Service great. Even on busy days. Food of good standard.

We were standing at the reception with a sign „please wait here to be seated“ for like 5 minutes, and so many waiters passing by ignored us. When we finally grab a person and asked can we just sit anywhere, the person said it’s all booked. They could have done better than ignoring the customers

The service was good seeing they seemed understaffed. Pity about the pizza it wasn't good at all and for the money very disappointing.

In a city of great independent restaurants and pizza places, this one clearly trades on its brand and location. It's good, but there's better to be had in Bath if you look around. However, the food is good. And no-one does better dough balls, that's for sure! Staff are, as you'd expect, friendly and professional. Decent.

It’s a very small restaurant but no complaints!

Had to ask for the fixed price menu, was not offered. Service very rushed and lacked atmosphere. Ok if you want fast food!

The manager was unbelievably sour and unfriendly (evening of 17th March), not a smile or any helpful interaction of any kind even though she could clearly see people were waiting and trying to get staff attention, nobody came to ask if we had a table booked for 10 minutes after we arrived (we had to call someone in the end as everyone simply walked past the queue at the door) so we were stood waiting by the door along with many other people. They had massively overbooked themselves and were completely full yet clearly couldn't manage that capacity. We had a theatre to get to and ended up having to stuff our food in in 10 minutes to make it on time, as we waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We had allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner which should be plenty in a pizzeria. 20 minutes after we had (finally) placed our food order the waiter came over and told us he had only just been informed by the kitchen that a key ingredient in 2 of our dishes was missing - they hadn't bothered telling him when he put the order through, but waited until he checked on our food with them. Result was that the table was booked for 6.15 but food only arrived at 7 and we had to leave at 7.15. Nobody brought the bill either when we asked. Absolute shambles. The young waiters were nice enough but SO unskilled. Basic function of a manager is to TRAIN STAFF and check their restaurant is running smoothly - this does not seem to happen anywhere anymore. Terrible and frustrating experience, we are locals and won't return.

The only good waiter was the man with a bun who was the only service we got and the waiting time was about an hour just for starters. Then the staff were very rude (swearing) won’t be going back. The only good part was the amazing man who we didn’t have his name but was very helpfull (man bun, jeans, shirt)

Staff were hostile and rude from the so called greeting at the door. Errors were made with food Inc items that were specifically stated as allergy. Pizza arrived stone cold, honestly didn’t bother complaining just wanted to leave. Don’t bother wasting your time going.

We went with my dad for a quick lunch. The store was empty due to the time of the day but the customer service was just amazing!!! Really good food, tasty and properly made. I would definitely recommend going for the pasta dishes!!

Hadn't had Pizza Express for a while as I built my own oven at home. I'd forgotten how good it was.

It was like a comedy show how bad the service was here... I've always used the caterham pizza express and they've always been great. This was next level... An hr wait for food Warm lager Large peroni poured in with a head of a bout 6 inches and thats being seriously generous... Massive attitude with the waitress... (I'd usually not moan about that as you never know what someone might be going through outside of the workplace) but wow it was like we'd done something to really hack her off... There's another Pizza Express in Bath. I'll give that a go next time

I had a fantastic dining experience at the local pizzeria. The pizza was delicious with a perfect crust, fresh ingredients, and a variety of toppings. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff provided friendly service. I highly recommend trying their pizzas!

Had an amazing time out in Bath Pizza Express. Got a warm welcome and the waiter was extremely nice, service was great and the food didn’t take long and tasted amazing, would 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere to eat out!

4 family members went for Xmas shopping and a birthday treat . Decided to pop in for lunch , ordered a meal each . When served our meals we were then informed that 2 of them were no longer available. This left two people without a meal and then told to order something else from the menu, meaning two eating , two waiting. The waiter walked off leaving his colleague to apologise to us , but the meal was ruined . I would have expected the waiter to have informed us at the time of ordering and not when food was served. Very disappointed.

Well, where do I start? Went in during the evening of 3rd December 23. Table for 2. Male server was very polite, ordered drinks and starter. Family of four (2 young children) stated they hadn't been told of the 40 minute wait, and left. We waited for some time, and got a garlic bread starter. This was very poorly made and so small with a blob of cheese on the top. Another couple had doughballs delivered, and sent them back for some reason. Their mains arrived before the doughballs had been sorted. With that, I spoke to a female who I believed to be the shift manager. I told her the garlic bread was poor and I wasn't prepared to wait any longer (over 45 mins by this time). I offered to pay for my drinks but she refused and said they were complimentary: in view of the poor service I assumed. The staff were obviously up against it, so many customers, but it seemed too few staff. It seems to be becoming the norm in this country that companies operate with as little staff as possible in order to maximise profits. Very disappointed to say the least.

