Amazing food and excellent service, everything was perfect. Huge credit to aled for all his help, as well as natalie who went out their way to help us.

Found the service slow with only half the restaurant full.

Absolutely disgusting service in here today (04/08/2024) Staff seemed to have forgotten about us, when asked where the food was they went to check and came back and said the food has just gone in now. 1hr 20mins later the food finally turned up. Staff not the friendliest in here today. We come here quite a lot but todays visit will definitely be our last.

Booked online to this place for dinner. Not really a good weather for a night out. We were ushered to our table, the place was busy I asked for a place where it’s warmer to sit. We just ordered pizza’s and some drinks. The waitress was very welcoming and polite. She took our order and waited for about 10 - 15 minutes with our order. The pizza was excellent..just perfect ! We really enjoyed it after how many months of not eating pizza. The only thing we don’t like is..there were so many guys eg..probably Uber eats delivery drivers (not sure if they are) blocking the door of this establishment when we left the premises. 2 drivers standing in front of the door..!!! Apart from this it’s a pleasant place to eat pizza! I can highly recommend this place.

Our server Natalie was fantastic throughout. She could not do enough for us. The food and drinks were all served quickly and everything was delicious. The place soon livened up but we did not feel crowded or rushed. Natalie got wind that it was our daughter’s birthday, and added a candle to her brownie and sang Happy Birthday. This was such a lovely touch, and this will definitely be a birthday meal we all remember. Genuinely, I cannot think of a bad thing to say about this Pizza Express, and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Fond memories about this place from the 90's when there wasnt a pizza express on every high street. Times change I know but a Pizza Express Fiorentina with extra hot green peppers is still my fav pizza in the World

Almost empty at 12.25, our waitress was new and we were patient and she did her job well, but time went on before we got drinks, dough balls were great, but my pizza was £16+, thin base, extra pepperoni and chilli, when it arrived it was burnt and very very thin, with the crispness of a poppadom, very salty, soggy chillies, we were a party pre booked for 4 adults 5 children, my order was not the only one to disappoint, our last visit was also disappointing but we gave it another try, sadly we don't recommend Pizza Express and we will not be going again. We have had better meals and pizza at wetherspoons, and before you judge we also eat at far better restaurant's

Upon arrival we were greeted by a young lady. First impressions do have an impact on how well the night will go. The only way i can describe my experience was depressing, All throughout the time we were there i was personally getting laughed at and getting dirty impressions ( as the kids would call it). Not a good look on the business. Only reason I'm giving this a 2 star is because the food was average.

Took so long to even be acknowledged by staff let alone get seated that I had to give up. Appeared to be significantly understaffed on my visit.

Arrived at 5pm. Only one other table in at the time. Took my son (11yrs) and his friend out for a treat tea. Waited an hour for 2 pizzas.really Small in size - looked more like kids sizes despite being off the adult menu. Both were still hungry after and I cooked again when I got home. Waited a further 20 mins for dessert menu. Gave up. Asked for bill. £45 for 2 pizzas, 1 garlic bread ( pitta size) and 1 drink as one just had tap water. Waited a further 15 mins to pay before giving up and leaving cash on the table to then be asked on the way out if we were paying card or cash. Wouldn’t go again even if it was free

It's a shame this branch looks a bit tired- paintwork on the disabled loo is all worn. Speed of food was weirdly slow. 35mins for starters? Could do with improving sadly especially compared to other local branches.

The pizza and dough balls are always great

As 7 adults we took 17 children after a 7th birthday activity. The staff and food were amazing. They couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive and they made a birthday visit very special, managing delivery of the preorders to the correct person. A party of that size could have been difficult but they made it seamless and everything delivered to a high standard. Thank you couldn’t have asked for more.

