La Locanda Del Duca in Eastbourne

We were looking to find a lunch venue to celebrate our 58th wedding anniversary. What a find ! We had an apertive first We both ordered sea bass which arrived promptly beautifully presented with accompanying vegetables. We also had a glass of wine each. For desert we shared ice cream as our appetites no longer allow more. The ambience was fantastic and the restaurant almost full on what was a misty cold November Wednesday. Clearly this restaurant is very popular with many repeat customers. Their prices are very exceptable for top quality food and outstanding service. Well done all. We will be back.

We stayed in Eastbourne on a Saturday night and thought we would try this restaurant, it was very busy but we managed to get a table. The food was amazing, the staff very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go again next time in Eastbourne.

We searched for an Italian restaurant whilst having a short break in Eastbourne. We were very pleased we chose this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food. The menu is very extensive with daily specials. The set menu is competitively priced with plenty to choose from. Highly recommend this restaurant (in fact we are returning for our last night in Eastbourne!)

A deceptively large restaurant, good selection of starters & mains. Veg risotto was a little bland however good wine & attentive staff made it a good experience. Try it.

Been twice waiters a efficient but not all that friendly. The food good and it was very lively atmosphere. It is my favourite restaurant at the moment for consistency food wise I have not yet been disappointed and will go again very soon.

Been meaning to try day lunchtime food and wine was excellent certainly recommend it xx

Amazing food, beautiful authentic interior. Chose this place for a romantic evening, but we were rushed out in an hour sadly. The bill was brought without us asking, and I found it very unpleasant, so will not be coming back. I understand it’s a popular place, but if you are looking for a romantic one, I’d say look for something else.

Average food. Dated decor. Not somewhere I will be going again. Expensive for the quality and taste of meal. Have been 3 times and previous meals were brilliant. Maybe they were just having an off day however decor needs updating.

We were here to celebrate a special birthday and everything was top quality. Excellent service and great food. Very good wine and overall it was a lovely evening and fantastic value. Nice to enjoy a traditional Italian restaurant. Six months later and we're back. It's just as good!

Food as usual was OK. We felt a bit rushed between the courses by the waitress. The restaurant was not particularly busy, so there is no need to hurry us along.

Just came for a birthday celebration during a quick one-night stopover in Eastbourne and I can honestly say this is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The place was packed full, and yet we did not need to wait for anything. The service from Michaela was incredible and the food was unbelievable! I had the chicken & broccoli risotto and it was so creamy and retained it's heat from the first bite to the last!! Between the two of us for 3 courses, I could not believe how reasonable the price was!! Rest assured if you enjoy authentic Italian cuisine served by a family-run establishment YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!!!!!!

We stayed two nights in Eastbourne during our holiday and came here for dinner the first evening. It was so good we came back the next day :-) Everything about this restaurant is just perfect: the food, the interior, the atmosphere, the hospitality. We had several things from the menu and all was very tasty, and particularly the sole is to die for. The waiters are very child friendly as well, our 10-year old son got a lot of attention and he absolutely loved it. He also asked me to write a 5-star review, which I would have done anyway without his request ;-)

Our very first visit and what an amazing evening we had. Everything about the evening was fantastic. The veal dish was one of the best veal l had tasted in years. We will without doubt be back and will be telling our family and friends. Thank you.

Booked a table for dinner tonight August 13 th We arrived and had our push chair with us for the baby. The head waiter told us no room for the small buggy. Could not have been more unhelpful , more unfriendly, more unpleasant Or ruder. Plenty of other restaurants that will Make you welcome Stay

As yearly visitors to Eastbourne Locanda del Duca is always on our go to list. Authentic Italian cuisine with a wide ranging menu and an excellent value "set menu" at lunch and dinner with wide ranging choices. Service is friendly and professional and there is a great choice of Italian wines to enhance your meal. Charming staff and always a good experience - we look forward to next time.

Food was great, service very good, very busy restaurant bit noisy value for money good.

When I searched “best restaurants in Eastbourne”, this came up. I was sceptical but went with it. Turns out I was right. The food is terrible. I had scallops, they were like rubber. The steak was the worst I have ever tasted. Nothing was seared it tasted like it had been air fried. Green beans like soggy old socks . Very badly cooked, tasteless, and unappealing on the plate. Served by robots. Really, don’t bother

