Pomegranate kitchen in Oxford

Amazing we loved it! What a place ! They were friendly, lovely and gave us a great menu choice. Could not have had a better culninary time

The employee at the till failed to accommodate to my dietary restrictions. Upon asking him for an allergen menu, the employee proceeded to tell me that I was not allergic to anything in the menu and made me feel belittled with regards to my medical condition. He raised his voice at me when I tried to ask about the specific allergens, and then told me to sit down and he would bring me the food. My friends were outraged and we left immediately.

What an awful experience my wife and I had at this restaurant. Unfortunately the one of the kofta kebabs was off with the meat being very sour. We approached the waiter whom addressed the matter to the manager. He came out and said it's perfectly fine. I said have you tried it and ate some of it in front of us. He said it's perfectly fine, Im a chef and this is good. We still had a kofta that tasted fine and said they don't taste the same. He dismissed everything and walked away taking our uncompleted plate away, though we didn't want it at this point. We spoke to the waiter about the manager and to be honest he was really nice. We said your manager is unprofessional in dealing with this matter. I believe the manager overheard us and then offered us a small refund. We again, spoke to the manager about this matter and told him you should be more considerate with how you speak and deal with these matters. He thens said we are personally attacking him due to an earlier experience on the same evening when we were seated at the table , the light was very very dim and found it difficult to read the menu. He replied to this matter it's a restaurant, it's the experience and offered the torch from his phone to read the menu. It was a shame as the starters was very good and the waiter very polite. If a restaurants is very quiet there is usually a reason for this as most of the restaurants on Cowley Road were busy.. Avoid like the plague!!

The waiter was very friendly but not intrusive and we enjoyed a supremely delicious meal of small plates. Lovely relaxed atmosphere

I have eaten here before and have enjoyed the food. The quality seems to have diminished significantly. I suspect new ownership.the menu has become much smaller with fewer accompaniments than previously. We were served our food relatively quickly and it was okay - average at best. After we finished eating we waited for at least 30 minutes for our table to be cleared - in fact I had to request for this to be done. We were offered no drinks or pudding options - we were just left sitting at our table. I sought out the bill after asking twice. We paid and left. The restaurant has just one waiter managing the whole restaurant- on a Saturday night, This seems pretty ridiculous for a normally busy restaurant. In future I will eat at the Antep kitchen instead.

Having previously ordered and enjoyed some time ago, we thought we would reorder what we’d had before. Mixed grill with lamb shish and chicken shish, kofta chicken wings, tawook and salad. We ordered one portion of rice and bread between us. After a very long wait, we received a lamb chop, kofta, two cubes of chicken, bread and chips. We phoned to see if we’d received the wrong order only to be told that was the mixed kebab. We explained that that wasn’t the description on the delivery website. He wasn’t interested. We said we’d wanted salad, he said he thought chips would be better! No apology and refused to replace or refund. It was dry and cold. Not at all happy!

Really lovely meal but massively let down by slow service. Friday night out & was not v busy. One waiter serving all tables. He was v polite & friendly, we waited 45 mins for our food. When people finished their meals & paid plates were left on.the tables. Just need another person to serve/in the kitchen? (One couple left as they waited so long without being given drink or have their order taken) I really wanted to love this place but the service was lacking...

Wonderful warm welcome and excellent food. Overall a delightful experience and I would thoroughly recommend it if you are in Oxford

Went fo dinner....ok place. Food was good but service was a little bit slow. Hummus and babaganouj are really good.....

Family of 4 adults, 2 kids. Kids shared a main and had Turkish chips (lovely) with it. I had lamb which came with lots of rice and hot (bit not too hot) sauce. Other adults shared mezze plates. The walnut paste was huge success (best dish of all). Lots of good food and waitress was super lovely and welcoming. All in all lovely evening.

