My first time in since the rebrand and I was pleasantly surprised, Great fresh faces behind the bar . The staff friendly and efficient, Thank you to David who was especially quick and always made sure I wasn’t waiting long for my drinks , The atmosphere was lively in the early evening and was a great place to start the night.

David was amazing with his service made us feel very welcome and was so polite

I had a wonderful time at Signal Box in Reading. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It’s a great spot whether you're meeting friends or grabbing a bite. I recommend it, and I will definitely be back!

Popped in for a couple of drinks on the way back to the station. Clean and tidy venue. Great environment and bar staff team, very friendly and gave every customer the time of day. The General Manager David was a star, nothing was too much trouble and he makes a cracking Negroni!

The food was lovely. I have an allergy, and the chef, Bradley, took the time to come and discuss the menu and ensured that he could make what we wanted with no issues.

Amazing personable service. On arrival the bar chap was process a large group order, however, immediately gave me recognition and apologised for any delay...no problem for me. Some confusion with my order which was promptly resolved and the food presentation and quality was delicious. I wanted to suggest some feedback, as I understood that the menu was newly introduced. As a former hotelier I always welcomed good feed back too.. Bradley, head chef, afforded me the opportunity to chat about my experience, so what a refreshing change to see..he's so passionate, an absolute star and an asset to this establishment. Best of luck everyone you have the right attitude and customer service to make this place amazing.

The food overall was just okay, but several things really let it down. The mac and cheese wasn’t very nice at all — bland and lacking flavour. We were offered mushy peas, but they didn’t have any, the onion rings we ordered weren’t available either, and the salad came with no dressing. We ordered some chips to come with our mains and there seemed to be some sort of bean in the chip bowl which was very strange and off-putting. Dishes came out one at a time, with a 45-minute gap between the first and last, which made it impossible to enjoy the meal together. That kind of service really isn’t acceptable in a sit-down restaurant. There was just one person working — taking orders, making drinks behind the bar, and serving food. It was clear he was doing his absolute best, but the restaurant was massively understaffed, and it showed. We had booked a table for nine people two weeks in advance, so they knew we were coming and should’ve been prepared. Management really needs to step up and make sure more than one person is scheduled to work in situations like this. To be fair, when we raised our concerns, the server kindly took the late dishes off the bill, which we appreciated — but overall, it still wasn’t a great experience.

Absolutely appalling!!!!. Went on a Saturday evening around about 5pm ordered a pint of cruzcampo and beef chilli nachos. The food took over 40 minutes to come out and we ordered just nachos. When our nachos eventually came out we received no napkins or cutlery. We then asked a member of staff politely for them and we got told "did she not bring them" when the member of staff brought the cutlery she just slammed the container on the table. Really disappointed Absolutely terrible service. Do not go unless you want to feel you are like in a fawlty towers episode

Booked a bottomless brunch a month in advance but showed up and the staff didn't know how to put it through the till... So we sat there for an hour waiting for them to figure it out but they never did. We left after an hour. It was a Saturday but it was very quiet in the bar - I think the bar staff were waiting for their manager or something to put it through on the till? Luckily we were able to do a bottomless brunch at a different place in Reading. We were looking forward to coming here but it's a shame they didn't honour our booking. 🤷‍♀️

What a huge disappointment. Visited yesterday 29/03/25 after making a reservation and reviewing the menu before our arrival - it looked amazing. We ordered a "Chicken Schnitzel Caesar salad" - I wish I'd taken photos to upload - it was a schnitzel cut up into 4 quarters on a bed of limp salad leaves and nothing else - no dressing even after asking for dressing and the menu stating Caesar dressing - my friend didn't get cutlery - by the time she had finished the next lunch plate came out. It wasn't even busy in there. I chose a "large plate" (as described on the menu) and was sharing it...the portion size was ridiculous. I'd say the flat bread was all of 8" in diameter with one skinny kebab stick containing 4 bits of chicken and one piece of chorizo. The meal came out after the other two so none of us ate together (apart from the flatbread and only because we were sharing). I can't believe what I was given having paid £15.75! There are so many good places to go in Reading - I would definitely NOT recommend The Signal Box! Oh, and to top it all - there was no candy floss on the cocktail I ordered - after it was made and served I was told they had no candy floss!

Walked in, seen if you leave a good review you get a free shots, walked out. Place must have serious issues if that’s the only way to get people to say something good about it.

At the last reading festival, a blond waitress who didn't even look old enough to work at a bar poured a drink. Said waitress proceeded to throw up in the bin before she even handed me the drink. Never coming here again.

Overall the experience was good but for me personally, I felt let down by the "Tartar Sauce" It wasn't a sauce, it was a small bowl of cut up onion, capers and perhaps garlic with a little mayonaise it took th edge of my fish & chips, which would have otherwise been really good.

Went there yesterday for a pint - stayed for food. Simply amazing experience! We had a manager called Ben or Mitch (Not sure lol) look after us, and he could not have been more acomodating! Will definetely look to come again!

Dead atmosphere. Ordered three espresso martinis and they messed one up with Bailey's to get us to "test their new recipe". If that's the case it should be free. This place is done. Can't make a cocktail and f'd with our order.

Luca does the best cocktails in Berkshire, so ask for him! Knows how to invent new cocktails to suit particular tastes. Great atmosphere too. Highly recommended.

Just awful. Two of the bar staff had clearly never poured a drink before and the third guy was just really rude and kept wondering off and chatting to the other customers in the middle of serving two pints! The lager was too warm (tried two different brands) and they didn't seem to have any of the drinks/ingredients for cocktails that the next pair were trying to get. It took about 15 minutes to actually get served and this was despite the fact that there were only four people trying to buy drinks and three members of staff serving. Dreadful.

Was greeted with a friendly smile upon entering and made feel like I was the only customer even though it was really lively and busy. Food was excelent and atmosphere lovely. Found my fav Reading spot!

Went in for a drink tonight with a friend, so many flys in the bar, both myself and my friends had flys in our drinks. Staff didn't really seem to care about the situation nor cared about leaving the bar unattended for 10 minutes while smoking..

Sad feel about the place. Unpleasant drinks in dirty glasses. Mentioned the lime and sodas looked like dentists’ mouthwash and the barman agreed, shrugging his shoulders. The flies are also a bit of a nuisance. Only good thing was the DJ. She was good.

What's not to like. Bar staff forgot our orders for ten minutes. Managed to fail to make lime and sodas. Luckily the whole place smelt of toilets and bleach which distracted us from the fruit flies. 10/10 on all fronts.

El kebab era solo pollo seco y chorizo barato en un pan plano seco, acompañado de nada más. ¡El barman admitió entonces que no tenían los artículos que debería haber tenido! Así que traje un tazón de ensalada mixta en su lugar... el trozo estaba soso y seco. Peor aún, el lugar estaba lleno de pequeñas moscas... aparentemente estaban conscientes y esperando que alguien las arreglara, pero no eran un peligro para la salud. El lugar había bajado colina abajo, lo cual es una pena...

Don't want to be one of THOSE people... but when you're charging near £7 a pint, at least pour it right (and to the top)! Other than that, quite nice atmosphere, decent food.

Great after work drinks, our law firm company forgot to book. However staff provided a lovely space for us none the less. It was a great atmosphere and we highly recommend, lovely decorations and felt cosy and welcomed. The wine and food was delicious! Affordable and good for the value if you want quality experience.
