Mae-Ping Thai Dining in Perth & Kinross

Fabulously welcoming family-run restaurant and so obliging: l was nervous about trying Thai food as l have a nut allergy, and the staff prepared an absolutely delicious nut-free dish for me which really gave me confidence in dining here. SO so friendly, great atmosphere and delicious food.

I came here for dinner with my Dad for the first time and all I can say is, the food is so delicious we were almost drooling at the table, incredible flavours and so tasty. The portion sizes are big and well worth the prices! We will be recommending you to our friends and family! Our waitress was kind and very helpful - we walked out of this restaurant happy, smiling and with full bellies. Thank-you Mae and the wonderful kitchen crew, we will be back for sure.

Restaurant was busy and food took a little while as it’s all cooked fresh to order. This was fine and I didn’t mind as the owner kept us regularly updated on progress and I wasn’t in a hurry. Nice friendly ambiance to catch up with friends and enjoy some lovely authentic Thai food. We had the mixed seafood starter and chicken satay skewers to start with. They came with three excellent dipping sauces and were thoroughly enjoyed. My choice for main was Ginger duck with sticky rice which I’d not tried before. It was superb….great flavour with just the right amount of heat. Service was spot on and staff looked after everyone well on what was a busy night. Overall a superb Thai dining experience which our party thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated and we will be back soon.

Tasty Thai food in a friendly and popular restaurant. We were visiting Perth and were lucky to get a table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Everything is cooked fresh and you can tell by the taste. We had a great evening.

Brilliant night out with fabulous food and great service. The food is all cooked fresh to order so a little waiting time is not a problem and it's never disappointing when it arrives. Staff are so attentive.

Come hungry as you'll leave extremely full of delicious food! We had an extremely tasty meal here for a group of 7 and staff were extremely friendly and attentive, making our only regret that our stomachs weren't bigger so that we could eat more! 2 of our party had to unexpectedly leave quickly, but the team were fantastic about it, very quickly packing up the food and having it ready to go for them! One of the best meals in Perth, and definitely the best Thai food I've had outside (and likely including) of Thailand!

This restaurant is one of the best I've ever been to. EVER! The food is always cooked to perfection and we always appreciate a proper family run restaurant. Special shout out to the Sirloin! Although, everything was fantastic. Places like this are few and far between and deserve all the reviews and recognition in the world. Proper home cooked traditional Thai food, amazing smiley service and incredible value for money. Not much beats Mae Pings!!!

Just had the most amazing food, portions were big, too much for us but we aren't big eaters, staff were happy to bag it up for us to take home. Deep fried ice cream was delicious.Staff were very attentive throughout meal. We will definitely be back. Thank you for an amazing authentic food experience, a true gem in the heart of Perth.

Best local Thai food in Scotland. My family and I were visiting from Norway and were in desperate need of some Thai food. The Airbnb we stayed in suggested this place and THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The family business made everything from scratch, therefore a little waiting time which did not bother us. All the dishes we ate were delicious. A shoutout to the daughter of the owner which was so welcoming and kind.

Fabulous dining experience. The menu had lots of variety and we were spoilt for choice. I had steamed sea bass with plum and ginger. Exquisite. The service was so friendly and polite, adding an extra special element to the evening. I’d certainly eat here again.

This is an amazing spot in Perth that my girlfriend and I went to after driving around in the highlands. Despite staff shortages we received prompt service and delicious food! Would recommend to everyone. Order the stir fry duck dish because they know how to treat that protein really well!

Lovely food served by very friendly waitress, at a very reasonable price - thank you. Perhaps have an alcohol free (AF) beer available for those of us who are driving or who chose not to drink alcohol mid-week, Brewdog makes an excellent range of AF beers and I'm sure these would be popular with your customers.

We really enjoyed the food served at Mae Ping. It’s cooked fresh to order which means if it’s busy you’re most likely going to have to wait. My only criticism would be that whilst you wait it would’ve been nice to have available crackers with a selection of dips. It would at least keep you occupied.

Undoubtedly one of the best spots in Perth! We went for a birthday dinner and couldn’t fault it; the service was brilliant; so friendly, fast and nothing was too much hassle. We ordered two sharing starter platters (for 6 of us) and it was lovely the chicken toast was a real highlight for me! The staff even asked if we could like to make sure there was enough there for all of us on the platter so no one missed out. We all ordered different mains and every single person commented on how fresh the food was, piping hot and absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect; our only issue was we ordered the platters too so we were stuffed! I can’t recommend this highly enough, if you’ve never been before - go and give it a go! You won’t be disappointed 😊

Went here with some friends from my curling club to celebrate the end of the season. As usual, the food was fresh, authentic and delicious with polite and attentive service throughout. We shared a couple of sharing starter platters between the 8 of us then each had a separate main. The Pad Thai was absolutely lovely, very generous portion and wonderful flavours. I think we were here for around 2.5 hours and even mid-week it was reasonably busy, which shows how popular it is. Book ahead to avoid disappointment!

Great food , everything was delicious and cooked fresh to order. The tempura vegetables were good, crispy and light, green Thai curry was so tasty I didn’t want to stop eating! Service was great we felt at home. Highly recommend.

The pad kaprao was delicious and plentiful. It was flavoursome and made to order - I know because I heard the sizzle of the wok and the waiter kindly asked how spicy I would like it. I'd certainly recommend and I'll be returning next time I'm in Perth

Chicken pre cooked. Not cooked in the sauce. Tasted awful. Green Thai curry really fishy. Just aweful!! Too much batter on the starters & ribs chewy without sauce. We’ve had better for £20.!! The owner AND chef called us back to the door in the rain. Asked if we were Thai & knew how to cook! I was astounded The whole thing cost us £100. The experience was just appalling. If this is the best in Perth. You guys need to sort it out! They wanted cash too!!!!

The waitress was friendly and helpful. Advised us, and others around us in a very knowledgeable and supportive manner. My wife and I had the mixed veg combi starter and the combo 3 (seafood) main between us. We were told there would be plenty for 2 and it was perfect, enough to feel full without feeling bloated. The food was very flavoursome, well presented and cooked fresh. Not cheap but not expensive. Will return there again

I'd highly recommend here for anyone who loves thai food. The staff are very attentive the food is always amazing. I have been going here for decades. Favourite Thai restaurant in Scotland. There are others but this one is worth going out of your way to visit! Authentic, family run, always made to feel welcome. I have been to some fairly high end Thai restaurants across the UK and I am yet to experience better Tom Yum or Tom Ka soup anywhere.

The best Thai food outside of Thailand, all freshly cooked. Everything was delicious and we even managed to persuade our children to try lots of things they hadn't tried before. Highly recommended!

My friends and I had an INCREDIBLE meal! I’ve visited Thailand and the food at Mae Ping Thai Dining was authentic and freshly cooked. The service was friendly and the waitresses were honest with customers that the food was going to be a while but it’s all freshly made to order. We were more than happy to wait for delicious food! We will definitely be returning soon!