As 7 adults we took 17 children here after a 7th birthday party activity. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them. The kids had a great time and the food was fab too. Really felt like they dedicated a very personal service to our party and really made the birthday meal special. Thank you

So... Pizza Express, like many chain restaurants, is trying to keep alive during a time where many people will be cutting back on their spending. Gone is the pretentious music with a generic selection for folks in their 30s/40s/50s taking it's place. There are subtle but noticeable reductions in the size of food on offer. It's an effective cost saving strategy, and although there's less value there, it does give you space for more things I guess. A big difference for me is an attempt to heat the plates to keep the pizzas warmer for longer. They still get cold quickly, but that's probably due to the marble tables. Overall, if you can spend £30 per person on pizzas, you've found the best place.

Very slow service hardly any one in restaurants took so long and need fix toilets only one toilets every one to use in restaurant

Buzzing restaurant and fantastic service from Ashley who was brilliant throughout our meal and very calm under pressure. Delicious white pizza with mushrooms from the new menu, hope to get back there ASAP!

What a fantastic service ethos! All the staff are so knowledgeable and engaged. The flavours of the pizza pollo forza and calabrese are outstanding. But the real strength is the engagement of the staff. First rate.

Fantastic service, scrummy food - and the personal touch. We visited on 13 February and we’re seated at the rear of the restaurant. The greeter was super friendly and really welcomed us nicely. The food and drinks were gorgeous as normal, esp the Peroni reserve and the ginger and blackberry sparkle. We usually choose food to share and we had a couple of starters and mains between us. The server really added the personal touch by requesting that the pizza be split between two plates so we could just enjoy without juggling things around. Paying special attention like that makes all the difference - we never asked for that but little touches really do delight customers. Thank you pizza express for going the extra mile - you probably didn’t even think twice about it but it left a really positive memory for us. We had: mushroom arancini and chillichurri dough balls, duo (half and half) pizza (fungi and spicy chicken) and pollo pesto pasta. All absolutely delicious.

My lovely lady and I popped in this hony owned chain, two, well one and a half pizzas (I had the one with a little salad in the middle so minus the dough) and a glass of apple juice £30 wowowow servers were as per usual polite, friendly and some what attentive, avoid this place if you value money, if you have tons of cash avoid this place, go to Topps in mcr £15 p/p genius,

The “Duo “ Romana was very nice but one of our party ordered the leggara which should come on the same light crispy base , it was very stodgy and unpleasant, when we complained we saw the young waitress take it up to the manageress who in the distance shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes , the manager came across and argued / explained that they’ve changed the style of it ( although the menu still described it as being on the Romans base ) , the toilets were also in pretty poor condition, shame as Pizza express is a regular haunt of ours

Absolute joke! Been coming here for 20 years, first ever takeaway and ordered dough balls (and plenty of pizza (£70). Garlic butter was a thimble full! Asked politely for anymore and was told it was an extra 75p for another thimble! Ordered 5 as we had 36 dough balls. Was advised it was company policy now. Picture of garlic butter to follow…..

We had a lovely birthday meal, our waitress 'Mia' was great; really attentive and couldn't do enough for us (and only her first week working for Pizza Express), well done Mia. Would recommend and we will visit again soon.

Poor service and under staffed. An hour after finishing starters cleared table and then further wait for pizzas. Seem to prioritise delivery orders and not enough staff serving.

The staff where grate there was a young lad managing tonight and he was amazing polite and had the patience of a saint and the deserts where amazing but unfortunately thats where it ends the dough balls where dry and the pizza was well below par which is a shame to say because normal it is AMAZING im not sure if its because they where bust with both customers eating in and the obnoxious and frankly rude deliveroo drivers but it doesn't excuse the fact that water ran of the pizza as you tried to eat it.

OK, it's a little Pizza Express in a small Cheshire town, but the pizza calabrese! My god! WOW! I've eaten pizza all over Italy, but the calabrese here is STUNNING. Totally authentic and tasty to the Nth degree. Respect to the pizza chef...amazing authenticity. Most Northern European calabresi are bland and uninspiring. Not this! Fabulous.

