Visited today and it was full of flies everywhere! We had to cover our drinks and leave

Was there this evening, the place has hundreds of flies everywhere! It's absolutely disgusting, and what's worse is looking at other reviews it's been that way for a while! Avoid!!

This spot is absolutely amazing, and the decor is super cute! It has such a cozy and inviting vibe that makes it a perfect place to hang out. I enjoyed my time there so much that I couldn’t wait to tell my friends all about it. They’re already making plans to check it out and experience it for themselves. The atmosphere is perfect for a casual meet-up or just relaxing, and it definitely stands out as a unique gem. I’m sure my girls will love it just as much as I did, and I can’t wait to go back soon!

I had such a great experience at the Signal Box in Reading. The decor is exquisite and the food is absolutely phenomenal keep it up! Will defiantly visit again!

Went in for a drink tonight with a friend, so many flys in the bar, both myself and my friends had flys in our drinks. Staff didn't really seem to care about the situation nor cared about leaving the bar unattended for 10 minutes while smoking..

Sad feel about the place. Unpleasant drinks in dirty glasses. Mentioned the lime and sodas looked like dentists’ mouthwash and the barman agreed, shrugging his shoulders. The flies are also a bit of a nuisance. Only good thing was the DJ. She was good.

What's not to like. Bar staff forgot our orders for ten minutes. Managed to fail to make lime and sodas. Luckily the whole place smelt of toilets and bleach which distracted us from the fruit flies. 10/10 on all fronts.

Don't want to be one of THOSE people... but when you're charging near £7 a pint, at least pour it right (and to the top)! Other than that, quite nice atmosphere, decent food.

Suave and sophisticated. Love the colours it brings a beautiful ambience to the place. Came here with the family during the day for food and drinks and it was delightful. I’ve been in for a works do also and it was quite Accommodating and friendly

Great after work drinks, our law firm company forgot to book. However staff provided a lovely space for us none the less. It was a great atmosphere and we highly recommend, lovely decorations and felt cosy and welcomed. The wine and food was delicious! Affordable and good for the value if you want quality experience. We will be back again.

Christmas work meal party of 75, arrived early staff were very accommodating place was clean and food was fresh and service was outstanding. Will be back for our New Year’s party !xxx

We booked for dinner for my nephew's 23rd birthday. The staff were wonderful and set a table up early for me as I arrived before the booking time. However, the tablecloth was filthy and there were fruit flies everywhere! The wine and beer stains all over the table won't have helped with the fly situation, and also the bar itself had so much drink spilt all over it that it would definitely have exacerbated the issue. There were dozens of fruit flies around the bar area each time I went up and the bar wasn't wiped at all. I asked for a menu and even that was sticky with alcohol spillages. We didn't end up ordering food because the flies were so annoying. We left and went to a different restaurant, even though it was pouring with rain, which shows how keen we were to leave! I feel sad for the staff as they are all trying their best and were really polite and accommodating. But clearly something needs to be done about cleanliness.

No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente no solo era la comida encantadora el personal aquí va más allá para ayudar. Soy un comedor tan quisquilloso y un poco de un fenómeno de la salud la encantadora joven amigable no podría ayudarme lo suficiente con mi elección de menú. Mi pareja amó los cócteles que sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Terrible bar staff, short measured on wine and the way pints were poured with huge head a child could have done better.

Really lovely atmosphere and insanely good food! The staff are what made the experience though, they were all so upbeat and lovely and really made the entire family meal just that little bit more special!

Drink orders wrong. Food over an hour with pathetic excuse of "beyond my control". Knew of 30min wait but after that management and staff next to useless

We arrived early for our lunch with family members and were hoping to get a hot drink. Apologies were given as the coffee machine was broken and we were offered other drinks.  We were shown to our table by a lovely Celtic sounding lady, who offered us an additional chair for our bags. The rest of our family joined us, and we ordered. Again, our lovely lady took our menu choices and confirmed them.  We did wait a long time for our starters; however, they were tasty. Our main courses were served very soon, perhaps too soon, afterwards. Two members of our party had the Pan-Fried Sea Bass and both commented that the fish was very nice but on the whole the potatoes (four large potatoes not crushed potatoes) and mangetout (there were no green beans or peas) were very dry and would have benefitted with the white wine butter sauce which again seemed missing. The other dishes were not all presented with the complements as listed on the menu. After eating another lady approached our table and asked if everything was satisfactory. One of our party politely mentioned the shortcomings of our meals and was greeted by the reply "SHAME" and walked off! We certainly didn't feel like ordering any desserts. When we asked for the bill, we were just told a total, for which no breakdown was given, and expected to pay. A couple of members of our party asked for a breakdown, of the charges, which was eventually produced. This breakdown was carefully checked and when paid no receipt of payment was produced. We all left feeling rather disappointed as we had had high expectations.

Gone absolutely down the toilet since it changed hands and became the Signal Box. Toilets always flooded, barmaids not knowing how to pour a pint of Guinness, lack of beer choices (many were off tap), a random Photo Booth, staff always on their phones and there is no decor (or random bits and bobs with no thought). A complete disappointment. At least pitcher and piano made some sort of effort.

Overall the experience was good but for me personally, I felt let down by the "Tartar Sauce" It wasn't a sauce, it was a small bowl of cut up onion, capers and perhaps garlic with a little mayonaise it took th edge of my fish & chips, which would have otherwise been really good.

Met up with some friends one Saturday afternoon a few weeks back. Didn't try any food, but they have a great selection of beer & the decor/atmosphere is good. Recommended 👍🏻

Apparently, this place has recently refurbished to try to shake off a bad reputation. That's failed. No atmosphere - no one in there and a member of the bar staff who seems to think telling customers at the bar that she can't serve them because she's making cocktails is the way forward. Awful place and it won't be open for long at this rate!