We had a student discount but it was refused. I asked why and they gave a vague response about the Christmas market being on. I read the terms and conditions and nowhere does it state that certain events such as a market affects the discount. I think they couldn’t be bothered to reprint the bill. Won’t be eating here again as we only came here after seeing a good deal. Food was great but was left with a sour taste.

Shockingly bad service and stone cold pizzas. I was told we would be refunded as we didn't want the cold pizza and were too busy to make fresh ones. It's been over a week and we still haven't had my £30+ refund.

Service was really rude Really bad experience unfortunately. We were given a table outside, even If all table inside were empty. The waitresses said all table were reserved but no one showed up for the all time we were there. When I asked what time the tables were reserved from, they didn’t even reply. We were left outside freezing and waited our food and drinks for at least 1 hour. Choose well before sitting there!

Amazing! Good vibe & nice staff

The waiter hurried us and told us they didn’t have the ingredients to add on top of pizzas but when we asked someone else they did (showed laziness and a lack of care). Got all of our orders wrong and overall was a negative experience with rude service. Will not be back.

Nicht nur Pizza! Aber natürlich stehen vor allem verschiedene Pizzas auf der Speisekarte - ist ja schliesslich der Pizza Express. Es gibt aber auch andere italienische Klassiker wie Lasagne und Gnocchi. Mit feinen Vorspeisen und/oder einem Salat wird der Hauptgang zu einer vollen Mahlzeit zu dennoch moderatem Preis abgerundet. Wenn Sie nicht zu Stosszeiten dort sind, nimmt sich das Personal auch gerne Zeit für einen Schwatz. Wir wurden rasch und freundlich bedient.

Amazing food wonderful friendly staff. I wish I lived here so I could come all the time. Make sure to try the BBQ pizza.

The food and service were great, very accommodating!, even with an awkward app discount thing, but a chipped grease covered glass for water is basic no no. Also the air con was on and it was a tad chilly one set of diners moved, then where they moved to was even colder so they left the restaurant. I would eat here again because it was delicious but the few things I mentioned jaded it.

Awful customer service, unable to contact the branch itself or no one was answering the phone. Wanted to pre order food to ensure our birthday party meal ran on time for parents collecting. I arrived an hour early to ask if I could leave cake at the venue and pre order the food as was unable to this in advance despite leaving x3 voicemails and sending emails. Lady who I spoke with was so rude and it was clear she was inconvenienced by my visit and requests. The food for the kids was good however and the guy who served us was friendly with the children.

Went here for dinner. Very expensive for what you get. Very slow service, with two pizzas taking 45 minutes to arrive.

My expectations at tonight’s dinner were exceeded immensely mainly due to the care and attention we received from Mario. Great service, very personable and he even had some late night bar suggestions for us once we had done. Our food was freshly cooked and the pizzas super tasty! An excellent experience all round. We got a very small pizza with very little topping that was outrageously expensive for the food that we got. The service for unbelievably slow for an almost empty restaurant and the server was clearly untrained and unprofessional. Very disappointing for compared to other restaurants of the same chain. Morgan was a delight serving us this evening. And the food was delicious as ever. Long time since we have eaten here. So happy to see standards have not changed.

Tonight Mario was an absolute star! I had to leave for an emergency and he very kindly rushed my order to take out. He is kind & professional- thank you Mario. 5 star service!!

Disappointing experience. Staff seemed disappointed when I walked in at 8.30 as it was clear they were hoping to close early. Chef had already cleaned pizza pans so had to reseason causing thick smoke throughout the resturant. Very disappointing for so early in the evening to feel you are not wanted (there were other diners already in the resturant). Chef was talking loudly about lack of chefs at the branch. Waiter also eating on shift infront of myself and other customers.

When we arrived, our server met us with limited enthusiasm and bluntly told us we could have a table for two, but they would need the table back in an hour. Absolutely fine; we had places to be, but the tone of voice was aggressive and rude. We took a table; we had our mind set on Pizza Express. We had a different server who was incredibly polite and took our order. Both Vegan, but the pizza dough was tough and crunchy and had clearly been overcooked. Instead of redoing the food, they just served it as they were in a rush. Whilst we were eating, our original grumpy server came to clear the two tables next to us and start putting them together and was glaring at us, making us feel incredibly uncomfortable. We were ready to leave after half an hour or arriving, but it took us an additional 25 minutes to get the attention of our original server who came over and assertively told us it was time to leave and we needed to pay. We tried to tell her we'd been asking for the bill for 25 minutes but she continued to be rude to us for taking too much time when we were told she'd need the table back after an hour. Would not go back.