It makes me really sad to give a bad review but our experience was really one you wouldn't recommend to anyone. We arrived to be told food would be an hour from ordering. We had to stand at the door for a few minutes while some tables were cleared and I felt there wasn't really a good place to stand as it was so busy. There were tables full of fed up looking customers and after a while we came to the conclusion that the take away and Deliveroo part of the business was being prioritised over the diners. It was hard to get the staff over as they were clearly busy and quite possibly short of people due to covid etc so they were avoiding eye contact with us when we wanted to get the bill or ask a question. The staff who came over were polite without a doubt but no one apologised for the long wait and when I flagged someone down to ask for a clean fork (mine had food on) they happily got me another but I would have liked a 'sorry'. Our table was sticky and our food was OK but not generous. One of the GF Pizzas had a good two inches of dry pizza crust around the edge and the topping was sort of in a circle in the middle. We didn't complain because the staff were probably doing their best in difficult circumstances and lacklustre service is rarely the fault of those who are front of house. The thing was, we would have happily stayed for a dessert and a hot drink and spent considerably more if our table had been properly cleaned and if the service hadn't taken so long. The Deliveroo person was striding up and down the restaurant and the general ambience was busy busy busy, extremely loud and stressful so we chose to leave as soon as we could. It's sad because we are a vegan and a GF vegan and your menu provides us with choices we struggle to get elsewhere. We'd love it if someone took these points on board and we could come back to find it improved.

Really good pizza calabrese. No nonsense; just good tasting lunchtime, well-cooked puglian pizza. Don't miss it.

Staff were amazing hence the 3 stars, food was awful! Had the vegan diabolo and it was soggy in the middle and pretty flavourless considering I asked for extra chillies.

Not much could have been better. Got what we expected from a Pizza Express, but with the added bonus of good friendly service…not something we have experienced consistently in the last few days whilst on holiday…well done!

Ate in, was very quiet (despite it being BH and gorgeous sunny weather). Standard fare but do non- uniformed staff really need to keep coming in/out of the premises, especially at the moment?

We popped into Pizza Express to place an order for 4 pizzas & dough balls x2. They said they would be ready in half an hour. We arrived back to be told another 5 minutes, when order arrived there was no dough balls so another wait. We did receive 4 bottles of coke. Unfortunately on opening to eat toppings where lacking & salad consists of more than leaves.

Excellent takeaway and serviceWe called in during lockdown for takeaway, having not eaten from pizza express in a while. We were really pleased with the food, the range of options and system of picking up. Everything felt safe from a COVID point of view. On top of this the manager kindly emailed the details of the artist of some art work on the wall. We would recommend.

We had a lovely meal out, we were served by a lovely waiter (so sorry we didn’t get your name). He was super friendly and attentive even though there were some very big tables in there (and one of them was a very loud table). Food came quickly and was hot, no complaints at all with the food. We ordered the dough balls and cheesy garlic bread for starters. For main we had pollo pesto and the vegetarian cannelloni.

Birthday night out with friends. I ordered a vegan pizza which looked really appetising on the menu. What I got was salad leaves on a pizza base. Supposed to have aubergine, sun dried tomatoes, humus, chili's and more, all of which was in short supply. Lots of salad leaves to cover the lack of anything substantial atop the pizza base. I made a complaint but the waiter couldn't be bothered to come back to me. Jaw dropping pizz-a-poor service and the quality of the food is an absolute joke. My first and last visit to pizza express, Macclesfield or anywhere else for that matter. In total it cost £26 for a single cow turd of a pizza and 2 beers (£7 a bottle). Absolute amateurs when it comes to food and service but they've got ripping off customers down to a tee. Shameful.

Went in for a quick lunch date with the hubby, not many people in even though it was a Saturday. The pizza was lovely and very filling the waitress was very attentive and we managed to find an online deal so got 25% off the bill which is always a result.

