Pizza Express in Brighton and Hove

Had a pleasant early evening supper at my favourite Pizza Express. I still live in Brighton and was here the first week it opened in 1984! In fact I was the same age as our waiter who was also 21! :) We ordered a bottle of Argentinian Keltehue Malbec which was so flavourful with a lovely finish on the palate. We started with the tomato and basil bruschetta which was lovely and garlicky. I opted for a pizza with a rocket and parmesan salad and my partner ordered the chicken Milanese salad - we shared the cheesecake dessert which was delicious and finished with coffee. The only negative was the pizza could have been a little crispier on the underneath but apart from that, a very lovely evening. Obviously, we will be back!

Went for a meal took 20 minutes for us to get a servers attention to place orders for even drinks. It wasn’t that busy so we were a bit confused. An hour in they told us they forgot to put our food order in so we ended up getting our food almost 2 hours in. Was a very bad experience. There were two male servers that were blatantly messing around and it wasn’t a bother to us but other customers on the table beside us pointed it out and had an issue with it. I only mentioned that so maybe in the future there will be better customer service.

Amazing pizzas, great member deals, and a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere

Dirty uncleared tables all over the restaurant not cleared whilst we had are meal . Service was poor and menu now far more expensive than our previous visits.

Food was delicious but service was incredibly slow...this could be down to the lack of people working there, the poor woman that served us was rushed off of her feet and did her best.

Lovely staff and the food was fab. The acoustics aren't great so it was a bit intense for my son, who has autism, but overall it was a good place to eat as a family

Service and food were second to none, making sure that Gluten free food was served on black plates so you know it definitely is.

Thank you to the friendly & helpful waitress who served us on a very wet and horrible afternoon! She was really kind and chatty, the food was lovely and it was a nice casual atmosphere. I appreciate that they were unfazed by our group of noisy, excited children after meeting Santa!! :)

Food great and lovely staff. No waiting, bathrooms clean what more can you ask for. The staff were attentive and cleared away promptly.

It was a busy lunch and restaurant was full with people queuing, but team made it feel relaxed.

Early evening meal before a gig. Nice enough food. Service was OK. Very quiet.

Food was amazing. However, the starters and mains took too long over an hour waiting and all they said was we're too busy at the moment. The restaurant wasn't full not even half. The food was pretty good as usual by the way.

I never write reviews but I had to review here. Had a booking yesterday for 2 people, arrived on time and then had to wait a long time to be seated, bearing in mind the restaurant was practically empty. The chef noticed that we had been waiting for a while and told us to sit down and he would bring us some menues. We went to sit down and the waiter then stopped us and asked us who told us to sit down. We explained that the chef told us to sit down and he seemed offended. Whilst deciding what we were going to order, we could visibly see wait staff ignoring other customers in favour of joking around. Moreover, a couple sat behind us became, justifiably, more annoyed as we were served before them, even though they had been in the restaurant longer than us. I cannot complain about the food, the chef was excellent. As we went to pay, we decided to leave a tip but accidentally left off a 0 off the tip on the card reader and didn’t realise until too late. We would have attempted to rectify the issue had the server not 5 seconds later then taken our receipt to the chef and openly mocked our mistaken tip whilst we were not even a meter away from them. A lovely meal spoiled by appalling staff.

Had a lovely lunch out, the food was okay but Sarah (waitress) made it amazing. What a lovely attitude, demeanour and shining smile. Thank you Sarah x (ps give her a raise!)

Great venue to sit and watch the world go by

We came here 14 of us for a hen do last weekend, Zoe has been great from start to end with communication and menus. Even the chef made dough balls willies which made the brides night!! So hilarious Thank you so much for lovely food and service!!

So good! The pasta was great and our server Lola was so lovely and polite and went above and beyond for us when our student discount wouldn’t load!

Brilliant food and service! Tried a restaurant down the road first however the service was so slow, after waiting for drinks for 30 minutes we left! Good old Pizza Express always a winner. The manager was ‘on it’ as soon as we arrived, quick excellent service and top pizza! Winner

What amazing service we received last night. Due to roadworks my daughter and I arrived into Brighton late and with very little time to eat before our show. Zoe picked up the phone to me twice, firstly she confirmed that they will keep our table and the second time she allowed me to order our pizza's over the phone to save time when we got there. She was so welcoming when we arrived and then sorted out an issue I was having with a voucher ensuring that the bill was paid long before we needed to leave. Lovely pizza and very happy us... we made our show with 15 mins to spare. Thank you!!!!

Came in for an amazing lunch with friends! We were seated by Felix and promptly served. Rachel guided us though the menu and provided recommendations. Both Rachel and Felix were so accommodating and welcoming, we felt at ease. They are both a credit to your company! Thank you so much for having us!

