A lovely experience in a great location; hotel is perfectly located (in a small city). Service is excellent with all staff friendly and accommodating.

Loved staying at Broadstreet Townhouse. The room was lovely. Great little touches like old style radio, real milk ground coffee and cafetiere. Plus a complimentary mini bottle of prosecco on arrival. Bed very comfy. Breakfast delicious! Within walking distance to everything and two nearby car parks.

Excellent customer service from start to finish, location was perfect…. away from the hubbub but close to most things, certainly the ones important to us. Breakfast was superb, coffee delicious. Only gripe was our room (7). Smaller than expected and very warm. So much so, the fan was on upon our arrival ! The window needed to be kept open which meant we had the noise of the industrial kitchen fan early morning and our city view (as stated in our room description when booking) was a back yard including a big flue and lots of pigeon nets! That aside, the bed was very comfortable and the Bramley toiletries a lovely luxurious treat.

The Townhouse is very well situated in the centre of Bath. Despite stretching our Pension, we had booked for a 2 night treat. The room was as expected and very nice, although the advertised Smart TV had no internet signal. (had I known I could have brought our FireStick to plug into the TV). So we looked forward to eating in the adjoining pub, The Pig and Fiddle: We ordered 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 sweet and 3 bar drinks each which came to a staggering £117.06. I later found out that included a 10% service charge even on drinks I collected from the bar myself. AND then when this was added to our hotel bill, a further 20% VAT was added, so that's double VAT ON DRINKS? This made the pub meal an eye-watering total cost of £140.47 - and I stress, this was just a pub. No crisp table cloths and silver service. As for the meal, the first two items we ordered were not available and the surviving offering were a sort of shredded lamb oblong rissole at £9.25 each plus (we only later realised) a 10% Service charge and 20% VAT. I had a beefburger and my wife had the smallest SeaBass fillet I have ever seen, overcooked and dry, atop of a pile of unpeeled boiled potatoes and a few uncooked green beans @ £20.25 +10% + 20%= £26.73. Such a fillet of reasonable size can be bought in a supermarket for £1.44. Total ingredient cost about £2 - cooking time about 10 minutes, although it took considerably longer to arrive. My wife then chose a crumble which was tiny and burnt black on the base from incorrect reheating. At breakfast which was not in the pub, but an integral café, we were apprehensive as to what to expect but having paid over £30 in advance for breakfast to be included we were pleasantly surprised to have the best Eggs Benedict that we have ever experienced - anywhere. (obviously a different Chef). And you could say - so it should for that price for 4 poached eggs. For our second night, we ignored their regular Wednesday night offer of 20% discount and found a delightful Thai restaurant where three courses, drinks and charming service cost a total of £67. Next morning was my birthday so I looked forward to a Full English but was shocked to find the menu had quietly changed overnight to include a surcharge, just for the full breakfast, "for hotel guests" of £4.50 ! This charge was neither on the menu the previous morning nor mentioned when we booked room and breakfast. My protest fell on deaf ears so I never got my full English and the wife never got her porridge (no surcharge) as the chef who could cook perfect Benedicts – had not mastered cooking Oats as we were told he had run out of porridge. My offer to nip to the nearby Waitrose to get a box of Quaker was embarrassingly declined. During our stay, a total of 5 items we ordered were not available. When we booked out, we had to complain in front of other breakfast diners but got no receipt or printout of costs. Their phone is hardly ever answered so it took 3 emails before they sent the paperwork, revealing what they had actually taken from my Visa Card. So unless you want to spend your stay in wonderful Bath complaining, (and we did get some of the overcharge back, strangely including a £9.90 refund for the Full English surcharge which I had refused to pay so never got it), my advice is to just book the room, and have your meals and drinks at Bath’s hundreds of other delightful pubs and restaurants. This is a Chain of Pubs with Rooms marketed by Butcombe Brewing Company who seem to have mastered the art of fooling most of the people most of the time.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay. The room was small but ideal for our needs. Breakfast was varied and excellent quality. The staff were all very friendly. An ideal location for exploring Bath. There is a quirky cafe that becomes the breakfast room in the morning and also a lovely pub attached to the accommodation. My wife and I would stay again. However, check room availability if you find stairs a challenge.

Our stay was so disappointing, we raised a complaint whilst there but nothing was done. We endeavoured to follow it up with 3 calls afterwards, none of which were answered and despite leaving messages, nobody called us back. Our main issues were as follows: 1. The shower drain was blocked which meant anything other than a 2 minute shower flooded the bathroom and water ran into the bedroom. 2. An unauthorised transaction was put through on our credit card. We have NO idea what this relates to. 3. The room was too hot and the window only opened an inch. 4. The carpet smelt of dog. 5. Lots of simple things on the breakfast menu were unavailable each day eg spinach, porridge, croissant (why not just go to the supermarket?) 6. The bathroom radiator didn’t work so we couldn’t get things dry during our rainy stay.