While in Eastbourne craving for some seafood, luckily after a search online La Locanda Del Duca was discovered; an Italian restaurant on the Eastbourne coast, which served a selection of mouthwatering dishes. This restaurant has that classic English seaside Italian restaurant feel. The restaurant is big with a high ceiling feeling airy and spacious; containing classy decor, with artwork of beautiful places in Italy found on every wall. We were welcomed by the friendly staff that are dressed to impress, who delivered great service. Deciding on our dishes from the impressive menu, for the starter we opted for 2 oysters, and Capesante con pancetta e spinaci (Scallops wrapped in Italian Bacon, with spinach). Surprisingly the scallops were complimented extremely well, with the slight salt taste of the Italian Bacon eliminating the need for added salt. One thing I loved was the waiter providing us with a lemon sorbet to cleans our palette, before our mains arrived. This showed they wanted us to have a great dining experience, and this is also typical of Italian dining culture too. For the main courses 2 dishes were ordered. 'Spaghetti allo scoglio' which came with various seafood in a lovely tomato sauce, and 'Tagliatelle ai gamberoni, zafferano e limone (tagliatelle with prawns, saffron, and lemon). However the standout main was the 'Tagliatelle ai gamberoni...', this was beyond amazing with the subtle yet rich taste of saffron, prawns, and lemon; in a cream sauce that coates the tagliatelle so well, reminding you you're living your best life. This is one of the best dishes ever eaten, something even my Southern Italian partner stated (she let me try)! 😋 Visiting La Locanda Del Duca was a fantastic choice, and a reason to revisit the coastal town again for the food, atmosphere and cultural experience; of a lovely Italian restaurant. If in the area do book, as on the Sunday it got quiet busy and now we know why. Buon appetito. 🇮🇹😃

Great meal, had to wait a bit as it was a busy Saturday night and the tennis was on but staff were good and very apologetic....

Decided to go for lunch on a whim with no booking. As usual we were welcomed and shown to our Favourite table in the corner. New menu from the last time we were here, very nice dishes. We were spoilt for choice. The complimentary bread and olives were put on our table. I ordered from 2 course set menu, prawn cocktail, and tagliatelle with prawns, safron and lemon...so very delicious! Hubby had Pasta Festa with pasta, beef and tomato sauce. Again delicious We do eat here very often, it has never disappointed. It's a class above Italian, fine dining in a lovely setting with table cloths on the tables Today there were more people here than I have ever seen in 10 years of coming, all standing around their set tables chatting and mingling. Apparently it's a lunch club who meet here 4 times a year, very busy, but we weren't ignored, service as always impeccable. We were served a complimentary limoncello with the bill. Very classy, its always going to be our favourite.

A proper restaurant without the fluff. We went there on a Tuesday night. You can go there without any concerns. This is what you want to read in a review. PS For the staff they have been professional and friendly, we have appreciated! A couple from London 🇮🇹 🇯🇵

Visit Eastbourne tennis tournament every year but have never been to this restaurant before. Excellent. Will certainly be going there again.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for the last few years and have never been let down by the food or service. We’ve all tried various items from the menu over the years and each one has been cooked to perfection. Always service with a smile too and even a free liqueur at the end of the meal!

Genuine and welcoming. Staff polite and efficient. Cocktails were excellent and the food is just amazing! If you’re looking for a genuine Italian experience you must visit here. Would recommend unreservedly to you all!

The most superb Italian cooked food with delightful and friendly service. We are regulars at this restaurant and we have never had a less than great meal. The monk fish cooked in a cream and prawn sauce is magnificent but it is hard to beat the slivers of lambs liver excellent cooked to perfection. Good wine selection by glass and bottle all at reasonable prices. Very good desserts if you have any room left! Thank you la Locanda.

Could not fault this restaurant for food or service. 8 of us ate and the only complaint any of us had was that we couldn't have sampled 3 or 4 dishes each per course. Lasagna was a personal highlight, the red wine sauce that the beef fillets were served in I could have drunk by the jug. Also the Primitivo red wine was great value. Would highly recommend, you'll struggle to find a better Italian locally. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

We found this restaurant after a show at the congress centre. We arrived just before closing. Our meals were fabulous. The service was acceptional. We were not rushed at all. Thank you all. Amazing restaurant

Small portions and very expensive, the food is good, but what I didn't like was that the waiters appropriated the tip themselves without asking , I think this should be a decision that belongs to the customer, honestly I felt ripped off

Had a great dinner last Saturday night for my wife's birthday with a couple of friends. The whole ambiance of the restaurant is classy where the food was top notch in my view. The staff were extremely efficient and friendly but not intrusive a ready great place.

Food was great, younger staff were great, older male waiter wouldn't crack a smile, actually felt quite uncomfortable. Seating squeezed in, so so close to other tables. Would I go back, probs not.

My wife and I visited on a busy Saturday night. We were really impressed with the service from the start. All the staff were brilliant throughout our visit. The food was lovely and very reasonable especially for the quality of each dish. The restaurant has a really great atmosphere as well. Will definitely return.

This place never fails to impress! Proper old fashioned Italian, done and served excellently. The added bonus was it was Elvis night! Great fun had by all.

