Pollock fish and chips in Bath and North East Somerset

Great for when I dont want to cook.And I can request gluten free,which is not possible in any other fish and chip shop in either central Bath or this side of Bath.

Fish and chips for two was OK. Mean serving of chips and very thin cod. All very well cooked though. The man who takes the orders has no idea how to treat customers. I hesitated when he asked for my name as I couldn’t see why he needed it - given there was only one other customer waiting. He asked if I couldn’t remember my name. I also remember where there are better fish and chop shops that I will go to next time.

Poor quality and bad customer experience. Strange ‘hole in the wall’ chip shop. There’s a shop and counter but you have to order through the window and wait on the street for your food. Why are customers not allowed in? Covid was 4 years ago. Portion size average. Chips hard as rock, I think they’ve tried to go ‘triple cooked’ on the chips but over done it. Would not go back.

We treated my Mum to her favourite meal - cod and chips from Pollocks - for pre Mother’s Day supper. My Mum was over the moon - again! The batter on the cod was light and crispy, the cod was succulent, white and flaky, and the chips were to die for! In my view, Pollocks is easily the best chip shop in Bath. I have included a photo in this review - the chips in the pic are approx one third of a small portion as Mum has a small appetite (though she demolished all of this!!)

I don't understand the good reviews - I've been on three seaprate occasions since it opened years ago and it's been awful very time. Fish tiny and chips rubbish.

Had a delivery lovely fish and chips very pleased with food and the service good size fish would certainly recommend any one give them ago you won't be disappointed

Normally order from another place in the city using Ubereats but they have now stopped, so gave this place a first go and was very happy. Chips perfect, the battered haddock tender, mushy peas thick and not like water and the battered sausage cooked perfectly….will most definitely be ordered again once I’ve burnt the calories off from the last one 🤣🤣

In a pub, fresh, well cooked fish, great chips. Nice friendly pub, sport on TV, great friendly service and reasonable pricing. Everything to like, nothing to dislike. Will visit again.

Delicious battered fish and chips, always fresh, always super portions and with the most delicious gluten free batter you could ask for. Being a super sensitive coeliac, I trust very few places to eat out in Bath but these guys never fail to come up with the goods. I have never been glutened by Pollocks and always enjoy their food every time! As goes my gluten eating husband who happily gets GF as well! Great chips too by the way!

Excellent value and freshly cooked food. About half the price of a well known nearby takeaway. As it’s fresh can be a bit of a wait but worth it. Crispy batter and decent portions.

By far the worst chippy I’ve ever had. The chips were soggy as if they’d just been cooked in cold oil and the pie was definitely bought from the sainsburys down the road ( I’ve had it from there before). Wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

We've been getting our fish and chips from Pollocks for a number of years and until this evening had always been pleased. However, our experience today was very different indeed. The fish was very thin and must have weighed a lot less than a 'regular' piece of fish has done in the past. The greaseproof paper was covered in oil, and the chips must have been cooked in old fat as they left a really bad metallic taste in the mouth. We won't be returning, unfortunately.

Had a good takeaway here once before but yesterday was terribly disappointing. Thin slivers of overcooked fish in too much batter. Haddock and cod portions were approx 6” by 3” and about a centimetre deep. Dried out mushy peas. Chips were ok but everyone was left hungry and disappointed

My son wanted chicken nuggets not wanting to give him processed rubbish I ordered from Pollocks. Always fantastic fresh food. Arriving on time no problems. Tonight. Dumped on front door. Yes they knocked. But usually come the main road back way in. They missed a tip for driver. On top of any delivery charge. Keep training yr drivers. We really support them .❤ every person in hospitality is worth every extra penny.

Crispy batter on the large piece of cod and crispy chips. Highly recommend and seems very popular as lots of Deliveroo collectors

We ordered a home delivery. The food took a very long time to arrive. It was just warm and incredibly greasy. Nobody could eat their whole meal, and one of my daughters was actually sick afterwards.