Dining in is often pleasant here. The actual pizza itself is delicious, it’s always cooked to perfection, finished with a sensible amount of toppings, and is never too hard or too soft. Regarding service, it can on occasion take a while to get served, so you may end up waiting a while. However, staff are all very friendly, usually happy to assist with allergens, and take your order quickly. Waiting time for the food to come out is usually about 15-20 minutes in the majority of my visits, which is satisfactory. They deliver your drinks orders first so you can sip whilst waiting. It’s also usually very quiet inside, not that there aren’t many people, because it is often packed, but it is such a spacious and airy restaurant that actually it is never loud. The toilets are down a staircase to a lower level of the restaurant, what might be the basement. Sometimes I have noticed the stairs and toilet floors can be wet, but there are usually wet floor signs out.

Pizza Express FM just doesn’t feel like it matches the environment - very vibey street. Food and service are great.

The restaurant itself was nice and the service was excellent, but as a group we weren't overly impressed with the choice of pizza / toppings on offer. Compared to the similar chains we felt there was better choice elsewhere.

The food at Pizza Express today was decent enough but the service was outstanding! Amid a busy Saturday afternoon, our waiter Sarah was extremely friendly and accommodating, cracking jokes and generally creating a lovely experience for our group - she was also really kind to my elderly mum who wasn’t feeling well. The only thing better than good service, is to see someone take pride in their work and Sarah achieved both. Bravo!

Well situated and large dining space which is well laid out. Met an ex-colleague and friend. The waiting team were extremely helpful and friendly and quick to serve. Definitely one of the better pizza restaurant chains and this one is typically Brighton - colourful and friendly.

Waiter was extremely rude and has very irritating attitude while showing tables and getting the payment. We refused giving tips and he said of course no tip and grumble something italian. Not recommended at all.

Rudest chief waitress ever. He has been mean even how the way he is talking then while we are paying check we have refused to pay tips. Then he said “of course “ than he said something Italian to us as of course we did not understand . Probably swearing .Rudest person ever. Just to letting management know. You should take care who you are employing.

Looking for a pizza speciality restaurant in the Lanes? Pizza Express definitely had me stop and stare… We started off with the Hot Honey Dough Balls which was definitely an odd choice as it reminded me more of Asian cuisine. The taste of the dip was like sweet chili sauce but more on the honey taste. The balls were served quite soggy. Carbonara was thick and cheesy! My friend said that this dish had the perfect consistency and the smoky pancetta gave the dish that extra touch! She devoured it quickly. I ordered their Padana pizza which had saltiness from the goat cheese, sweet caramelized onions, red onions, and spinach. I liked how crispy the pizza was and had the perfect amount of cheese. The spinach was really soggy and it felt like it was frozen and thrown on the pizza. Wish they used fresh spinach that was crisped up in the oven instead. This pizza was missing that heat so the chili oil and flakes saved it.

Very nice lunch, with special offers used from the app. Makes the fab food even more affordable.

Although I’ve always had good experiences with the kind and helpful staff at Pizza Express, my recent visit was disappointing. After waiting for a long time for someone to serve us, the guy offered me a table for two in an inconvenient location and with little respect. I don't recommend this brunch at all!

Not impressed. Walked into the restaurant whilst only 4-5 tables were occupied, leaving over 10-15 tables free (approximations). Was told that all the tables were booked and was turned away. I can't imagine all the free tables were booked for the same time..

The staff were great here today, really friendly and went through the menu clearly as I am a ceoliac. Simon in particular was very attentive and spent time talking to my nephew as well. You can see he really cares about good service. Thank you.

Came in today for lunch with my partner. Service was amazing and staff were caring and we were well looked after. Food came fast and was absolutely amazing. Portions were just right. Been here a couple times now and both times we’ve had amazing service. We really felt welcomed from start to finish. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work.

Chloe and Sophia hosted my daughter's party. Both were fab! Attentive and fun.

Arrived at the restaurant and was seating straight away, however was then not approached at all for around 20 minutes. We had to get someone’s attention for our order. Starters came out within 10 minutes but we then had to wait 50 minutes for our mains to come. Food was really good but service was outrageous, it wasn’t busy, and had to ask twice for the bill. The waiter walked away mid conversation when we were trying to pay for the bill. Never normally write reviews this like however the service was just awful.

Just went out of the branch and left In silence. The girl who is serving us was super rude and asking too much till the point i asked my friend who barley speak English to leave because i feel disgusted. If it’s fair enough she will explain how it is. ! 8 years and been coming and going to this place but this time they chose the worst person to serve. !

This is our favourite Pizza Express! We were met by the host on arrival who was friendly and efficient and all the staff were friendly and polite. There was a buzzy atmosphere and our food was great as always.

My family and I have just been to Pizza Express 🍕 and had a wonderful time ..my 2 year old granddaughter was with us and she was so well received...the menu is very interesting and will suit everyone..the service was impeccable 👌 the staff helpful,friendly and very polite..and our food superb..I highly recommend Pizza Express..and the bill..perfect. thank you so much.

