I love pizza express, one of the best places for pizza, generally. But, disappointed with high wycombe - ordered dough balls - there wasn’t even enough garlic butter in the dish for one dough ball let alone the plate full. Children’s pizza - I would not have wanted to eat it - where was the cheese? A bit scattered on a couple of the slices but mainly tomato base on pizza bread - sent back to be sorted, and it was replaced. My pizza was amazing as ever - fiorentina. The staff were lovely - and helpful. It is a shame the quality of some of the food served was not the standard I have always had in other pizza express restaurants.

I go to this pizza express every Tuesday night with my son after picking him up from school. My son has autism and I have some specific requests when it comes to his food (cutting the pizza in to smaller bitesize pieces and delay from starter to main). It is never EVER an issue. In fact they can't do enough. The staff engage make us feel welcome and are always going above and beyond. I can't thank them enough for their PHENOMENAL customer service. It doesn't matter if it is busy or quite the same level of polite, courteous and great service is provided. With the current climate money is tighter than usual. But in my opinion its probably the one expenditure a week I have no resentment in parting with. Thank you to all the staff, Front of house, Kitchen and the backroom engine that provide us with such a fantastic evening.

U have been with my family to this restaurant trends of times over the years, although less so in recent times. It has become a festive tradition to watch a film and then go for a pizza - this year was no exception however the experience was not positive. We had a reasonable dough balls doppio to start and then the mains. My son's was ok, but the centre underneath was just about, and barely cooked - he didn't complain but it was just on the right side of cooked. My calzone was, on the other hand, absolutely the wrong side of cooked in the top. The pastry was the translucent get off part cooked/uncooked pastry so back it went. I was pleasant, waiter was pleasant. The waiters interaction with the chef was not pleasant - my son watched them argue, show each other the pizza, pike prod, disagree then in the bin it went for a new one to be cooked. The manager came for a minute and told me this was how it was supposed to be? hmmmmm! Perhaps my experiences of pizzas in England, Europe and especially that part of Europe shaped like a boot were all wrong and I had been misguided by thousands of people throughout my life..... I disagreed politely with the manager, relying on my life experience over what seemed to behis singular and very limited experience, he went away. All was good to this point as I was going to get the customer service expected...The pizza(calzone) that arrived was perfetto on the outside, will cooked, brown but not burnt - here we go!I ordered the n'duja which is supposed to be a bit spicy, yummy, just how I.......Someone seems to have given this some extra chilli, to the point where it is inedible for most people without cast iron constitution, and a mouth used to Naga and ghost!I took a picture, complained, refused to pay and walked away. I seriously would question the new owners of this establishment, their understanding of customer service, their control of their staff if they allow this behaviour, and we will not be returning. A disgusting way to treat people - stay well clear of this - pizza express has always been of a standard through good franchising and control. I don't just blame the local management here, the standard has dropped across the board - expensive, high margin should be a good exclusive that people are willing to pay for. Disgusting food, poor service won't get paid by me, reducing your income twice as you made the pizza twice.Yes it was hotter than I would have liked but the outcome.... Priceless!

After we moved to the area we have been visiting this place for sometime now. We love the food from Pizza Express. The décor is quite standard. What makes us to keeping come back are the staff. Well, I've been going to pizza express since the 80's and it's in the main, been a pleasurable experience. Alas, high Wycombe needs to buck it's ideas up, massively. Shown my table in a semi busy restaurant (6 tables busy and three of them were on desert) and there were at least 6staff on and a pitiful manager. No drink offered as I sat then continued to sit there for over ten minutes, still no service or even "I'll be with you in a minute sir", just staff who needed to find at least a second gear, wandering around, two girls chatting behind the coffe machine, the manager looking way out of his comfort zone. I arrived just behind these two gentlemen who, as I left, had drinks and a plate of dough balls. I've managed very decent eating establishments over a 25 year career so I kind of definitely know what I'm talking about. The originator must be spinning in his grave, and rightly so.High Wycombe, you're a massive disappointment.

The restaurant was very quiet, which was surprising considering it was the Sunday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend. We were seated immediately by a friendly and welcoming staff member. We ordered starters and mains: Arancini x 2 (starters), Leggera Padana (me...only 450 calories) and Pollo Pesto and washed it down with non-alcohol beer. Lovely. We we thoroughly impressed by the food, atmosphere and staff. We'll definitely be back i'm sure.

Appalling customer service, you're better off finding another restaurant in the Eden Centre. Tried to organise a meal on a Saturday as a party for my 5 year old and the person who dealt with my enquiry clearly didn't want my business, dealing with me in a rude and abrupt manner. More interested in getting as much money as possible than a positive dining experience. If the manager treated me this way, it says a lot about the whole restaurant.

