Pizza Express in Oxford

quality seemed good, but the taste is not good at all unfortunately, wouldn't order again, much less pay full price for it

Waiting over 2 hours for food to be delivered, rang the restaurant about 10 times and no one ever picked up, and food arrived cold.

Very nice food and on time delivery with a polite and friendly driver driver.

Late delivery. Wrong pizzas delivered. No dips with the sides as ordered. Restaurant were unable to be contacted. Appalling

Pizza toppings were all over the inside box, either pizza not quite cooked enough or poor delivery method to ensure product delivered more in tact?

My friends and I had a celebration for winning a tournament for charity, some of our friends was running late but we ordered early because we were already hungry. We told the waiter that we will not be waiting for those who are late. Our late friends arrived and ordered and got their food earlier than us. Our food was an hour late. When we asked for it, the response we got was so rude, blaming us that the others was late when we specifically said we will not be waiting. The food was not good, it was not worth the money. There are other pizza restaurants in oxford way better, and is worth the money. We only tried pizza express as we haven't tried it before and the experience was not good. It was a shame that the service was absolute doo doo.

Manager on shift unwelcoming, almost empty restaurant and sat two full tables either side of us, practically touching. Was told if I was cold to switch on the tiny fan heater plugged in on the floor behind me... Food was good, that was the only plus.

My Family of 4 tried to dine at Pizza Express Oxford at 5pm on Saturday 1st March. Despite the restaurant only being less than half full, with plenty of spare tables available, we were told that we could not be accommodated for up to an hour and a half, as they didn't have enough staff on duty! Unbelievable, shouldn't be in business!

Chips were quite clearly old and reheated.

If you don't want to get angry, don't go. My wife and I had a terrible experience. The staff are rude and inattentive. Just because I raised my hand to ask for my bill, a staff member wanted to correct me and lecture me, saying that this is not acceptable in the UK. I will never go back.

We were a large school group so complicated for the kitchen staff. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed a lovely time with complimentary drinks for the students and highly attentive staff who were patient and generous. Many thanks to the whole team at Pizza Express, Golden Cross, Oxford.

The food was great and so were the drinks but apart from the person who greeted us (we think it was the manager), the staff just treated us a bit like an inconvenience? The service didn’t feel very friendly and when we were paying, we felt like we were being stared at to ensure to add gratuity - this felt very uncomfortable and we had to tip despite not being very satisfied.

Muy decepcionante. Esperé 30 minutos para nuestra mesa que habíamos reservado. Luego tuvimos que esperar otros 40 minutos para nuestra comida principal. El personal no pudo gestionar el restaurante y las entregas a domicilio al mismo tiempo. Pizza express necesita decidir si son un restaurante o servicio de entrega a domicilio. Mientras se está sentado en la mesa se recogen entregas constantes interrumpiendo todo el ambiente. Había tantos pedidos que a los clientes en el restaurante real no se les proporcionaban bebidas o comida como era de esperar. Triste ya que mi marido y yo ya no vamos a usar el restaurante. La empresa tiene sus prioridades equivocadas

Ordered gluten free pizza they gave us non gluten free. Made us wait two hours!!

I tried their pizzas- Smoky BBQ and Double American Cheese. Both were delicious. Good portions. Good taste and value for money. Their chocolate brownie, however, to me seemed like a tiny portion. They have some great offers and discounts as well. And speedy service.

It's been ages since I've been to this restaurant but goodness, it definitely still has it! Great service with a very warm welcome and delicious pizzas as ever. Tasty house red (shiraz) and Ioved the Dolcetti desserts. I had the Caffe Reale (sweet figs in a cinnamon and white wine spiced syrup with mascarpone - pictured) and it was amazing. Definitely coming back soon!

this is a consistent problem with the delivery here. Do not advertise yourselves to deliver within a certain time period if you frequently delay the order to the point where I have to wait an hour for my food to be delivered.

Today I visited Pizza Express, and it was amazing. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. I tried a few different pizzas, and every single one was outstanding. The service was top-notch — quick, friendly, and attentive. Highly recommend this place! ❤️

Reservamos a última hora y cuando llegamos, nos dijeron que la aplicación no debería aceptar reservas. Sin embargo, nada era un problema para Andre y él ordenó una mesa para nosotros enseguida. Siendo celiaco tengo que tener mucho cuidado donde como y me sentí muy cómodo con la forma en que este restaurante manejó mis requerimientos. Andre entabló una conversación con nosotros, contándonos sobre la historia de Oxford y el edificio. Andre era un activo absoluto para Pizza Express!