Booked a two night break at this boutique hotel as it looked like a cool place to stay. It really was the opposite!!! Our room (number 3) was so hot that my wife and I found it almost impossible to sleep despite the presence of two Dyson air coolers which were completely useless. Complained after the first night and they provided a fan which made the second night slightly more bearable but not much. Room was described as snug, no kidding!! You couldn’t swing a cat in it, also the double bed was shoved up against the window so my poor Mrs had to shove me out of the way when she needed the bathroom during the night. Breakfast was ok but the service was haphazard. Tea had gone cold by the time our food arrived, asked for some butter which they must have sent out for as it took so long to arrive. My wife was told that she’d have to wait!! Weird setup. It’s managed from the pub next door which closes at 10 so there’s nobody around if you get back late and have a problem. Next time I’ll book a proper hotel with a manned front desk and proper facilities. This just felt uncomfortable on many levels. Pretty poor experience overall.

Was really looking forward to our weekend in Bath and initially was really pleased with this small hotel in terms of our greeting, its location and the quirky nature of the decor and rooms. Breakfast facilities looked great too (which they were). However when we got to the room, we were surprised how small it was and how little room we had. What was more disappointing was how warm the room was..... it was stifling! We had a Dyson fan in there (will never get one of those!) and was asked if we wanted another which was supplied. However, it was so warm we could hardly sleep. I would have thought given the amount we paid, the room would have been larger and more comfortable.

Really lovely & quirky hotel - would return here. The Townhouse is about a 15 min walk from Bath station. I had a heavy suitcase & wish I’d had a taxi. Once you arrive - the Townhouse is right in the heart of Bath - less than 5 mins walk from The Ivy for example. On arrival - I was a bit nervous - the grey door to the rooms was a) locked and b) had heavily peeling paint. It wasn’t a great start BUT once I went ‘next door’ to the pub I was met by a very friendly & very helpful member of staff. It was an exceptionally hot day & the staff were apologetic about the potential heat I might find in my room. There was absolutely no issue. My room was beautifully cool- with a fan & a big AC unit. I was so grateful. Extremely narrow & steep stairs to the room - which I don’t think was mentioned beforehand.Staff helped carry my bag upstairs. My room was very pretty & super comfortable. I had a large kingsize bed, all the linen & towels were beautiful quality. There was complimentary water, Prosecco & IPA lager in the mini fridge. Good quality local coffee provided for the cafetière. Breakfast could be in the room or in the cafe on the ground floor. It was beautiful with fab coffee again. So - in summary- I came for a 1 night stay for work. I would happily return for a longer social trip of a weekend / few nights. I think the Townhouse could benefit from a bit of a tidy up of the outside. When I arrived and found the grey, peeling door I thought - ‘Oh no! Where am I?’ But - once in my room I really loved it/ had a great sleep/ loved the location. & would definitely return & recommend without hesitation. Thank you

We stayed here for a graduation event in Bath. We startedd off the visit requesting a slightly earlier check-in (2.30pm) having visited reception earlier in the day at around 12pm. The receptionist said she would call to confirm if this was feasible. We didn't get a phonecall but returned at 2.30pm to see if the room was ready. The same receptionist gave us a key to the room but made no mention of the lack of a call to confirm the room was available. Great that the room was available early, but pretty poor that there was no call. When we got to the room it was ridiculously hot. There is no air-conditioning in the room and the Dyson fan (even on max speed) was just pushing hot air round the room. The bedroom window has a security chain on it so it couldn't be opened more than a fraction, so no way of getting any air flow through the room. Bear in mind this was not a hot summers day - it was overcast and maybe 22C outside. The fridge which was switched on and pumping heat out the back wasn't working on the inside, everything in it was warm. The wash basin cold tap pumped out hot water and needed to be run for at least 2 mins before anything approaching cool came out. The shower controls for changing the temperature didn't work - they were locked in place and couldn't be turned, even when you pressed in the little release button. When we got up this morning to make a tea and coffee there was no milk in the room. Whilst the room looked nice it was tired around the edges, with peeling paint in the bathroom ceiling and rotting window frames. There is no lift in the hotel and the staircases are very steep and narrow. Not a massive issue in itself, but no mention of this on the website to allow you to make an informed choice. On leaving the hotel this morning, when handing in the key to check out neither of the staff at reception had the courtesy to ask how our stay was - good job really. Safe to say that we won't be returning to this hotel and wouldn't recommend it for the price, facilities or service.

