Pocha Korean Restaurant in Sheffield

I can't tell you how authentic it is, but it's utterly delicious. I came with a couple of other people and between us we shared 3 mains and 2 starters, and everything was amazing - gimbap, fried chicken, tteokbokki. I highly recommend it if you've never tried South Korean food before, and I really appreciated the non-spicy options

The food is decent, but the dining environment is too bad. The service attitude of the waiter is also very perfunctory. We are happy to eat, not just to look at our faces... The service attitude needs to be improved, and the restaurant environment needs to be improved.

Horrible customer service🙄 When we got there, only two big tables and a tiny two-person table near the entrance were left. Since we were planning to order quite a bit, we asked to sit at a big table. The old white man who is the owner led us to a big table in the back that looked like it was for staff meals. That was already odd, but it was understandable. But! then things got worse. The old white man had a horrible attitude. We didn’t see the chopsticks in the wooden box on the table, so we asked him for some. Instead of saying anything, he just pointed at the box, rolled his eyes 🙄, and walked away. You’re in for a treat at Pocha, where you can enjoy their eye-rolling service 😬

Went here on a Saturday evening with some friends, restaurant extremely popular and lively. Very busy so there was some wait for food which is fine as we just chatted to ourselves. Was served banchan (side dishes for free) which was a nice touch. Our food was amazing, I've been to most of the Korean restaurants in Manchester and this one was really top notch. We offered gimbap, fried chicken, tofu stew, bibimbap, jjolmyeon. Everything extremely tasty 😋 Definitely would recommend and come back!

Casual dining place and great food!

The food is very good with noticeable depth of flavour. The prices are reasonable. It's a small, uncomplicated restaurant. Certainly value for money. What needs attention is cleanliness. The plastic tablecloth was filthy and my sleeve got stuck on some dried in food.

Lovely place we found when walking around Sheffield. Nice homely feel with friendly staff. First time trying Korean food and would definitely come back.

The food was nice, a little pricy but generally fit the taste. However, I am not sure what was the intention behind the treatment but the senior white male staff kept sighing, rolling eyes and mumbling whenever we had standard requests eg hot water. This upset my guests because they thought they somehow offended him which is nonsense to me. Hope this doesn’t happen again to any future customer.

The service here is great! I spilled my beer by accident and they gave me another one for free without me even asking :) I had the beef bibimbap which was amazing - huge portion, delicious tender beef and veggies done perfectly, plus free kimchi and pancake on the side. Highly recommend !

Really tasty Korean food with a nice outdoor seating area. Very friendly staff.

Good atmosphere and also really good food even though I only had the tteokboki. The restaurant does get pretty warm so make sure to get like a refreshing iced drink there.

Bizarre and rude interaction with the man on the phone when I called to ask about ordering to take away. Was told they couldn’t accept orders over the phone because once someone ordered and didn’t show up apparently.. ok, no worries. I then politely asked how long it usually takes, and suggested coming to pay, and returning to collect, as I live very close by. He sighed in exasperation and rudely said something to the effect of he didn’t have time for this - it would have taken less time to just say “20 minutes” or whatever it is, and not be rude to your customers. It’s a shame as the food is pretty good, but this experience put me off to be honest. Never been spoken to like that as a customer! Awkward and strange

First time I have been in this place and food was so delicious and best customer service as well. I have tried several different places and so far this is the only one can taste close to the food that I have had in South Korea. Definitely going back again.👍

Not very great service. Older guy- very awkward, ignores when customers say excuse me - sorry if it's hearing issue Younger guy- serves customer with an attitude. Wanted to get some napkins as none was provided first place (We needed 6-7 as we were a group of 4 and I don't think this was much to ask when we were having very saucy dishes) but he looked very annoyed at this request. I should have known this place was BYO napkins, apologies Food- very mediocre, nothing special. Shame that this place represents korean cuisine in this area. The only thing to praise is the fried chicken In general, it is not a very pleasant place to visit

Visited here with my daughter who is studying Korean. Please dont be put off by the 4stars i have given for the food. Its not that it wasnt nice, indeed, what i did have was very nice, its just that i think Korean cuisine is not really my thing. Couldnt fault the staff, very attentive and polite. Its only a small place sitting probably about 50 people max. Price was what i expected.

