We visited Winchcombe for a few days with our dog Bruno. We popped into Plaisterers on our first night for a drink and ended up going every night of our stay. The pub is lovely and the land lady really makes the place - charismatic with a great sense of humour. Can’t wait to visit again

Perfect location in the centre of the market town of Winchcombe, this historic pub is full of character and charm. Character defines the owner,Liz, too. She single- handedly runs the place and is fantastic. The rooms are quirky, quiet, comfortable and clean. Great full English breakfast. Ideal overnight stay for my brother and I.

Amazed to still see this place going by the same owner after so many years. By far the best pub in the village with the best ales all kept perfectly by (Liz) managed to catch up with some old faces too which was really nice and pleasant after so many years of not seeing them. Was saddened to hear of some old characters who had passed on that I used to drink with in there. Roll on the hot weather when we can sit in the beautiful garden.

This Establishment occupies a prominent position in the small Cotswold town of Winchcombe. On entering the premises the first thing that struck us was how dark it was inside, with very low lighting. The Bar has two sides to it and there was a bit of a wait for the Bartender to come around to our side and serve us. Having ordered drinks we found a place to sit, down a short flight of quite steep steps onto a lower level of the building, which was also dark and, dare I say it, dingy. We had to take care negotiating the steps due to the lack of lighting. What we had to refresh ourselves was acceptable both in quality and price. This is probably a pleasant enough place to pass the time and imbibe, if you don't mind being kept in the dark. There is public car parking available close by and major Credit Cards are accepted.

Visited the Plaisterers Arms for a birthday dinner as we had heard the new chef was great and WOW! The food was absolutely fantastic. The menu is really inventive with so many great things to choose from and the quality of the food is exceptional. I can't recommend it highly enough - its a real gem in a beautiful village. The general ambiance is cosy and the landlady is great. We will definitely be visiting many more times in the future!

We called in by chance as we did not know Winchcombe at all and were so pleased we did. The interesting menu lured us in and between us we had a really lovely moussaka, steak with garlic mushrooms , homemade tomato relish etc.Fortunately that left us both room for an irresistible dessert: apple and pear crumble with cinnamon custard.. The quality of the meat, cooking, service and atmosphere were all excellent. The landlady is particularly friendly and personable too

We decided to visit friends in our favourite town of winchcombe, and after hearing the pub had a new chef we decided to book. Once again we had the frosty reception of arrival from the landlady, but we expected that from our previous experience. Once again the beer was excellently kept and, the food was beautifully cooked and the flavours were out of this world. Had a lovely chat with some of the locals after dining, Jan was certainly entertaining, thank you

Absolutely delightful Sunday Lunch, we moved to Winchcombe in October 2021 and have ate out nearly every Sunday ever since. The village has several restaurants/pubs offering fabulous food. After todays visit we have definitely found our favourite. Service was excellent as it always has been at The Plaisterers, things have now massively changed. The food we had here was by far the best that we have experienced in Winchcombe. The Game terrine was simply outstanding, served with sourdough and melted butter, I opted for the Chicken and Ham suet pudding, creamed potato, greens and chicken gravy. Simply delicious! Followed by Chocolate and Hazelnut cheesecake. (So good I forgot to take a photo). Rebooked for two weeks time and can not wait. Try it out, it’s a must.

I have rated this restaurant "terrible" because this was an experience that I never wish to repeat and I would certainly not recommend this pub to anyone. The paper menu was badly printed with no additional helpful information. There were only very few options for vegetarians and vegans. It was not clear whether the white onion and cider soup of the day was vegetarian. When the chef was asked about this, the reply was that it contains alcohol. When served, the soup was tepid and the accompanying bread roll was not freshly baked. The margherita pizza was a solid disk of cheese with very little tomato sauce and no basil or anything else. It was tough and very bland. The extra side salad had an acceptable vinaigrette dressing but included an excessive amount of onion and it was very wet. To be fair to the place, the meat eaters report that the brisket served in a bap with chips was quite good. I should add that it was upsetting and unnecessary to overhear the owner remonstrating with a member of staff who was extremely professional and pleasant to us throughout our visit. If the food was excellent, the prices would be reasonable but, as we left, we all agreed that the pub needed a makeover and a new owner.