This restaurant is located in a row alongside other chain restaurants. At 8pm on a Saturday, this was the only restaurant with vacant tables.Quite a few dishes were unavailable (3 of the starters).Had calamari to start. It was the cheapest battered calami available served with a cesear dip. Weird dip for this dish - just too sickly.Pizza was ok. Not as good as other comparable chains such as zizzi or ask. Over priced for what it was.Poor range of drinks. Peroni as only lager available. If you want a chain restaurant experience- go 2 doors down to zizzi

Just want to say how amazing our meal was and how accommodating the manager (Amy), chefs and waitress who served us(can't remember name) were. We had a table of 7 adults and 6 children so already know that it's going to be a very messy meal. With that everything went smoothly, we were served quickly and food and drinks also came out at good time. What made the night for me was how accomodating the chefs was without kids, they let them roll their own Doughballs and to our surprise even cooked them for us. I've never really been a fan of Pizza express but definitely the High Wycombe branch has changed my mind as other Pizza express locations I've always had issues with. My mother and I, rushing around whilst famished had to stop at Pizza Express in High Wycombe on route from Oxford to London. We explained to the waitress that we only had half hour to eat and leave and asked if this would be possible. The young lady was so incredibly helpful, more so considering my flustered panic on arrival! She kindly asked the chefs, told us it was possible, agreed to take our order as we were sitting at the table and we paid prior to the food arriving.Very impressed and so appreciative of both the waitress and the chef for accommodating us and our ridiculously small time frame! We both ordered the new mozzarella and tomatoe salad for starters - mozzarella was fresh and seasoned perfectly, the pesto dressing was very nice not over powering but not too mild either! Would definitely have again despite the tomatoes being baby plum variety. Both ordered romano pizzas difference in toppings. Both of which arrived in super quick time and piping hot and really yummy!!Thank you Pizza Express High Wycombe :-)

The reviews for this branch have not been glowing of late, so I was a little cautious about what to expect, however it could not have been better. Fast friendly service, beautiful fresh food and a lovely atmosphere. I had the spinach cannelloni, which was excellent and my daughter had the bruschetta to start and a Margarita Pizza for her main. All full of flavour and good size portions. I am very fussy when eating out, but it really was an excellent meal. Wife & I hoped for more but got what we expected, limited toppings for maximum profit. In our opinion being on a Supermarket coupon scheme has made them up their prices and reduce their offerings, the pizza was OK, but the toppings on both wife's & my pizza were so limited it made it just OK.Pizza Express use to be good 20 years ago.The started were OK, but the pizza's were rubbish.Several weeks before I was in Scotland and had the same pizza topping in a privately owned pizzeria, it was amazing, too much to finish & CHEAPER , so it can be done. The restaurant is right by the bus station in High Wycombe, but you will have to pay for car parking. We went out for dinner the next day in another town and for less money the food was amazing and cost less.Would we return = No

It's a shame the service is so slow :-( our waitress was polite but lacked any sort of personality or wish to make our Saturday afternoon lunch a memorable experience. We wanted a simple light pizza lunch and had a voucher from vouchercloud which clearly said it was valid (date, location, day of week, 40% off food) but the Pizza Express tills wouldn't accept it and our waitress seemed to make no effort to seek a manager or drop the bad news gently or offer a different promotion. To make matters worse the atmosphere lacked anything to brighten the dining experience, the hardwood floors made everything just noisy. It was all rather lacklustre and I don't know if we would bother again. There's plenty of other food options in the Eden shopping area which are equal in price but trying harder to keep customers.

Took my 11 year old daughter and 6 friends out for a birthday tea after spending the afternoon at Rush. Great kids menus and colouring activities. Food was good but the service was a bit slow due to waitresses being tied up with a group on another table who were unhappy with their bill. Our waitress was happy to cut up our cake and wrap it in individual portions. You can't go wrong with Pizza Express for adults and children alike.

Wanted a nice bite to eat for Sunday lunch. Arrived at Pizza Express and they had a large group of children having a party. We decided to wait as they had already been served and there were a number of staff working. We waited a significant amount of time by the door without anyone acknowledging our presence and whilst staff appeared to be aimlessly walking around or standing at the bar chatting. Occasionally a member of staff would glance over but made no effort to make any contact with us. We ended up leaving and going to another Italian pizza restaurant two doors down where they were also hosting a kids party but where we were welcomed and served by friendly and competent staff. All they needed to do was acknowledge us.

