Pizza Express in Hastings

We dined at Pizza Express as we get 25% off our pizza bill by being Odeon Cinema Limitless Members. So, not only did we get an encouraging discount, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience, the food and wine were delicious and with warm service. Thank you.

Myself and my partner came here today for what we thought would be a nice lunch but instead received undercooked pizza and cold dough balls. And due to this having an upset stomach … would not recommend

Went to pizza express Hastings last night. We ordered four basic pizzas and over an hour later we were told they would be with us in ten minutes . I dared question why it took so long only to be told by a rude member of staff ( I think she was the manager) but not sure can't you see how busy we are , when in all honesty the restaurant was about half full . We asked for the bill and left . No gesture of goodwill was offered . Really bad experience and I won’t be going back .

I’ve had bad experiences here before (slow service, warm wine, clearly out of their depth staff etc), but decided to give it another go as my last visit had been in 2022, so hey, maybe they’ve improved, right? Wrong! Painfully slow service, yet again. The staff were obviously overwhelmed, even though the place was not entirely full (there were two empty tables behind us). An hour without a main course and when we asked when our food would be turning up and pointed out that an hour was too long to wait for a pizza, we were told by a rude and hostile member of staff (I think the manager, but not sure), have you seen how busy we are, we’re doing our best! Dare I suggest that the food taking forever to come out was connected to the many Deliveroo, Just Eat etc riders coming in to pick up delivery orders. The focus seemed to be on these orders over the people in the restaurant. Anyhoo, we left hungry, cancelling the pizzas and asking for the bill, as we had somewhere else to be. Won’t be returning. This place is a joke that only survives due to the lack of competition in Hastings town centre.

Slow not empathetic. Totally overwhelmed, if you can’t handle the traffic don’t open the doors. I have 1 and a half hours without main course with two young kids. Service very poor. My wife loves this place. Not coming again

Booked at table for 6pm..had to move table to small ..2nd table air conditioning was blowing out freezing cold had to move again..slow to take drink and food order..they forgot first round of drinks..and also the 2nd drink.which to be fair was then free..waited 50 mins for food ..only a main ..no one asked if food was ok. If we wanted any more drinks..cleared table and didnt offer us a dessert menu. Resturant wasn't busy so god knows what it's like when it is. Shocking service.

Absolute awful service, Made the manager (assuming she was) aware that we wanted to sit outside got handed the menus and was told someone will be with us shortly 30 minutes went by still haven't placed an order walked in and said we want to order food whilst the manager was just standing there and was told the waiter will be out in a minute. Order placed along with drinks another 30 minutes went by and still no drink in sight had enough of waiting as my new born started to stir was hoping for some food before she needed to be fed walked in and said we haven't had any drinks that wee ordered 30 mins ago and to not bother bringing the food out as we were going elsewhere. Also like to mention that there was about 5 tables of people sitting Including myself so they weren't exactly busy, one and only time I bother. Didn't even get an apology off the waiter or the manager disgusting service! Would not recommend this place to anyone!!

I've never used pizza express i don't like pizza so get your facts right

Flustered staff and restaurant half empty so wasn’t even busy staff told me he was stressed not my problem sadly I’m a customer paying to eat . Kids pasta was hard and cold after waiting 45mins for food . Mac and cheese portion size was same as a starter not a main . My Lasagna was burnt on edges . Sadly dissatisfied Tesco do better ready meals …

Busy lunchtime service however staff still very professional and attentive. Lovely food cooked to perfection by the team in the kitchen.

Ordered two pizzas from Pizza Express as my usual place is currently on holiday. Who knows what is going on...pizzas chewy....poor levels of toppings with big noticeable gaps...cheese non existent.....dough just bland. Not properly cut up and then placed on the most odd cardboard logo thing underneath so clearly then hard to recut at home. Redesigning the pizza box? Talk about excessive and useless packaging....you're not getting the basics right but packaging you are focusing on.....and very expensive for the mess that it was. Dough balls cold and I'm literally 5mins walk away. So many have closed and I wouldn't be back unless they change a lot. Delivered on time at least....

