La Roca Tapas Bar in Scarborough

A fabulous meal with well presented tasty food. Good friendly service. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and would visit a lot more if we were local.

The food was awesome we both loved it. I probably had a bit too much to eat as I was stuffed after and could not finish my drink 🤣🤣

La Roca is in a narrow cobbled side street off the main street of Scarborough near the market. The atmosphere is of a plain family-run restaurant. The tapas are delicious and good value for money and the service friendly and by an adult. The location is very convenient for the town centre attractions , but allow an hour plus walking time when booking before an event. Opening days and hours are limited so check.

Took a while to find this place , But so glad we did . The Tapas dishes where amazing . Very attentive staff and an amazing ambience. If you ever visit Scarbrough , Give this place a try its well worth a visit , Prices are very reasonable too. Well done La Roca Team , Best night during our short stay. Thankyou

So glad we dined here when in the area. Small family run business with quality food and service. Small menu but all our 7 tapas dishes were delicious. Less than £70 for two with a bottle of Prosecco, excellent value. Oh, and the quaint little dining area out back had fabulous views.

We visited here a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised it had reopened and under new ownership. All the tapas was very tasty with a nice selection. The wine was reasonably priced and the owners efficient and friendly. The hidden outdoor courtyard was lovely and the weather nice enough for us to sit out and finish our drinks. The only thing I would change is the Greek salad which although delicious. was served in a small tapas dish but would have preferred it as a standard sized salad. We’ll definitely go back

Our first meal in Scarborough and the tapas food was delicious here. Decent kids menu and nice selection of Tapas although we would suggest offering some non-spicy dishes as well, as most on offer were quite spicy! The starter selection board and chicken kebab special were particularly yummy! Very happy to recommend.

As tapas lovers we just had to go to La roca ,we ordered five dishes with was plenty ,the food was outstanding ,my husband said it was the best tapas he'd had outside spain ,we also had a jug of sangria which was delicious, our hosts made us feel very welcome ,had we been in Scarborough for a few more nights we would definitely have eaten there again but we will definitely go when next in Scarborough thanks Andy and Linda from June and Grahame ( Shaw)

Great little restaurant with a simple, tasty menu. Really enjoyed our meal here. Staff extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. View out the back is stunning. We loved the whole experience and will be back.

Lovely food and great service! We sat outside because it was a nice day - loved the views. We got a cheese and meat platter with a glass of wine each which was £20 and 3 tapas for £15 (not pictured) which was really well priced. Thank you! 😄❣️

So glad to hear this tapas restaurant has reopened, it’s one of our favourite restaurants when visiting Scarborough. It’s a small restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Food is excellent offering a variety of dishes and is reasonably priced. I would recommend booking a table. Will definitely be booking again in our next visit to Scarborough.

This is a really authentic, family run tapas bar just off the main seafront in Scarborough. The menu is well thought out and is great for couples and families too. We really enjoyed our meal there.

It used to be nice, but its someone new now and they were lovely, but the place is not the same. The food was very bland, poor and overpriced for the quality of the food. The platter was ridiculous and certainly not worth £15. I wont be going again.

What a great restaurant. Staff and owners super friendly and food absolutely gorgeous. Have had tapas all over Spain and various locations around UK and this place is in my top 3. We were a party of 4 and started with the sharing seafood platter then had everything on the menu bar two items spread out over 3 hours. Don’t get to Scarborough very often but would definitely return when we do eventually stay over again. UTB

Found this restaurant last year whilst on holiday had no hesitation on returning, it only opens Thursday - Sat so book early to avoid disappointment. Knowing how good the food was last year we ordered 3 dishes each + salad and potato bravos and just shared it all between us 2. Everything was so tasty lots of flavours and nothing over powering, special shout out to the chicken and prawn skewers. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The only negative about this restaurant is it’s too far away 240 mile round trip. If in Scarborough again I’ll be calling the week before to book Bravo!!

How this place gets good reviews is beyond me! If you've ever eaten tapas in Spain you wouldn't believe this was supposed to be that. Food was very bland, meatballs and sauce very poor, the rice worse than you'd get out of a savoury rice packet, the bread rubbish supermarket quality. Not remotely Spanish in terms of ingredients and presentation. Also our table looked clean but was tacky/sticky. Weird choice of background music for a Spanish style restaurant (random 80's pop). It's fairly cheap, but I'd rather pay extra and have an enjoyable meal. Also, it was cash only (machine not working apparently). Owners seem like nice enough people but these were the worst tapas I've ever had

Why does anyone give this place good reviews? There is a lack of decent dining areas in the Old Town part of Scarborough and I can only imagine other reviewers who give this place 5 star reviews usually eat wherever is cheapest. These are the poorest quality tapas you can imagine, even the bread is poor. Do not go here if you want a good quality meal in nice surroundings, you will be disappointed

I came in tonight 15 minutes early to be seated with very friendly and attentive staff. Immediately we were served and recommended a new beer for me to try. As it was my partner's birthday I wanted to take her somewhere nice and having not visited Scarborough since I was in school so well over a decade and this place has blown me out of the water. The food was absolutely spot on, I cannot recommend the seafood platter more, along with the chicken, prawn and chorizo skewers, flatbread and alioli. I will definitely be coming back again. Average Tapas, was expecting more from the reviews. Albondigas sauce was watery and not very flavoursome. Anchovy’s and Mackerel pate was good standard though.

When we visit Scarborough we always come to La Roca, and our most recent visit didn't disappoint. The crab cakes were fantastic and we really enjoyed all our other food - the patas bravas was better than some we have tried in Spain - and we have visited a lot of tapas bars in Spain! The white Rojca was fantastic - and at a very reasonable price. The service was attentive although the staff did seem a little overwhelmed at one point. We would have had dessert but weren't offered a dessert menu so didn't order any, and there was a delay getting the bill, although this didn't spoil our enjoyment of the amazing food.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Great service and food at what we thought was an incredibly reasonable price. Loved the atmosphere. First time we have left a tapas restaurant in the UK without feeling underwhelmed or ripped off!

We had a great meal. We ordered every dish on the menu and finished the lot. 5 of us. The owners are amazing and don’t rush you to leave even though someone was waiting for our table. They sat at 2 other tables. We enjoyed the food. Very casual and enjoyable. Loved the black Zambuca shots that came with the bill. Great value. Thank you. We enjoyed it very much

Cafe at best, the food was bland, rubbery and tasteless, 4 out of 6 of our dishes were smothered in sweet chilli sauce to try and inject a little flavour, the surroundings and the service were what you would expect in a town centre cafe, my Pepsi was even served in a can, and if you were hoping for a quiet romantic meal forget it...pop music playing at a fairly loud volume will pain to that. I have never see the dishes cleared from the table by putting them in a big red plastic box to carry them away.

Located off the main sea front up a steep hill and so difficult to locate, had we not pre-booked and only just arrived in Scarborough so unaware of other places to eat we would not have gone into this place.Food looks really good but is not very tasty, ambience is not at all Spanish, abit run down.Would not recommend.

Tiny little restaurant tucked away in a side street just off the main drag. Booking a must. Our food was great, we picked 5 dishes: Serrano ham, prawn chicken and chorizo skewers, meatballs, white anchovies and crab fishcakes. Some were served with rustic bread so this made it more than enough for 2 to share. Washed down by a decent well priced bottle of white wine. The service was great and you receive a complimentary tipple when you pay the bill. A nice touch. Highly recommend a visit.
