I have been here now 4 or 5 times. The food is lovely and fairly priced. The service is good but for thing. Everytime I have been we have been told they need the table and we need to leave! At times the cafe has been completely empty. It cuts short your conversation and feels rude. I would enjoy a second coffee and to leave in my own time when the cafe isn’t busy. I totally understand if there are people booked in or waiting to be seated but it has never felt like that is the case. In fact I’ve past again later to see tables still empty! Surely it is better for the cafe to have tables occupied and people continuing to purchase. They do warn you when booked that you will need to leave but it feels this is overly enforced.

Not one for writing bad reviews but after not a nice experience today feel I need to. My sister ordered scrambled eggs on toast and found a hair in it. Mentioned to the young waitress who couldn't have been any nicer about it and apologised. About 5 minutes later I noticed who I assume is the manager/owner giving my sister the dirtiest look I've ever seen. Made us feel very uncomfortable so we went up to pay and the woman was immediately defensive saying "none of us have dark hair so it can't have been any of us". Do you think we put the hair there or something? Genuinely wasn't trying to cause a fuss but felt the staff needed to know about hair found in food. We said that it was actually inside the scrambled eggs not on top to which she replied "maybe it was inside the actual egg." Seriously? No apology of course. Obviously can't handle any criticism. Maybe you should take some tips from your waitressing staff on customer service.

Enjoyed an excellent and very tasty takeaway afternoon tea from the Post House yesterday, courtesy of our beautiful granddaughters. Great choice of sandwiches, savouries and cakes. Would very much recommend.

2nd time trying to visit here recently . Service wasn’t good last time and ended up walking out this time . Appears very disorganised and chaotic , sad as used to go pretty regular

Not the first time we have had issues with the lady who answers the phones! My grandfather was in hospital and we had to cancel our table for him which was a voucher. she was unsympathetic and un accommodating. It appears she does not like the fact it’s a ‘voucher booking’ and it certainly has put us off ever coming again!

Small place, with nice food. Seemed a bit disorganised when arriving as only one person was able to allocate tables. Food didn't arrive together, but otherwise service was good. Nice decor, nice food. Would go back.

Staff aren't friendly at all, was waiting for service and a group of 3 staff members were standing chatting by the cake counter to the right, which is fair enough if there's nothing to do but when I asked politely to get seated with someone i was meeting with I got given dirty looks for interrupting?

Oh my gosh. Afternoon tea was absolutely!!! It was beautifully and very unusually displayed too. You could tell it was all homemade including the jam. Was so delicious. We actually couldn't finish it all. Venue is small but beautifully decorated. The staff we're amazing and very attentive. Can't wait to go back again!!!! Thank you so much for out wonderful afternoon tea. X

Lovely food, great service, great staff

I've been twice and I genuinely love this place. Don't usually get tea when out and about but it's perfect. The little outside pods are lovely in the cold months and the inside seating area is always warm. They also allow the public to use their toilets as there are none elsewhere in invergowrie. Staff are also very polite. Highly recommended. 6/5

We came here for afternoon tea for my Grans 88th Birthday. Honestly couldn’t fault it, the service was excellent. The food was amazing, great variety and the little cup of soup was such a nice surprise. Very nicely presented too. Will definitely be back to try more of the breakfast/lunch menu as I’ve heard great things!

This is such a hidden wee gem in Dundee. Went for lunch and had a great experience. The menu is very extensive and offers a wide variety of different foods. The breakfast menu is amazing! I had the Post House Stack, which I highly recommend.One of the few times where I have literally thanked the chef as we all enjoyed our meals and felt it was great value for money considering the decent portions. Staff are also lovely! Will definitely be back soon.

Nice atmosphere for a tea it coffee.

Coffee was good. The little sheds were nice to sit in. There all heated. Service was great and staff were really nice.

