Since seeing my first play here last week, I have popped back in to the café with my son to warm up after our sip in the Loch! The play, Noel Coward’s Brief Encounter, was fabulous. The cast of seven also dipped in and out of a jazz band on stage that added a beautiful dynamic to the play. We started our evening with supper in the café - delicious soup, a glass of wine and a sweet treat to finish, served by friendly and helpful staff. You can order picnic boxes which give a delightful mix of supper items to fit all dietary requirements. Views over the river Tummel and even to Ben Vrackie on a clear day. The newly redeveloped café and entrance area is a lovely open space to await a performance or just pop in for a coffee and cake whilst visiting the area. There’s outside seating and a little children’s play area as well as a small number of plants for sale from the Explorers Garden which is in the same site; and ticketed separately (£5) and well worth a visit.

Didn't have time to take in a show, sadly, but we wanted to pop in and have a coffee because we'd been here many times in years long gone by. There's been a lot of work done (and is ongoing) to modernise and keep the theatre up to date, but the friendly welcome and great value snacks and drinks thankfully remain the same. Recommended.

"Beautiful" - Carole King musical : quite wonderful, great music and performances; multi-talented cast who provide the music, each playing a variety of instruments. Minimal dialogue, but enough to tell the story and lead into the songs. Not many performances remain this season (ends 28 Sept).

Yesterday, 30th August, I saw your production of the Carole King story..this was by far the best theatrical production I have ever seen and I gave seen hundreds. The extremely talented cast, the stage settings, the choreography, the balance of vocal and instrumentals and every other aspect of a production were first class. Also, the staff in all areas of the theatre were friendly and helpful..we had such a fabulous time and thank you all. EA Mailer

My wife and I booked tickets for pre theatre and for a show. The booking system did not provide details of the menu for the pre theatre meal. On arrival at the restaurant we discovered that there were no other options than pork for a main course and then a banana crumble for dessert…. Oh dear. We are not fans of pork and this serving did not enhance our desire to eat more pork. The staff in general are good people but they lack leadership and general management. It’s a shame because the setting of the theatre is fantastic. Next time we will eat in town before a show.

So... I visited the Theatre to see the Carole King musical, 'Beautiful' (see my five-star review), and my parents had booked pre-theatre dinner at the restaurant there. We used to visit this theatre regularly pre-Covid, and booked dinner when possible, because it was handy for performances, good quality dining, and had themed menus designed for that evening's performance, with illustrations and dishes named after characters - really cute idea, especially since you could buy a menu as a souvenir! This year, however, we were very disappointed to find that when we sat down at our table, not only were dinner customers sitting next to people just there for a cuppa and a snack, but the menu had no options! Just a set menu with no starters, and no vegetarian dishes! Apparently it was cheaper than in previous years (my Dad booked and paid for it) and I assume this is why. I believe the theatre must have asked for dietary info when my Dad booked last year, though had couldn't recall being asked. Anyway... this was very disappointing, and, since I've diabetes, I didn't have the pudding, so it was basically just the main for me. Because of this, I visited the cafe and bought a soup (for an extra fiver). When the main dish came it was Hunter's chicken (I had to ask for it with no cheese), and it was honestly really good (thank goodness!), so we ended up enjoying it. Tea/coffee was self-serve (!), and there was no Earl Grey tea, so I had to visit the cafe yet again for a teabag! (They gave me one for free). The menu was just a slip of laminated paper, but they let us take one away for free anyway! So, a less than ideal experience, but turned out well, thanks to the tasty main course, and lovely and obliging staff! We will definitely think hard about booking dinner there again, though.

Joke of a place, don’t waste your time coming here for food unless you have half a day to spare. No information given as to how long it’s likely to take for food to arrive and no apologies for the wait either. Chilli nachos also weren’t particularly hot when they (eventually!) arrived, complained about this expecting them to be heated and returned to table but they never returned. Clearly incompetent kitchen staff if they can’t cope with making a couple of plates of nachos and a couple of sandwiches.serious lack of basic customer service here. Will NOT be back

The show, Sunshine on Leith, was tremendous but the dining experience was awful. We waited for 45 minutes for sausage rolls and had to keep asking if they were ready, kept being told "10 minutes". Service was very poor and the lady serving did not seem to know what she was doing. When we went in at one, there were very few customers but took ages in a queue . Ran out of sandwiches hence we waited for sausage rolls, at lunch time?????? Place was eventually packed but very little choice of food. Will not to back to eat there again.

Recently saw the production of 'Sunshine on Leith' and was blown away! It was hard to find fault...if there were any, I didn't notice, nor cared. I was hooked right away. The cast were on point. The night we were there the actor playing Davey was unwell and a replacement was needed, the part the night we attended was played by Connor Going, who had just flown in from the States and had half an hour to rehearse with the rest of the crew...Well done, well done to everybody in making it a great night with a standing ovation at the end...you deserved it! Having rented a car for business we were at a bit of a loose end when the business was concluded so did a trip from Perth up to Pitlochry for old times sake. We had been there in the late 90's before we moved to live overseas in Malaysia until early this year. Somehow we got lost and ended up outside the Pitlochry Festival Theatre at lunchtime. The lot of the place as no very enticing and so we considered going back into town to find a café but... parking! On a whim we decided to risk it and sampled the food in the theatre café. Firstly, the staff, two delightful young ladies - Catherine and Glenda, were so helpful and friendly. They described the soup du jour as sweet potato, coconut and chilli. Three foods that didn't really sound like they would combine successfully. I risked it just because it was different. I also had an egg-mayo sandwich. My wife, K, had a cheese scone. We both had tea. The soup was delightful, the sandwich delicious and the cheese scone delectable. The tea was nice, too. An excellent experience at a very reasonable price. Two most satisfied customers walked out to resume our trip. Thank you, Glenda and Catherine - and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
