Pizza West in Scarborough

Recommended. Thoroughly enjoyed. Bit pricey but worth it.

Wow - what a gem! It’s not often I do a starter, main and dessert but the food was such high quality that I couldn’t help it! The whipped feta starter was divine, the pizzas were perfectly cooked and delicious. I’m a wannabe pizza chef and have very high standards, and this more than surpassed them. My wife’s grape, Brie and caramelised onion pizza was the star of the show. The white chocolate mousse and tiramisu were excellent and a perfectly portioned. The servers were lovely - very efficient and took good care of us and the atmosphere was lovely - a very well dressed restaurant with the log burner in the middle and the open kitchen. I really cannot fault anything about the evening we had at Pizza West. My only regret is that I have delayed trying it for so long! The best pizza on the North Yorkshire coast without a doubt. We will certainly be back soon!

One of the best pizza places in Whitby, a great selection of pizzas and pasta

A lady there had returned a drink due to having something she is allergic to that wasn't listed on the menu (oranges) and had a orange placed on top, the member of staff took the drink, then a "manager" came over and shouted "YOU DIDNT TELL ME YOU HAD ALLERGIES", they never asked if we had any allergies in fairness and the menu did not say it had oranges at all (we ofcourse double checked after). no apology just extremely rude. Then brought the new drink about 15 minutes later and just slams it down and walks away. Again no apology. Disgraceful customer service. I personally hope the service gets better because the food was amazing.

It was my first time at Pizza West. The food was lovely and the mango margarita was delicious. I would highly recommend eating here. I would suggest booking a table.

It annoys me why pizzas are so expensive in this country and Pizza West is no exception. £18 for a medium sized average pizza is crazy. The whole buratta on it didn't work for me either. Service was a bit indifferent too. Inside it's quite nice though. Outside, it looks a bit like a changing room/toilet block for a sports club!

Food didn't arrive until it was too late and we had to go. 5:50 we arrived, 7:15 we had to go. Tables who arrived after us got food, our order was clearly forgotten and there were clearly too many tables filled. Accept all the bookings you want, but have the staff. When asked, we were told we should have said we needed to be done by 7:15. We were also told the table we saw arrive after us arrived before us. I mean, come on, we have eyes. I'm sorry, but over an hour for 3 pizzas that never arrived and when asked we were told it was a further 15 - 20 minutes, that is ridiculous. £86 for three starters and 2 rounds of drinks for 3. Not worth it.

Absolutely divine pizza. I never would have thought of a pear, walnut and blue cheese pizza, but it was gorgeous. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Update: the pear, walnut and cheese pizza is no longer available. Still nice pizza, but slightly disappointed about the lack of vegetarian pizzas now. Updated update: more vegetarian options this time, and quite interesting. Brie, grape, onion and tomato was really good. Updated update: better veggie options this time and still excellent pizzas.

Really lovely end of holiday meal in a modern, lively and atmospheric restaurant set in a location that is off the main tourist routes, and with lovely views. Fabulous customer service too, from a friendly team. We had some of the best pizza we've ever had, and the roast potatoes in ailioli were awesome. Definitely one to visit again.

Disappointed as I drove from Robin Hood Bay to be told it’s closed that was at 20.40 pm when it states 23.00 hours on website it’s still opened now according to website. It did look good though.

Lovely place and staff were friendly and attentive. The pizzas were full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Wouldn't of been 5 stars if it wasn't for the price. Very expensive. £15 for margarita pizza for my son because theres no kids menu. It's basically cheese on toast. Would highly recommend this place as a one off but wouldn't be back for that price

Fantastic starter (chicken) but the pizza was well over seasoned; I couldn't taste the mushrooms or ham due to the tomato sauce base.

