Complete turnabout in these premises. Lot of surprise that it is now opening as Dino Barbers. Looks quite flamboyant but there are already a dozen similar barbershops along Mutley Plain.

Came down today looking for a hot lunch and refreshment. The place was all lit up but the signage and kit of Plain Tasty was no longer to be seen and there were fitters/decorators working earnestly in and around the building. Tried to coax them into a description of what is happening but they were politely coy and suggested we look at the Plain Tasty facebook page, which we did and the most recent entry was for 14 January stating that they had sadly decided to cease trading permanently but that there’ll ‘be a new exciting business taking over’ with new owners.

Discovered this lovely new café by chance earlier this week. Super friendly family run new business, lovely terrace for a hot afternoon, sipping a chilled caramel coffee...yum! Please support this place, not least students...they deserve to be very successful

We arranged for a meal for our group of nine on a Monday. The kitchen was specially opened for us and we had a private room upstairs. The food was exception value for money and the service was fantastic 👌

All very good. The menu was reduced which is a shame as I missed the brie cranberry and bacon flatbread, however the pie was lovely.

I popped along for coffee and food with my husband and granddaughter today. The lady took our order then disappeared, with no explanation. We were left waiting for our food and drinks, after a while she came back with no apology. I asked her colleague for our order, because by now other orders had been taken. I asked the colleague what had happened and she said, "she had to run to the toilet it was an emergency". Seeing the lady behind the counter handling food after being told of the emergency toilet situation 🤢. I said I didn't need to know the details, and could I please cancel my food order. She was rude and abrupt and said she was only being honest and telling the truth.... Thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes I was offered a refund which I declined as another assistant offered to prepare my order. Working in hospitality myself (restaurant supervisor), I would be horrified if a member of staff had expressed to a customer that she had to go to the toilet because it was an emergency ! Any other excuse could have been given, but the toilet and an emergency aren't the words you want to hear when someone is preparing your food. The assistant defended herself in a rude manner by saying "I was only telling the truth, do you want me to tell lies". Not very professional. And actually yes ! In this instance a lie would have been better. But once again, thank you for your swift reply, perhaps some staff training might be helpful.

I found the Bar Steward Mohammad to be very friendly helpful professional and forthcoming with suggestions on what we could drink. He always had a smile every time we came to him at the bar.