Had lunch here in one of their wee heated pods. So cosy and food was all amazing, had the butternut squash, chilli and coconut soup with a BLT. Everything was fresh and so tasty. Quick service, took some cakes away because they looked amazing 🌟

Cake was OK. Coffee waas average. Not dog friendly....Not even allowed in the outdoor sheds.

Another lovely visit to post house. The food is always freshly made to order and full of flavour. Make sure to leave space for their coffee and cakes as they are always fab! Wish we had photos to do them justice but we always get stuck in too quick! Thanks again ladies x

We popped in for breakfast today after coming across the cafe on TripAdvisor - and we are glad we did. The wee sheds outside are lovely, particularly on a day like today. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious - but could have done with an extra link sausage, but I won't hold it against them!

We had a good brunch. Food is fresh and service was good. I liked that they serve whipped cream with the scones which is not often here in the UK. I don’t like it when it’s served with clotted cream or butter, heavy. I’ll visit again for the afternoon tea.

We stopped by for a coffee after walking round the delightful nature reserve half a mile away. Morning of a wedding, friends were having brunch. Place was busy. They said we were OK for coffee, but the place was really busy late morning. I can see why they ask for bookings or at least to be seated. Decided we would pop back for breakfast the next day, in at 0900, several around and they gave us one of the outside pods - glazed huts. Service was well paced and friendly, I ordered poached eggs on black pudding and crumpet. Mrs T ordered scrambled egg on sourdough. Tea was proper leaf tea in a pot, her coffee was freshly made. Portions were very generous. Top Tip - either book, or wait to be seated 😇

Went in and sat outside and daughter went to get menu to get told oh you have just seated yourself ' I will have to check my bookings then snippy voice to a young girl we did not know you had to book a cafe for outside as it was quiet at that time. We could not see sign to say wait to be seated as it was inside the women making tea's as coffee seemed stressed and had not a nice manner to staff and my daughter will not be back young girls were very nice and friendly though not the women

Had a lovely Brunch with my wife. Our dishes were total opposites. She had Salmon, scrambled egg on Gluten free toast and mine was 2 Belgian Waffles smothered in cream, Nutella and Oreo crumbs. If it hadn’t been so busy would have licked the plate. Home with a couple of Gluten Free cakes equally scrumy.

Busy lunch spot on the outskirts of Dundee, we tried 3 places who didn’t serve any food before 12 noon so we’re glad to find this place. Food was nice, pricey for what it is, service was quick as they wanted the table back as the place is busy over a lunchtime

What an amazing Afternoon Tea our some of our Choir had today. We had the whole room to ourselves. Nothing was too much bother, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding, and great value. Would definitely recommend,and will be back.

Had breakfast with 2 others eggs Benedict a full Scottish and eggs Colombian we all enjoyed the food very much it was freshly made and plenty of it. Highly recommend! Service was also very good!

We went on an Itison deal. I wasn’t expecting much but WOW, how wrong was I! Friendly welcome. They catered for my Vegetarian/ Gluten free needs. Lovely explanation of how afternoon tea worked. Menu cards were a great touch. I had sandwiches, falafel x4 and 5 mini cakes. My Husband had sandwiches, sausage roll, cakes and a scone. Unlimited tea. Service was great and we gave a tip. I knocked a point off for it being cold and I had to keep my coat on. It would appear the radiators are small and I’m not sure if they were on? We would highly recommend and will return very soon.

Visited with my mother for afternoon tea with an ITISON voucher. The food was excellent, well filled sandwiches, sausage roll, seafood cocktail in a small glass, scone with lovely jam and cream, plus another 4 cakes. Cakes not too big and vgood variety. All attractively presented.

Just been here for afternoon tea and once again we were not disappointed. Everything served was just lovely. The sandwiches were so full and tasty. There was just enough of everything and left feeling full! Staff are very attentive and we were even remembered from our last visit that must have been about 10 months ago. Brilliant. Exceptional service in a warm friendly atmosphere. We had Prosecco afternoon tea which was superb although it was too much to eat at one sitting. We were given food containers to take our uneaten food home. Definitely worth a visit, and we'll be back.

