We went for breakfast but breakfast was over by the hour so we chose from the brunch menu instead. We ordered English breakfast and avocado toast. They served it on hot plates and the taste and presentation were great. It has a very sweet view in terms of location, a small green area and a church view.

Lovely food as always. Tried the corn ribs which were delicious. Kasia gave us very good service with a smile.

Pretty good. Somehow this is a restaurant with a sense of mystery and eccentricity. Minus 1 star because the cat:dog ratio was not as good as I would like. Ditch some of the funky dog statues, and it's 5 stars.

Visited today with my newborn son and mum for lunch. The food was really good and I wish I got our servers name as she was so lovely! Will definitely be coming again, staff were very accommodating of fitting in the pushchair for the sleeping baby! Lovely vibe in there in general.

Food was great, good vegan options and as someone with food allergies the labelling of dishes was reassuring. The pancakes were sooooo filling. I'm usually a clean plate club member but they were just so fluffy that I got half way through my stack and was so full that I had to get my husband to finish it. (After he'd eaten their full breakfast)

I love going to this restaurant, everything is very good , good choice of food , nice drinks.

Lots of style but lacking a bit in substance tbh. I don't know why people say the portions are good. I had a three course meal and left a little hungry. The real issue however was the weird service. They started over attentive even. Asking if I want another drink when I still had half a drink left. Then, suddenly, nothing. All staff stopped serving. There had been no unfriendly interactions or anything. My server just disappeared and I think they had no plans to pass tables over. I bet I could have walked out and nobody would have noticed I didn't pay. I finally had to track someone down to pay the bill after politely waiting 30 minutes. It's was expensive for what I got and the service was just weird. I won't be trying this chain again with so many other options out there tbh. What I did get was tasty, I'll admit. But there's a lot of tasty food out there to deal with this cost with such weird yo-yo service.

We were very impressed with our visit to Bill's. The weekend brunch mains were absolutely delicious (Bill's Big Brunch and Steak Egg & Chips), very well priced for the quality and amount of food. The doughnuts and coffee (in afternoon treats section) was genuinely delightful and absolutely worth the £6.65 as a coffee alone is £3.90. To top off the afternoon, we decided on an Elderflower & Bramble Spritz and Strawberry Margarita, both cocktails looked and tasted great. Slightly on the strong side but that's not a bad thing. The service was impeccable, the manager Iwona made sure we were well looked after. Our server was amazing, checking in on us regularly throughout and upon seeing our dog, she immediately gave him a water bowl and a dog menu to us. Table/plate clearing was very prompt compared to other restaurants so bonus points there. Fantastic weekend brunch - it has our stamp of approval.

Tried to go and have breakfast as most other restaurants weren't open at this time. We were met by an out of breath, scruffy and annoyed woman. Asked if we had a reservation...for breakfast? who reserves for breakfast? She said it would at least an hour wait and told us that maybe Côte may be open. I said, sure, ok thanks, most places aren't open yet as they usually open at 11:00am. Then an obnoxious scruffy male worker piped up and shrugged saying he didn't know about other places. I replied to him saying, yes clearly you work here but in general, restaurants open at 11:00am, which is why we came here because we knew it would be open. He smirked, laughed at me then shrugged again. After this we just left. Awful service, awful scruffy staff and the place smelled bad.

Food was lovely and Judy how busy it was everyone else in Reading thinks so too.

Really nice, the food was delicious, the atmosphere is just amazing, we were in love with the decoration. The staff were super friendly and kind. For sure we recommend and we will be back Dogs friendly 👏🏻

Oh it was delightful. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was just what Sunday mornings are meant for.

We’ve been to Bill’s before but this was the first time in Reading. It’s in a beautifully old building though unfortunately overall we were underwhelmed. The service was faultless, very attentive, polite accommodating and responsive. Despite booking we had to wait 30 minutes for our table with others, cramped in the hallway/stairwell. Overall the place lacked the air of cleanliness and was very chaotic. The food was more bland previously experienced and not hot enough. There was an imbalance in ratio of pancake to topping, which meant that there was a lot of bland pancake to get through without accompanying fruit etc despite trying to make it look pretty. Be aware that the “pancake syrup” is NOT pure maple syrup. This was obvious in taste too and felt a bit deceptive as maple syrup was mentioned elsewhere on the menu. This place is well suited for those with kids or larger groups less concerned with quality and more with a having a gathering with food. There are plenty of options and they cater for different dietary needs.

