Best place to eat in Plockton. The food is OK and staff nice However ithe menu has become more limited and prices are very high. £12 + obligatory service charge for a medium glass of wine! It feels very corporate, won't accept bookings in person - you have to book online

We had a lovely evening meal in very pleasant surroundings. The mussels and scallops were amazing and the fish and chips excellent, staff are friendly and made sure my partner enjoyed his birthday by putting a candle in the cake and singing happy birthday! It was really special,

We booked at the last minute and were fortunate to get in. Plockton is busy due to the NC500. I had an amazing smoked haddock dish with dauphinois potatoes and seasonal veg that was utterly delicious. My wife had mussels with some gluten free bread. The sauce was fantastic Great service from the staff who were knowledgeable about food allergies ( one coeliac) and nothing was too much trouble.

The food was tasty but so over priced with average size portions. Tourist prices on steroids. The fish was fresh. Staff were courteous.

Accueil chaleureux et tout est bon et frais et de qualité. Langoustines, fish and chips, poissons extras frais. Le cheese cake est excellent.

Starting with the positive, The Shores sells tasty, locally sourced and well cooked food, complemented by a wide selection of excellent local craft beers as well as wines from further afield. The staff are also friendly - when they have time to come to you. But it’s not fine dining and we couldn’t see any justification for the minuscule portions. I ordered the scallops as a main course (£28 plus & £6 each for potatoes and veg - £40 in total). It looked like I was getting 5 small scallops for this until I noticed that they had been sliced into thin discs, so I think I got 2.5 scallops maximum. The veg portions were similarly meagre. The menu said the bread was sourdough but it was very light and bland tasting and I question whether the description is fully accurate. Whilst the staff were lovely, there were far too few to attend adequately to the number of bookings they had taken; it took almost 30 minutes from us asking for the bill to us being able to pay. I question whether it is fair to automatically add service charge of 10% when staff are too busy to offer efficient service. In summary, having spent £120 on a 2 course meal with a beer each, disappointing that we needed to eat some peanuts when we eventually got home.

Was very disappointed. We arrived promptly and they did have a wee chalk board wishing my husband a happy birthday which was nice but downhill after that! Wine order wrong but girl was new and she was very nice about it. That part was ok. Lady came to take our order and still ok. Food came. Heavily salted which was hard to eat. Looking at salt and pepper mills on the table I wondered why my food was visibly heavily salted including the peas which was bizarre. As I have high blood pressure I ate all of 3 chips and left the peas. Ate half the fish (which was lovely) and husband ate the rest. We were also ignored as the server's family were in so they got most of the attention. Mother, husband and 2 kids. Noone came over to check in or I would have given feedback about the over salting of my food. Wouldnt recommend. Paid the 10% surcharge which is for the staff but they did nothing for it. They did their job barely. So disappointed to be leaving such a negative review but we did have better food elsewhere. It isnt all its cracked up to be.

Excellent food in a very pleasant restaurant with superb, friendly, welcoming service. The best food we have had in Plockton. This was our third visit. We will be back!

Top quality restaurant, with a very agreeable atmosphere. Cannot recommend the seafood too highly, but non- seafood dishes equally as good. Focused, sensibly-priced wine-list. Engaging and efficient staff.

Sadly due to weather issues the langoustine were not available. However, we still had a very nice meal. Service was warm and friendly. The food was very good with my scallops being nice and sweet. I had sea bass and liked the strawberry sauce that went with it. The veggies were also cooked nicely. We had no room for dessert but options looked good.

Excellent combination of great food, service and ambience. There is the right amount of choice with lots of lovely seafood but something for the meat lovers too. Everything we had was delicious, seafood chowder, steak pie, smoked haddock and very good dauphinois. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

Luckily we had a table with my husband, he had the smoked haddock and I had the mussels, scallops and smoked mussels. It was fine and delicious. Best restaurant we've been to in 3 days in Scotland. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful. We had a great time in this cosy, quiet and tastefully decorated place.

We have eaten here 3 times in one week, which is really excessive..but we couldn't help ourselves. Each time I suggested another place, but… Food is excellent and to a sensible menu. But its the staff that makes the difference….cheerful, friendly and low key. Plenty of fish and shellfish alternatives, plus for non-fish eaters. Well done gang!

Booked restaurant two weeks previous to our date of 7 th September for dinner my niece who lives in Plockton confirmed date and time o the evening of the 6th . We arrived at the restaurant on 7th to find it closed . No explanation given including no phone calls . Kwashiorkor told that this has happened before . Extremely disappointed. Thankfully we were accommodated at the Plockton Hotel which was extremely good and welcoming

Excellent seafood restaurant for relaxed dining. Recommend the smoked haddock and combo main dishes, the langoustines in the combo dish were excellent.

My 93 year old friend Patricia and I (84) visited and had coffee and a cake, Good coffee, nice service. We booked dinner at 18,00 on our last evening in Loch Carron, but on the day, one of us fell ill. We therefore cancelled as soon as we could. Imagine my horror finding an £80 non attendance charge on my Visa. Extortion, a racket a money grabbing disgrace. Did they really believe they would have made £80 profit out of our attendance? A disgrace, extortionate, assisted by Visa.

Lovely fresh seafood restaurant and also brilliant local shop. Special thank you to the super friendly ladies at the shop for going the extra mile to help us with groceries when BA cancelled our flight. Lovely cakes and coffee too. If you’re self catering in Plockton this is the place to buy essentials and top ups around a full Kyle shop.
