Absolutely belting. They've got a new guy working in the kitchen who is a trained chef! I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was without a doubt the best burger I've ever had. They also offer some really obscure takes on cheesy chips which I can't wait to try. I felt this "plaice" went a little downhill in recent years but they're back with a vengeance.

Was very disappointed got scampi meal and sausage meal only got about ten chips in each, scampi tasted a bit odd also, more like prawn. Had high Hope's maybe other items on the menu are different but won't be going back to see as felt I paid a lot of money and was left famished 😳😞

Visited here on good Friday, very busy as you can imagine but didn't bother me, after all if you are waiting like that then shows how good their food is. Did not disappoint, fish was delishious as were the chips peas and curry sauces. Staff were fantastic very well organised and attentive to every customer.

First time trying, & Best fish I've ever had! Me and my partner shared a medium haddock and chips and there was plenty! The fish was huge. I had gravy and that tasted amazing also. The kids enjoyed there sausage too :) would definitely order again.

I’m probably one of your biggest fans! Been coming here since it opened, has always been nice fish but now the chips have got lovely. It’s the only place that doesn’t leave me feeling sick and bloated afterwards and apparently all to do with the fat being cleaned daily 😇 I’m always on and off SlimmingWorld so sometimes just have a lightly battered fish and peas, but otherwise have the full hit with chips, 😋 It must be hard work running a chip shop, so lucky to have this on my doorstep My mum lives in Thelwall and there’s a very popular one in Grappenhall, very highly rated, but not a patch on this one. Hope that you manage to sort the restaurant after all the hard work put into the train, what a quaint place to eat - good luck 🤞……….. and thanks to your lovely manager and team 😍

Wow. Disgusting. We have dogs and after a couple of mouthful of the food deemed it would be animal cruelty to give this garbage to the dogs so it went straight in the bin. Worst food we've had for many years. Stay away

I always call here for fish as its lovely batter, not sure what’s happened, but the food tonight was awful chips were full of black marks and had deffo been cooked and reheated.

Just been about an hour ago chips were awful warmed up with black chips fish asked for it not 2 be crispy came out crispy Ten pounds all but a few pence including curry sauce dont bother garbage will not return dont waste good money

The last two visits to to this fish and chip take out has been disappointing there was more batter than fish to me it had been put in the fryer twice it was a Saturday early evening it wasn't worth £6 50

I haven’t been here for quite a while and tonight was a treat due to managing weight 😬 Couldn’t have been more perfect, the fish here has always been light fresh and lovely but the chips just ok (tasted frozen actually) Tonight they were the best I have ever had, Cheshire potatoes cooked perfectly. I don't understand these awful negative reviews. I've been a regular custom before and since Covid. Never had a complaint. I think people should recognise this is a tiny family business who work very hard, they are polite and happy to serve good quality food. So think on - times are tough for everyone, be kind, support hard working small firms. Stop sitting behind your keyboard posting perverse complaints. If you find issues with your food, speak to the team. It's a take out service

I have been to this venue several times and I find it to be very good value for money. They also provide an online ordering service which is very convenient. Although they advertise a delivery service when you order online you can only select collection. The food they offer has always been well prepared and ready for collection on time. The negative is that the choice of fish is very limited with only option. A wider choice would be nice. Would I recommend a friend? Yes Would I use this restaurant again? Most definitely.

To the young rude, ignorant girl that served my mum and autistic son. Manners and politeness cost nothing where rudeness is a choice. After my mum saying she only wants salt on the chips, she proceeded to put vinegar on, when mum corrected her she was challenged and the chips slammed on the counter. My mum would never of asked for vinegar because that is one of my sons triggers. After eventually getting what she ordered she again slammed the chips on the counter. It is safe to say we and everyone we have told will never be returning . You need to teach your staff some decent customer services skills!!!!!!

