Plume of Feathers in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We are visiting the area when friends of ours were performing at this pub on mine and my wife’s 21st wedding anniversary. Mu wife asked what time food and was served till and was told 8pm so at 7pm, my wife ordered 2 steaks and a vegetarian pizza for our son with autism. At 7.30pm 2 young waitresses came to our table and said they had sold the last steak and if we would choose something else, so I ordered steak pie and the wife fish and chips. The pie tasted as if it had cooked earlier then microwaved, the fish slimy and my sons pizza was very spicy he couldn’t eat it. At 3am i had sickness and diahetroia, the wife also didn’t feel well. It then dawned on me that the wife had paid up front via card and the 2 other meals were cheaper than the 2 steak meals we had ordered. When the yiung waitress came round to ask if everything was ok, my wife told her no and she smiled and walked off then the other waitress cleared our table. It was a shame as not only a special night but we had come to see our friends cover up duo who were super. Sadly next year we will see them at another venue

Absolutely shocking. Spent way over £150 tonight. They called last orders before 10. Then was rude as , saying they wanted to go to bed before 10:30. The pool table was completely taken over with no questions asked. So very disappointed with the service of the premises, and how rude we were treated. . such a shame as it's so local , but will not be going there again under their ownership. It's a pub , not a kids youth club . Disgusted on the money spent .

Happened upon this pub. Lovely atmosphere and the food was really good too.

Great local pub, we were served by George, who was very attentive and helpful! Even brought out dog fresh water to the table! Food was of good quality and reasonable price.

I came in with a large group of friends and we had the joy of being served by George the waiter. George couldn’t have been a more welcoming, polite, well mannered young man and nothing was ever too much for ask for. George is a credit to this pub- 10/10 for him.

Great evening with a live music entertainer.

Friendly fast service, had Sunday lunch roast dinner today. The food was excellent would definitely recommend the food and service here.

Great atmosphere beer and food.

I was part of a stag party of 10 here who went for a meal. We were the only people in the restaurant the whole time. Most of us ordered mixed grills or steak (7 mixed grills, 1 steak, 2 burgers to be exact). Every single steak came out well done, despite the fact that only 2 were ordered well done . One was sent back and we received another one done exactly the same as it was the first time, half an hour later. The waitress miscounted the number of mixed grills despite having come back to check, and the stag ended up having his meal half an hour later than the rest of us as a result. One person who had the burger ended up ill after eating it (he had not consumed anywhere near enough alcohol for this to be the cause). The plus side was the bar area was nice and the staff were friendly, but I would definitely avoid the place for food.

Met up with a couple of friends for lunch today at the Plume of Feathers in Pool, Cornwall. The restaurant has just been fitted out with a brand new kitchen and the restaurant had been fitted out in a new contemporary style, and yet it felt as if I was coming into my own home. A great place to walk into with two very special friends. There was a warm inviting greeting as we came in and we were given enough time to settle down and order drinks. The server was happy to discuss the menu with us and there was a very good selection of food on the lunchtime menu, all very reasonably priced. I ordered a Sirloin Steak with all the trimmings, my friends ordered home made burgers, chips and salad. The steak just melted in my mouth. Not only was the food very fresh and tasty, the presentation also could not be faulted. We took our time with our meals - we could do this because, thankfully, our plates came out piping hot - nice touch. Thanks for that. During the meal the server, unobtrusively, came over to make sure all was well and that we didn't need anything. Towards the end of the meal the chef also came out to make sure all was well with the food, which it was. What a wonderful surprise all this was. A great meal and a delightful afternoon. Sadly though, the only thing missing was Lou Reed singing 'Perfect Day' quietly in the background. Thanks so much to John, his wife and the staff for such a special afternoon.

Food was uneatable 2 days after we had food there adverting for a chief that says it all McDonald's do not have proper chefs also

As a father with a baby and two children, 3 and 7, I think this pub is fantastic, excellent facilities and a lovely garden area with a swing, slide and climbing set-up. They cater for babys with all you need for changing and entertainment for older ones. All pubs can learn from this one.

Live going here and meeting up with old and new friends

A friendly pub to have a drink and relax. Friendly staff and have different artist to entertain. Tonight was Elvis Presley tribute act pure classic. Didn't have food a great place to drink and have a good night out a live band tonight call two for the road they were brilliant.