Valentine's day meal, good service dealing with 7 of us. I Always get the superfood salad and it's always delicious however slightly expensive for what it is. Really great at adapting their pasta for my friend with no complaints. Altogether lovely evening

I came into Pizza Express today for lunch with a friendWe were greeted by a hostess who was lovely and on top of her game and sat us down at our table, we were then greeted by a waitress who took our drinks and food order and all was going well the food came promptly and everything was nice on that side.the waitress then came back and took our plates this is the last we saw of her as she then went on her break.During our meal we had no check back at all, the waitress who served us hardly spoke to us other than taking our order and taking our plates.We were the only 2 customers in the venue at the time so why staff weren't doing there job raises questions.After taking our plates we were sat for 45 minutes waiting for someone to come and give us the bill.I then took it upon myself to go and ask the man at the till for our bill (I assume he was a manager). I explained we had been waiting 45 minutes for the bill and he didn't seem bothered. His customer service was terrible as was the waitress who served us. Considering your'e listed at No.5 on TripAdvisor, and we were the only paying customers in the venue at the time you expect more. I also work in hospitality so understand the pressures but it was middle of the day and the place was empty, it simply was not good enough and although the food was great and the hostess was lovely this is 1 of the reasons i can't see myself returning and why i give it 2*

Popped in with the family for an early Sunday evening supper - just a starter, classic pizzas and a salad. All was good. The prices aren't cheap, and we wonder how they will cope with the new competition from The Picturedrome? We had a 40% discount voucher for the food (from a supermarket bought pizza), which made the prices reasonable. But all in all a classic PE experience - it was fine

We went to pizza express for a bite to eat at lunchtime . We were greeted by Will and seated straight away . The calzone was excellent and the lasagna tasty . The service was great and Will was very attentive. Would recommend highly.

Went here for lunch one Wednesday, we had booked a table but there was no need as the place had only just opened when we got there. A young lad greeted us and we were offered a choice of tables. The food and drinks arrived in good time, but we had to wait AGES for someone to bring us the bill. ( I believe we would have had a wait if we wanted to order more drinks). Apart from that though, not bad.

I have been going to Pizza Express in Macclesfield for many years and really enjoyed the experience and food until tonight. Unfortunately Deliveroo have moved in and wow what an absolute car crash of a place. Clearly the priority is on pizza deliveries at the massive detriment of the dining experience. Deliveroo drivers and bikers constantly coming in and out of the front door and massive waits for restaurant diners. Clearly the business model has moved to take away. Do not bother going here anymore as the waiters will not tend to you and deliver pizzas to drivers or people ordering take aways. Truely horrifying experience. A real shame. I will not return

Have been going here a long time and it's normally consistent with food and service but not this time. Arrived to a quiet restaurant which is unusual. Waited 5 mins and the staff ignored us until a 'gentleman' who I think was the manager shouted from halfway up the restaurant 'just sit anywhere' it didn't make us feel very welcome or valued! Young lad who served us was very good though. Food was nice. The staff generally didn't seem interested or very observant. We were the last to leave and nobody said thanks or goodbye. Won't rush back!

This chain serves cheap ingredients [pasta, bread, tomato puree, rubbery cheese and economy sausage toppings on standard pizza bases and lumps of dough] for silly prices. Nearly £7 for less than a pint of half decent lager ! The service was no better either. We bought the set menu and were charged for individual items from the standard menu. Also waited ages with hungry kids when the place wasn't even a quarter full. Why any discerning person would ever want to patronise this rip-off chain is a complete mystery.

Called in for a meal with the wife using the Tesco Clubcard Vouchers towards the cost. Food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and polite. Will definitely be back with or without vouchers.

Called in last night on our way back from a 2 day trip to the Belfry for a golf break.

Today is me and Imogen date today so the drinks and starters are really nice and the pizzas was delicious and the puddings was really delicious and then the score was given is 15 out of 10.