The fish and chips are excellent unfortunately ordering on line to avoid queuing is a joke. Easy to order but food not ready at time requested. Others in queue who came after me were served first. When asked about it told they we busy and didn't need to have the order. Was not polite a simple sorry I am under pressure I will do your order next would have sufficed Will not be using again a pity as have used many times over last few years. No point in having order on line if not acknowledging and meeting the timescale. Very abusive member of staff. AVOID

This use to be be a really nice chippy well for a trip across town. Been for the first time since Covid-19 and it's really gone down hill. Dispite have 5 members of staff on duty they took the over 10mins to serve each customer. I don't mind waiting for quality food but what we got was far from quality. Not only where the chips greasy but they tasted only partially cooked and where so pale as to almost look raw.

The Fish and chips was first class. All the staff working at full speed tonight, there was a long queue and that of course says a lot about the quality and service. Brilliant job getting all your customers served as quickly as poss.

First time ordering from here and will definitely be ordering again. Ordered donner meat and chips with chilli sauce, the chilli sauce was missing, but nothing I couldn't fix at home with some chilli flakes and sauce. Everything else was perfect.

Called in on spec, & what lovely friendly people, & more importantly lovely chips!! Not being local to Warrington, didn’t know where to start really. Having searched locally for take out fish & chips in the area, Plaice Station came up close by. I must say beautifully cooked fish & great tasty chips!! Highly recommend A+++

Collection service was absolutely first class - great hot food in recyclable containers (no plastic), ready on time, brought to my car by a friendly lady who I was pleased to see was wearing a facemask. The online ordering worked like a dream and they even added by Car Reg to the order when I forgot to do so. Well done Plaice Station!

Ordered for pick up. Kebab wasn’t a kebab - hardly any d doner meat and it was wrapped up in a wrap - more Mayo than meat! The chip portions were small for the price - cone of chips was just a few chips wrapped in paper. Fish was swimming in grease and wasn’t even a full size fish. The only good thing was the batter mix they use which would be amazing if left to drain.Previously I have always been impressed with the quality and quantity of food served but my last two visits now have been this bad. Sadly I will not be using again.

Ordered week before and found very nice , so ordered again for delivery, of the 6 items ordered only 4 came , phone up and was told they would deliver in another 20 mins said rest of food would be cold by then so they offered to give for free next time, onto the food the chips were soggy, and the batter on the fish wet and soggy and the fish tasted very bland upon calling again was told it was busy and mistakes can happen will never use again

Ok fish and chips but not the ‘best chippy’ as advertised on staff t-shirts. Food cooked fresh but my fish wasn’t crisp it was so sloppy underneath and my peas were tasteless. My husbands Irish curry was tasty but again fish was sloppy. I don’t live far so it wasn’t in the bag long. Very expensive for what I’d say was a mediocre meal - there’s much better chippys in the area.

Booked a delivery on line for 19.25 yesterday.The order arrived on time and the fish and chips were hot and delicious.

Worst Fish and Chips I've ever had. fatty soggy batter. Grey tasteless cod. Cardboard chips that tasted as if they'd been kept warm for days. Rude miserable staff. Gave 1 star as there is no option to give zero.

After having a couple of nice meals from this place in the past, my wife went to get some food tonight, 2 donner kebabs, one with bit of lettuce tomato and onion, with tiny pitta bread, i got one without salad or pitta, both portions were minute, both meals together would probably just be about enough feed one person, plus 3 tiny halloumi dippers n chill sauce for £3 something?? , 25 minute wait didnt help either, so was shocked to return home and see the amount given, dont get me wrong the meat was delicious, but by the time you were starting to enjoy it, it was finished, lovely place and friendly staff, but hey come on guys, if we're paying a price, lets get our moneys worth.

This is a regular takeaway for us. Friendly staff, good quality food and a decent range of choices on offer.

I ordered food for me & 8 of my work colleagues. I requested it to be delivered to my place of work at a specific time. Food arrived in the time i requested and was still hot which we was really pleased with as we wasnt sure if it would be. The order was perfect & Everyone really enjoyed it & have asked if we can do it on a regular basis so thankyou very much & we will 100% be returning in the future. Beautiful food.