Delivery man with no order Restaurant taking no resposibiloty

Came for my birthday with my husband and daughter whilst visiting Hastings for the week. The service was incredible, we both ordered new starters that had only just come on the menu, the chef delivered them to our table and said it was his first time making them and they were cooked fantastically. The waitress (manager?) was lovely and really accommodating to a 2 year old during lunch service. Would definitely recommend and come back!

this was absolutely terrible! when the driver took them out of his box, they were laying on their side and not flat, which meant all the toppings had slid off the pizza base. it was also semi cold. I will not be ordering from them again. the driver then went in to ask me where the just eat code was. I've never been asked for a code before so had no clue what he was talking about!

Nice food but the service is so slow. I had to wave to get served and stand near the till for 5 minutes after requesting the bill to pay.

Great pizza express. We were worried initially but it turned out to be nice. We didn’t book a table, and we were seated immediately. Very friendly staff, delicious pizza (not soggy at all), cooked perfectly.

I am living in hastings and i went to the hastings pizza express around 8:30 pm and the one of staff member told me they don’t have enough staff so they didn’t allow me to seat and after that i went to the Eastbourne pizza express cornfield road and i reached there around 9:30 and they did warm welcome as a customer and gives us very nice service with testy food and good customer service. I appreciate staff in Eastbourne pizza express.

We decided to try out a local pizza restaurant and settled on Pizza Express. The food was exactly what we expected - reheated pre-prepared food but still of an above average quality. The service however left a lot to be desired. One warning sign we should have heeded was that all outside tables were vacant but still had the remnants of previous clientelle's plates and glasses etc. It appeared that none had been cleared - hard to believe that 6 tables had all left at the same time. We attempted to use the Pizza Express App only to find that the QR code at the table was not recognised. Undaunted we manually entered our location only to find that the table number was also not recognised. A trip inside was met with indifference. Several staff noted our presence but failed to come over. Eventually we caught their attention and they presented us with menus and said they would be back soon to take our order. After 20 minutes we went back inside, and again after a long delay managed to get someone's attention. They took the order, and we asked if all the items we ordered were part of their all-day meal deal of 3 courses for £24.99 each, and were assured that everything on the menu was covered. After a further wait of around 20 minutes, the drinks arrived, with the waiting staff member explaining that they had just found our order in their pocket, and they kindly apologised for the wait, saying that the drinks were now complimentary. The starters arrived in reasonable time, and we asked for two more forks when cleared, as the container on the table now only held knives. No serviettes were in sight, either in the container or presented with the starter or main. The mains arrived after around 30 minutes and we ordered desert at the same time, asking that the bill come with them. We had to again ask for more forks. Eventually the deserts arrived with the bill. We dismissed the idea of a coffee and waited for the waiting staff to return with the card machine. After around another 20 minutes we went inside to pay. The bill showed a price in excess of £60.00. When we asked about this we were told that the deal only applied if ordered via the app. After explaining that this was not working the staff member sought assistance from their manager, another delay of some 10-15 minutes. They returned to advise that only certain items were included in the deal, and what we had ordered was excluded. At this point we settled the bill as seen and did not quibble further. We left satisfied with the quality of the food, as it was presented well and was better than we had anticipated. However, we did struggle with the concept of 'Pizza Express' as the service was slow, ill-informed, poorly trained, and left us feeling that there was a distinct lack of direction. For context there were 4 tables occupied at the time we arrived, and other customers were stating their dissatisfaction at how slow the service was. They also mentioned their frustration at not being able to get the app to work for them. All in all a simple heating of food via a salamander, with a couple of drinks and a cold desert took over 2 hours to complete. Perhaps 'Pizza Eventually' would be a better branding. The product they provide is good, the Customer Service, training, and delivery is poor. We will continue to visit other Pizza Express venues but unless things change, we will be avoiding the Hastings branch and will recommend that family and friends do the same.

Starters was OK main was cold and pasta was hard won't be going again very disappointed

Had been told good things about this place , however the food was not cooked properly we had carbonara (well that's what it was supposed to be ) but it was pasta with a slice of ham chopped and a table spoon of white sauce 🤮🤮 The portion size was disgusting and barely covered the bottom of the bowl and for the price certainly not worth AVOID AT ALL COSTS DISGUSTING 😡😡😡😡😡

Pizzas were delicious but we waited nearly an hour with 2 x young children. The restaurant wasn't busy so I couldn't see any reason for the slow service. Waitress was pleasant but very slow. I feel the name is misleading. There was certainly no 'Express' about the experience.