I went to this restaurant twice, once for dinner with my husband on my birthday last year and once for lunch with a friend yesterday. Both times I received very poor service from one particular member of staff. On both occasions she was the only one who seemed very stern, not smiling, ignoring our table to take our order and any request many times, even though she looked over and saw we needed a waitress, this was on both visits so it seems to be her style, interactions when they do happen, are very brief and no conversation happens, yesterday she put the bill on the table by saying nothing and slapping the paper down on the table loudly. All other staff are really friendly and you can see good atmosphere with them, but it seems to be one person who makes the visit here not so enjoyable. We love the location, the food and everything about Bills but I believe one person needs their customer service training

A very sophisticated restaurant that served high quality of meals

Food was lovely, however today we were not greeted for a while when we entered. We had to find a member of staff to request a table. Unfortunately, the female staff member who sat us was very rude and unwelcoming, not to just us but to other guests surrounding in the area. The glass of water given to us was dirty and stained from the dishwasher which was offputting. For the price of the breakfast, I would have preffered to be welcomed and spoken to more professionally. Dissappointly we will not be back.

I'm giving a 2 cause when the right food came it was nice. But it did not need to be this stressful. I booked the table in advance with a note that one of my party of 4 have an orange allergy and this was myself. It was fairly busy and first server we had was lovely and bar one wrong drink that was quickly resolved no issue. Another server came to take our food order and it was downhill from here. She tells us to order quickly and she feels hostile. We order and purposefully point to item on the menu as we say it. She does not repeat our order back to us. She hurriedly takes the menus then as shes leaving asks "any allergies" I reply yes and say my orange allergy. She asks "Orange or orange juice?" I say Oranges overall, she repeats the question asking which is it. I reply oranges including fruit and juice, she says its not a main allergen. I say I know this and its not the first time I was there and know not to order things that could risk it. I was then told they couldnt garuntee what I had wouldnt have oranges. I had ordered a big bills brunch. Food comes out later and half of my friends order is wrong. He asks for it to be changed, it was also his drink that was wrong the first time. The server comes back hostile saying "No, this is what you ordered! I repeated the order back to you two times!" She had not. I know that cause her vibes had made me so uncomfortable I was aware enough I can repeat back the conversations word for word. My friend is bafflrd for a moment, he had been very nice about it only to be mey with aggression. He replied that he hadnt ordered it. She replied "So you dont want to eat this lovely food!?". No, because its not what he ordered and I was very agitated by this and said no I heard he didnt order that she replies again going "Well what will it take for you to eat it?" My friend says If he could get the houmous that was at least meant to come with what he ordered he would be happy. She says okay but glares at me. After a while he gets his whole original order. Later on my other friend orders a coffee and are nearly given someone elses having to insist only one was ordered. She was perfectly polite to my other friend but not me and my friend whos order she got wrong. And normally I would look past it as a fluke but considering she is only hostile to the only 2 brown people at the table consistently I kind of cant look past that. Especially as she continued to scowl as she was walking past us at times. We get to the bill and another staff member brings the bill and we are given a bill that is double what we ordered for, has items we certainly didnt order and doesnt have some of the items we did. We immeadiately flag it up and say this is not our bill. That staff member apologises and goes to get the server as he says she will print it off again. Could it have been an honest mistake with a busy shift, maybe. But with the whole experience thus far I wouldnt be suprised if it was purposeful. She eventually comes over with a card reader and we split evenly 4 ways. As the reciepts come out they are held out to us and my friend is handed hers, the rest of us reach for ours when put infrojt of us only for them to be chucked onto the table centimeters from our fingers... Overall I'm not going to forget that experience. We were at the start of the meal talkinf about coming again for pancakes and frankly I defo wont be now and doubt I would go again or take any of my other friends or family. It was stressful for no real reason and I'm quite dissapointed

Un montón de opciones de bebidas deliciosas también - un montón de opciones saludables, deliciosas sin alcohol. El servicio era excelente - muy amable. Para colmo, tenía un precio muy razonable. También hay un descuento de tarjeta Blue Light.

very quick to deliver and friendly staff

Tuvimos una maravillosa comida de Navidad para 37 personas en Bill's Reading. Desde la reserva hasta el evento real todo fue una operación sin problemas. Tuvimos que reservar una semana antes, pero era muy simple. Por la noche el equipo era muy acogedor y profesional. El ambiente era justo y la comida deliciosa. Todo salió caliente y el equipo fue muy organizado en servir cada uno de los cursos en el momento adecuado. No hubo errores, lo que es casi inaudito con un grupo de este tamaño.

