Plough and Horses in Rushmoor

Went with my daughter and grandchildren for lunch. First thing we was told was there’s no curry, no fish, 1 baguette, no Fanta, no small vegetarian pizza, only large! We ordered at 12.30 and after asking twice where our food was, we got our food 1 hour later at 1.30. It was just pizzas, nothing that took a long time to cook. Ordered fish fingers for 18 month old baby, they looked like they’d been cooking for 1 hour, they were so brown, hard and dry, AND served on a red hot plate. The lunches came out one at a time and the last pizza came to me at 1.40pm. It wasn’t that busy, there was a table of two, a table of four and a table of 8. Only the table of 2 was there before us and the rest came in after us yet they ordered and had eaten their food and left before we even got our food. As it’s half term, we had arranged to go out at 2pm but couldn’t because of the food being late made us late for what we planned. We were offered free drinks, after the food eventually came but we didn’t want drinks. We just wanted to go. I wanted to pay the bill and leave after 40 minutes but the waitress said they were plating up, which obviously they weren’t because it was about her 20 minutes before it came out. Honestly will never go there again and would not recommend it. If they haven’t got the food or the staff they shouldn’t be serving food, or at least say they’ll be a delay. An hour and a half in total for a pizza that takes 12 minutes to cook, one of which wasn’t even cooked properly because the cheese wasn’t even melted!

Sadly couldn't give a higher rating as they didn't have any beer and also got my son's order wrong hopefully will be able to change this rating if I go back

There's more atmosphere in the antartic especially as the food was stone cold as well.

Only there for some beers, didn't have any food. My first time there it was good , not too busy or packed, good atmosphere, clean and tidy. Good condition beers with good price of ales. Will return again.

Turned up to have a bite of luck with a few friends. The last of our small group arrive about 1:15. We were told that due to a large party booking food wouldn’t be available until 2pm. We decided to stay. A few minutes past 2 one of group went to get menus to be told that they weren’t doing food. As you can imagine we were very peeved. Given we eat out a lot and often with our families (although not on this occasion) we’re voting with our wallets and going elsewhere. If we’d been told when we arrived there was no food we would have finished our drinks and gone elsewhere but would have happily tried again; but to mislead us and not apologise or offer anything just shows a lack of respect for customers.

Had a belated Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Very generous portions and all cooked perfectly. Great service as well. Thank you to all the staff. As friendly and professional as ever

Never eaten but it’s not appetising to look at. The land person has an inferiority complex and try’s to through her obesity about. It’s a matter of time until she gets the colour slapped from her face. The click is horrendous. Stay clear.

Just had my work Christmas do here and omg if i could give a 100 star review i would. The food was outstanding, the staff were amazing very lovely and helpful the atmosphere was perfect...best Christmas do i have had. The manager is absolutely amazing couldnt do enough for you. I will not one be booking for next year but will be visiting the venue more often. Thank you to Mo and her team

Went for lunch on Sunday and only the roast was on offer apart from small bar snacks. Food and gravy was just luke warm and cauliflower cheese was tasteless and cold. I didn't make a fuss as we were being treated but certainly would have done if we were eating alone. Will not be returning and I don't recommend Sunday lunch, very disappointing.

Just had a nice Sunday roast at the Plough & Horses, really good value for money. Appreciated when the cost of living is so high and everywhere else is over priced. Service was excellent too. Will definitely recommend it👌

Very big portion of food but the quality was sadly lacking. Roast potatoes were lovely and crisp. Vegetables were criminally overdone. The chicken breast was pre cooked. The cauliflower cheese was a bit lukewarm,bland and anaemic. Warm, friendly service , shame about the food.

My friend and I visited for the Sunday Roast. Service was good. Did not have to wait long for food and drinks. Pleasant young staff. Was so looking forward to a proper Sunday roast. However, the roast potato's were horrid. When the young waitress cleared the plates from the table she asked how the food was. I pointed to the potatoes which remained on my plate. I told her they were horrible, hard, overcooked and tasted like pre-cooked frozen potatoes. Reply was very sweet, apologised and said that she would tell the chef. Would have been nice for someone ie manager to have come over and talk to us but did not see any one in authority for the duration of our stay. Sorry to say that I cannot recommend.

Popped in for lunch, great service lovely staff

I had hoped that the change of ownership might have heralded an improvement to the food offerings. Unfortunately the food is still verging on inedible. The place was almost empty at lunch time - which should have given me a clue - and the staff looked as though they would have rather been anywhere else. There are some really good pub/restaurants in the area. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

Unfortunately when we went we were shown into the restaurant to then be told they were only doing pizza and jacket potatoes. It would have been nice to have been told when we bought our drinks.

Called with family group of 9 on a Saturday lunchtime. Pretty empty, but very friendly and efficient staff. Limited menu of pretty standard bar food, took forever for food to arrive though. We weren’t in a rush, but took two and a half hours for only two courses. Clean toilets, ample parking.

Everything was great (atmosphere, service, food) right until I was on my way out, when one of the girls (which didn't even serve me) stopped me and asked me if I'd paid my bill. This annoyed me quite a bit and ruined a good impression I had.

Lovely pub. Plenty of choice on the menu. The young staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good - and hot also at reasonable prices.

We have visited a couple of times since the reopening. The younger members of staff are pretty poor. Everything seems a bit too much trouble. Such a shame as it really puts us off going.