Im very picky about where i get my fish n chips from, and tryed this place for the first time, it was superb, delicious!! And will certainly be returning.

I visited after the game at nearby Rylands fc its very handy for getting my train home to Stockport the Meat & Potato pie chips & gravy was very nice indeed & cost £4.75 the owner was friendly & chatty too. my only gripe was maybe a few more chips would be better.

Last week I picked up some chips on my way home from Manchester. I paid £1.80 for about 10 chips which were thrown in the bin less than 15 minutes later. The chips were chewy and the potato hard inside. Me and my mum tried to make a chip butty to mask the taste but even that got thrown in the bin. Do not recommend.

I have been here several times and have got to say the fish is second to none! Well worth a visit if your in the area.

The fish was greasy and the batter was soft. The small fish was tiny. They only do one size portion of chips which is a pitiful amount and they had no fish cakes. Pot of peas were alright but that’s about it. best bit about it was the can of Vimto. Definitely won’t be returning

One of the only fish and chip shops that I will buy from. The fish are light, fresh and crispy. The type of fish that don’t make you feel regretful afterwards! The reason the wait is long is because everything is very fresh. Excellent manager present most of the time, training staff well, doesn’t miss a trick!

Always queuing out the door when we go. Have to order some items so freshly cooked and worth the short wait. Good chips.

I have had only fish and chips here so cannot comment on the huge range on offer. The Staff ar friendly and eager to please.

I have never been to a chip shop that i have had to wait so long...... stood for 20 mins in a line food was terrible when i finally got it....

Called in on my way home for one portion of chips, 2 people were in the queue ahead. I waited for about 10 minutes to be served. When I was served they were running out of chips and the girl serving was behaving a little sheepishly as she gave me a very small portion of chips. So I came away with a small portion of dry chips. As I left a big queue had formed behind. The girl serving was slow and not interested in customer service. Will avoid it for a while.

I have visited this chip shop over a number of years and it had always been hit and miss as to the quality of the food. But recently it appears to be run by a number of young girls, the chips were tasteless and hard on my last visit I will not be going there again.

Decided to call for chip cones after being at the park with my grandchildren, sorry I did now. Chips were tasteless and some of them were hard. I think we got the last ones as they were ready for closing, won't be going again in the near future.

Was incredibly disappointed with food from here. Don’t go there often but after a busy day decided to treat us all. Sorry I bothered now, the young staff were more interested in what they were going to be doing after work than taking orders.

Plaice station has always been our favourite local chippy but tonight all three of out meals weren't enjoyable. Chips were cold, hard, tasteless, chicken burger missing tomato, it had inedible massive chunks of onion and both the barm cakes we had were stale.

This is a great fish & chip shop, by far the best fish around. The staff are efficient and professional and the food is excellent. If you want great quality food, not poor large quantity food, then this is the place to go.

We visited family last year and had delicious fish & chips from here .. highly recommended and reasonably priced

They do a fab lunch time meal deal of small fish, cone of chips and mushy peas, just enough for lunch. The fish is alway delicious, well cooked and never dry or greasy.

Been here on many occasions for our "Traditional fish and chips" they are very well cooked and enjoyable, and always freshly fried. This is not a restaurant but a take-a way.

Nice and clean, picturesque chip shop sat on the train station at Padgate, does a range of English meals and pizza, reasonable fish n chips but service is very slow and not very friendly, food is ok nothing special.

First visit, as just moved into the area.Beautiful boneless and skinless fish, chips and mushy peas for two. Fish freshly cooked as we went in. New staff, great service. Owner, outside asked if we had to wait long and explained they were training new staff, but there wasn't a problem at all. We used to live in Grappenhall, and have eaten from The Big Fish, and Pannys, both award winning chippies, but this Chippy beats them hands down!Highly recommend it.