Our office Christmas dinner at Bill's Reading was fantastic! We were absolutely blown away by the exceptional service and the outstanding quality of the food. The festive atmosphere was perfectly captured by the spot-on environment and delightful Christmas decor. Highly recommended!

Our favourite place to catch up in Reading! Always greeted with a warm welcoming smile. The food is superb and the options are plentiful.

Had some really nice fluffy pancakes here. Not enough syrup or bacon but I asked for extra. Coffee was good too.

Bit noisy and extremely busy, understandably due to time of year. Great menu options as usual. However, just 2 prawns in a prawn cocktail was a bit rubbish. Really felt like the 3 course option was very obviously squeezed a little too far to make it work financially. Wouldn't put me off going again but would probably swerve the 3 course offer.

Good food, albeit the Xmas dinner was slightly lacking in gravy, but they supplied more. Good service by cheery staff.

Great Christmas meal, lovely food & a great atmosphere!

I always love the atmosphere at Bill’s, with its vibrant decorations and incredibly friendly staff. This time, I tried their Christmas menu: beetroot salad for the starter, sea bass for the main course, and chocolate and orange tart for dessert. All I can say is that it was absolutely beautiful! The dishes were simple yet rich in flavor. Highly recommended!

Very nice place and environment, a bit noisy but it was full, so it's normal. Service was ok, polite staff but not too friendly, felt like they were a bit on a rush but it's understandable when it's busy. Food and drink was amazing as always, big quantities, good quality and everything we saw that we didn't order looked delicious too!

The Christmas menu has only 1 vegan option and it doesn’t have protein. I recommend the chefs to google “vegan recipes”, they will be surprised of the amount of ingredients they never heard of! There’s what the cows eat to get their protein called “grains” there’s also something called “legumes” with many varieties you’ll be amazed. There’s also this thing called “seitan” and processed legumes but that’s coming from other cultures like “tofu” or “tempeh”. Happy discovery!

Last minute visit for a good old burger and chips, did not disappear. Left feeling full and satisfied.

I went for a English Breakfast even though it was lunchtime and it worked, the food didn’t disappoint - well seasoned and fair quantities, a nice freshly squeezed orange juice next to it and all of the in about £20, which I think isn’t fair price The service was a bit on the slow side but to be fair the place was quite busy I must say that looking at the food some of the other people got, I’m certainly going to be back for the pancakes - they looked amazing

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Bills is one of my favourite restaurants but this particular visit was not great. The waitress was really miserable and got 2 drinks orders wrong and it was really noisy, so could not have a conversation with my friends. Lastly the toilets were disgusting and smelly

Great venue in the middle of town. Very noisy (but it was half term) and we went because the kids ate free. Good value for money. Best to book.

The place is really pretty, and the food was with us fast. Unfortunately the service was a bit messy and none of our food arrived at the same time, also our server came around a bit too often taking plates away etc. Unfortunately both our coffees weren’t very good, and my partner found a hair in his breakfast bowl… Also there are extra charges at the end, which includes VAT and a service charge…

Let the whole company down. Service so slow - bordered on totally unacceptable. Food cold. Are you staff trained? From Today’s experience - not sure.

Not recommended for food. Ordered a rump steak, it was cold, my friend ordered a fish pie and his side-chips were "fridge" cold.. Nice space and decoration, but definitely not recommended for lunch/dinner/breakfast as quality is very bad.

My daughter and I had the pancakes. Mine the fruit option my daughter had bacon and syrup. They where amazing. Also had one and half year old granddaughter with us who enjoyed the children's pasta dish.

The restaurant stinks, especially on the staircase near the loos.

This Bills is in a really attractive building with great interior decor. It is dog friendly which is a big plus point for me! Good food, friendly and helpful staff giving excellent service.

Dreadful experience.. ok it was a large group but we had preordered our food which arrived 2 hours after being seated. My food was cold and the on duty manager was beyond rude when I wanted to leave and pay separately to the rest of the group. I couldn’t get out of there quick enough

It was absolutely brilliant night catching up with my old Army buddies 50 years after we joined up.

