Brilliant chippy. Queue was a bit long right up to closing but once we tucked in it was clear why. Lovely staff and always well cooked. Fed 2 people for £8

Seriously AMAZING fish and chips! Five of us shared what were possibly if not definitely some of the best fish fayre we've had in a while. Cooked fresh whilst we waited; the batter was a great colour, texture, and consistency. The chips were simply superb. Nothing to dislike - well done 👏 ✔️ 👍 👌

Sadly the service has slowed to the point where it's too slow for me... even taking into consideration that it's all freshly cooked. (Context: Waiting more than forty minutes for a single fish and chips on a Thursday night - I appreciate this will be ok for some people.)

Absolutely livid. Queued for 20+ minutes outside the shop. No movement at all. Out of nowhere 2 men from a running group roll up, having ordered beforehand, and collect umpteen orders. Whilst we’ve been standing there, the staff have been cooking for someone who was too lazy to queue. Did themselves no favours tonight. Al least 4 or 5 walked off o in disgust, including me. What a way to run a business. Shocking !!!!!

very friendly staff, and pretty quick service even when busy! The one complaint I would have is that the batter, on the fish and sausage was not crispy, and had more of a bready texture. The strong colourants in the batter also dye the food inside a yellow colour.

Just back from holiday so thought we would have fish and chips. Standard has really gone down the pan and prices really high. Meal was awful overcooked fish,really thick Greasy Batter and awful chips. Will not be returning soon, a real shame as we used regulary.

Fish, chips and curry sauce. Overcooked fish with thick soggy batter, greasy hard chips made from low grade potatoes and watery curry sauce. Looks like their oil hasn't been changed in a long while.No redeeming features whatsoever and £25 for 2 portions. I feel sorry for the staff working there. I felt obliged to write this as a warning. If you are the owner, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Chips were like rubber, vinegar tasted 10 years old, and they forgot the salt. I certainly do not wish to come back to this place.

We tried this chippy a while ago and weren’t impressed but thought we would try again in case it was a one off. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The food was soggy and the staff didn’t acknowledge us at all. We waited 30 mins and couldn’t even eat the food when we got home. We all had different meals and we all left it. Awful experience from start to finish. :(

Don’t go . It’s awful , waste of money for stodgy rubbish fish n chips . Fish is grey in colour , chips full of grease . Staff would be more suited to work at a mortuary .

Really busy place as the queue was outside, service was OK staff need to put on a smile. It's expensive but the food is lovely, there is a car park a short distance away.

We have been a few times and generally found it it be quite nice, however our most recent visit was midweek and it wasn't anywhere near as good as usual 😔

It has really gone down hill. Again tonight came home with fish and chips and it was all batter and no fish, so disappointed for the third time and the curry sauce was like water. Won't be going back wasting anymore money.

Won't be going again for a long time. Got back to open food to disgusting mushy peas that looked like they were a week old, congealed and stale looking. Water added, heated and stored but still awful Tasteless chips and burger. Bf ended up being sick shortly after eating

Absolutely shocking experience. Worst chips I’ve ever tasted, extremely greasy and fatty, had to throw over half of them in the bin. Curry sauce was disgusting, staff were rude. Ignored for about 25 minutes despite it only being 4pm and three people in there - only two of whom had ordered. Certainly won’t ever be going here again.

Chips were pale in colour and scraggy. Batter on fish was greasy.

One of my favourite fish bars and has been for a long time! Went in on 14/1/24 just before it closed and they were so generous with the portions and the two ladies provided awesome customer service! Could chat to them all night! Thankyou girls!

This used to be a lovely chippy - but not any more. Ordered a large chips but what we got was more like a small. They were very dry and over cooked. Mushy peas were cold. Pickled onions were not pickled, they were raw. A total waste of money. Won't be going back any time soon.

I’m a regular at this fish and chip shop as they do amazing chips, however I attended tonight at 8pm, an hour before their advertised closing time and the elderly lady serving swore under her breathe at my order like I was inconvieneince her. Customer service needs to improve so that customers don’t feel like they aren’t able to order what they would like. It wasn’t exactly busy so you would think they would want the business. Disappointing to have experienced! The 2 young girls also serving were great!

The fish & chips were amongst the best we have ever had, but the girl serving had something hanging off the end of her nose which made us feel quite sick and put us off of ever going back again. Appearance is everything as a serving member of the public.

Had I looked at other recent reviews before I went I wouldn’t have gone. Chips and fish swimming in oil not cooked in if, saturated. No child portions of fish. Just half a blinking fish for kids surely. I took it back and was given a partial refund.