We stayed for a long weekend, and overall the experience was Positive. They are understandably/deservedly busy which has to be good in these challenging times. The breakfasts were exceptional, and the staff very friendly and helpful - especially Mabel. House keeping was of a high standard too. We had Sunday Lunch and the beef was very flavoursome, and nothing was too much trouble. Parking is nearby and you are certainly in the heart of Bath with this location, and all main attractions are within easy access by foot. Suffice to say we will be returning.

We booked this hotel for a one night getaway, after seeing online that it looked lovely. However the experience we received unfortunately didn’t match up. Upon arrival, we were unsure where to go and we were left standing with lots of bags in a busy bar, that was severely understaffed. Once we were taken next door to ‘check in’ we were given two keys, one for the room and one for the front door to the hotel’ and was told it’s pot luck as to which one is which. Again not the best experience. The room itself was fine, however it was a bit confusing with the ‘complimentary drinks’ with differing notes to what was complimentary and what wasn’t - on the menu, to what the lady who checked us in said and the welcome letter - so we decided to not help ourselves… The tea and coffee station was also not very inviting with packs of coffee already ripped open? When it came to breakfast I ordered the avocado with poached eggs on toast, this was nice but I was only given one egg despite multiple being on the menu. My partner ordered eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was cold and the eggs were well done with a hard yolk! Quite disappointing. We both agreed that this hotel felt a bit like an afterthought to the pub next door, which is a shame as if there were more staff available on site and the cafe remained open it would’ve been a more inviting experience with greater opportunity to address these concerns.

Absolutely loved my stay here over Christmas. The room was decorated with such a good taste, it was pure lux to be chilling in. The bathroom also perfect with lovely soaps and lotions. The radiators were super powerful. Classic fm on the Robert’s radio. Complimentary drinks at the mini fridge. Breakfast service was perfect, you got a coffee of your choice and could choose breakfast from the menu, from porridge to eggs florentine to full breakfast. Also the mini pain au chocolats were delicious. The staff were very friendly. Lastly the location was ideal, still in the centre of Bath but tucked away just a little bit. The pub next door had a cozy atmosphere and brilliant live music. Just what l needed from the stay, perfecto! The townhouse has a lot of old characteristics and single glazed windows, which l personally love but l could see someone who is a light sleeper or just wants total silence from a hotel room this might not be the place for them.

Lovely townhouse next door to the Pig and Fiddle, right in the middle of town near everything. Rooms were nicely decorated, compact but had everything we needed for our stay. The complimentary Prosecco and Butcombe IPA was a nice touch. Breakfast was a nice affair and with a good selection of food. Be mindful that the hotel is more like a B&B in practice, with no reception to speak of, more of a floating assistance from the pub next door. Due to the age of the building, the floors and walls are quite thin, and traffic noise on the road is easily heard. If you are a light sleeper, I’d suggest staying elsewhere, especially at weekends when revelry is common.

I was highly disappointed with my stay at broadstreet townhouse. I had booked the superior room, and especially specified the booking for the roll top bath. The only reason I had booked this hotel was for the bathtub in the room, and when we arrived we were told it was not available due to a broken toilet. We were not told prior at all and had absolutely no warning, and therefore not given the opportunity for cancellation which is not acceptable. If we had been told as we should have, we would have booked somewhere else that met our requirements. Additionally, we requested a breakfast hamper over email which was confirmed, and reminded the receptionist upon checking in. She said she would remind the chef and it would be delivered. It was not and the hamper was never given to us. Further, we were placed on the lowest floor and I had booked room 8 with the bathtub for its top floor location and away from the street. Therefore we slept poorly hearing cars pass all night and beeping horns in the morning. When checking in we were also told it was an upgrade, which is not true. It is simply the same superior room though without a bath or top floor location, therefore if anything a downgrade. I had emailed this complaint three times to reception and never received a reply.

We stayed here for my boyfriends Christmas present. We had a big room on the first room, initially it looked beautiful however upon further inspection there was quite a few marks on the wall that needed painting over. The bathroom was nice with a big walk in shower however moisture was a bit of an issue and when showering a lot of the water came off the shower tray. The street at night was very loud and we had a group people sat outside on the steps until 4am in the morning talking very loud - obviously there isn’t much the hotel can do about this and they did offer ear plugs. Breakfast was ok, it was very busy and it took over an hour and half to finish due to long wait times. Overall the stay was ok, the room could do with a bit of a refresh and breakfast could have been quicker but apart form that the location and place was lovely.