Popped in as there was music on. I was informed it was a locals pub. I took that as a compliment to the Pubs owners. If locals choose this over other pubs. Immediately greeted by a warm welcome from the staff and even got chatting to a friendly gentleman. Ales on were Ghostship, Sharps Atlantic Pale & their Solar Wave. Had to try all 3 obviously 😎. All were well kept, tasted lovely. The solar wave was very fruity. Music sung by a talented lady providing a good mix of genres. Shame not more people turned out. But I still enjoyed the evening. Staying longer than I planned to. It's a huge pub with ample seating and bar space, pool table. Gents toilets were clean, but could do with another cubicle (a niceaty and not to be considered a negative). I would come back, especially on a music night.

Great atmosphere 10/10 Great Staff 10/10 Food Questionable 3/10 Two of us had fish and chips, that went down well. Another of us had the vege bean burger which also went down well. I had the "Chicken Tika Masala" which did not taste like any Chicken Tika Masala I have ever had. It tasted more like a tomato and basil sauce with chutney and turmeric added to it. Not nice at all.

Dreary and disinterested barman, poor overpriced beer…

Really good experience. We had a mixed grill consisting of steak, lamb chop, pork chop, sausage, egg, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and chips. All for under £20. Excellent. Will be back.

Visited twice for food , first time no chef .second time told they stopped serving . Wont make it a third time .

Don't let your eyes deceive you, you pub is open, very welcoming to outsiders and the staff are a credit.

I have been here twice now as my dog is at lews Groomers. I don't live here, so it's great to have a friendly atmosphere. Last time I arrived soaking wet. Nice pub, good menu good food

Went for Sunday carvery, was delicious, I filled my plate with a little of nearly everything and all of it was lush, I even got a little tub to put my leftovers in and have it the next day. The staff were friendly and helpful as well as attentive, but not overly so. The drinks were fab and the price is good, very competitive, affordable.

Great pub great selection of well kept beers, ciders,lagers,Guinness and more good atmosphere friendly and welcoming to non locals the Timothy Taylor Landlord beer is particularly good in my opinion highly recommended

Went during the week, was empty - which was nice as you could use the darts board and talk with friends. Never had to wait long to get a drink & lovely, talkative bar staff.

Great to see the place back open, decent meal for lunch at a decent price Service could've been a little warmer but overall good lunch Will go back

New owners so not too sure how things will go but looks nice and tidy with decent beer plus there will be food available, cool!

Wow, popped in here for some food and wasn’t disappointed! The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing!! They’ve already adapted their menu to bring in the custom, prices are very good and the food punches well above the cost. I’ll certainly be back and I’ll spread the word, whoever comes will not be disappointed. Empty plates all round!

Menu not up too much at all. Have too be honest I guess it was a simplified menu from the looks of it. Something that would have appealed to my children is what was needed . The main reason we only stayed for a quick drink and didnt eat was because the kids couldt find anything they wanted to eat .

Rather dated decor although newly painted outside. A standard pub with the usual pub grub. Playground for children to the rear. Live music once a week.

The best burger I've had in my whole life. All for a fiver. It is genuinely too good to be true!! I know a lot of burgers and man this was honestly the juiciest and most sumptuous steak burger 🍔 in the entirety of Cornwall. Still can't get my head around the fact that it was all for a fiver! The spread of ales and lagers is only a bloomin bonus ☺

The new management are doing a great job and i had the cheeseburger and it was excellent at a very good price add well. Give this place a visit and you won't be disappointed

A small gathering of friends, who all had different dishes... not one complaint and all enjoyed... There is a large pizza menu, but none of us are into pizza's ... Would of been nice to see a fish dish on the menu. Fast service and an enjoyable experience.

I dont think I will go back .. It has such potential. But sadly missed. Mmm. Food ??? There was am A-board advertising food served day & evening. No signs inside the pub to say that food wasn't available because of works on the kitchen.

Very nice food! I had burger with stilton cheese onion rings and chips. The staff was friendly too. I definitely recommend it.

We stopped here in July and really enjoyed our visit. Lovely place, very friendly and welcoming...even offered for us to park our van in carpark to sleep for the night as we had purchased food. Large carpark, play area, seating and a grassed garden area outside. Not far from several stunning beaches, Adam's pizzas are amazing

What a great pub. Great atmosphere, great beer. Having read Danny Phelans post, I'm a bit confused by what he said as the most expensive pint they have is £4.30 for Sharps Offshore which is a good price compared to other pubs that charge over £4.60.

Far too expensive. It cost me £4.70 for a decent lager! This place will close sooner than later, because they have a university right next to them and the students can't afford those prices! Never again.

The best! I have to say that because I work there 😂 But honestly there's good beer, good company and very soon there will be good food.