Visited for an early dinner with my mother - we asked the waiter for his recommendation about which mezze to order and how many, and he got it spot on. The food was all fantastic - we had the falafel, fried cauliflower, calamari, spicy prawns, lebanese dips & bread, and ful mudammas (fava beans in tahini). The waiter and proprietor were both friendly and accommodating, making sure we had a table we were comfortable at. Would highly recommend, and we will be returning!

We had dinner here recently with another couple before heading to the Oxford O2 to see a band. It was a last minute affair and this place was our second choice as everywhere else near the venue were fully booked. We ate relatively early as the gig started at 20:00.... The service was slow, the staff didn't really seem to be 'on it' but the food was nice enough. We all ordered various hot and cold mezze dishes which were all nice. The front of the place lets the overall appearance of the restaurant down a bit as half of the sign above the door is missing. I don't think we'll be going back any time soon. There are better options on this road.....

A group of 12 of us had booked to go here as a work Christmas meal. When we arrived there had been a table set up for us at the back of the restaurant near to the kitchen and toilet. As you walked through the restaurant the smell of bad drains/sewage got worse and worse. We sat and waited for other members of the group to arrive but all agreed that the smell was disgusting and that we could not stay to eat there. A member of the group approached the waiter and told him we would be leaving due to the smell and the waiter did not acknowledge that there was any bad smell. My colleague said ‘can you not smell it? It’s really strong!’ And the waiter said he couldn’t and that it was our choice to leave. Very poor standard and no apology. We had to go and find another restaurant to manage to fit us in with no notice. Very disappointing! I would not return.

外観は綺麗な感じですし、お店の中はコンパクトなテーブルが並びますが逆にひざを突き合わせて食べる感じがいい雰囲気。レバノン料理がこんなに色んなレパートリーがあるのを教えてもらいました。その中でもスープから煮物まで沢山お豆を頂きました。

Excellent food - scrumptious We had a takeaway delivered. We live in the sticks but it got here. The driver was so apologetic about being a little late. The food is amazing. Make sure you eat some food from Pomegranate.

Lunchtime meal out with a friend - fantastic food and great service. Went for the mezze platter and really enjoyed the selection. Excellent value for money. Try the non-alcoholic mojitos - they were lovely!

Lovely little restaurant, friendly staff and quick service. We had a pomegranate cocktail which was delicious. We had a chicken tajine and a mixed vegetable bake with some fried halloumi - all were very good!

Having recently eaten at what was supposed to be a good middle eastern restaurant in London it was fantastic to actually eat somewhere that was BETTER than expected.Fresh, authentic made dishes, we stuck to hot and cold mezze, tasty, full of flavour.The Ful Mudammas was fantastic, the beans were creamy and tasty, the first time we have had this dish.Be bold, try the Lebanese wine, splurge and try the more expensive bottle.Save room for the baklava sweet treats and Lebanese coffee, or fresh mint tea. Very enjoyable, good value- will visit again.

Excellent endroit pour venir partager des plats. La carte est large. Tout était savoureux. Les verres de vin que nous avons pris étaient bons aussi.

We were well looked after, fab recommendations. We all tried new things, the mezze were amazing. Mojito with rose water was very drinkable 😊. Will definitely visit again when in the area, thank you all for an enjoyable evening.

Really good food and fast efficient, polite service- what a great lunch! Vine leaves, calamari, deep fried aubergine, house special salad and lamb skewer (tender!) Yum!

Whilst in Oxford on business I wanted something different to eat. Glad I discovered Pomegranate. Had a takeaway, went back 2 nights running. Great Food, great service. I’ll be back when I'm next in Oxford.

Came here from Banbury on a recommendation from a friend and having tried Lebanese food from our town, I thought I’d try here out! Food was incredible, service was spot on and will return!

I've been here a lot (and got food delivered a lot) and it never disappoints - it may not be the most central, but it's the best Lebanese in Oxford by a stretch.

Quick lunch stop here, good menu, lovely food, fresh and well presented and tasted very nice. Friendly staff. Lovely wraps.

Booked last minute on a Saturday night and they managed to fit 6 of us in. The food was really tasty and very filling. The drinks were especially good, and the service was very friendly despite how busy they were.