Such a lovely and welcoming place. I had an awesome lunch with my husband, the steak was cooked exactly how I like it. My husband asked blue steak and it came out perfect. We will definitely be coming back again with friends and family.

On arrival there was no fish and chips, nothing with chicken breast and only seeded baguettes. I ended up with a chicken goujon sandwich which came with a small side of chips. Disappointingly no salad garnish at all which made the lunch very dry and bland. Disappointing.

I went to this pub on a Friday afternoon with friends. I was initially saddened at the lack of gin and lack of fruit to go into the gin. The bar girl with the long pony tail, quite young was so rude and got me my drink but started pouring in lemonade, of which I would never have my gin with. I said straight away sorry its with tonic, she proceeded to say I definitely said it was with lemonade which I stated I would never do. Her whole attitude and demeanour was disgusting. I won’t go here again simply for this reason. She needs sacking.

Having recently reopened (Apr 23), this place now seems more of an evening football pub... with more noise... and less focus on enjoyable midweek suppers in the restaurant. Used to have a good, freshly prepared menu, but our food seemed a bit "from frozen." Probably won't hurry back for dinner.

My husband and I visited the plough and horses at the weekend and found the manager and all the staff lovely and very helpful about local amenities. Lovely clean pub spacious and dog friendly will be visiting again when we move into the area

Was waiting for the kitchen top open since they reopened their doors. Was worth the wait, Three Pizzas, two burgers, Wings and a pie and mash arrived hot, fresh and blooming delicious. Not a scrap of food left!! Well done to the new Manager and her team. See you again soon!!!

Lovely to have our local the Plough and Horses back open. Under new management and just starting to serve food again. We had a Plough & Horses Burger. Cooked to perfection and delicious 😋 Can thoroughly recommend. Their website says the kitchen is closed, but it is not, and they are serving great food. The menu will be growing over the next few days and a promise of some great sunday roasts, all freshly cooked and local quality produce. Thank you Mo and the team we will see you again soon.

Our 1st time eating here since the pub reopened under new management. We were warmly greeted and were pleasantly suprised with the selection of largers on tap. We then had a Plough & Horses Burger ( 2 burgers slathered in cheese fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, optional extras: pepperoni, mushrooms) and sauce on the side ( which i really liked) Cooked to perfection and delicious 😋 amazing chips too. Can thoroughly recommend. We somehow found room for desert too and the lemon cheesecake was light and refreshing. The new manager has such a passion for food and proud to promote their freshly cooked menu from local quality produce. Thank you Mo and the team! We will see you again soon to try what sound like it will be a stunning sunday roast 😀

No food is available at the moment

This pub is closed permanently l believe from news in the local paper. It has in the past had a reputation for good food and local pub ambiance. I never found the staff particularly over enthusiastic on one’s arrival. Pity.

We found the Plough & Horses via the Dine app, a pub we'd not been to before. We enjoyed a birthday meal with my daughter and although the lunchtime menu was cut down from the full menu, the food was really good. Service was prompt and attentive too. We each had a different dish, fish & chips, chicken burger and scampi, each beautifully cooked, the chips crisp and fluffy and beautifully dry. Puds enjoyed too, lovely vanilla cheesecake and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the brownie. Overall, an unexpected little gem of a place.

We held my sisters baby shower here today and it was excellent. Lovely food, lovely venue and excellent service! I would definitely recommend! Thank you!

Really nice clean pub. Really friendly nice staff. Had a 2 course Sunday lunch with the Mrs. Had to take her out and keep her from moaning. Starter was tempura prawns, and they were bangung. Mrs had battered slugs er I mean mushrooms. She loved them. Main course was a bit hit and miss on the elements. Turkey was really moist and yum. However, I had to spit the gammon out. Burnt on the outside and not cooked properly on the inside. Probably cooked on to high a temperature for not long enough. They forgot the roast potatoes, but they soon sorted them for us. Wish they were in longer to get the really crispy but they were extremely busy. Gravy was bistro and really lumpy. Nice place though if they got a few things sorted, it would be an amazing experience.

Great for a beer! The staff is so friendly and just so accommodating to children. Children’s menu is great value for the price. Paninis are the way to go - each one we tried was great.

We had our annual basketball team Christmas do last night it was delicious the festive menu was lovely. Some of us were running a bit late but that was no bother for them. The food was lovely and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Will be back soon thanks to the team at the plough and horses

My sister and I visited for lunch last week - she loves their paninis! We each had a panini, which comes with fries and salad. The food was delicious- as well as very reasonably priced, and the service very good - as well as friendly 🙂 We will be back 😊

I thought I’d write this review to give the venue the five stars they deserve. Our family party of 5 adults, 2 children and our dog reserved a table for 4.00 p.m. on a Sunday. We were met by the boss, shown to our table, and advised that because they had been extremely busy there were only 8 roast dinners...

I visited on a Thursday Afternoon/Evening and was very impressed. A decent menu with a variety of options and quite reasonable too especially if using their weekday main meals deal (can be found on their Facebook page). My meal was a decent portion size and very tasty. The Pub has had an extensive makeover recently and looks very attractive. There is not a huge amount of tables so I recommend booking ahead for more busier times (7pm onwards and weekends). Overall a very pleasant and friendly local Pub and highly recommend.

I have been working as General Manager at this gem of a pub for the last 5 months. Under new management this pub is thriving and constantly making improvements through learning and tweaking its set up and offerings. A real proper family pub.