Lovely experience, had a really kind blonde waitress who was very attentive and helpful.

Had a really nice meal here on Saturday - everywhere else was absolutely packed with queues out the door, but thanks to Pizza Express having a really large number of tables, the manager was able to fit us in!

Went for late lunch here the other day for my boyfriend’s birthday and all I can say is… wow! The service made the entire experience, the food was honestly just a bonus (and it was extremely delicious..). Sam was our server and he was the best server I’ve had in YEARS! He’s one of the very few left in the industry that give impeccable service. Andrea was also incredible from the second we walked through the door, as there was a slight hiccup with the booking and Andrea sorted it within the first 2 minutes of us arriving. He helped organise the cake being bought out, helped with whatever we needed and was overall just amazing and helpful. Thank you Sam and Andrea, my boyfriend and I will definitely be back and we look forward to it :)

Good arrived barely room temperature.

The pizza does not have any taste, had to eat as I did not have anything to do. The chicken is completely tasteless. The pizza dough is so hard. Overall, not a good one.

Only picked an order from Too Good To Go, but the staff are very lovely; Margerita pizza and doughs are tasty. I like the ambience too.

Habíamos reservado una mesa para 5 a las 7 pm. Cuando llegamos puntualmente había una larga cola para sentarse, y tardamos 25 minutos en sentarnos, a pesar de la reserva. Durante este tiempo la alarma de incendios sonó varias veces, lo que significa que nuestras conversaciones se vieron interrumpidas. El servicio fue lento durante toda nuestra comida, y la comida estaba por debajo de los estándares habituales de pizza express. No recomendaría!

We had such a lovely experience dining here on Friday night - the food was great, but the person who deserves a special shoutout is our lovely server Noel. Noel was absolutely wonderful - such a charming person with infectious energy. We really hope that he gets some recognition for this!

La comida es increíble y nunca ha decepcionado, pero aún más volvemos a conocer a Barbara que ha estado allí durante eones y es una de las anfitrionas más increíbles de la historia. El servicio, los entrantes, la red y el desierto es excepcional! Un must go. .

The pizza here was delicious! We ordered the BBQ burnt ends and American hot pizzas, which were amazing. Our servers Andre and Emma were friendly and super helpful! I would recommend!

We had dinner at Pizza Express and had excellent service from Andre and Emma. We got two pizzas to share which were delicious and the perfect size. Andre and Emma made us feel very welcome and we had a lovely chat to them. We will definitely come back

Very disappointed, ok not been for 10 years but seeing its a wonderful building in a great city....The place looks like its not had a makeover in that time. Pizza fatty taste, toilets absolutely disgusting!!!! Look management, pull your finger out and do something about it!

Pizza express pasta portions are awful, today we had the carbonara and we were served a tiny amount of food, small enough to be a kids or starter or side portion. We were told that it was put into a bigger bowl today. This doesn’t excuse the price of £15.45 for such a small meal. Pizza express has deeply dissapointed me. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for this food, dissapointed.

The new PE in Summertown, Oxford is very good. We had a relaxed lunch and the lady who served us was very good. Pizzas and salads were good, but the pasta dishes are to be avoided, unless you are gluten free.

We loved everything about our lunch. I am old and disabled and a very kind man, I think he may be the manager, took my walker out of my scooter for me and put it back again when we left. The service was really attentive and we thought the food excellent: perfectly cooked and wih delicious sauces - and more of these when we asked for them We were there to celebrate our 65th wedding anniversary but we only told the kind manager as we left. He said he would have done something special if he'd known. We hope to go again soon.

Went there today and despite it being busy I was promptly greeted and served. Had a lovely La Reine pizza and again when it was time for me to pay I was promptly given my bill. Very pleased.

Honestly so so good! Highly recommend if you want a delicious pizza, we got the soho’65 pizza and it had so much flavour for it being vegetarian! Staff were absolutely lovely and quick service, was a bit on the pricier side however was well worth it

Absolutely excellent, as to expect from a pizza express. Service was quick and precise. I went for a classic 12 piece dough balls. And the Romano base American hot. Cracking. Personally I love the garlic oil that you have to ask for. Guilty as charged, I absolutely doused my pizza in it. Love it 5/5 as always

Like any good chain restaurant the food is generally consistent but the service can fluctuate. That's why it was such a pleasure to have dinner at the Pizza Express in Oxford. The food was exactly what I expected and wanted but the quality of the service from Eva was exceptional. Attentive but not overbearing. Great job!