It's nice to have a bit of variety in your food and Pomegranates menu gives you just that.

I came last night with some friends. We hade a great time friendly staff cosy restaurant also reasonable prices definitely will be back again.

Tuvimos la suerte de que lograron acomodarnos en una concurrida noche de viernes sin reserva. La comida era increíble, con mucha variedad y mucho sabor. Gran ambiente, personal amable, lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Realmente me encantó el pudín de toffee pegajoso definitivamente volverá otra vez.

Excelente comida y excelente servicio! Hemos estado muchas veces pero este fue el mejor hasta ahora. Lo más sorprendente fue que, posteriormente, descubrimos que estaba bajo una nueva administración a partir de ayer, con todo el personal, el chef y el gerente que venían de un restaurante cercano pero similar. Nuevo menú pero sobre todo platos familiares y carta de vinos actualizada. Sin duda volveremos.

Tuve que organizar una gran reserva de 20 personas en un curso de formación para tener un almuerzo muy rápido. Todo el personal con el que hablé fue increíblemente útil y eliminó el estrés al sugerir una forma eficiente de que todos obtengan buena comida en un marco de tiempo ajustado.

Así que he estado antes en la granada y como siempre la comida era buena. Sin embargo, el servicio fue absolutamente terrible! Soy un crítico honesto y realmente quiero dar más estrellas como la comida era buena. Esperamos más de una hora para la comida, que era solo los platos principales, y nos dieron la comida que no pedimos para llevar, así como la comida que pedimos que nos llevaran, que sale en un plato mucho tiempo después de haberlo pedido. Tuvimos que pedir que se pusiera en una bolsa para llevar. Ni una sola vez nos preguntaron si queríamos más bebidas en toda la hora que esperábamos para comer. También nos cobraron dos veces por halloumi, que se olvidó con la comida para llevar y luego nos cobraron dos veces por ello. También parecían estar fuera de la mayoría de los platos de carne en el menú. . . ¡habrías pensado que el personal estaría más preparado para una noche de viernes! Recibo que el personal está ocupado pero la mitad del personal no parecía saber lo que estaban haciendo y no fueron muy atentos, fue un desastre. Mi consejo es tal vez capacitar al personal un poco más en servicio al cliente y hospitalidad, lo que puede complacer a los clientes un poco más.

Quando una cena di famiglia si trasforma in un viaggio di sola andata tra profumi e sapori d'Oriente. La cucina è sorprendentemente leggerissima e profumatissima. Tutto assolutamente meraviglioso. Consiglio vivamente di ordinare 6/7 piatti di mezés alla carta per assaggiare un po' di tutto secondo la vera tradizione gastronomica libanese. Servizio veloce e cordiale. Prezzo più che onesto. Merita una visita e senza dubbio un ritorno.

Me encantaba la granada principalmente por la salsa roja que solían dar con las comidas principales que realmente hacen que la comida sea muy sabrosa. Fue mi ir a! ! Sin embargo, ya que cambiaron la salsa roja que solían servir, ya no puedo visitar. La salsa era única y sabrosa, a diferencia de la que tienen ahora.

I've never written a review before, and probably never will again. The Pomegranate is that good. I've never had a proper Lebanese meal before, I will be coming again, as often as I can.

I had two appetisers. There were too many choices on the menu and I ordered not having any idea what was coming. After seeing the photos on this site of what others had ordered, I would choose differently next time. My 2 appetisers were a chili and walnut type paste that I spread on the naan bread, and a plate of nut stuffed sausages. Both dishes were tasty but for me not the best choice. The waiter was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely recommend this place, it had a nice ambience and there are many delicious dishes to choose from.

Pomegranate has rapidly become somewhere my sons want to go and we've shared several family events there.

2 tables occupied on entry last night, we were 2 women. Our drinks took 10 minutes to come, boxed pomegranate juice, not fresh, there was nothing else to do during that time than the moustached waiter and aussie waitresss, but lack lustre they came. The food was a shambles.. Monday night felt like the weekend's leftovers straight from the fridge. The bread was too dry from the packet and the lentil soup tangy in a way that seemed like it was just a bit too long in a warm kitchen....