We are from Australia visiting for a week. We wanted to go for a family meal. There are 31 of us including 6 little people. We rang weeks ago and requested 2 sittings, to make it easier on the kitchen. We prebooked our meals, roast lamb or roast pork. The first group got in. The second group wanted to have a drink at the bar. The owner or manager Di, sent us away till 7.30. This woman was so rude, I can’t believe they are still in business. So we had drinks at another pub. So our meals came out. Potatoes were so hard I think they might have been in the oven a few hours too many. The meals had obviously been pre plated which was fine, but the gravy was straight out of a tin. For this disgusting feast we paid £15 or $30 in Australian dollars. Do not waste your money on this place. Many beautiful other places to eat. When I mentioned this episode to a local, he knew just who we were speaking of. I can't really comment on the landlady other than that we found her friendly, funny and when there was a delay in service because we hadn't booked she came to explain why. I'd definitely recommend this pub based on quality of food alone.

Called in for a pre-dinner pint, not busy however landlady (I assume) was engaging with those already in, totally ignored us, then fussed about serving regulars, then dashed off to fuss over someone dining downstairs, had a chat with them, came back to bar and ignored us even though we were hinting loudly we were ready to order pints,

Clearly popular with a unique layout. We stayed for a meal. A bit better than normal pub grub but a bit overboard with some of the ingredients

First visit to Winchcombe and so lucky to find this lovely restaurant. The food was excellent. I had the venison haunch and cooked to perfection and my wife had cashew nut curry which was again excellent. Liz was the perfect hostess and was very helpful in her suggestions of dishes which would suit my wife's low cholesterol diet. The young male waiter also gave great service for somebody who had only worked in the trade for four weeks.

We really enjoyed this pub during our visit this week. We enjoyed sitting at the bar, chatting and trying the local ales. We also loved the Sri Lankan specials on the menu cooked by their Sri Lankan chef- authentic and delicious! Very friendly locals and staff too!

Very glad to have found this place. Had two meals now and both delicious. The chef is clearly very talented and cares a lot. His take on traditional pub food is refreshing. Can’t wait to go back again. Staff are lovely and service very friendly.

Well if anyone wants traditional accommodation with a wonderful welcome from Liz the land lady, awesome home cooking served by the open fire...look no further than The Plaisterers Arms. Had a great time meeting old friends. Thanks Liz and we will be back perhaps for one of your unplugged evenings. Louise and Jess South East Wales

My partner and I and my parents visited this pub whilst staying in Winchcombe. The atmosphere is really nice and cosy with little alcoves to sit in. We only had a main each but the food was top notch. I had the venison and it was cooked perfectly. The menu itself is very varied and something a little bit extra. Friendly waiter who was very welcoming and chatty. Sorry I didn't catch his name, but he was a young lad who was back from uni. Definitely recommend for a tasty meal. My only one gripe was that they had no prosecco, so I had to have white wine.

We are staying locally and just randomly chose this pub. The lovely landlady was super welcoming and the pub decor was amazing, 500 years old we were told. All dressed up for xmas. We have been travelling UK for 2 weeks and this was best food we have had so far!!! Amazing lemon sole and the venison was so tender. We will definitely try to go back

We booked with two children and a toddler. We asked for a child’s menu but none was available. We asked for a bread roll for a 2 year old and this was finally supplied after repeated asking, 40 mins after adults served. Zero welcome. Zero flexibility. No Christmas spirit.

The chef at this restaurant has real talent. The food is exceptional and reasonably priced. Although this is a local pub, the food served is outstand8ng, Liz the landlady is friendly and all the staff too. We would highly recommend this pub, both for drink and foid.

The place is lovely and very cosy. The staff were very good, maybe not as welcoming as they could be, looked busy but we were the only ones there. We joined them for Breakfast, coffee was luke warm and the tap water smelt and tasted weird. We had two lots of poached eggs which were priced at £6.50 each. We had one piece of sourdough toast and two poached eggs. The toast was not buttered! That's a hell of a price for that. We had to ask for butter which was provided, but surely should be necessary. We also had a lady with mobility issues with us. She had called ahead and was told that there was a ramp, which was great. Until she got there and parked and the ramp was on the front of the property, quite a distance from the car park. She had a real struggle to get in on her own as she could not make it around the front, so she had to make it up the precarious steps with her wheeled trolley. I think this should be looked at and improved so the property is easily accessible from the car park. Overall, would not recommend which is a shame as I have been before and it was nice, but this time, the food and drink was poor.

Very disappointed, walked into the counter. I asked for a sausage bap. Was sent back to find it in the fridge. Staff didn't help just served the people that had later arrived. Putting me at the back of the queue.. RUDE.