We had a nicely prepared and cooked meal, served by very friendly and professional staff. Just what we needed after a hard day's shopping 😃👍

The initial welcome I received was someone asking if I had a reservation before even saying hello. I was a little worried I had made a mistake walking in here however the food was good and the service after our initial welcome was good. Used the app to pay the bill so less time waiting around as the place was busy.

Had an amazing reunion with some friends at Pizza Express Bath today. Food was great and service was amazing, shout out to Mario who looked after us, thanks - we'll be back!

Do you mind to restrain to mention anything you are selling as Italian food? Gran Milano cheese does not exist at all. Carbonara is a pasta dish with Guanciale bacon, eggs and Pecorino cheese. Bechamel is used in Lasagne but it is not made with cream. Learn how to cook Italian food properly, please...or just forget it. SHAME

Always a great experience and good value food

Enjoyed lovely food here as always, I had lasagne rather than my usual favourite pollo and astra, which was really good! We were a tiny bit cold, but a lovely dinner out. Thanks

Rubbish customer service by Waiter Mario (needs to be fired) I had ordered 2 kids menu and the desert had not come. When I inquired, one of the waiters called Mario said it was not charged where as I had paid for it. I had to show my receipt and the desert was bought by another waiter Abbey (who was very good) To management u should not have waiters like Mario u will lose business

Die Pizza war sensationell. Sehr dünner und knuspriger Boden. Einfach spitze. Würde hier jederzeit wieder eine Pizza essen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Went here for my Birthday and staff were super friendly, they even let us sit in a seating area which wasn’t open in a different room because i said i thought it was pretty! Food was standard pizza express food so yummy!

I love Pizza Express and found their Bath restaurant a gem. The food was great and Mario who looked after me could not have been more help. Highly recommended. It’s just next door to the Theatre Royal so most convenient for a meal before or after a performance. JohnK

Good pizza express as usual, you know what you’re getting and it was good. Service nice and friendly.

We have eaten at a number of Pizza Express’ across the country and this one was not up to scratch. We have, usually, found the food to be fresh and inviting, but here the dough balls were over cooked and the ones with pesto and cheese were sitting in an inch of oil at the bottom. The pizzas were also over cooked and the salad looked as if it had been thrown on the plate. Observing customer service, across the restaurant, this was mixed and at times dismissive. A disappointing visit.

It's probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The pizza sauce was very tasty, and the pizza bead was crispy and delicious. Also, the staff was very friendly. 5 out of 5

Cheeseless pizza, not what I ordered. For nearly £16 a pizza you’d expect a bit more. The buffalo mozzarella starter also leaves much to be desired. Really disappointed in this experience won’t go again.

Hacía seis años que no comía en ningún Pizza Express y animé a mi amiga a hacerlo en la bonita ciudad de Bath. El local tiene mucho encanto; es pequeñito pero decorado con mucho gusto, aunque los baños dejan mucho que desear, tanto en estilo como en higiene. El personal es muy amable y hablan español, nos aconsejaron en todo momento para elegir los platos y fueron muy simpáticos. Tomamos la brocheta marca de la casa y la pasta que lleva su nombre. Todo estaba riquísimo. De 10. El local se ubica a pocos metros de la señorial abadía. Un punto fuerte a tener en cuenta si quieres elegir un buen sitio donde comer en Bath.

Been to the pizza expresses in Bath a few times now with friends. Really enjoy the experience, lovely staff, great pizza and cold Peroni’s! Would love a little more of a beer selection as it is just Peroni, and not even on tap! I’m love with the spicy meat pizza, unreal bit of cheffing

lovely welcome and the waiter we had was very nice and helpful and nice atmosphere within the restaurant however 4 stars as margherita pizza was mainly tomatoe based with not much cheese and the sundae we had wasn’t as advertised on the website

Please do not waste your money as there are better places to eat in Bath. As a local to Bath a friend suggested we went to Pizza Express pre Theatre for dinner. I agreed as I had fond memories of PE in London and Bristol. However, It was awful service and the food was so bad. Starters arrived almost an hour after we ordered and they were cold. When I complained I was told by one waiter with his back to me that it was home made so expect it to be cold? They took out away and gave us a free bottle of wine and we skipped to the mains. I told them I didn’t want the wine so we ended up giving it to the table next to me. The mains eventually arrived which were second rate. As I left I asked the manager to give me the area managers email. She did this in bad hand writing and SUPRISE it was not recognised as an email. A awful waste of money, time and energy. They do not deserve to be in Bath.