Wow, What a place to eat.. went on the off chance they could squeeze 1 in ,it was v busy Tues after b/h.. not a problem .. sat at the bar .. Best place I'd say.. seriously couldn't take my eyes off the meticulous attention to detail every member of staff gave to their job, it was like a machine and I'd say with respect not one of them was over 28ish .. credit to the whole team, as I work in a similar industry ,all looked to be enjoying their role and smiling, not an ego amongst them ,difficult in this day and age ..had a chat with a lovely lady about how good the whole ambience was ,that's why it's busy all the time i guess .guy next to me overheard the convo and duplicated my sentiments and re booked already for October ... food exceptional ,service superb ,music top notch , great evening thanks Pizza West ..

We had a fantastic night at pizza west on Saturday night. I would definitely recommend eating at the counter, we loved watching the pizzas being made and cooked whilst we waited. I want to make a point of how great it was to see such a young team of people working so hard non stop, the whole system flowed incredibly and the pride in what they were creating was second to none. As an employer myself I know It's hard to find young people with that work ethic so those guys in that kitchen deserve alot of credit. The food was lovely. We had clams and meatballs as our starters and the anchovies and meat lovers pizza's as our mains and all of the dishes were absolutely great. This is a must visit for people stopping in Whitby and the surrounding areas

We were part of a group of 12. The place is amazing inside, such a lovey atmosphere. You can see the pizzas being made which is always a good sign. Everyone loved every single dish and pizza that was ordered. The drinks we had were also very moorish! Would highly recommend, such a great place and for value and excellent quality. Will definitely dine there again when I’m next back in Whitby.

Great tasty pizza, coming with an cooling summer breeze!

I came here last year whilst on Holiday. The food, the service and thr atmosphere were all amazing. This year we simply had to come back and although busier everything was fantastic again. This restaurant seriously deserves more hype as it has a variety of amazing vegetarian options, beautiful views overlooking West cliff and optimistic staff members . I would highly recommended this pizza place to everyone!

We sat outside as they were busy and we hadn't booked, i would definitely come back. The food was gorgeous and there were really unusual combos on the pizzas. Staff were all so helpful and friendly, all mucking in together like a proper team. When we went inside to pay i noticed that the kitchen is in the centre of the restaurant with all the fresh produce on display. It was a lovely buzzing atmosphere, although we got to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful Whitby sunset, so it was win/win!

Overall a nice experience hence 5 stars. However, I almost gave fewer stars because of the very strict 2 hour rule. Which is made very clear * IN BOLD * when booking and seems a bit tight. A simple meal for 3, with a starter and main eaten at a moderate pace with a couple of drinks took 1 hour 45 minutes. If we'd had a pudding or coffee we would have gone over the alloted time. Therefore, all felt a bit rushed and pressurised. Sure, if you have people lingering once they have finished, then politely encourage them to move on. However, for what is meant to be a quality restaurant delivering a relaxed dining experience (and the meal and service were both good to be honest) then please chill out a bit on the time thing and consider changing your website and policy. However, very nice overall on this occasion. Thank you.

I was expecting some of the best pizza I'd ever eaten after reading reviews of Pizza West, but sadly what I got was distinctly average at best. Whilst the staff were all very pleasant, the service was chaotic; rather than having designated jobs, each member of staff seemed to be doing everything from front of house greeting, to taking orders, to mixing cocktails, to serving food, hence it took an age before our order was even taken (which matters when you are told on booking that you have a time limit on your table). The pizza itself was the biggest let down. My ham and mushroom pizza was both burnt around the edges and very oily closer to the centre; my partner's chicken shawarma was dried out and minus the pomegranate promised on the menu. (They did warn him of this after we'd ordered, and asked if he'd like a substitute topping, but what do you replace pomegranate with? And they made no suggestions, so we just left it without.) We boxed half of our pizzas to eat the next day, as we often do, but honestly we couldn't face them and ended up binning them as they just weren't that nice. The restaurant itself is nice inside, quite instagramable is the way I'd describe it, and it's in a lovely location looking out to sea. Unfortunately the pizza itself doesn't live up to the hype, for the very high prices I expected something really special.