My go-to place when I want to grab lunch with colleagues. The fried chicken is excellent but there are lots of other delicious things on the menu. Ethereal K-pop establishes a strong vibe and the portions are generous to the point of being almost overwhelming. One of my favourite places to eat in Sheffield

Great food & a very friendly host . The Kimchi arrived almost immediately as part of service with a couple of pancakes & was excellent . Other half tried the fried chicken & I had a beef & rice dish , both very tasty . Will definitely be back .

Great Authentic Korean food. Really good choice and the food tasted delicious. Having lived in Korea for 10 years it's nice to find a place which serves authentic Korean food. Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken. A great place for lunch or a date.

Lovely food and nice staff. The dumplings were excellent, we had veggie dumplings & glass noodles in seaweed, very tasty. The mains were all good, and big portions too. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely, but they had the heating set a bit too high for our own comfort. It may have been fine for others though.

Nice food. The noodle is a little spicy for my daughter and they just gave her a special one with tomato source. So sweet!

Everthing we had she liked,we was the only non Asian people,which tells me this is very Authentic food,Lady chef brought my daughter a bottle of summer fruit drink from the goodness of her heart,highly recommended will be going back this Saturday

I was in town for work, wandered around looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled upon this. Very glad I did, tasty food, lovely service, nice atmosphere, very reasonable prices.

It’s not Korean food…. The taste is wired.

This is a Korean restaurant where the female Korean owner cooks in the kitchen. When you go here, everyone, whether Chinese or British, enjoys Korean food. When I go here, I order budae jjigae. It tastes like what I had in Korea. At the checkout counter, the female owner and her British husband are manning the counter. Although he is blunt, he sometimes says humorous things that make me laugh. It seems to be a hot place that Koreans who come to Sheffield always visit. I highly recommend it.

Went here on my lunch break for something different, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the gimbap (kimbap), and the server made sure it didn't have any of my allergens in it. It didn't take more than a few minutes and it came out piping hot which was welcome. I order the veggie option, and it was plenty of food and left me satisfied and ready to take on the rest of the day.

Foods really good especially the gimbap

I came here with my sister and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, will definitely be coming back here - 10/10 recommend!!

The portion was a bit smaller than I thought. However, the food tasted fine. The staff were friendly. So far, worth trying if you don't know what Korean food may be like, since they come in small plates and you can order different dishes to share and try. Yet, not the best one I’ve tried 😅😅😅

The food is impeccable, probably one of the best asian restaurants in Sheffield. The only thing holding back from 5 stars is the rudeness of the old guy manning the front. If he was slightly warmer and not rude, the entire experience would be much better. The wait staff are amazing though. It's just him. Food is 5/5. Do give it a go when you're in Sheffield.

Very good Korean food! The serving size is quite large and the taste is like Korean food you’d get in Asia. Highly recommend the bibimbap! And the korean fried chicken is like actual korean fried chicken in terms of juiciness and crispness. Highly Highly recommend for anyone who want actually good Korean food

Absolutely love this place, real gem of division street. Foods amazing, staff are humble and friendly. You get a lot of food for the price too. I recommend the chicken kimchi fried rice, and the original gimbap.

Korean here. Obviously not as good as food back in korea, however more than enough to satisfy my craving. Prices are absurd compared to korea, but it is considered normal here. I recommend the korean army stew :) I come here the most often out of all the korean restaurants in sheffield mainly because it's the most accessible for students living in city centre and the food is pretty good❤️

The food was really good. They served us complementary kimchi to start and it was so flavourful. Hands down one of the best kimchi I've ever had. I ordered the japchae with beef and seafood. It was very good. The noodles were the perfect texture and the flavours were amazing. They took a while to take our order, but once we ordered, the food came very quickly. The price was reasonable as well.

I think this restaurant does serve some authentic Korean food! I really enjoyed eating the food here. I would definitely go back again!

