A beautiful pub for lunch in a lovely quiet location. We enjoyed a Sunday roast and desserts with friends. The food was generous, tasty and great quality. It is a lovely cosy atmosphere and beautifully decorated country pub. Some good local walks help to burn off the calories and we enjoyed seeing the alpacas on the nearby farm. Will definitely return.

Sunday lunch. When ordering roast beef - I asked for it medium. The waiter replied- it's medium to well done. When I said I'd prefer medium he said it's all cooked the same. When it arrived it was well done. The roast potatoes were bland and not crispy at all.

Been a few times for Sunday lunch and the roast never disappoints. I’m vegan and always get the nut roast or wellington and every time I enjoy it. We come with a couple of meat eaters and they enjoy theirs too. For desert, the (vegan) sticky toffee pudding is good but is really missing the toffee sauce and the ice cream is more of a sorbet, not really what you want. Would love to see more adventurous options for vegan deserts. And vegan Yorkshire puddings would be the cherry on top!

Just back from a wonderful meal. 2 of us had the trio of meats roast dinner sharing platter, husband had the salmon, I had cheese & onion pie and my son had steak pie. Everything was excellent, as were the padron peppers starters. We qualified for free desserts (nice surprise!) and enjoyed raspberry ripple artic roll, baked cheesecake with mulled berries and lemon tart. The staff were really friendly and efficient and there was a lovely ambience. We all really enjoyed it and will be back.

Old haunt, tucked away lovely local pub in Mobberley near home town of Wilmslow, Cheshire. Staff very warm & attentive, had drinks, hubby loves their Guinness! Daughter had braised beef & potato hash cake topped with an egg, heaven, plus she & hubby had the Horseshoe Gammon meal which they loved, Daughter-in Law & I had the Ribeye Steak which was cooked to perfection with whole field mushroom plus an extra one as the waitress heard me remark that I loved them, garlic infused plum tomato & fries, no room for dessert though sorely tempted, here's to the next visit!

Called in again... twice!!! 🤣 We’ve got the Decorator all over the kitchen and the house is upside down (any excuse, really!!) So we had the fish pie one night with 'mopping up bread' which was a genius idea! Then I had the fish pie the other night and my husband had the soup (bit too salty, but we gave feedback so any subsequent batches wouldn't be the same), followed by gammon. Both meals were utterly delicious and the hosts were their usual charming selves. The waitress made a big fuss of my pooch and I think she would've stayed at the pub quite happily 🦴🐶 It's such a dog-friendly place so obviously the customers are really friendly too☺️🐾 Thank you once again for making our evening meals so enjoyable and extra special. We'll find a reason to be back next year when we have the outside of the house painted 😄

The Plough and Flail was a very lucky last minute find on a rainy Sunday. The pub is elegantly rustic with a roaring fire. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We brought our husky and were amazed at how dog friendly they are. You can help yourself to a water bowl and treats at the entrance to take to your table. There was a great choice of items on the menu; I went for the steak and ale pie which was the best pie I'd had in a long time. My husband had the burger which was large and he really enjoyed. Our partner had the cheese and onion pie which she loved. We shared a cauliflower cheese which was delicious and very well done. The only fault my husband had was the garlic bread tasted like flora so tasted a bit too much of margarine but other than that we genuinely couldn't fault a single thing about the experience. We will definitely be coming back and have already spread the word about the place. We visit Quarry Bank frequently and it was only 15 minutes away. Looking forward to next time.

This place scores high on so many factors. Great kids area outside. Dog friendly. Helpful welcoming staff behind the bar even when they’re rushed off their feet on Sundays which is when we go. Lovely location to walk to. However, many local pubs have these benefits. Where this pub has a USP for me is they sell alcohol free sparkling wine. As a non drinker, I often don’t fancy an AF beer but I also don’t want a normal soft drink. This place has actually gone the extra mile to cater for people choosing an AF lifestyle which is refreshing. My only criticism would be that they should publicize this more as more people might opt for it if they knew it was available. Well done Plough for giving people AF options.

We had a family table for eight to celebrate an 80th Birthday. The food was superb, we had quite a range of choices between us and it was all well prepared and extremely tasty, and the staff were lovely. Even though it was very busy (Sunday afternoon) we didn't have to wait any inordinate length of time for service. There was no service charge on the bill, which was much appreciated, but we left a good tip because they had earned it.

Wonderful escape from trick or treaters 🎃 Always such a friendly welcome and prompt service however busy or quiet. The staff always make you feel at home straight away. 🥰 Husband ordered soup and chicke from the set menu and I had the same chicken and apple crumble. All delicious and beautifully cooked and prepared. My only advice is leave the little apple crumble pot to cool down for a while before you even attempt to turn if our as it was molton hot!!! Gorgeous chicken with a Stilton sauce (bit more sauce would've been perfect but I guess I should've just asked for more, in hindsight). Great night and we parked ourselves right next to the open 🔥 fire so it couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We hadn't been to the Plough & Flail for some years, following a really awful dining experience. But, based on a friend's recommendation, we visited last night (Saturday) with another couple, to give it a try - and were so glad we did! We received a really warm welcome and were seated near a lovely log fire. The service throughout was professional and friendly. We chose a variety of dishes. My wife and I started with the Creamy Stilton Mushrooms, which were amazing. I then had a perfectly cooked Ribeye Steak and my wife had the Honey Roast Duck Breast. All of us found our meals generous, nicely presented and really tasty. Only one of us had room for a sweet - Baked Banana Bread - which looked so good and soon disappeared! Having then had coffee, we left feeling very satisfied, and so pleased we could now add the Plough and Flail to our 'go to' list again. And for us, we will have the bonus that next time we can take our dog too!
