they, like us, are now regular ms here. The food is wonderful and always of the same excellent standard whether one orders from the set menus or a la carte. I would defy anyone to find such meals at these prices anywhere else in Eastbourne.

The chef Luka came out to talk to us and divulge some of his secrets how he made such good food. Great food and value, lovely staff

We ate at this restaurant on Saturday night, the first night of Eastbourne’s international tennis tournament. The restaurant was extraordinarily busy and very noisy. They seemed surprised to see us when we arrived. We had booked but they never checked this; I don’t know whether they had a record of our reservation. Nevertheless they found us a table of four. We all chose from the two-course set menu (£24.50), adding a large glass of wine. The wine and starters were delivered promptly but then we had a long wait of almost an hour before the mains; they didn’t arrive until after we had complained and we suspect we had been lost in the system. There were other tables who arrived after us and yet were served their mains before us. After we had complained they did give us a round of complimentary drinks. The mains then arrived fairly quickly. My starter was baked aubergine with tomato and cheese. It was heavy and filling; no one taste predominated. For my main, I had veal. The slices were slightly tough, mostly tasteless and served in an over-salted tomato and olive sauce. The accompanying vegetables were nicely al dente. Then the bill arrived. After we had paid it we discovered that instead of four glasses of wine, we had been charged for three glasses and a bottle. There was a refund, with apologies. Maybe they thought we were among the more than four million tourists who visit Eastbourne every year. But we’re local. We help to keep restaurants running through the winter months. Next time we’ll choose somewhere else. Fortunately Eastbourne has a wide range of possibilities including several good Italian restaurants.