Old school Italian with a slightly worryingly large menu. You don’t see that nowadays but presumably they have been doing the same thing for years and know how to make it work. It was very busy on Saturday night and although the service was good we did feel slightly hurried through the meal. Definitely a good place to go if you’re not looking for a leisurely meal or anything too modern.

Went for a celebratory lunch and had one of the nicest meals ever. Lovely food (best asparagus ever!), attentive but not overly hovering service in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed it so much I almost forgot the pouring rain outside! Will definitely be going back 😁

Wonderful true Italian restaurant! If there was 10 stars, I could give that🤩 Everything was excellent, just right. I cannot describe the taste of food, it is very authentic at the same time open to new tastes. I just had a ravioli with duck meat, brandy and orange sauce. This could be the best ravioli I ate. Service, attention, atmosphere were just so good, it really made my day👌

We think LLDD is one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne and the surrounding area. We have eaten many times in this popular place. The staff and very professional, make everyone feel special and the food is excellent and varied.

This restaurant is superb. The food is amazing. I'm exceptionally fussy when sourcing places to eat. Most of their food is sourced locally and the standard is impeccable. Above and beyond. Because it can get busy, always best to pre book. You won't be disappointed. Ben the owner and his partner Michaela run the place brilliantly. Their attention to detail is superb. Nothing is too much trouble. So if your visiting Eastbourne pay them a visit.

Food was good and so was the service, popular place, perhaps a little too speedy but it suits pre-theatre eaters which we were.

Had lunch here today with friends and as always, and we have been many times, everything was amazing. It was really busy but didn't affect the service at all. Don't know how they serve so many people so well. Food was fabulous and hot and staff were brilliant. Always a fantastic experience.

Every time I visit Eastbourne on a business trip I make sure to have supper at this welcoming and generous restaurant. The food is delicious - I always have the veal in cream sauce, which comes with a huge array of beautifully cooked veg including masses of crispy sauté potatoes, and the crepe with summer fruits, stuffed with fresh cream and topped with amaretto crumbs. But not only is the food to die for, the staff are attentive and offer a complementary digestif and chocolates at the end of your meal. Try it - you won’t regret it!

First time in Eastbourne visiting an old friend. She insisted on taking me here for a meal and I can see why. The place was full on a Wednesday night which says it all. The service was great and the food amazing, especially the carpaccio. Highly recommend

I've been a few times before but this was the busiest night. And the food was disappointing considering the price. It was so packed it was hard to get in and out of the tables. Which I understand you need to get as much business as possible. But the food was very average. And not cheap!

My husband ordered lasagne which he very much enjoyed and I ordered chicken breast with asparagus and a beautiful dressing saute potatoes and vegs. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal drinks and the dessert tirimisu with vanilla topped with nuts was exceptionally good to eat. The service was very attentive also. We do not live in Eastbourne but if we return we will definitely visit this Italian restaurant again. Lastly the cost of everything was not prohibitive.

This is a truly authentic Italian restaurant, hence no plastic pizzas! Just superb home cooked Italian delights. The menu allows a huge choice of pastas all cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly nice, not just attentive but funny and personal. We loved it and will certainly return again.

We had our wedding reception here. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant and first class food. Service is amazing and we love the atmosphere, especially the Sunday evenings once a month when we can enjoy Singer Tom Fitzpatrick, he gets the whole restaurant involved and even dancing at the end of the evening. Check him out!

Easily the best Italian restaurant in Eastbourne. The food is excellent with a wide range of dishes available. We went as a group of 7 and went when they were very busy, but the quality and service remained exceptional. They do a lovely goats cheese with figs starter that I would recommend.

Booked in advance, glad I did, it was busy! Smiling cheerful staff, very good food and service, good value for money.

If you love Italian food, then this place is a must the food is fantastic good price and a really good clean restaurant and the staff a really great nice family run restaurant 😀

Very good quality food, amazing service, where I constantly felt looked after, I cannot mention this enough as all staff members were fantastic. Complimentary bread and olives (weird to say but the best bread I have had in a while!), and digestif. On top of this the interior was very nicely set up, clean and cosy, bathroom was spotless and in very high standard. Will be returning here for sure as this has become one of the favourites in town, along with its neighbour restaurant next door to this one (although that one I would say is more family oriented, whereas this one is more for an experience without children).

A gem of a restaurant. Small enough to be personal and big enough to provide a top class service. Terrific food. Wonderful service with lovely people who do not mind sharing a joke! A lovely experience and one that I would not hesitate to recommend to anybody.

I had been daydreaming about one of my favourite Italian dishes all day and I just had to find it. I found it in Locanda and it didn't disappoint. Cooked to perfection.

Definitely The Best restaurant in Eastbourne. I think we have tried everything on the menu by now and honestly, it’s hard to pick our favourite as everything is delicious; cooked and served to perfection. Management and staff are very welcoming and accommodating to every need. Looking forward to our next visit.