Despite the fact that only 4 tables were occupied, we were turned away as they were not accepting walk-ins until 5pm. So we could have booked (by phone or online) to get seated there and then and it would have been fine. Struggling to see the logic…

Always decent food, you know what you are going to get and usually reliable….but the service! BAD and I resent that on a treat day out. No excuse. Lots staff acting unprofessional, chatting, far from attentive. Clearing tables instead of ensuring new customers were ok. Had to ask to place food order and then had to chase drinks twice. Plenty of staff so I can only assume too many! Waiting staff (one) also had an attitude and others had 2 second memory, hence the chasing. Disappointed

Really lovely pizzas and dough balls. Service was helpful when sorting out my vouchers. Only ☹️ was our table for 2, was a bit squished in between others. Would have been nice to have a bit more room. But my daughter and I still had a lovely time x

Had a sit down meal the staff were extremely friendly (not to mention patient) with my sister and I especially Tom. The food was fantastic only reason it's 4 stars is despite the fact we had a £40 gift card it is a little pricey all in all great experience.

Booked a Christmas Eve family get together here not expecting very much but have to say we were all very pleased with things in general. The food was well prepared and tasty and the ambience was good with attentive staff who were all very relaxed and helpful Overall bill was reasonable and I'd have to say that for a basic Italian type PIzza meal you probably can't do much better in the Brighton area particulalry as you can pay for all of the food with Tesco rewards points.

Checked before we ordered that they took the Tesco reward vouchers as me and my partner were having a nightmare couple of days in Brighton as our bank cards got cloned so the bank had to stop them and we could not get any money . When it came to paying the vouchers would not go though HOW EMBARRASSING but luckily the manager was amazing he took our number and said we can sort it later as it had to be the computers . But when I got up in the morning I had a notification on the app telling me the bill had been paid in full , I was lost for words this was the best birthday present ever their really are truly amazing people out their . Thank you soooooo much .

Nice place, nice food but prices are a bit high.

Visited for a quick lunch while shopping. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient. Our pizzas arrived promptly and were the usual excellent Pizza Express standard. The negative was that the music was far too loud (we weren't even near a speaker) and the general acoustics, in addition to the loud music, were poor, so that we could barely hear each other speak over the table. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this branch for a leisurely meal out, but it suffices as a pitstop while doing something else.

Edit: My apologies, my boyfriend just informed me he ordered from the Brighton Marina Pizza Express branch. Do not order from there. I ordered a Pollo ad Astra pizza in delivery and opened the sealed box to half of my pizza's toppings being completely slid off and were not present on my pizza at all. They were not melted or flipped to the other side, I checked. It was completely not present, including no sauce. So I had just half of an empty, soggy previously sauced base. This means a kitchen staff member was careless and didn't want to get in trouble and just packaged my pizza anyway. Despicable. And the crust of my pizza was mostly soggy and soft, which made it incredibly difficult to cut with my pizza cutter. I felt very upset and angry receiving this in delivery.

Absolutely amazing staff and food, with a very welcoming atmosphere! We were quickly greeted and shown to a table, I asked for a calorie free menu and they went and scratched out the calorie numbers from a menu, just for me. The service continued to...

Didn’t get the lovely ladys name but the waitress on shift today was the nicest waitress i’ve ever had. The pizza was delicious and the service was amazing! Highly recommend!

If you’re lucky enough to have your table served by Rory, your experience will be an absolute treat. He’s excellent at his job, balances being laid back and fun with being attentive and on the ball. Can’t sing his praises high enough, please give this kid a pay rise. Food was spot on and our whole group had a wonderful time. Rory even sang happy birthday to my friend- thanks for the lovely evening!

Food was ok, quite expensive for what it is and there are better pizzas restaurants in Brighton. Halloumi fries were rather soggy.

lovely meal, kid was happy with their coke, missus happy with her red wine and vegitarian pizza and i was happy with my meat pizza (love a bit of protein me), only problem is, bloody waiter cried into the doughballs and ruined the texture and taste of them. ruined sharons grandmas wake. other than that completely tippy-top

We always choose pizza express as a quick go to and good to eat pizza dinner. Unfortunately I doubt very much I would go back to this particular branch. Firstly I have never seen a PE so packed out with tables. You could barely pass...

Thank you to the manager and the team for making such a wonderful memory. We had dinner here on Saturday 8th October. I asked if we could have the window table as we had had our first dinner date there. What followed was an unforgettable evening that I will never forget. Thank you.

I think it was a bit undercooked. The meat heavy pizza should start to have the meat and cheese crisp or brown a bit, but the crust is so thin that it limits how long the pizza can plausibly be in the oven for, meaning the crust is finished way before the meat and cheese are.

Great food and drink but it was sooooo slow to arrive. Good thing we weren’t in a rush, but probably won’t be back

It's a pizza express, the food is fine however, the toppings on my pizza were so loose that they slid all the way down my front and stained my favourite jumper!! i shan't be getting that pizza again. the dough balls were okay but they are definitely better when you eat in as opposed to take away/have on delivery.

Just had to say what fantastic staff , they were extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble , food was served quickly , piping hot and tasted amazing . But it was the staff that made the evening , well done

Had a work Pizza making workshop and it was very well organised !

We booked for 10 of us for my son’s 10th birthday. Manager put some balloons on the table which was a nice surprise for the kids. Saturday afternoon and restaurant very busy but as we had pre-ordered there wasn’t any delay in the food. Food...