Wanted to go somewhere nice for a wee tea and a cake after a day out and found The Post House on Google. Not great parking but it did look lovely and we had a good time. Little pods outside for people to sit and dogs were welcome to sit outside (not in pods).

A great place to stop and chill

Was fantastic as always, great food and staff. They go out of their way to assist customers, we were a party of 4 for brunch and I wanted to "tweek" my choice adding poached eggs to the mushrooms on toast (which was fantastic I might add), no problem at all. Would HIGHLY recommend

I've been for a coffee, bacon baps and catch up with old Dundonian friends twice in two days (Friday and Saturday morning) On both days we were not made to feel very welcome, time limit of 30 minutes given for a table and told they would be need the table in 5 minutes while we were just finishing up. One lady was even grumpy with my husband while asking if we'd like to add a tip! We usually do...for GOOD service. Food and coffee were nice and relatively inexpensive. The experience did not make going back to my daughter's local cafe attractive. Even if you are having a bad day, don't take it out on others!

Made a telephone booking yesterday morning for the pod at 12.30 When I arrived the staff were talking amongst themselves and over heard my surname. I chirped up that was me and was met with unfriendly mumbles...... turned out they had cancelled my booking by...

We had to complain and walk out after seeing the staff using her bare hand to pick up my cakes. Before she picked up my cake she was handling another customers cash. She claim that she washed her hands, but unfortunately for her I was watching her throughout. Hopefully they read this review and learn how not to handle food.

Please give this little gem in invergowrie a try, and you will definitely have many returns as food amazing plus the cakes delicious.

A huge drop in quality. Saturday morning, booked table for 10am, coffees were overly milky or very weak coffee. These came in a reasonable time 5 mins maybe a little longer. Ordered food at the same time as the coffee, which arrived 45 minutes later, now if the food was off the chart, fair enough, but the sausages, were more meal than meat and over cooked , the "smoked" bacon was not tasty and also overcooked, I like crispy bacon but this was not crispy, just looked like it had been sitting for 20 min in the warmer, black pudding was ok, but did not seem like a quality product. Eggs were cooked perfectly, but tasteless, grilled tomatoes were under cooked, beans were ok, but hard to mess up beans. Finally gave up on breakfast and went to pay, and as is usual was asked how everything was, I did say that we did wait an long time and was going to say that the food was disappointing, but didn't get the chance as the server seemed somewhat afronted that I mentioned the time it took, and rather than apologize told me "It's Saturday morning we are very busy and every order is cooked from fresh", clearly making an excuse rather than owning what I said or apologize, I saw no point in mentioning the quality of the food served. I have been to the Post House on a few occasions before and yes there can be a wait for food, but never so long and the food was worth waiting for. On this occasion the 45 minutes wait was excessive and the food not worth the wait. Lowering the food quality is not the answer if you are busy. I won't be back until I hear that the food quality is of a reasonable standard at least.

Went because of the good reviews but we were really disappointed because of a few things. We got a chai latte each, waffles with banana and eggs royale. - Chai latte was really too sweet, so I asked for mine to be re-done. The server came and apologised as he "added too much syrup". He was polite and nice about it. - We asked for some tap water which never came. We had to ask again for it and eventually got the water. - My friend asked for "no whipped cream" with her waffles. The waffles came and had whipped cream, and it was overcooked so it was quite hard. She asked for this to be done again. The waffles came again but it was drenched in syrup so it was too sweet for her to finish, she asked me to help her finish it because it was too sweet, so I didn't like it either. - We then asked for the receipt and was given the receipt for a different table so we were really confused. After all of that they didn't apologise for everything the things that went wrong, and we didn't get a discount for the breakfast as a gesture or anything. I don't know if it's because they have new servers or something. The female server that we had didn't get us the water, and didn't make sure that our order was right, and also got the wrong receipt for us. Whereas the male server got us the water and apologised when he gave me the new chai latte. The staff were overall, polite. But we will not be back again.
