Its great to have a takeaway that serves proper tasty chips that are hot and not greasy! There is a good range of fish, pies, sausages and burgers on offer. My only complaint is that my Mum won't let me eat here more often! I thought chips could be one of my five a day.

Wonderful food, always is, and lovely friendly people who are always so welcoming. Just the best fish and chips around and always worth the journey for us, as we don't live locally so it's a bit of a treat. Been eating there for several years and still love going there every time.

In42 years of living in this area we have never had such disgusting fish and chips.£15.40p for 2pieces of cod and 1 large chips. At gone 17.30 one would not expect to be served chips from lunch time,and the fish did not taste fresh and was paper thin.Having worked in a fish & chip shop some years ago I am supprised that this shop is still in business.By the time we got home(just off Decoy Drive)our meal was all but cold,and it was in a bag to keep it hot.

Placed a large order of battered sausages with chips and several cod and chips for scout camp. Booked it for delivery for 18:15 and the order not only turned up on time but with a huge smile. Each portion was individually wrapped, marked with what It was and most importantly tasted amazing after a 15 mile hike. Would highly recommend Polegate Fisheries and will definitely be using them again.

I’ve worked in a few chippies and eaten in many more and Polgate fisheries is at the very top of my list of fish and chip takeaways .

I have frequented this plaice many times of the last 5 years and always get great service and the food is so tasty.

Food is ok but had to wait over 40 mins for takeaway food which is unacceptable . Staff disorganised people waiting all Over the place . People getting served before you despite you ordering well before them . Would not use again the other fish and chip shop on the High Street is far better and you don’t need to grow old waiting for your food. Don’t waste your evening waiting for average food

Gone downhill recently. Deliveries take priority over walk ins, wait time ridiculous and the chips resemble scraps. Probably the worst I've ever purchased, not eaten as couldn't stomach it.

2 small tasteless sausage in batter plus chips £5.20 - chips only just warm & seemed like re heated from lunchtime. ROUGH!

i have been using Polegate fisheries since we move to the area two years ago never had a bad meal fish is fresh chips are great and the staff are always friendly. order first then collect they are very busy. i would highly reccomend. kevin mcneill

Family run business, absolutely brilliant. Staff are polite and professional Food is a complete nostalgia, my first bite took me right back to when I was little. They actually serve great chips! (Not soggy) Sometimes that's what works, simple family run fish and chips.

After waiting 10-15 minutes for sausage in batter & chips -chips cold .sausage boiling hot & tasteless disgusting won't be back

Very average fish and chips, fish was over cooked and dry and the chips were soggy and insipid. The best part was the batter. Won’t be rushing back.

Thought we would give the polegate fisheries a try but was so dissapointed. The fish was so thin and the chips were tastless. Such a shame. Wont be returning

Working from home and all the family turn up, nothing in so fish n chips it is , great friendly staff and fantastic fish n chips, only danger is family will turn up again when working from home, for the great food.

This plaice, sorry for the pun is CASH ONLY, so beware no cards of any sort are taken. Bit old fashioned these days. They cook gluten free food on Tuesday and Wednesdays, with everything cooked to order so there is a short wait. But portions are good and nicely cooked. Parking is not very easy.

This is my local fish and chip shop of choice. Fish is always cooked fresh and chips are an excellent quality. Owners and staff are always friendly and efficient. I would recommend to all.

Fish was good, chips ok but battered sausages disgusting. Obviously buy the cheapest of sausages and they are foul. A shame because the fish was good.

We have used this Fish & Chip shop for years. Nick and his team provide the best fish and chips around, always with a smile. We wouldn’t go anywhere else, would definitely recommend.

Friendly staff but disappointing chips this time

My partner and I recently tried this fish and chippy. We struggled to find any that had gluten free options. I was happy to find these guys do and the batter honestly doesn't taste any different! I really appreciate the extra effort. Would reccomend to anyone. Lovely food. Lovely staff.

We have been coming here for years. Well so long infact, that the previous owner Mrs McVee had it Unfortunately, the last couple of times has been dissappointing, so we are giving it a break for a while. We will go back in time and I trust it is back to the standards we have become accustomed to. If so, I will up it to four or five stars.

A great traditional fish and chip shop. Been there for years. With the owner and regular staff, which are always friendly and happy. Plenty of traditional choices that you'd get in a chippy. Made often fresh on order. Reasonable prices. Usually plenty of free parking outside.

Sadly after enjoying fish and chipsca while back have revisited several times but wont go back as the food is just not great at all.Burgers are obviously cheap meat and overcooked.. portions are very small for price..chicken always dry and taste like 'the day before food'..It seems to be busy all the time but realistically I feel it may be convenient as no takeaways in the are as it certainly cannot be for the food.Sadlyvwont visit again

Mum being gluten free found the gluten free fish fantastic but the gluten free chips were not so good. Not easy cooking gluten free food. Standard non gluten fish etc highly recommended for but as for the gluten chips maybe not so much.

First time back after a while, and we really enjoyed an impromptu meal purchased here after a visit to the Eastbourne DG Hospital for a friend.

Food is nice portions but a bit pricey. I dont eat regularly there but do on occasion if i want to eat in.

Yes it's fish and chips!! but it is good fish and chips, even at peak times the chips are done in small to medium batches so that they are not " held " for too long , making them " soggy " The staff are friendly , and talk to the customers even at peak times keeping them informed of any waits and hold ups , that way you feel as if your " special " not just a body to be served. BTW there are other items on the menu apart from the staple fish and chips.

I have been going to polegate fisheries every since I can remember and I and very close with the owner. I have seen how friendly they are to us and the other customers, if you are new to the polegate fisheries you will become friends with them very easily. They are wonderful people and the cook incradiable food. They also do mushy peas, gravy, pickled eggs, pickled onions and gerkins and many more things. The food there is very well priced and great quality. I definitely recommend everyone should go there.

Nicest fish and chip shop in the area by far, hit it at the wrong time and you will have a little bit of a wait but it is worth it and it means you get freshly cooked food.

Absolutely delicious food and friendly staff. Best in Polegate and probably best in East Sussex. Still holds up as the best food place on the high street after all the years of running.