We were looked after exceptionally well by the Reading team last night who went above and beyond to accommodate us and my grandma, who isn't too mobile. Food was delicious as always! Highly recommend

Good food. Best banoffee sundae!!! The bourbon bbq burger has a little pipette to add your own bourbon...which is great if you don't actually want to add it and just want to bbq burger. Only complaint...is the coffee was not hot, but that could just be my personal preference for liking hot coffee. We've been for brunch before too...and will go back again.

Sunday brunch. Booking of 6. 6 drinks ordered, 5 meals ordered. A pretty simple booking. 1 of the drinks was wrong. 3 of the meals were wrong. The bill was wrong. Not very good service despite a relatively small booking! Food wise- chicken and pancakes were really not great. The pancakes are fine but the chicken was very poor quality and tasted worse than a cheap supermarket frozen breaded cutlet. I'd be shocked to learn this isn't what was used! Wouldn't recommended coming here, plenty of better places in Reading

The food is exceptional in terms of composition and portions. The house has charm.

Food was decent and came quite quickly. However, pancakes were overcooked and dry with very little syrup and had to be sent back. In addition, I dislike anywhere where 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill. The customer should have the choice to choose their level of tip

Decided to go straight from work with a friend for lunch at Bills today for 2:30. Had booked online and we were offered tables in and out. We decided to sit outside and the lovely lady arranged the table and umbrellas to protect us in case there was rain. Delicious meal with excellent menu. We had lots of staff at various times as we didn’t leave until 7:00pm! (Talking you see.) At no point were we made to feel like we had over stayed our welcome. We were not harassed or asked to go and all the staff were exceptional. I love the relaxed atmosphere at Bills and would recommend to everyone.

Went to Bills for breakfast. 2 adults and 1 child. We had BILL'S BIG BRUNCH, EGGS AVOCADO FLORENTINE and a children’s pancake stack. We had booked that was fine. 1st problem as a dirty glass on the table. Told the waiter and a clean one was given. The waitress started to talk to us then turned her head and body to do something behind her whilst still talking. We could not hear/understand her, so she had to repeat her conversation. No apology for turning away. We were warned that the plates were hot. They were not, just about warm, and after about 2-3 minutes all the plates were cold. The coffee was luke warm and had to be drunk straight away. Bills big brunch, the bacon was insipid. The eggs were just about cooked but certainly not warm. The toast was probably sour dough bread and was like biting into a very hard biscuit. The only hot food of this meal was the tomatoes as they retain heat. Avocado meal. Bun barely cooked, eggs not properly cooked. And not very hot either. Children's meal. Thick pancakes, very little syrup, blueberries not cut in half. These should be done as blueberries can be a chocking hazard for a child. Not once during the meal did anyone ask if everything was alright. The bill came and we asked for the service charge to be removed, which was done. Now a visit to the toilets. On the way to the toilets, food on the floor at the main entrance and no one cleared up. Only 1 toilet working, ladies, food and tissues on the floor. So overall not a place to visit again. This is the second time this year we have been and was hoping for a change. Nope that did not happen. Will not be coming back any time soon.

Quite good food, friendly and polite service, but a lot of noise and loud music that made our stay in the place difficult.

I have not been to Bills in a bit. It was mostly average. The menu didn't really excite any of us. We did end up having deserts, including the banoffi Sunday, which was more like a cheese cake in a bowl, with a small scoop of ice cream. The team did a pretty good job looking after us, but did seem absent at times. Oddly, the ability to pay online, with a great way to split the bill was a highlight.

Great breakfast. The only reason I didn't give a 5 was because we both felt that the bacon had been cooked for too long.

Probably best breakfast in Reading. Great selection and all very high quality, which is reflected in the price. Good friendly service but frustrating that the 12.5% tip was automatically added and because you pay via the QR code it's not easy to opt out.

Love Bill's for a nice brunch spot, the coffee is always decent and we love the pancakes here for a nice treat! Great for families and couples, there's pretty much something for everyone on the menu. Service can sometimes be a bit slow at busy times , but worth the wait!

A very good place with good menu options and beautifully prepared and presented food. Good service too. Busy at lunch time, with good reason! Update: today's visit was a great lunch. Brilliant Brunch Sharwama. The service was quick. Our server was rather rude though. She sneered when I didn't want anything while I waited ten minutes for my friend. And when the bill came, she wanted me to have it even though I was the guest of my friend. When my friend paid with her card, the server tried to give the receipt to me, even though I wasn't paying. What the heck? It was a surprise because the people working here are generally excellent.