A disappointing experience: although we had a nice waiter it took a very long time for the food to arrive. The pizza I ordered with anchovies for £2.50 contained 3 barely distinguishable pieces of anchovies. My table companion's food was also bad: the pasta was in a very watery tomato sauce. Still, we spent £41 including 2 drinks. Never again in this bad pizzeria.

My food was freezing cold and was all over the inside of the box

Employees didn't take us minors seriously, even though we were respectful, food took a long time, small pizza and extremely expensive prices for small portions.

We had a small family get together of 9 people and the staff coped admirably. The food was on the table quickly and hot. Our server even split the bill so that each knew exactly what they owed. Good people and good food made a great night.

I appreciate that it was a Friday evening, but with less than 20 people in the restaurant, the pizza took nearly an hour to arrive. I could see everyone was busy and training of staff was taking place, but I felt they was concentrated on getting out the deliveries rather than customers, which a few complained for having to wait so long for their food. After eating Pizza Express for over 30 years in London, it was quite a disappointment eating at Hastings, our new home.

Let me honest the food was super tasty smells yammy and looks delicious.but by my self is the waitress hygiene more important.i been served by a skinny lady .it's a shame to mention this but her nails was really dirty black I couldn't eat my food tbh. So whats the point if I'm served a delicious food by this kind of (hands)

Visited on Thursday evening,the place was virtually empty, but food took 45 minutes to be served due to the constant stream of delivery drivers coming in to collect online orders. No atmosphere at all. One person doing the pizzas one person in kitchen one person serving and one noisily assembling boxes. Would not recommend.

Twice in 10 days waiting over 30 mins for our order to be taken. What the heck????

The restaurant forgot to give the delivery driver my pizza. He turns up without it and tells me to ring the restaurant. I rang the restaurant, they confirmed the pizza was still there and they forgot to hand it over. The driver tells me he can’t help and the restaurant tells me JustEat refuses to help or resend a driver at the restaurants cost. So now I’m trying to get a refund for the food I did not receive.

Its fine. Expensive these days. Good pizza's, ok service. My daughter fell off her chair as the leg broke. She wasn't doing anything she should not. The staff didn't seem surprised

Service was horrendous. Booked a table for 6, got there just before and stood at the door for a couple minutes waiting to be seated while the manager was just standing there on the phone. I would of just sat down myself after waiting but all of the tables were messy and unprepared with cups and cutlery. Once finally sat down and given menu's, 20 MINUTES!! to take drinks. I've worked in restaurants before, you take drinks as soon as possible to get customers to stay. I would of walked out today if it wasnt my sons birthday and he wanted to eat at pizza express as part of his birthday wish. While waiting, the manager was just standing around on the phone again, looking at the till and talking to staff. I saw no customer service or helping her staff at all. So when we finally got a server to take our order I made sure to give the whole order as I werent sure when I would see them again. Our food arrived 20 minutes later. I have to say that the chefs are due alot of praise. The food was amazing and with an open kitchen you can tell how hard they were working. Once we got our food we were asked how the food was twice, once by our server and one by the manager. I normally don't mind this as it ls part of the service but where were our service when we were waiting. Basically the store is only as good as the manager and she just needs to be retrained or shadowed by someone higher up.

Amaizing restaurant with so professional waiters! We made a littlel trip in Hastings Beach and we decided to eat before going home. The food was amaizing and so tasty, the waiters so nice and professionals and they recommend us the best food. Perfect for famillies and couples or friends! Thank you! I ordered a takeaway which came so fast and still so warm. The best part was the note that got written on my box which was the best part! So good!

I went to Pizza Express in Hastings for a birthday lunch with my friend. The food was absolutely delicious, the two gentlemen who served us were really attentive and friendly. We stayed ages and weren't made to feel they wanted us to leave.

Have ordered from Pizza Express in different areas before but have never had service this poor before. Food took an hour and a half to get here, and I called the restaurant twice to get an update but they didn't pick up at all. Food was okay and still warm when it arrived but did not expect to wait so long. Also, if you're thinking of getting the pesto dough balls, don't bother - £7 for 5 dough balls? Such a rip-off. Won't be ordering again anytime soon

Absolutely appalling- ordered food at 6.30, told it was arriving at 7.10, at 7.10 told it was arriving at 7.40, then told 8.10. App stuck on “preparing your order” from 7.40 until 21.10. Tried numerous times to phone restaurant- went to voicemail- no calls back (even now 20 hours later!!). Food arrived at 9.20 as I was going to bed so I refused to accept. Just Eat deeply unhelpful. £30 well spent to persuade me never to use Just Eat or Pizza Express Hastings ever again. Abysmal Customer Service.