Food was actually good for a chain. Ok' ish portion sizes but expensive for one up on Pizza Hut. We had 2 set meals and 2 mains. Pizza, lassengia, pasta, aubergine bake, all good with the aubergine bake best. Including 2 deserts plus 4 drinks and would cost near £80 for basically nice fast food.

a large group of 12 booked on a friday I arrived a good half an hour early table ready and they were happy to let me sit there and wait. Food was standard but one thing that made the difference was that for a big table ordering was quick and delivery was good and speedy. worth a visit

I visited pizza express in HW with a friend on Sunday 1st May in the afternoon. The restaurant was not overly busy. We stood at door waiting to be seated. Staff were looking over at us but then just looked away. I made contact with a staff member a couple of times before she came over and sat us down. Someone came over to get our order, she seemed bored and as if she did not want to be there. We ordered some starters which came quickly, dough balls which were very nice and some burschetta. I would not recommend the burchetta, it was not worth the price. After about 30mins since the order we wondered where our food had got to as we only ordered some pasta for the main. We looked around and the waitresses were all huddled together in one corner chatting. I felt they were doing this a lot of the time. They weren't going to come over and check on us so I walked over to them and asked where our food had got to and they bought it over straight away! Later when we finished I saw a lady serving the table next to us, I asked her to pack our food and if we could pay the bill as I knew none of the staff were going to bother coming to check up on us.Overall the food was okay, food was over priced and the customer service was poor. I see now reading the reviews below that I'm not the only one who felt this. I'm sure not all other pizza express restaurants are the same but I shall not be returning to the Wycombe branch again.

I came here with 3 friends on a Thursday evening. The food was fine, not as good as it has been. The waitress appeared very bored, and at the end when we were about to pay (we had not paid yet) she said "just so you know that didn't include a tip", which was really rude. I think the overall standard of pizza express has really dropped over the past year.

Went with my girlfriend and a few of her friends the other night, and was appalled at the service, we wanted to be quick but had to wait half an hour for our order to be taken, and an hour to be served anything apart from drinks (which were long gone by the time any food came near us). My girlfriend, being vegan, wasn't expecting much, but at the very least wanted a portion of chips. But of course, they didn't serve them... What kind of restaurant doesn't serve chips? So after what seemed like forever back and forth with our miraculously disappearing waitress, we ended up with... Polenta chips, with nothing on them (some sort of chip made out of corn). And were happy enough to just eat those and run out of there. However, when I asked for the bill, they came back with the bill... For the whole table. And apparently, if you want to pay separately, you have to tell them beforehand? Uhm, what. So we ended up passing a calculator around the table and taking 20% off ourselves, for the student discount, since they couldn't do math themselves, and inputting the amount we needed to put individually to the card machine. My goodness it was a mess. We'll certainly never go there again. Oh, and, three days later, the payment is still pending in my account.

Some of our group were a little late arriving but they said it wasn't a problem. The Starr were all very friendly and pleasant but once our mains had been served we were just ignored & had to keep trying to get their attention to get more drinks and desserts etc. We all had different meals and they all tasted really good my lasagne was delicious. Overall would recommend giving this place a try.

Used the online booking for Sunday lunch, and on arrival, although VERY busy, were shown straight to our "booth" for 4 people. The sharing platter we had for our starter, and the olives selection were excellent, and all the pizzas, and the pasta dish were hot and well presented. The restaurant entrance is located very conveniently under cover, and adjoins the shopping centre. The staff were very busy, but still attentive and polite, no complaints at all. Our only criticism would be that the actual restaurant is very bright, with a high ceiling, which does not help the atmosphere, the old Wycombe site was preferable.

We visited pizza express in High Wycombe today for the first time since they moved premises. They should have stayed in their smaller premises as they obviously cannot cope with more customers to look after. Whilst I don't expect 'fast food' service, as I know that all of their pizza bases are frozen balls of dough, I don't expect to have to wait over 25 minutes to be served ! We ordered 3 drinks and had to remind them about the 3rd as they had clearly forgotten .. Although when the lukewarm hot chocolate arrived I assume that it was bringing it to the table that had actually been forgotten. We waited over 25 minutes before we then decided to pay for our drinks and eat elsewhere. When we explained to the Manager that we wished to do this due to the long wait and still no sign of our food, we were not given an apology, merely 'our food is all cooked from fresh'. Had this been preceded with an 'I'm very sorry for the wait' this may have been acceptable but even as we paid for our drinks, not one word of apology was forthcoming. Maybe all of the apologies had been used up on a nearby table where one of the diners was still waiting for her food 15 minutes after her fellow diners had been served!I am sure that pizza express will struggle in their new location as there is plenty of competition close by with more reasonably priced menus and much better customer service, including Frankie and Bennies where we were served our pizzas 'cooked from fresh' within 15 minutes with friendly customer service.Unfortunately I cannot comment on the quality of the food as we left without any arriving!