Rude customer service. Very impolite and I felt this guy was being racist a bit towards us. I want management to take some action, reply to me if you care.

The fried rice cake is very delicious! Just order a fried rice cake and a bowl of rice, then pour the rice into the fried rice cake and mix it with the soup to eat it, it is the best! ! ! Sorry when I eat fried chicken🙏 But I really want to know the opening time of this store. I didn’t see it on Google Maps. It was sold out three times before. T^T

Great food, complimentary dishes on order, staff are lovely, prices are affordable (£10-15 pp). Ordered the Beef Dubbap, Fried beef dumplings, and tteokbokki, all were delicious.

It’s a good place because all staff here are nice but the soft tofu soup of today has a smell of overcooked, I’ve been had it many times but seems the quality is getting worse time by time. The pancake and the other things are still good though, I feel sad today as the soft tofu soup is my favorite.

Went for dinner here last night and it was amazing. They were kind enough to bring some pancakes as a starter (for free) which were delicious, then had the fried chicken and beef. Service was great and friendly, will definitely be back soon.

Do not shy away because of lack of website, you can’t book in advance and their lack of social media, it only ads to the charm. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I loved it. The service, the food. There’s nothing complex, pretentious or over the top here. This is just food, food how it should be. Simple, tasty, big flavours. Food that makes you smile and satisfies the soul, makes you want more. Thank you 🙏

A nice place with awesome service and great food

The only restaurant I will visit in Sheffield for Authentic Korean cuisine, would 9/10 recommend! The flavours are very traditional and made authentically - reminds me of when I visited South Korea back in 2018. I ordered a vegetarian version of Naengmyeon (냉면) which usually arrives in one bowl, but the lovely chef suggested to split the bowls into two separate ones to try both versions of Naengmyeon and Bibim Naengmyeon (비빔냉면). My bestie ordered Bibimbap (비빔밥) and a cranberry soju cocktail, and finished the lot! Total cost for myself = £13 Total cost for my bestie = £20 Service is excellent and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. Will constantly be visiting to satisfy my cravings.

cocktails ate strong and the staff are lovely.

Every time I passed by this place was always packed so I really wanted to try it out. The kimchi rice was really good! Apparently their fried chicken is very popular but it didnt convince me : apart from the coating it was a bit tasteless and needed to be cooked a bit longer for me. I also ordered wedges with korean curry house but they took too long so I just ended up cancelling eat since I almost finished my meal. I wouldn’t mind to wait for freshly made potatoes but they should inform customers about the waiting time at first. The staff were helpful and people around seemed to enjoy their food. Prices seemed a bit more expensive than what we actually see in Sheffield for this sort of food I believe.

Fried chicken and dumplings are excellent 2 cocktails for £10 we had mojitos and long islands. Both great Good value for money Decent vegan options

As a big fan of K-dramas since C-19 hit three years ago I’ve been wanting to try some of the cuisine I see so often. So for my 69th birthday my friend took me to Pocha. So glad she did. Unlike another reviewer, I was enamoured with it. Firstly the name says it all. Pocha is Korean slang for comfort food. That’s why ramen noodles are on the menus, it’s a staple of many dishes. The restaurant is in the heart of the student district, I noticed several Korean students in there having a meal and a catch up with each other. The food was great. I had the fried chicken in sweet soy sauce, kimchee vegetable pancake and a taste or two of what my friend had. Don’t remember the name but it was hot soupy with soft tofu. I’ll get that next time. Loved the atmosphere, the World Cup with Korea vs Portugal was on the TV and we cheered along with the crowd. All in all it was great. It was a touch of Seoul in Sheffield. If you’re looking for tablecloths, and women in traditional clothing, giggling behind a fan do elsewhere.

It was OK. To be fair, by far the best Sheffield has to offer when it comes to Korean food but definitely not the best Korean food we've had in comparison to London based or even Leeds restaurants. I had the Kimchi Pancake which was good but a bit soggy, perhaps slightly undercooked. I also had the fried chicken which was really authentic, I wasn't a fan of the sweet sauce though. Service is also OK. Not necessarily bad but they're not the warmest and welcoming bunch they kind of just sit you at a table without saying anything, mutter once or twice, take your order and serve. Took a while for food to come and could tell they were rushed off their feet, but we did go on a Friday evening. Either way really pleased to have an authentic Korean restaurant in Sheffield.