Been here a few times. Service is always friendly and prompt, and the food is great. If you ask very nicely, they'll do the great value lunch menu in the evening!

We just used Pomegranate for our wedding anniversary party to cater for over 90 people. We got a huge quantity of absolutely delicious mezze, and our guests loved it all. Huge thanks to Abdo, Jimmy and Skito, for the food and for delivering it to our off road party location. Would definitely use again. Martin

Came here the other night as we had a power cut at home and needed somewhere to eat! As the weather was hot and sunny it made us desire some Lebanese food. When the weather is nice they open the front of the restaurant out which does remind you somewhat of a restaurant abroad which was nice.

Yo solía ir a Granada mucho, una vez cada una o dos semanas. Las bandejas de mezze y falafel wraps era excelente relación calidad-precio, y los hígados de pollo divinos. Visitar hoy, sin embargo, me entristece descubrir que se ha producido un deterioro en la calidad de la comida. El servicio, aunque muy educado, estaba un poco descuidada, con cubiertos de paquete sobre la mesa, y largas esperas para pedidos del desierto y la factura (a pesar de ser los únicos clientes en el restaurante). El tabbouleh makdous y eran incomibles demasiado sal y vinagre. Los hígados de pollo estaban mal cocinada, y unseasoned - solían ser deliciosos, y la parte de ensaladas para el plato principal era muy triste. El baklava no estaba bien. Realmente decepcionado, como solía ser, y que nos darán gratis baklava porque fuimos tan a menudo! No vamos a volver.

Nos solía ser asiduos en color granate, comedor en persona y ordenar a través de Deliveroo. Intentamos de nuevo recientemente, y el menú parece haber cambiado para peor (gestión de cambios? Las salchichas) solía ser perfecto - Por qué ellos en tomé flatten duro? La ensalada se sirve con la carne a la brasa era fuerte con cebollas y sumak - ¿por qué intercambiar para una ensalada normal, aburrido? Los precios también han subido. . . No es del todo malo, pero no tan bien como antes.

Pomegranate used to be a solid option for a good value meal, and we would frequently visit. The mezze platter, particularly the vegetarian one, was good quality and reasonably well priced. A couple of years ago, the vegetarian mezze platter was around £10 per person. It's now almost £15 per person. As the waiter pointed out to me, there may well be a few extra things on the platter, but I believe the quantity of other items have been sacrificed to accommodate these (only one falafel now, apposed to two, for example), so all-in-all it's about the same. A 50% price increase over two-three years is simply unjustifiable, and does not reflect increases in wages, rent etc. I'm well aware of costs involved in running a restaurant, and am usually not one to complain of perceived high restaurant prices, but £15 for a cold vegetarian meal for one, which requires little preparation time and washing up, is just not competitive with other options nearby. Apparently there was a change of ownership at the start of the year, a move which seems to have been for the worse. Oh, and they now automatically add a 10% service charge, even for two dinners! I'll miss going to Pomegranate.

I work nearby and this is my favourite place to eat on Cowley Road. The quality of the meat is very high, and I am always happy to go there. The manager Abdul is a great guy.

Pomegranate offers good food on the Cowley Road in east Oxford. It is in competition with some fantastic bars and restaurants there and with some other great Lebanese restaurants in Oxford.

Went here for a friends 40th Birthday. Good for everyone. Food wonderful and so much choice. Friendly staff.

We visited this restaurant during a recent visit to Oxford & we were not disappointed! We had no table reservation BUT we were greeted by a friendly staff member who happily showed us to a table. Buzzing atmosphere, very relaxed, staff in no rush to turn over tables. Extensive menu, reasonably priced. We ordered a sharing platter for starters & two main dishes. Huge portions of very tasty, fresh, well seasoned food. Recommend.