I booked to visit Pizza Express with my mother and two sons as a treat after we had been to the Pantomime on 18th December. I used the telephone booking system which was easy to use but the times of 430 445 & 5pm were not available to book so we went with the next available time of 515pm. We had a lovely afternoon at the Panto and once this had finished at 420pm we decided to take a very slow walk to Pizza Express..we arrived at 445pm and explained to the lady (who I believed was the manager) that we had a table booked for half hours time and would there be any chance to get seated any earlier. Obviously it was fine if not and we would wait. The downstairs area was not busy and there were plenty of free tables, she told us we could be seated in about 10 mins and told us to wait in the lobby area and gave the children some colouring sheets (no crayons though!!). We waited and decided what we would like from the menu. At 5pm I asked the lady if there would now be a table ready for us as the children were getting thirsty..we were happy to wait to order if need be but just to sit at a proper table & get a drink would have been nice..she was quite short with me but informed me she was waiting for the upstairs area to be opened and would get us seated shortly. During our time waiting in the lobby at least two groups of people arrived and asked for a table even though they had no booking. These groups were all adults and were all seated downstairs. It became apparent that the adults only tables were seated downstairs (ahead of anyone waiting) while anyone with children had to wait and was then sent upstairs!!Around 505pm we were "sent" upstairs to request a table from the waitress. We were the first group of people to arrive upstairs and were soon followed by around 5 or 6 more tables. There was one waitress serving all of these tables who had all arrived at roughly the same time. It was quite clear she was very stressed and couldn't cope with all of the people. After around 15 mins of waiting for the waitress to come and take a drinks order I requested drinks for our table. Bearing in mind we had now been in the restaurant over 40 minutes and hadn't even been offered a drink we were getting pretty fed up despite feeling sorry for how busy the waitress was.The waitress appeared another 10 mins later with our drinks. As the drinks station was near to our table we could see how busy she was and was trying to get round to each table but unfortunately she was not managing to do this in the order of when each table was seated. Despite knowing what we wanted to order before we even had a table 4 other tables orders were taken before ours. Luckily at this point another waitress arrived, she took our orders with a smile on her face, was polite and took an interest in the children and didn't once look like she was stressed out with the customers. The food we ordered was nice and hot, didn't take forever to arrive and was well received. The nice waitress even managed to get my younger son to eat a few more mouthfuls of food!!By the time we got round to a desert order the nice waitress had gone downstairs to work and we almost felt like we were putting the other waitress out asking her for anything. We decided to cut our loses and ask for the bill. It was put on our table almost 10 mins later with no smile, thanks very much or anything! We really felt our lovely afternoon had been ruined by such bad service and rude staff. At this point I heard someone request to speak to the manager and decided I would also like to speak to her. The lady from entrance appeared and spoke to the man on the other table who's grievances where almost the same as ours (although rather than just leaving the Panto, they were on the way there and because of how bad the service was they didn't have time for desert). As the manager walked past (to go to the till) I asked if I could also speak to her for 2 minutes. She took one look at me, snatched the bill out of my hands and walked over to the till. She returned a minute or two later and handed me an amended bill. I wasn't actually after a discount on my bill (we had eaten hardly anything so wasn't worried the cost!!) I just wanted to share with her our experience of how we had been in her restaurant for over 2 hours & had only had 1 drink and a main meal because of the poor service! We appreciate restaurants are busy at this time of year and were more than happy to wait for service but 2 hours to get a drink of coke and pizza is ridiculous!! The managers attitude was absolutely disgusting and the fact that she couldn't even be bothered to hear what we had to say was shocking. She couldn't have cared less about our experience or lack of it. I was so shocked I paid and left..Just getting round to doing a review now, 2 weeks later, I am still angered by her poor customer service and will not be returning to that restaurant again (despite loving pizza express!). I will share my experience with friends and family. Im sure it will make no dent to their sales but hopefully the manager and her staff may be offered some extra training on how to deal with customers and cope when its busy!

I have been a loyal customer of Pizza Express since 1970. I have always appreciated the food, service and decor. Today was the worst experience I have ever had. We booked for seven, had relatives down from the North of EnglandReally terrible. Uncaring waitress. Far too relaxed. Food still hadn't come after an hour and fifteen minutes. Truculent defiant manageress who took issue with the fact that I was clearl.y upset that my guests were let down. And no, I didn't shout at anyone which she accused me of. She even had the nerve to taunt me that had my attitude been different she would have wiped the bill! As if it was ever about the money. Very sad to be treated in such a way by a brand that I and my family have been loyal to for 45 years. im usually impressed by Pizza Express but am rethinking my loyalty to them.