What a great find. We stayed 5 nights over Christmas in two rooms (the room move was our choice - and glad that we did). For the first 4 nights we enjoyed room 4 which was a Signature Plus room; spacious and warm. Bed was comfortable and we slept very very well. For the last night we stayed on the top floor in room 8 which was a Signature room; cosy and a little cooler but we slept so very well there too. Room 8 has a great bath feature in the bathroom. The staff were very accommodating and helpful - particularly Matthew. The breakfasts were exquisite! They were hearty and so tasty. You can choose from an a la carte breakfast menu. Overall our stay was great and we would highly recommend The Broad Street Townhouse.

So don’t let it put you off. We parked in Charlotte Street long stay car park (around 5 minutes walk). You can check with them prior to arrival and drop your bag outside the front. Accessibility: It’s in the name ‘Townhouse’… there is no lift and all the rooms are upstairs. If you are unable to do stairs, I would not recommend this accommodation. Location: Great central location for all the shops, bars and restaurants at your doorstep.

We had a very nice stay at The Broad Street Townhouse - it is a very cosy and super-welcoming boutique hotel in a perfect spot for exploring the city of Bath. Our room was spotless, comfortable and very well-equipped and breakfasts (served in the charming coffee shop downstairs) were great. The hotel forms one half of a building with the Pig and Fiddle pub as the other half but this arrangement didn't result in any noise or disturbance. That said, if noise is an issue for you it might make sense to ask for a rear-facing room (if they have them) to minimise road noises in the night - but that is no reason not to visit what is a lovely small hotel.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend and was really excited to be going to Bath as it’s somewhere we have both wanted to visit for some years. My husband found this hotel and it looked perfect from pictures. A little pricey for one night but nice things cost money. We had room 9 on the third floor. Nice room, not huge in size but it’s an old townhouse so we wasn’t expecting it to be massive. First impressions were great. Then sadly went into the bathroom which was nicely decorated, great floor and wall tiles. But goodness me, the ceiling had paint missing exposing the bare plaster, there was pieces of pant peeling away and the dust! I know I wasn’t on Four in a Bed but the artificial plants on the shelves hadn’t seen a cleaner or duster in some time. It was thick with dust. Quite disgusting really. The toilet seat was wonky and moved each time I sat on it. The walls in the room were all marked and scuffed, which I get as people walking past the bottom of the bed to get to the bathroom, it’s going to happen. However, these were again quite bad. There were; what appeared to be water marks at the top of the wall by the ceiling running down to the bathroom door. The dressing pillows were velvet and had white stains on them. Again not nice to see. The bed was a good size but not the comfiest but that’s not the hotels problem as not all mattresses will suits all guests. For me, it was on the hard side. The breakfast is in the Coffee & Cocktail shop below the rooms. Lovely little area that isn’t open to the general public for breakfast, which was nice. Sadly, the hash brown was frozen in the middle and put me off. We couldn’t raise these issues with anyone as we didn’t see any staff on site. I think to pay £200 for one night is expensive when you are not getting the £200 experience. If this had been £120-150 it would be value for money. But sadly the breakfast and condition of the rooms, it’s not.

As a present to my husband on his 65th birthday I booked a night in a Signature Plus room at Broadstreet Townhouse. I splashed out on an extra special room as it was a significant birthday. After I had booked it, we decided to stay an extra night so I added one night to our booking on Booking.com. As there were no Signature Plus rooms left for the second night, we had to book the cheapest Snug room. The room was very small, the tv didn’t work and there was a huge kitchen fan outside the window. Earplugs were provided in the room (and we soon discovered why!) On my husbands birthday we were surprised to find that we had not been moved to the Signature Plus room that we had paid for! We asked to change rooms, but were told that there were none available! So…….we spent the second night in the same cramped Snug room. We tried to talk to the manager about it (twice) but were told that he was not available, so we spoke to Leo the Deputy Manager. He was unable to help as he said he didn’t have authority to do anything. Then unbelievably when we got home, we discovered that Broadstreet Townhouse had taken £135 out of our bank account despite Booking.com quoting us £117 (and that price was for the Signature Plus Room not for the Snug room that we actually stayed in). We emailed them but never got a reply so we eventually phoned and managed to get £17 back, but we are still around £20 out of pocket - plus any relaxation that we thought we would get from our two days away in Bath, was completely ruined by terrible customer service. It’s strikes me that this hotel is one of those places where if all goes to plan it’s a great place to stay. However, if something goes wrong, the staff bury their heads in the sand and hope the problem just goes away. Just bear this in mind if you thinking of staying there.

Visited for Sunday lunch, the staff were so friendly and the place is lovely. It was to celebrate a special occasion so they even let us dine in the private room! The roast dinner was on the cheaper side compared to other places but I do feel the portion was small, however it did mean there was room for dessert! The roast however was really tasty. The tiramisu was too alcohol strong for my liking but the other desserts were great. I wound definitely return. Was also amazing to see gluten free options marked up on the menu.