This is definitely the best we have had in a very long time, best batter so light and crispy, chips homemade and light all that was delivered was excellent, will use this place again

We have just eaten the most excellent fish and chips, delivered by Uber eats. It arrived hot, the batter on the fish was crisp and light and the chips stayed Chrisp and deliciously eatable until the end. Thoroughly recommend them. Yum yum 😋

Allways good. the chips are lovely and crisp - they may be double cooked. I allways have haddock and it has never been any thing than good.

We couldn't find a menu online, but used the Just Eat website to choose what we were going to eat (cod and chips, battered sausages, 1/4 chicken). Imagine our joy when we arrived to find it considerably cheaper in the shop itself, and with a wider selection too.Things you need to know: You can ask for gluten-free batter, but there's no separate fryer, so it's not suitable for coeliacs.The jumbo sausage is twice the size of the regular, for only 40p more.The large chips is twice the size of a regular, for only 80p more, and even the greedy will struggle to eat a whole portion. You can ring up to order your food before you collect it. The cod was flaky and crisply battered. The sausage was tasty and huge! The chips are proper chippy chips, and even the regular is a generous portion. We'll be back!

Ordered the place and chips and gluten free cod and gluten free chips. They were both great for different reasons. Great mushy peas and curry sauce too! Had it as delivery and was nice and hot and crispy

Fish was fried well and tasted nice. Chips were over cooked and oily. Maybe cooked twice. Quite a long wait for what should be “fast food”.

Well worth seeking out this place - bit of a walk from bus station but then you find you can order and eat in the pub next door which makes it really nice . Wonderful fish and chips .

Mi esposa y yo no podíamos estar de acuerdo sobre qué cenar una noche, así que decidimos llevarlo. Nos decidimos por pescado y papas fritas, pero en realidad no valoramos el chippy local que está literalmente a 150 yardas de distancia. Había escuchado cosas muy buenas sobre este lugar, así que salí a caminar diez minutos. Pedí dos bacalaos y una porción de patatas fritas, recogidos y regresé a Oldfield Park. La comida aún estaba caliente cuando regresé a casa. Las patatas fritas eran muy grueso y todavía muy crujientes por fuera. El bacalao fue increíble. Buen batido crujiente, no nadando en grasa y el pescado en sí estaba húmedo y perfectamente preparado.

Hay algunas buenas tiendas de pescado y patatas fritas en Bath, pero las mejores patatas fritas vienen de aquí. We purchased a variety of Fish,Sausage & Chips to take away for a family of 15 during our pre Xmas weekend away. We had pre-ordered a couple of days before for collection at set time on Friday eve. Upon arrival the shop was very busy but our order was ready & well packaged & boxed & one of the staff carried it to the car for us. Great service but if you don`t like waiting pre-order. When we got back to our accommodation the food was still hot & was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The fish were cooked nicely with light batter & chips were non greasy. We will definitely go there again on our next visit to Bath.

Bought 2 large cod and chips on a saturday evening and was probably the best fish and chips we’ve e ever had. All the fish is cooked as ordered so a short wait is worth while . Parking available opposite in Dorset close , restrictions during the day but ok in the evening . Thanks , we will be coming here next time .

Pollocks is my new favourite chippy in Bath. The chips are amazing - crispy and chunky and big portions. Tasty...

A super little take away no frills fish and chip shop.

Recently decided to have a traditional English Fish n Chip supper. I went with the haddock the missus had the cod to go with our chips. We also chose a portion of curry sauce.

Ordered this evening via deliveroo but when the order arrived an item was missing. Rang Pollocks who gave me various options for how they would rectify it and chose for deliveroo to bring out the missing item. They then rang back as deliveroo were unable to or unwilling to do so, so they sent my missing item (a much larger portion than what I ordered) by taxi! Going over and above anything I would expect. The food was also delicious and so I will be ordering again in the future. Wonderful place.

This is my 3rd visit and I think these are the best fish and chips in Bath. The chips are amazing and the cod and plaice are both beautifully cooked with lovely crisp batter. The home-made tartar sauce is also really lovely . I think this is much better value than other pricier chip shops. We will be back.