Service was decent, the girl that welcomed us in was really lovely. Not suitable for anyone with young kids in their group, there’s no kids options or high chairs and because we had a toddler with us I felt as though they tried to get us out the door very quickly. The pizzas were lovely but a bit overpriced if I’m honest. Not likely to be back, hopefully they are more welcoming for families with young kids in the future.

Booked a table for 4 people at 6pm on a Friday. The booking form clearly says you're allocated 2hrs , which is plenty (usually...) Staff were attentive orders were taken promptly wine was delivered and we sat there chatting .. It took 45mins for the starter to arrive. Not a problem, we were happily chatting. We ate it promptly and carried on chatting. Appropriately another 45mins later the main course arrived. There was a minor issue here as nobody had been to clear the table of the starter plates, but we worked it out! Again, we devoured the main courses and carried on chatting. This time the table was cleared faster, coffee & desserts were ordered and delivered promptly. We were aware that time was ticking on so we asked for the bill, sorted payments, went to the loo & prepared to leave. At this point, we were asked to leave quite abruptly by a member of staff as they needed the table for somebody else. We were putting our coats on ..they knew we'd paid, so why tell us?? Cynically, they waited until we'd given a tip to do this, but that could just be my cynical mind. Spoiled a really good meal/night... won't be going back.

Booked here for 6.30pm on a Friday night and it was full, and very noisey. Thoroughly enjoyed the food unfortunately service let it down. Was waiting ages for drinks order to be taken, then had to request to pay twice. Servers seemed more focused on pleasing the large group which was dining. I had the tusan sausage pizza and partner had the meat lovers pizza. We also shared a side of roast potatoes with garlic, which came on a bed of green pesto which wasn't mentioned on the menu, as my partners not a fan of green pesto but i really enjoyed them, super garlicky! Atmosphere not so relaxing, very noisey. Food very nice but the service and atmosphere let it down. For the above, plus large wine and 2 morettis it came to £68.

Had lunch in Pizza West today with my wife and five yesr old on very rainy day. Wasn't very busy but we booked just in case. Food was excellent - we had burrata, sardines, chilli crab pasta and pizza and all was very tasty. Wine was great, rhubarb cocktail was full of flavoue and tiramasu and chocolate orange cannoli was a lovely way to finish. Service was friendly and attentive and overall good value for the quality of the food and service. Will definitely be back!

Amazing pizzas. As with most pizza restaurants, there is a lot of food! So my girlfriend and I shared two starters, one pizza and a side salad and it was more than enough! I would definitely visit again!

The food was delicious but the service was very average, waiting ages for our mains after our starters, no one came to collect the starter plates, had to ask when our food was coming etc. Was 9pm on a Saturday but our table didn’t have a complicated order. Pizza was good but didn’t make up for poor service.

Very nice meal. Good variety of pizza and other pasta dishes. Generous quantity of olives - I ordered 2 dishes for 4 people. 1 would have been enough. It's quite difficult to get into because it's so popular. Deserves its good reputation.

We went to Pizza West this week and thoroughly enjoyed. Pizza's were great - we thoroughly enjoyed. The menu was good and different to many other Italian restaurants. Kids are able to have smaller portions of pasta dishes but normal size pizzas. We booked a few weeks ago to secure availability - we were staying close by. The restaurant was popular, busy and a good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. We would happily recommend to others and return again. Only suggestion would be that they offer smaller pizza options for kids

A buzzy, vibrant Italian restaurant with great staff and excellent food. As someone who is gluten free, pizza can be extremely disappointing, but this was far from that. A great base that I'd challenge anyone to pick out of a line-up, a lovely tomato sauce and generous toppings. We ordered the olives to get us going and the generosity of the portion was a surprise. I thought I'd mistakenly ordered two portions by mistake, but no. They are good olives! We sat at the counter and it was truly mesmerising to watch the well drilled team of staff producing dish after fish of lovely food.

Really nice food, lovely surroundings, friendly staff, just a bit on the pricey side. At £18 for a pizza, this is a one-off treat for most. Visited with my daughter and, whilst my pizza was delicious, hers wasn't, and she ended up leaving half of it. I tasted it and it wasn't up to scratch for such a high price.