Female staff member 19/09/24 (evening time about 20:47)out the back talking on her mobile phone while customers were waiting at the bar. Had to ask her male colleague if she was free to serve

Popped in tonight for a few drinks and was throughly impressed with the venue. The female bartender was quick and punctual even with the amount of customers (some being very nasty) and orders and had a smile the entire time while doing so. Will definitely be back in the near future lovely bar and staff! Would recommend to anyone! Thank you for the splendid experience.

Visited pitcher and piano for a work lunch & sip and paint event. It was a table of 15, they declined a pre order booking. The food took 2.5 hours to come, the orders came wrong, the size of the peas with the fish and chips was ridiculously small and the chicken kebab was so bad it had to get sent back. That afternoon the venue was understaffed, with one person doing drinks and running food but they knew a table of 15 was attending. They did, to resolve the issues take the kebab off the bill, reduced the bill by 50% and provided a round of drinks on the house. Don't go here for the food!

I have been into The Signal Box twice before this evening,Always had a very positive experience with the staff and the restaurant. Me and hubby decided we would call in for a drink and I am very glad we did. Me and my husband are very big on supporting places that aren’t big chains and we are very glad to say this will be our new favourite place without fail. The women that served us this evening the nicest person I have interacted with I asked her name but forgot she was either Scottish or Irish if that helps. Please pass on how amazing her service was and for anyone wanting to try out please come in even for the service. There was also 2 other staff members this evening also so so friendly and very helpful. I hope the owner passes this on to the staff members and a big thank you for helping us find our new favourite place😉

Pub was pretty empty and we thought it was a win to pop in before going to Reading Festival. It took ages to be served. 1 girl on tills who was really slow. Then food and drink orders had to be placed separately. Food was not coming out quickly, tables were not being cleared.... Food finally arrived after over 50 minutes - one reason given was one group of lads had all been ordering breakfasts, another reason given (to another couple) was that lots of staff were on holiday??? (So on Reading's busiest weekend of the year no contingency was put in place to ensure enough staff? Questionable!) Needless to say we missed the first act we had wanted to see at the festival despite coming in for food early enough to get there in time. #fuming

Fantastic place! We came here a while back and witnessed a brilliant management of a terrible table of awful people making horrific demands. The staff here navigated it perfectly, despite the unnecessarily nasty review that followed. Anyway- today we popped in and were given fabulously gorgeous service by beautiful Ella (who deserves a pay rise- they all do!) who was very kind to us and wanted to celebrate our upcoming honeymoon in style! We came in last week and I just popped in for some lunch the other day and had to write a review, the owner was so lovely and professional. The staff are well trained and can see well looked after. Highly recommend the food, was fresh and temperature just right, enjoyed a few cocktails on our work outing and heard about a rebrand we are excited !

What an experience we had. Beautifully organised bottomless brunch. From drinks to food. Everything was perfect and it really made our day. Food was delicious as well as the non stop drinks. Staff were lovely and service centre was great too.

I Was over in reading visiting my daughter and was recommended pitcher and piano for bottomless brunch. Well what can I say other than amazing. We were greeted by the most loveliest server who was both professional and so friendly. We were so impressed we went back the following day had the fantastic cocktails. Keep the good work up pitcher and piano as we will definitely be back when we return to reading.

We saw this place as we're walking from the station. It looked nice and we checked the lunch time deals. Food was good and tasty. Service was good and attentive.

Great to see Drew back - such a charming fella, shame the make over hasn't happened yet !! We were all looking forward to the relaunch party !! but the ladies of the group were loving the little touch of flowers on the tables, the new menu looks great already know what I will be ordering off the 'Large Plates' !! We all had already eaten before coming in but will definitely be back soon to try the new menu.

Staff friendly but place tired and needs a revamp. Sadly not best quality food for the price. Nice to hear the piano but needs to be softly played in the day so you can hear each other speak!

Food was okay, however considering how empty the place was during lunch time taking an hour and a half to get food to our table, along with one of our party just getting the wrong order. Would not recommend this place for food. I could maybe recommend a few very expensive drives whilst you wait for a train. But I would steer clear for buying food

Run down with TERRIBLE staff attitude. Clearly from training or lack of.

It was dirty. The floors were dusty, the glasses had marks all over them. All but one of the staff we came across were poor. The man who brought our food out kept leaving the restaurant to vape and speak loudly down the phone, right by the front door, in eye (and ear) shot of us. We requested some Ketchup with our meals and he came back just before we'd finished claiming "he hadn't forgotten", whilst proudly setting down 2 pots of mayonnaise, not Ketchup 🙃. Price point and quality of the food was fine, but overall a real shame. Quite scummy to be honest.

Great evening out with a group of 8 friends. Was a rather busy dinner hour but Christina handled it very well, keeping up with communication on how long our wait for food would be. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced (we had a mixture of all the ‘small bites’) can recommend ☺️

Myself & husband enjoyed an evening with great food & drinks but what really makes it special is the lovely people who work there. Christina is an absolute joy, very professional with a lovely warm nature. There was also a really great barman whose name I didn't get but he said he hadn't been working there long. We'll definitely be back soon. Oh and the Karaoke was an added bonus. Thank you.

I and my friend had been served by lovely girl - Shaaks. We just walked in from the street as fancy some lunch. Had a great lunch deal and delicious food. Shaaks and her friend behind the bar also suggested some drinks. They asked as our preferences and customised drinks for us. The food was great but Shaaks’s and the bartender’s service made the time extra special. Thank you x

Came in randomly on a day off, was greeted warmly by Sacha and Christina. They looked after me from my arrival until I left hours later. Would definitely recommend going and asking for Sacha and Christina to look after you