Visited today and the restaurant was very busy and clearly short staffed, but the service was amazing. Despite the fact the 3 staff members ( including the manager) were run off their feet serving tables, clearing tables, getting drinks, seating new customers they were all so polite and friendly. Food was served quickly and was lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit

These pizzas were not the same quality as the restaurants and worse than the cook at home ones. You're better off buying from your local supermarket.

Pizza Express Hastings. Too good to go order £4.95 for 3 scone sized identical bits garlic bread with a bit of cheese. About £1.50 worth. What an absolute con. Freshly cooked just to satisfy the minimum starter. Absolutely avoid. I'll be deleting the app for sure.

The pizza base was cold as though it had been prepared much earlier then toppings applied later and put under grill. Waiting staff pleasant but too busy to stop and ask if our food was OK .

Absolutely amazing afternoon i had this tuesday, was served by a handsome young man in black, the food was lovely, and despite it being busy and short staffed the service was brilliant. I loved my food, i loved the waiter 😉 and i loved the atmosphere. Will be returning!! What an amazing tuesday evening

Dont go if you are hungry went wed 6th dec 2023 after 6pm i thought maybe 5mins after the customer sits down you ask what would you like too drink never got that from the waitress we waited about 25mins till me got asked thst question then we gave our order thst was about another 50mins till me got served our starter and few mins later our main then i fancied a pudding about half a hr later we were still waiting for pudding and pay but luckily ny partner gave her order in for the kids meal pudding while i was in the toilet i came out of the toilet and saw the waitress i asked for a pudding she said 2 secs then 20 mins later they came back with my sons pudding no sign of the lady coming back too my pudding order them.we found the lady waitress and asked for the bill. Paid no tip and left disapointed

Ordered 2x meal bundles that includes a pizza and choice of starter. Neither starters came with order (calamari dip in bag but no calamari) called pizza express 4 times with no answer! Oh and just opened my pizza box whilst writing this review and I think it’s been drop kicked across the kitchen. Wonderful!

I've just had my daughter's 6th Birthday party at pizza express, a pizza making party and it was absolutely amazing!. Courtney and his team there today were so helpful and and brilliant with us all. Courtney led the 19 strong group of 5/6 year olds making pizza with fun, creative flare and engaged them the whole time. I fully recommend a pizza party at the Hastings branch. Thank you so so much to everyone there at Pizza express this morning, you were beyond fabulous 👌! Xxx

Lovely evening out with family. Excellent food and service. The manager was exceptional as was the young lady who made the coffees and served the deserts. Will definitely return.

The pizza ordered came as a 10inch. It didn't state the size when ordering but expected more than a kids size pizza for 14.99 - obviously my fault ordering and expecting a larger pizza but won't order again due to size and thinness.

This was a brilliant place for a little lunch time date, I throughly enjoy the service from the members of staff. Instructing me on how to get some free sides! Their house dressing is a delightful dip to have on the side with a slight punch of vinegar which brings out all the flavours on the pizza. I will definitely be coming back again and highly recommend for a nice chill date or family meal. :)

Food was lovely as usual. My only gripe was that as we'd earned freebies via the app we weren't told that we couldn't use tesco vouchers! This wasn't pointed out when ordering and when we tried to pay the waitress didn't know why the vouchers didn't go thru abd had to ask someone. Luckily we had money to cover it but not everyone has!

This is a wetherspoon is better kinda review. For a pizza place, the pizza had a very basic taste to it. I know I shouldn't expect much, but it just felt kinda basic.

We requested that the kids pizzas be cut into slices, but they did not cut.

Been a while since I visited Pizza Express and could see the differences in the food. I had a Negra pizza - the hole in the middle where the ‘salad’ (just green leaves with a bit of sauce on) is MUCH bigger now! - meaning much less pizza. My sons pasta meal is no longer crispy on top - that used to make it fab.

Pizza was soggy and undercooked, missing the extra meat topping I ordered, and the dough balls were cold and tough as if they'd be left out for a while. Completely inedible