I wanted to write a review to compliment how brilliant and lovely our server was, I believe she was called Icete (that could be the totally wrong spelling so my apologies!!) - I find the service is usually pretty average in pizza express but she was just absolutely great. We were never waiting for her, she was super attentive while also being really friendly and chatty. She was all round excellent!

Managed to book last minute for a little family reunion the staff were very polite and the location was extremely clean. The food was of a high standard and we were offered suitable methods of taking any spare food back with us. Great service even with a somewhat energetic kid.

Great food and overall nice experience

Ordered a “lighter” pizza, they cut a hole in the middle and put leaves on top. No indication on the menu that this would be the case. Also, one member of staff was quite rude towards us when we asked about redeeming an offer on free dough balls. Overall an overpriced and unpleasant experience. Edit: We finally managed to redeem our free dough balls after asking for the manager. No one else who we asked that worked there knew how to. We asked 3 different people, which mind you takes a long time. It is absurd to not train your staff on how to help with an offer you place on every single table. One of the waiters laughed as he served me the Leggara, I think that says enough in itself.

Like Pizza Express. Any excuse for a fiorentina pizza. I appreciate we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis but it appears that Wagon Wheels are not the only things that are shrinking with time... Will be able to fit the entire pizza on a side plate before long. That said, it was still delicious! Had the biscotti cheesecake for afters. Entire bill came to £90 for three of us. No alcohol

Warm, attentive welcome. The staff couldn’t do enough to make sure our meal was exactly as we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

A standard pizza express in the lovely city of Bath. If you are seated in the ‘basement’ it is gloomy and there is not enough lighting. The service was poor, as while the staff were friendly and nice, we had to wait quite a while to be served. All our food came at different times, and while I understand the food probably comes when it is ready it would have been nice if we didn’t have to wait five minutes from the first dish arriving to the final dish. However, the food was tasty, with our favourites being the dough balls and (to our surprise) the chicken tikka pizza. All in all, a pleasant meal with good food, which was let down by a gloomy unpleasant ‘basement’ and slightly subpar service. I would return, but I would definitely request to be seated upstairs next time.

Don't sit downstairs. Others from this chain don't even seat customers downstairs, as of the bad atmosphere. It felt like a cave. There was plenty of space upstairs this New Years Eve. None of the servers seemed to know about communication - or even checking with the chef for dietary requirements. Twice we asked both of our servers about if dishes were gluten free and they both assumed they were. Credit to the chefs, the order was quick to prepare and arrive (unlike other Pizza Expresses). But the system, precautions and just the lack of training and procedures, resulted in us landing an unwanted debate with some random waitress about a Gluten Free person on our table being fed Gluten. Lucky they weren't extremely allergic, but not even the manager or original server came to apologize to us in our dark basement table - and (I know it might be to cover themselves) no one seemed willing to properly except or change mistakes for the future and the whole experience was just frustrating and sickening. They kept messing up the bill at the end (not to mention the infuriating Pizza Express App), albeit it did result in us obtaining a bigger refund than perhaps otherwise intended. Overall, I felt sorry for the girl that got dobbed in to deal with us - and ultimately it is the same in many places. Undertrained (underpaid) staff just mess up, although the blatant lying of servers when questioned about taken an allergen order and unwillingness to change, compelled us to make this review.

Eliza was amazing! She seemed run off her feet but at no point wasn’t smiling, was always polite and super helpful. She was great. Our food was also probably the best PE I’ve had. We had minimal wait as the team was punctual with taking our order and then getting food and drinks back to us. Thanks to the team for an awesome wrap up to our date night!

Good quality food, great staff. It's a bit of a tight squeeze getting to the tables, but once you're installed it's fine 🙂

First time eating in a Pizza Express. Good experience and good food. The lady who received us wasn’t the most friendly but the waiter Joseph was nice and friendly all the time and made a difference to our dinner. Ordered 2 classic pizzas which were of good size, calamari as starter that was delicious and around 8pieces so I thought it was good too. The dessert was ok. I used a student discount so all in all a good experience!

Rude members of staff and very slow service. We were told food would take 10 minutes and it took 35, also didn't recieve the dessert we ordered. The pizza was delicious though.

Take away. Collected. Very afficient and great pizza especially the gluten free one and the gluten free dough balls.