I last visited several years ago and was quite impressed, since then I dont know what has happened, but this was the worst takeaway meal I can recall for a lot of years. The place was empty but at least I thought I was going to get beautifully cooked, fresh fish. Well I asked for it to be individually wrapped from the chips and when I got it home (2 mins around the corner) my wife opened the fish and wretched! It was absolutely swimming in oil - probably enough to cook it in again!! I wouldnt be exaggerating if I said there were 3 tablespoons of oil in the paper. The chips were pale and undercooked. The portion sizes were also poor. I love fish and chips and if this was the last one on earth I wouldnt go back again.....id rather have fish finger butties cooked at home. Going back to Culcheth - a hundred times better!!!

The batter on the fish was soggy and only part covered the fish and left a little pool of oil when it was put on a plate. The chips where pale and soft they needed cooking for a bit longer. Never getting fish and chips from there EVER again.

The quality of the fish is what I like here, no giving you fish that's been sat in the warmer for half an hour. They'll also cook it how you want, so if you only want a very light batter then that's no problem.Even though there's usually people already in the queue, the first thing you will be asked when you walk through the door of the Plaice Station is if you want any fish. If you do its battered and cooked there and then, by the time you get to the front of the queue its ready for you all freshly cooked. Chips are usually pretty good and they make a point of using locally sourced spuds. I'd also recommend the homemade fish cakes which are excellent.Prices are fairly average for chippys in the area and service is good with the staff always happy, enjoying a bit of banter. The Plaice Station will continue to be my monthly treat

Every time I visit the food is consistently great, the staff are very friendly too. As a family we tried the delivery service last week and were very impressed, we will certainly be using this service again.

I visited this Chip Shop on recommendation from my neighbour, I am relatively new to the area, and I have to say, the Fish and Chips were fantastic. Actual Cod which makes a difference from some chip shops that use a cheap imitation. I personally would recommend this Plaice ( haha) to anybody...

Small portions and expensive, not very good on the customer service front. They do sell tasty fish and nice local sourced spuds for there chips.

Only serve one sized portion of chips, tiny. The gravy was tasteless, the peas were just a pot of green liquid. And they don't sell haddock.

Friday evening, surely a chippy's busiest period. There's a queue of seven, and five staff behind the little counter. Waited 10 mins while they fumbled about serving those in front of me. Were they not expecting any customers? Why not have stuff ready when you can see people queueing out of the door? So it gets to my turn, I pay, wait another 10 mins, and they run out of peas! Refunded £1. Get my little order: 1x fish [only cod on the menu] , 2 sausages & two portions of chips) and clear off home ... 10 mins later I open the bag - there's only 1 portion of chips! FURIOUS!!

Such a shame that this chippy has gone down hill - visited on Saturday evening - the service was very slow, chips were underdone and the steak pie was like dog food encased in leather with a top like concrete.What has happened here ? A couple of years ago I would have said that this was amongst the best in Warrington now I wont be re-visiting.

An average chippy with a reasonable choice on the menu - price is comparable with others in the area

When I was growing up the best chippy was, for me, Tony's on Oldham Road in Rochdale. There was something about the taste of the fish/batter and the fabulous chips that meant I was reluctant to have fish from any other chippy. Tony's was very popular and had up to six people serving of a lunchtime!I am pleased to report that the Plaice Station's fish comes very close to matching Tony's for quality and flavour and I enjoy shop bought fish and chips once again!We live round the corner and enjoy good quality fish and chips every now and again from The Plaice Station. Service is efficient, even though it can get busy at times (a potential problem for quality establishments!) and the opening times have become more extensive over the years (I seem to remember in the early days very limited openings at lunch and in the evenings). All in all I would recommend the Plaice Station for good quality, fairly priced English fish and chips.

Fresh, tasty, perfect, best fish (apart from Scotland) ever from a chippy, chips not at all greasy and incredibly tasty, the only chippy for me!