Been using this fish and chip shop my whole life, I’ve always enjoyed the food! However, it’s really painful to see the serving system every time I’ve visited recently. I think anyone who’s ever worked in hospitality would think the same. Massive queues and long waits that could all be easily cut down or avoided if they changed their ordering system. I tend to notice all the staff will be doing the one thing rather than having a person dedicated to each job? 2 people servicing customers but nobody dishing out the orders that are actually ready to go? If one person was taking orders, one person was cooking the food and one person is serving the food up/dishing it out, the queues would never get as big as they do. The only people who should ever really be having to wait are those who have ordered something that hasn’t already been cooked like nuggets or pie, or if you’re unlucky enough to order when the chips have ran out etc. Please take this on board and I’m sure you’ll also make your own lives easier in the process too. It can easily be a quick ‘in and out’ process if you do it correctly 😊

Husband got me a piece of fish this evening. I took two mouthfuls and the fish inside was dry and the batter over cooked. We live local so my husband returned with the fish which was now broken because I had checked to see if any fish was edible. The lady at the fish shop said she could not do anything about it because I had eaten too much - I had two bits! We paid £6.90 for a disgusting piece of fish which could not be eaten. Will now never return due to standard and attitude of staff member. How about value for money?

Ordered fish and chips and battered sausage, the fish was about twice the width of the sausage lots of batter but only a narrow piece of fish not good chips were not crispy at all had redo in the air fryer. Really disappointed are you cutting the fish length ways to make two out of one 🤔🤔🤔

This place USED to be great ! Tonight it was awful , dried up fish Rock hard batter which was greasy obviously it had been sitting there a while. Luke warm peas and curry sauce. Everything was very bland. I was asked if I wanted salt and Vinegar and I replied yes but they didn't put any on . They had no Saveloy and no cod Roe. At £36 for 2 adults and a child its no longer a cheap meal which is fine but at least make it edible !!!

Dissatisfied. Years ago the best in plymouth. Won't go back. Black potatoes dry dull fish dried batter. It was 6.0 so a busy time.

After reading the very bad reviews of this fish and chip shop, we decided to judge for ourselves, on arrival the place looked spotless, food looked appetising, ordered 2xfish and portion chips. Well upon eating, the fish was awful, batter like rubber, so dry as if reheated and the chios were no better either!!!!!! Upon arrival I asked if the fish was cooked fresh for the 4pm opening, was told yes , but in my opinion it looks like we had the leftovers from the 2pm close !!!! Very very disappointed as in this current time, a very expensive dinner that went straight in the bin. Did not even want to give 1 star rating , would not use again,and would certainly not recommend.

This is a fish and chips shop in Plymstock. It is always full, so if you are looking to get your fish and chips, you will have to wait. Because service and chips are so good, ppl do not mind waiting. Parking is a bit of an issue, but there is a car park not far from the shop on the same street, only 200 yards away. Highly recommend.

Massive pea fritters freshly cooked to order, we’re absolutely delicious with a portion of well cooked and very tasty chips. Superb in every aspect, lovely friendly staff, will be back soon!

Have been using this chippy for years and years. BUT….what has happened to the chips. Thin scrappy bits is all you get now and portion sizes less in the new boxes. What a shame.

Always busy, always freshly cooked food, reasonable prices.

Good stuff. A little cramped but the two girls serving knew who was in which order. Food was cooked to order and service was given with a smile. It was cold outside and so all customers (and there was a shopful) kept themselves to themselves, although staff happily chatted with those who appeared to be regulars. Food was still hot 25 minutes later. Fish batter crispy and the chips were beautifully salted and vinegared. We had some mushy peas to add as a side and these were soft and nicely prepared. Generous amount of everything. Menu included the usual, burgers, sausages chicken, pies etc with a good selection of cold drinks. Would recommend to others

Awful awful awful, I had fish and chips tonight the chips were greasy with black spots on where the potato must have been bad, the thing that was supposed to be fish was some hard batter with nothing NOTHING inside it was so overcooked. Used to come here a lot over the years but tonight is the last time.

From experience I only bought one portion of fish and chips between two of us to test the water, so glad I did. Worse fish and chips for many years. Fish very dry don't know how long it had been in the heated cabinet. Batter undercooked and greasy. When I picked up my half of the fish, the batter slipped off showing raw batter on the fish and fish was very dry. The chips were even worse. Dry, rubbery tasted awful and we left most of it. They do not deserve customers.

tonight was one of their best fish suppers. super chips (and lots of). Big flakey white tasty fish. crisp golden batter. delicious.

Nice to find a local fish & chip shop open on a Sunday. Prices have obviously increased a lot of late but food was nicely cooked and presented.

Just to warn other unsuspecting customers, all their food is cooked in beef dripping so it's no good for vegans or vegetarians even if you only want chips. Two other customers happened to ask while we were there, otherwise we would have been unaware of this. Maybe this is the norm for fish and chip shops to add the classic flavour, but we were not aware of this! Otherwise the non vegetarians among us enjoyed the chips.

This place always seems busy whenever I'm passing, so I thought I'd give it a go. Saturday lunch time and no other customers to be seen. Perhaps I should have known better. Asked for small fish and chips x2, seems they only do one size...

Not a nice experience. Wait in queue out in the cold, place order and wait back out in the cold. Paid £14.80 for two fish & chips. The batter was very greasy and the chip portion was too small for the price. Been going there for years but that's the last time they get my money.