We had a take away from Pollocks, last Friday evening. We hadn't had a takeaway from here before and so we thought we would give them ago.Can't say a bad word, we all had cod and chips, all of which were freshly cooked and tasted delicious.Not greasy, light fluffy batter on the fish, which seemed to melt in the mouth and really good chips. The curry sauce was very good too.The price was very competitive too and we thought significantly less than other fish and chip takeaways closer to the centre of town.Would highly recommend and we will certainly be going back!

When the sun decides to put in an appearance we often stop at Pollock's to pick up fish & chips to eat in Henrietta Park - a real little oasis just a couple of minutes from Great Pultney Street. The fish is always fabulous & often there is a choice, sometimes my favourite hake on the menu. I agree that sometimes the cooking could be better as the batter is not always as crisp as we'd like & the chips can be a bit anaemic.

We were hanging out for English fish and chips and we were most disappointed with the greasy fish and chips we purchased. Will not be back

i have never eaten in the restaurant, but have taken away squid and chips on my way home. I have to say that the service is not overly friendly and that's why I haven't ever eaten in. However, that squid is delicious.

For a lovely fish and chip lunch with a bottle of French Alsace wine this is a great stop off after your visiting Pulteney Bridge and gazing at the wonderful architecture. The kids are welcome and we were lucky enough to be tucked away in an isolated rear room so that noise was not an issue and it housed my large family. It was also reasonably priced and I came away 'packed to the gunnels!' After as you walk towards Putney Bridge there is a staircase that winds down to the River Avon and the weir and you can walk off your excesses beside the river.

A branch of pollocks opened up opposite our flat a few months back, and we have been there 3 or 4 times in that period.The fish is always cooked fresh, the batter is beautiful. The only time I think I have had better was looking out to sea in cornwall. I would thoroughly recommend this and especially the branch that is part of the Belvoir Castle on the Lower Bristol Road

Wow - the chips were hot, homemade and full of flavour. The fish was bang on, amazing crunch on the crumbs, beautiful texture on the fish and brilliant flavour. Finally got to have some UK mushy peas also, popping hot and also tasty. My partner had the battered sausage and said it was the best she's ever had too! Can't leave Bath till you've tried these guys fish and chips. Seriously! Address was wrong on Trip Adviser - I have notified them so hopefully that gets sorted. Check Pollock's website if lost like we did haha.

Had a lovely lunch here on a family day out. The food was tasty and hot and no-one talked much! A sign of good food in our family! We had various items and each one was great. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be back next time we visit Bath.

Heard about this place so thought we would try it out really lovely fish and chips only complaint was the chips although lovely were not very hot. My coffee had a fly in it but the waitress noticed it and changed it.

See what I did there with the title? God Im so witty. And the guys at Pollocks are so good at their chips. I honestly have to say they are the best chips I have ever tasted. And I have tasted more than my fair share.Went there on Saturday with my daughter (5yrs), and she piped up first with "Daddy these are brilliant chips". I was too busy hearing a choir of angels from deep fat frying heaven sing a chorus of halelujiah in my ears at the sacrifice of the humble tuber who endured the inferno of the oil to present itself, like a pheonix from the flames, into this perfect embodiment of our favourite carbohydrate.They honestly were that good. The obligatory fish (why do chicken,pies and sausages etc in a fish and chip shop? If you dont like fish go to mcdonalds or wherever), was a "touch" (and I am being really picky here) overcooked for me. But still b******y lovely.I went for the large cod, and probably wouldnt again, because I was uncomfortably stuffed after eating it.....and I am a greedy s*d. Normal cod next time.But oh God it was so good. No pretentions, no side salad (why would you want lettuce with fish and chips for christs sake), just honest to God well cooked fish and chips. The food that helped us win the war.I hoped it would be as good at the fish and chips of my youth, all beef dripping and newsprint. It wasnt....it was so much better.