Amazing food, great service. Other customers had overstayed on the table we had booked for. This meant we had to go away to a nearby bar to pass time and come back. Perhaps further down the line you could rearrange for a bar area where groups can wait and get a drink at the restaurant. The nearby bar wasn't really that great and would have rather had a drink there

Pizza West is a fantastic Italian dining experience in Whitby. Set in a modern restaurant with traditional ambience, diners are given the choice of table service or a seat at the counter where you can see the staff working in the centre. The staff were very attentive and the food was stunning. My only negative is that I'm not local so won't be able to visit again soon to try even more of it!

Arrived 20 mins early for an 8pm reservation for 10, there is no bar and nowhere to wait. They told us of a bar we could walk to, we did and arrived back at 8pm. Table still wasn't ready and had to wait anyway for another 20 mins to be seated. We had booked this table weeks in advance. Main courses are predominantly Pizza, only 5 main alternatives, a few of us wanted to order the crab pasta from the alternatives to be told they don't have any, so they only had 4! The food was delivered on time and the food is very good, its very well appointed and nice atmosphere. The Pizza's are very good however. Overall it's quite pricey for drinks and food, considering the location is out of town.

Style over substance. I don’t think they know what sourdough is. Pizza was like a burned Dr Otker. Small town pretentiousness. Utter garbage and quite insulting as someone of Italian heritage. Avoid

Booked a table for 5pm. There was eight of us to celebrate my mum’s 81 st birthday. We arrived on time and ordered the food when asked. When passed the menus for dessert we were told we had a limited time to finish our meal. When ordering the dessert my mother ordered a particular one then to be told she would not have enough time to finish it. We ordered when asked , and we have no control how long the food took to arrive but one thing is for sure it’s very rude especially when spending over £400 to be told out of time. To make things worse when paying the bill a lady came out with a birthday cake which added insult to the situation. I spend all my time in a retail environment making sure customers receive a fantastic experience and to experience this is a shock to the system. My mum was very upset and one thing is for sure I will never set foot in this place ever again. I don’t care how much the bill was but I do care how rude people can be on a ladies 81st birthday.

I’ve been here 3 times. Booked it for Mums birthday. We knew it was for 2 hours only. However for 8 people- wine, starters , freshly cooked food - that was v limiting. Friend had ordered a surprise dessert for Mum and it came when we were told we’d only got a few mins left. We didn’t order desserts because we were told we had run out of time. We were spending a lot of money. Think restaurant need to review their timeline for larger groups. We won’t be coming back - v disappointing

Lovely food, great service from lovely people. We popped in on the off chance as we hadn't booked, the hostess was able to find us room at bar and so our Puzza West adventure was underway. The pizzas (and desserts) are hand made at the bar with fresh ingredients and are absolutely yummy. For dessert I had the cannoli as I've never had one before and have always fancied giving them a go, and I'm do glad i did. I fully recommend the chocolate orange gnache 😋 On a busy saturday evening the place had a buzz about it work people talking, orders being made up and cocktails being shaken, all in all well worth a visit if you're in the area. Thank you Pizza West, we'll be back 😎

Starters and pizzas were absolutely delicious - without a doubt one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. However, we had a dessert (tiramisu) which was terrible, and the service left an awful lot to be desired. It was busy when we arrived but had emptied out about half way through our meal, but we were basically forgotten about from the second half of our visit, and weren’t offered anything - we had to ask for dessert menu, dessert, and then had to go up and pay rather than be offered a bill. Would go back for the pizza, but given the reviews we were very disappointed by the service.

Great Evening meal at Pizza West, me and my wife had Olives and Maple Pigs in blankets to start and both were very good. Followed by the chorizo and pineapple pizza and a meat lovers pizza. Both of which were fantastic! Prices seemed a little high but for when you take into account the beautiful interior and attentive staff I can’t fault anything. You can literally watch your food being prepared and cooked. We sat at a table but liked the idea that you can sit at the counter around the food prep area. I would definitely recommend a visit!