Driver called to say he couldn’t find the address , Pizza turned up cold ,first / last time to use pizza Express .

We needed to find a place to eat in the centre of Oxford before going to the Oxford Playhouse Theatre and found Pizza Express, which is tucked away just off Cornmarket Street. The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The service, pizzas and general atmosphere were all excellent. Also our wine (Nero Davola Shiraz), the roulade dessert and coffee were very good. A most enjoyable start to our evening.

not sure if there was a run on the margherita today, but felt dubiously shortchanged for the double pizza for 2 when there was so little margherita on the pizza that one could amusingly see the concentric circles of passata. a woeful surface area coverage of mozzarella circa <50% on average per slice on what was otherwise a moreish base

A whole meal was missing and Joyce along with staff was laughing whilst I was on the phone waiting to hear the meal was not packed but still on the side!!! Joyce stated go back to Just Eat and get a refund as they cannot send out the missing meal! Terrible service as they did not check off the items when packing order! It’s all a joke to Joyce and colleagues so will not be spending any money with this joke of a company called Pizza Express Golden Cross again! Truely disgraceful service!

The delivery was good, good communication from driver, just slightly late which I would normally overlook but since I scheduled the delivery hours in advance was a little annoying. However it seems the issues are down to the restaurant – the food was freezing cold when it arrived which was very disappointing when I've paid for a hot meal.

we had an incredible experience at this pizza express establishment. the staff were all so welcoming and lovely towards us, our server Fergus was amazing at looking after us and making our experience so enjoyable. It was my 21st birthday and they gave me a free pudding as well as one for the rest of the group so that they didn’t feel left out! such a lovely tea out, thank you so much everyone.

After dining i saw the manager was making a pizza where he was coughing and was using the same hand to make pizza.Not maintaing hygiene at all.

I'm old enough to remember going to the original London Pizza Express, back in the 60's which, whilst a bit of a novelty at the time, was nevertheless, a truly memorable and special experience. Since then and many (tummy - bound) pizzas later, my love for Italian food continues unabated and when it comes to pizzas in this country, no-one comes closer than Pizza Express. This particular restaurant simply compounds my love and the staff went further to not only enhancing our eating experience, (my three stepsons were treating me for my birthday!) but making it extra special. Particularly, Andre, the Manager, who really made us feel special and welcome in what was a busy time, in the restaurant. ps: I had bruschetta to start and a La Reine pizza with an egg, all washed down with a delicious Peroni Doppo Malto. De-flippin-licious. Highly recommended, can't wait to go back.

Food Consistency is the game with pizza express, but on this occasion, the service was fantastic, and the location historical too, you get to eat where the one and only William Shakespeare used to stay in route to London !

The food was extremely slow and disorder.

My recent visit to Pizza Express in Oxford was completely unsatisfactory. Things started off fine with our starters being served quickly, but it all went downhill from here onwards. We waited ages for our mains, with two tables who ordered after us receiving their food before we did. One of those tables also had pasta dishes, to which we were told when ordering that there was no pasta at all! During this time we were waiting, I began to notice that the staff appeared to be closing the restaurant for the night - taking bins out, wearing coats while still serving customers, walking round with a drill in hand, waiting staff shouting goodbye at the kitchen staff - all of which was not at all pleasant for us, nor professional. The kitchen staff were also wiping down all the kitchen surfaces before we had even received our mains. This was completely unacceptable considering it was an hour and a half before they were meant to close and it was a Saturday night! When our mains did arrive, two of the pizzas that were meant to have chicken on came without the chicken. These were then replaced, but there was no apologies from the staff or any details about how they were dealing with the issue at the time. By this point, we felt very rushed to eat our food and leave as they were closing so early. We also had issues with settling our bill via their online app, with the manager trying to explain how 2 of our payments had failed. When we had worked out how to resolve this issue, I informed the manager of this and he preceded to completely shut me down in a rude and inconsiderate manner. Overall, despite the nice food (when the correct meals were received), the atmosphere created and complete lack of etiquette from the staff made this dining experience utterly appalling. I certainly will not be returning for the foreseeable future and would much prefer to go to one of the other Italian restaurants down George Street.