Pizzas taste amazing, everything done superbly and extremely quickly.Staff are very friendly and atmosphere is very family friendly and extremely pleasant.Pizza is a Italian pizza sort which has a nice crust and amazing toppings with flavour.Other pasta dishes are good but some lack flavour like the Bolognese.Desserts are on the extremely pricey side, with some costing more than a starter and main course. And so i am not able to review the dessert as they range for about £6-7 a piece.Impressed, very clean and nice place to eat out.

I went with my daughter and baby grandson for lunch. The staff were extremely cheerful and helpful making sure baby Merlin was comfortable and happy. We ordered our drinks then pondered the menu, we both decided to have a selection of starters and share... We had the pulled pork crockets with Apple sauce, a bit dry so wouldn't have them again.... Garlic bread with cheese, as always tasty and yummy.... Calamari With tartar sauce, the calamari was superbly cooked and tasted great who ever decided on the sauce think bigger please a lovely lemon mayo or aioli would be so much better... Bread with creamy mushrooms was my favourite the mushrooms were amazing and could have had that as a main if you like mushrooms give it a go! We then finished with Baileys coffees perfect ending!

We went here for lunch with other uni classmates (five in total) and it took over an hour and half to order and pay!I would recommend to get more staff for the busy periods as we came late for our lecture, and as we came just around 13:15-13:25 and were leaving just about 14:55! However, staff were helpful and friendly and food was good. Fairly expensive, but we got a student discount, so the price was reasonable. One thing I also did not like is that they charge you for extra red onions (understand like extra cheese or bacon or so, but onions, come on!).

Visited with my son as part of a Halloween night out, and did not regret it. Compared to some other PE's we've been to, this one was clean and welcoming, and the staff were courteous and efficient at all times. The quality of the food was what you would expect from such a large company; uniform across the brand, but still very good, and the pumpkin 'dough balls' with my sone meal were a humour us addition. Overall, you know what to expect in terms of food, but the staff and condition of the restaurant exceed what I have had from other PE's in the past. Good.

We ate here at the weekend and it was out first visit to a Pizza Express. To be honest it was a messy experience. It didn't appear to be too busy, however there was a large children's/family party at one end that were finishing up. I have to say the restaurant acoustics were horrendous. My husband described the noise perfectly as "It sounds like being at a towns swimming pool". It really was, we couldn't hear ourselves speak and our children, who would never normally comment on noise, well even they moaned at how loud it was in there!A friendly waitress took our drinks order and we said we needed a couple more minutes to decide on the food. A minute after our drinks had come, a different waitress arrived to take our drinks order, we said we had just got them thank you and then no one returned for a food order. Two at once then not a soul. After a long wait, I was just about to seek a waitress out when I caught ones eye and she came over. Pizzas ordered with dough balls and garlic bread to start. After another longish wait, the Pizzas came, they'd forgotten to bring the starters. Never mind, these things happen but a pattern was emerging! We asked for some water and that came without a hitch, until a second round of waters came from yet another member of staff, again we said we'd already had them thanks. By this time, we'd had four separate waiting staff and nothing was going right! There seemed to be no management or anyone leading the staff? This must have been the problem, for it wasn't busy at all by this time. The food was okay, it would have been nice to have the chilli oil brought to the table for us to add, as our pizzas were swimming in it. It's a shame that everything was so unorganised as the staff were really friendly. If they'd had been managed well, I'm sure our experience would have not been so chaotic!

As I need to have gluten free food Pizza Express always has a range which is suitable and easy to find on their menu. This was the case in Wycombe but also the waitress was able to answer my questions on the new items of their latest menu. The food was great, the service was better and we really liked the layout and atmosphere in the restaurant with its mix of booths and tables.

Very nice ambiance, especially the first floor has been well designed and nicely laid out. I was welcomed warmly and was given to option to choose a table as there is plenty of space on both floors. Food arrived in no time and it was delicious. I didn't try the desserts but given the quality of the pizza I consumed I am confident that the desserts would be good. Got a 2 for 1 voucher when I paid the bill so I am definitely going in again soon ;-)

It all started well. Food came quickly and service was good. However, i was appalled when it arrived and there were multiple mistakes on the order. When our pizzas arrived , they made the wrong pizza and then made the mistake again! Quite irritating but food eventually was relatively good. What was surprising was i have visited here many times before and it was great but this was a real disappointment and one to forget.