We have just come back from a really nice evening at Pizza Express Macclesfield to celebrate our son’s 17th birthday. Our waiter Shane was great, he really did everything he could to make the night right. Despite us arriving around the same time as a large group of 18, our food arrived promptly and nice and hot. Even when the meal ordered didn’t quite suite our son’s taste, it was quickly changed without any fuss. When Shane got called away to collect stock, he handed our care over to Charlotte who was equally attentive and efficient.

Came in spur of the moment on a Saturday about 5pm. Was told they were fully booked and could not do us a table if 5. Then as we were leaving they changed their mind and pulled 2 tables together. Took ages to order, get food and pay. Waiter was pleasant but seemed to spend ages talking and taking orders from tables. We were in there far too long, went up to pay at the end, manager said he would of come to table, I laughed and said I need to go, been here far to long. No response from "manager". Will never come back.

We waited around 20 minutes for the starter, I find completely acceptable. Then a 40 minute wait for our main. This was far too long. On top of that one of the waiters was walking too and from the kitchen scratching his eye without washing his hands. Food was great though.

3 of us ordered food only 2 meals arrived. Said it was due to a mix up in the kitchen. Told it would be 5 mins. My wife and daughter finished there main courses and still hadn't arrived. Told them to forget it and they said do you want it as a takeout.

Nothing to write home about really. It's a chain & for fast unstimulating food, it ticks all the boxes.

My daughter and son both love Pizza Express and me and my husband are fine with it as it is a nice, quick tea. These last times we have been to Pizza Express, the service has improved beyond belief.

Came for tea on a Saturday night. Place wasn't too busy but the service was very slow. Menu choices seemed limited a lot of things that use to be on (rustichella) are not there anymore. Pizzas were a little burnt on the bottom but tasted ok. Quite expensive for what we had.

Our waitress, I think her name was Ann-lee, was really rude, didn't seem to be interested in taking our order, disappeared for long periods of time. We were told she was a manager which was shocking as you'd expect them to lead by example. The food was ok, but we expect consistent service from somewhere like Pizza Express.

Walked in only to be turned away. Apparently they couldn’t cope with more people, and there was already a 45 minute wait for food for those at a table. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was half empty! Clearly need more staff.

Frankie and all her staff tonight have been very pleasant, friendly and the service and food was excellent. Highly recommended

The service is good in the early evening. It was very busy. Had the staple, Margarita, it was wonderful, the best pizza we have had in ages. That even includes a week in Italy a month ago! Topped of with a glass of red. Just what we wanted.

We have visited a couple of times over past few months as we get regular discount off the food bill. Staff have always been pleasant and helpful & service has been good. Food is OK. Personally I wouldn’t visit if we didn’t get the discount as I do not think it is good value for money, if we had to pay full whack for the food. I heard a while back from family members who visited Pizza Express, who were given info by their waiter, that the pasta dishes and also some other dishes were not made onsite and were brought in. I cannot Warrant the cost of these dishes knowing this and have never ordered any of these dishes because of this and have always ordered pizza, as these are made fresh.

We really enjoy going for tea here, and it’s our go-to meal out. I’d say make sure you never pay full price, vouchers are always available online and they offer really good student discount. Staff are all really helpful and friendly.

Upon arriving service was good but then no one came to take our order or drinks for almost 15 minutes. Food was all hot and tasty but a bit spicy. Very clean as well.

We went for lunch,the place wasn't busy and was nice and clean. I had the bolognese which was nothing special but pleasant enough, what spoilt it was that it was only warm. The problem was probably that it was served in a cold dish. The non alcoholic drink I had was lovely strawberry Sicilian lemonade.

Lasagna very sloppy needed a spoon to eat it. bit slow only 2 party's in the place. Waitress spilt contents of the olives down my leg this is not good will not go again

Gotta love the pizza's here - always hot and fresh. The vouchers that you can get for Pizza Express make it much more reasonable for a quick lunch or dinner with friends - not sure I would pay full price! The staff are always helpful and friendly. I find the drinks expensive but the staff are also happy to bring a jug of tap water to your table if required.