Me and my korean husband had a lovely date night here. We met and lived in Korea together for years before we moved back to my hometown and we were so pleased to find this place that is a very authentic, friendly family run restaurant. My husband (who has been homesick for Korean tastes) said he felt like like he was back in Korea. Highly recommend!

As soon as you enter there you are mesmerized by the music and ambiance. The waitress greets you with a warm smile. Cozy atmosphere. I ate the best Korean food I've ever eaten in my life at this restaurant. I love Korean food. When I left the restaurant, not only was my stomach full, but also my soul. Thank you Pocha!

Absolutely loved our experience here. Everybody was lovely - the older gent who seated us, the waitress and the chef were all so warm and welcoming. I don't like the taste of fish, so I did ask for some changes to my meals. I asked for no fishcakes in my gimbap and in my tteokbokki. I thought that the staff would be a little annoyed about this, but they were super understanding. The chef even added bacon to my gimbap to replace the fishcake, and gave me some fried root vegetable (not sure exactly what it was but it was delicious!) to replace the fishcakes in the tteokbokki. She really didn't have to do this - I was expecting to receive the meals just with the fishcakes omitted - and it really shows how kind she is and how much she cares about her food. Plus, everything tasted delicious! I can highly recommend this restaurant and I would definitely visit again!

Really heart warming establishment with wonderful authentic Korean food (hard to find in the U.K.). Best Korean chicken and tteokbokki I’ve tried - compliments to the chef. Especially endearing decoration and since it is family run. My only suggestion is that service could be faster and some customers are walking away due to slow service. However it’s well worth the wait for the food.

Popped in on a drizzly Friday afternoon looking to try something different and I was not disappointed! The decor is hip and fresh, with a minimalist approach and open seating but that just makes it feel more cosy. Greeted by the host warmly and went in for a beer and tteokbokki. I was not disappointed! Such vibrant flavours and generous portions! Popped over after serving with Kimchi and pancake to accompany it and both were fantastic! The house Kimchi has a fantastic garlic flavour and worked well with the rich, thick tteokbokki sauce. Definitely one to try!

Food is really nice. Family-owned restaurant and they're all friendly and helpful. A little expensive but all very good quality and filling. Very nice atmosphere, lots of art and nice music. Not many good Korean restaurants in Sheffield so it's a welcome addition

I had ‘Sundubu jjigae’ in there. I’m satisfied 100%. It’s fantastic to have good real Korean food in Sheffield. Some Korean restaurants in Sheffield cook by Asian people, not Korean, so the taste is not the same as what I expected. But here it is good because of a chef from Korea. She’s good at cooking.

My son and I popped in for a quick lunch. We had the army stew (BUDAE JJIGAE) which was a dish for two that had an interesting back story. After the Korean war food was scarce and this dish was invented using 'American' supplies. We really enjoyed the food, the staff were friendly and attentive and the price was very reasonable. We can't wait to re-visit with the rest of the family and try some of their other dishes.

Many Korean restaurants in many foreign countries have provided modified Korean foods which are called fusion. This restaurant has also served modified foods and they are fundamentally good and might fit well with foreign people. But you can order original version instead of modified version and then you can enjoy the greatest Korean foods in England. Every trip to Sheffield, I've visited here and every foods and their services were really wonderful. Thanks for great foods and services.

Been twice now and the food was delicious each time, definitely the best Korean food I've had in the UK 😋 I personally thought the portions were quite big? I had the pork belly rice dish and I had enough to take home for lunch the next day.

The waiter had a very bad attitude towards Chinese people. I wanted to take away the soup because I couldn't finish it, but the waiter gave me a small box that was as big as my palm, which I couldn't fit in. I was extremely reluctant when I was asked to get another one. Never come again, farewell.