Cenamos aquí con mi familia y lo disfruté. Teníamos la carne vegetariana y compartir fuentes de mezzo muy agradable. Los principales campos que teníamos eran muy buenas. Todo el personal era muy cortés y servicial. Este restaurante es obviamente muy popular como en el momento en que la izquierda fue muy concurrido.

Fantastic menu with plenty of variety, you'll have to go a fair few time to try everything you want to. Very reasonably priced for incredible food in good portions. Friendly welcoming staff who care about you and always happy to make your experience the best.

A large group of us came to Pomegranate last night, with a very small amount of time for eating as we were on our way to a concert. Abdu was incredibly helpful beforehand about providing information for a pre-order from the set menu. We in...

first visit to this restaurant it was very busy but given a table the staff were very friendly . the food was reasonably priced and was well presented we had a platter which was like tapas and was tasty will try hot food next time...

We went to Pomegranate for a date night dinner, having wanted to try it for a while. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious. The staff were very attentive and the service efficient. A Cowley classic for a reason!

First time visit to Pomegranate. Extremely friendly staff and in general the food was well prepared and tasted good...however I don't think I would go out of my way to eat here or bring visitors here. The restaurant itself seems a bit tired but I would imagine it would be a good option for large groups, for shared tapas type plates.

Per la prima volta sono stato in un ristorante libanese e devo dire che mi sono trovato abbiamo scelto un paio dei loro piatti tipici con tantissime verdure. Buono anche il vino della casa che abbiamo assaggiato sia bianco che rosso. Nel complesso una piacevole esperienza. Il personale gentile e premuroso, il servizio molto veloce.

A group of us went there for dinner and had a great time. The services was friendly and professional. And despite a late start due to traffic they didn't rush us at all. Everyone really enjoyed the food. We would all go back again.

I stayed in Oxford for two months in the beginning of 2017 and ate at the Pomegranate almost once a week. Back home in Norway I miss it terribly and I sometimes dream that I'm back in Oxford only to eat at the Pomegranate! Best food I've ever had.

Food was really bland and just thrown together, told staff that the food wasn't very nice the guy just made a face didn't even say sorry, when asking to pay we get told their card machine isn't working, something they should of told us before even sitting down, overall it was crap and I won't be going there again.

Extensive menu allows you to tailor your meal exactly or choose a pre-selected platter, lovely lunch mezze style, delicious felafel, baba ghanoush, salad and mint tea, good, fast, unobtrusive service from our friendly waiter, pleasant surroundings and very good value. Have been several times before, would definitely return.

We ordered a mezze for two and it fed five of us! Portions were very generous, the food was delicious especially the creamy humus and the flat bread. We were very hungry so also ordered main dishes, but found it a struggle to finish them, despite them being really fresh and tasty.Wine selection was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Loos are at the back of the restaurant and a bit dark, but perfectly clean and serviceable. I'll definitely go again and recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting a fresh, tasty meal.

I've enjoyed every type of visit here, friends, couples, family, solo, business, and it's always soooo good. Best if you go with sharers (last night there was one scenette on the next table, "I don't do sharing", reminiscent of the IT Crowd Simply Red Tapas scene) forcing everyone into single-mealdom. The food is really good and the staff lovely.

No zingy zesty interesting Eastern Mediterranean flavours made an appearance on either the vegetarian or meat mezze 'speciality' plates. Where's the flavour gone chef?The bread was cold, flat rubbish.Lazy & formulaic.

We ordered the meat mezze and were not disappointed. We loved the spicey sausage dish, the potato dish and the tahini in particular. There was loads of food for two people. We ordered the house white which was good. It was £44 with wine so great value for money.

Loved this restaurant. We had the aubergine dish, prawns, tortilla and patatas bravas all were very tasty. I had the white Rioja which was great. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a great buzz.

I had the most amazing lunch at pomegranate yesterday. The food was fresh and extremely tasty, the restaurant clean and welcoming and the staff were lovely. Abdul the manager was very helpful in choosing our food and a great host. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thanks Abdul and the other pomegranate staff for a lovely afternoon.