The restaurant has improved the seating adding in boot's and tidying up the decoration in general. The service was good and the staff friendly and helpful.

As always great food at a reasonable price. Our server tonight however made the evening. My daughter turned 7 today and a great fuss was made over her. Will definitely return.

Had a voucher for a birthday free bottle so went on a Friday early evening. Wasn't too busy ordered children's pizza starer of prawns which were good a pizza and chicken pesto pasta. Seem to be a mistake with bringing our mains so was a delay. Manager was very apologetic. Other staff were a bit slow. Pizza was good, pasta wasn't as nice as previous visits.

We visited pizza express for our tea last Friday and I have to be Honest its proberly one of the noisiest restaurants I've ever been to, the building itself is all open seating from one end to the other and it has low ceilings, this meant that the noise level was excruciating , we felt that the waiters and waitresses should have ear plugs as part of thier standard uniform as we couldn't imagine working an shift there without going home feeling slightly deaf !

We have been coming to Pizza Express for a few years, since our children were small, visited on Saturday as an end of GCSE treat but came away disappointed. The menu has hardly changed in the years we've been visiting, out of pasta bolognese, hardly any cheese on one pizza, had to ask for pizza cutters, service uninspiring, overall Pizza Express needs to do better if it is to hold on to customers once their children reach teenage years!

We booked a table for our daughter's 18th birthday as a surprise. 5 of her friends arrived 10 minutes before we took our daughter on the pretence of a family meal.

This is a branch of a national restaurant chain. Ordered a hot pasta dish that was served on a cold plate and the some of the penne pasta had been allowed to bur on the bottom of the pan - not impressed.

Recently our extended family went out to pizza express to have a meal, catch up e.t.c. 4 kids included.

The new Pizza Express "Giardiniera" pizza is extremely good.

This was the first time in this branch and we were not disappointed. 3 vegans in the party and the food was lovely. Clean setting, lovely service and great food. Only niggle was the music which was a little too loud for comfort. We will be back.

Visited last week for joint family birthday celebration - my wife's 60th and grandson's 3rd. Chose Pizza Express as caters for all ages and there were three generations of our family there. The staff were excellent from setting the table (we provided balloons), prompt service...

Four of us visited on a Saturday lunch time. We’d not booked but there were plenty of tables available.

I visited here with my friend and his son following a trip to see the local football team. We had endured the coldness of a November outside but the warm welcome we received soon made us feel we had made the right choice. We arrived about 20 minutes before our booked time but we were shown to our table with the minimum of fuss. Our drinks order followed promptly and we were soon tucking into our starters of Dough balls, Bruschetta and Garlic Bread. All three were very tasty. We didn’t have long to wait for our main courses either, even though the place was buzzing with fellow diners. Two portions of Lasagne plus the Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni were just as good as the starters. Service was polite and efficient. Well done everyone. We enjoyed our visit so much that we are planning a December visit to another local Pizza Express.

I like pizza express and go for the Cesar Salad. this is my second visit in the last 2 months and No Cesar Salad.....unbelievable. Very disappointed, Once is unfortunate twice is terrible. there won't be a third.

The Macclesfield Pizza Express serves good Food, the staff is friendly and attentive and the Location is neat and nice. No surprises here if you know Pizza Express from other Locations.

We visited in march 2017 three of us and the food and drinks were ok and the staff were nice but the food was a bit expensive.

We have been here many times but I felt compelled to write another review as today (29th Sept) was the best restaurant experience we've ever had. We decided to have an impromptu lunch with some friends but they were running late so I was trying to keep our 3 year old occupied whilst we waited for them. The restaurant wasn't busy so we had a walk to the kitchen area to watch the chef working. He was brilliant with our daughter. He engaged her in conversation showed off his dough throwing skills and then gave her a board with flour and dough to play with!! Literally the best customer service we've ever experienced. He was really charming and friendly and an asset to the restaurant! Food was delicious as always and the children's menu was excellent value. We'll definitely be back.