We always visit Pizza West when visiting Whitby. A good choice of starters, pizza's and desserts. I can recommend the wood fired lamb chops. I would suggest you book as it does get very busy.

We loved this place. Very nice cosy yet upmarket feel to the interior and an amazing great central bar and open kitchen. Starters and pizzas were very, very good as was the Service. I would 100% have given a 5 star review but we were oddly overcharged for a bottle of wine at £38 instead of £33. The staff were fine about it and sorted it but strange as the wine was programmed into till incorrectly (they had to put through correct price manually)!! I try not be cynical but this is the 2nd restaurant in 2 weeks that I've been overpriced and hate having to check bills line by line. I'm sure it was just a mistake and they will correct till price for the wine. We will definitely be back as it was a great venue with great food and staff.

5 star food, quality atmosphere. Our young server made a mistake with our order (we all make mistakes) but she tried to say the 4 of us were wrong instead of owning her error, bit naughty. That aside I would return in a heartbeat to do it all over again but I would definately book in advance for a table...sat along the bar wasn't the best for conversation in a group.

Let's start with the positive points: the pizzas are very good, the desserts are pretty good too and the place is magnificent. On the other hand, it is extremely noisy: we can't even hear ourselves talking. The aperitifs are disappointing: the aperol spritz is poorly dosed and the quantity of sparkling served by the glass is ridiculous. The service is too fast: the pizzas were served to us even though we had not finished our aperitif. It’s a shame not to have managed to better exploit the great potential of this place.

Fantastic lunch, quality ingredients well prepared that justify the prices. Friendly team, lovely surroundings and perfect for a special occasion. Whitby has few great places to eat so happy to endorse this one.

After wandering through Whitby Beach, we felt so hungry. We saw this place and went there. It was busy at this time because it was an evening and a weekend, but the guy in the reception managed to find us a table. The service was really nice. I tried a few different pizzas and drinks; it was nice! Giving 5 stars for customer service and food (ambiance was good too).

What an amazing place next to the beach Food ws excellent. There were plenty of choices on the menu. We went for a margarita pizza and it was huge! Also, the garlic potatoes are the best, really tasty Service was excellent and speedy. Once we had finished our meal, we weren't pressured to leave like sone restaurants can be. Would recommend it!

Friendly service, decent setting… but slightly overpriced in honesty. You’re paying city centre pizza prices, and £6.80 for a pint of Moretti is daylight robbery. I wouldn’t rush back as the pizza was nothing special for the price, much better out there for cheaper. We visited based on many positive reviews, but we felt overcharged and underwhelmed.

I absolutely adore this place. The food is unreal, the staff are great and the decor of the restaurant is amazing too. Every time I come to Whitby, I make sure I fit my Pizza West meal in at least once. 100% recommend to anyone. The Nduja pizza is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten along with the whipped feta.

We hadn't booked but were able to sit outside on a busy Friday evening. The staff were really attentive and gave us some blankets as it was quite a cool evening. Food was very good, the king prawn spaghetti was plentiful and super tasty. Very accommodating team, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Visited tonight (Tuesday 5th) we hadn't booked but was welcomed and offered seating outside (lovely evening). Place was busy and atmosphere buzzing. Ordered olives, Negroni and prosecco to start, spaghetti with king prawn and queen scallops, tomato salad, simply tomato bread for main. Espressos to finish. Everything was an absolute delight, all plates, glasses and cups empty 😋😋 Absolutely wonderful place to eat, menu so varied. Service to match 👌👌 very attentive even though busy evening. Sea views which were only surpassed by the delicious and inventive menu. Just all round a high quality experience, you might even say elegant?

If you pour pizza with olive oil, dough will not rise and pizza locally stay unbaked. That’s unfortunately what happen to my pizza I’ve ordered. Shame, since it is not what I expected for 17£ pizza.