I'd highly recommend going to Pomegranate. In my opinion the restaurant does not look to attractive from the outside but the food and service is truly excellent. We ordered 2 dishes - one vegetarian and one meat; both were great.In the summer there is some outdoor seating in the front next to the street.Prices: a dish is around £ 10 but I have seen that there are some lunch deal during the week.

We only had 40 minutes so we explained we were pressed and asked if this could be accommodated. The staff were charming and also straightforward. The food: hot, tasty, homemade and nicely presented with no fuss. Nice red wine (house). £39 for 6 hot Mezze of decent size and two large red. Fab. Thank you for your efficiency.

We had a work party of 13 with a mix of meat fiends and vegetarians. Abdul and the team at Pomegranate did a magnificent job, with all the mezze ready on arrival, and seamless provision of enormous and delicious main courses of grilled meats and fish. House white was excellent as was the beer and other drinks. Price was very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended for larger parties.

The food was very good, however, the Liver and the halloumi grilled cheese were very dry!

Le personnel est ok sans plus. Les plats manquent de goût. Beaucoup trop peu d épices. Tout est frais mais décevant par le manque d épices et de condiments

This Lebanese food was nice, and also very tasty. The service in general was good and fast. The quantity was also perfect. It isn't cheap.

This is our second visit to Pomegranate having had an excellent meal previously and we weren't disappointed this time. The service is excellent and the food is excellent. This is a great place to eat if going to the O2 Academy or The Bullingdon.

Really lovely food, we ordered the Mezze for 2 and had a table full of dishes! It arrived very quickly too!

Visiting Oxford for weekend and we passed this restaurant heading into city centre. It looked good & very popular on Friday evening so we tried it for a late lunch on the Saturday. Excellent decision! We had mezze plus meatballs, haloumi and a stuffed bread. All fantastic. Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely visit again.

I visited the Pomergranate kitchen just under a week ago and the service and the food was fantastic.I booked days in adance for a group of 10 to eat. The manager Abdul was great at explaining how the process worked. From the time we walked in to the time we left, our every need was catered to. The service was FANTASTIC, the food was very good and the portion size was more than geneorous.Despite booking a table for 10....13 showed up and this was catered to with great ease. The music and the general atomosphere was wonderful, very authentic!!If you looking for a great resturant with good food, and wonderful service. LOOK NO FURTHER....I recommned the Pomegranate kitchen with the highest possible regard :-)

Visited last night with friends . Very busy Friday . There were a few issues with the service like having to remind the waiting team about rice we ordered that finally arrived as we were finishing the mains . The sharing mezzes were great though .

We went on a Saturday night and the place was was packed to the rafters. They squeezed us in after half an hour and I am so pleased they did. The biggest issue was trying to choose what to eat as each dish that came out looked and smelt amazing. Perhaps a little more guidance so people don't over order would be a good idea. We didn't realise the portions would be soooo big. Excellent food at good prices. The wine wasn't so good though.

We had a great evening at Pomegranate. The atmosphere was great and the service was attentive from the staff. We shared the mezze platter to start, which was decent and had some nice things to try (in particular the sausages). For mains both the chicken sharwarma and kebab were enjoyed but unfortunately the kibbeh is not recommended- dry and flavourless. The wine list is interesting with some good Lebanese wine to try. Overall would recommend for an evening out with family or friends.

We really appreciated the Libanese food they served there. Falafels were very tasty along with the lentil soup. We also got some lamb mince - can't remember the name of the dish - and a mouthwatering moussaka. Great value.

Pomegranate really is one of the best Oxford venues for large (informal) group lunches. The service is fast and efficient; the menu is wide ranging, healthy and interesting; the food comes fast and is always reliable; and it's excellent value.Between five of us we ordered the majority of the small sharing dishes and none were disappointing, the flatbreads stuffed with a thin layer of lopsided lamb were particularly good. With drinks the total came to £13 each, which we thought was excellent value. Definitely recommended.
