Pinocchio's in East Staffordshire

We love Pinocchio’s! Beautiful food in a relaxed, friendly (and occasionally noisy!) environment. It’s a great place for a romantic meal, a meal with family or a large group celebrating an occasion. Meals are not over complicated, but done very very well. Big selection of food with a decent array of drinks too. We continue to return to Pinocchios, one of our favourite restaurants.

I lived in Burton 30 years ago and I used to love Pinocchio's then. I was back there last night for a family birthday (8 of us). The manager and staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. I had a starter and main, and both of them were original, delicious and plentiful. I almost wish I'd not had a starter as there was so much of each. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a large party of 23, food all came out hot and efficiently. I was very impressed with the vegan option. The soup was packed with vegetables and tasted superb. The vegan cheesecake was amazing and a large portion for once! If they can give decent portions, wish other places would too.

Hard to know where to start. It has to be around 25 years since we last set foot in Pinocchios. It was very enjoyable back then, if my memory serves me correctly. We left the local area over 20 years ago but still have regular contact with friends who do live in the Burton area. It was our turn to meet our friends in Burton, and they suggested Pinocchios for our yearly meeting on their turf. All I can say to those friends is 'thank you'. My wife and I love Italian cuisine, and Pinocchio's has to rank up there with some of the best Italian restaurants it has been our pleasure to dine at. Walk through the door and the atmosphere and aroma grabs you. Brilliant. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Brilliant. Service, second to none. Brilliant. Menu, comprehensive whilst not overwhelming you with choice. Brilliant. Quality of food, out of this world. Brilliant. If my roots were not so firmly planted where we have now lived for over 20 years, I would consider moving back to the Burton area just to be closer to Pinocchio's. OK, that last bit was a joke. But, seriously, anyone who enjoys wonderful Italian food, served in a wonderful atmosphere, by dedicated and friendly staff, look no further. Pinocchio's should be your 'go to ' place. We will be back sometime.

Never had a bad meal in this restaurant, have visited many times and the team are warm and welcoming, food has always been fresh and great. Never had a bad time. Would massively recommend !

Visited here after a recommendation from a colleague. It’s very homely, very busy with great staff & the food utterly delicious! Cannot recommend highly enough & will return again when next in Burton!

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Burton. We had the 3 course set menu, which also includes the specials on the board. I had baby mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto ham, cannelloni and Nutella pancakes with ice cream. Main came piping hot and was r really delicious. Staff fabulous, as always, and the final bill was really reasonable. All 3 of us really enjoyed our meals and had a lovely evening.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant! The service is always amazing, it is a lovely family run Italian resturant with delicious food. We have been visiting this place for a few years now and it has never disappointed. I would 100% recommend trying the vanilla cheesecake for dessert :)

A great family restaurant. We've been coming here for years for special occasions like birthdays and occasional post-drinks late dinners. We are always made to feel welcome and nothing is roo much trouble. We visited with family including 3 young children last night. Children were welcomed and spoken to with respect (we find this is sadly rare), we all felt welcome and relaxed. Service was exactly the right pace and very polite and efficient. Portions large as always (one reason we come here - we never leave hungry!) and food excellent all round. Children's meals large which was great for our hungry lot. Drinks are reasonably priced for a restaurant, thank you for keeping them reasonable - we buy more this way anyway! It was a busy night, it's been fully booked every time we've been in and we have actually struggled to get a table recently so book well in advance. All in all a brilliant evening and great food and service. Top notch.

Love this restaurant, so family oriented, really enjoyed the meal, but unfortunately had to miss out on dessert, all contained dairy and chocolate. Maybe they could serve sorbet instead of ice cream with fresh fruit.

Visited after many years and was not very good. Tasteless is quite possibly the best way to describe it. Bruschetta: the ciabatta was not even toasted so the tomatoes made it soggy and it came with browned packet salad. Lasagne al Forno was tasteless and greasy: the pasta was raw and the layers were not adequately filled and it was clearly heated up in the microwave before serving. Sirloin steak was cheap meat that was requested to be cooked medium rare but it was more like a skirt steak that was well done and the Mussels are not fresh and tasted fishy. Whoever is responsible for ordering their food is cutting corners and whoever the chefs are, they’re certainly not experienced in authentic Italian cooking as they do not flavour anything. Disappointed as this used to be such a great place that served good food, now they’re just tight with basic cooks and it truly shows.

I went their last night 22nd September with my daughter and her fella. The staff were fantastic and exceptionally friendly. The food was excellent. Make sure you're hungry when you go as the portions are good and the prices are very good. Definitely go again

We were staying in Burton for the weekend and the first night we were looking for somewhere nice to eat and we found this little gem! The portion sizes are brilliant you definitely will not leave hungry still! We did the 3 courses for £24 well worth the money!

So this was the first time I’d been to an Italian restaurant where there was no offer of black pepper. Might sound petty but is kind of an expectation when at an Italian restaurant. When I did ask for some I got a plastic dispenser straight from the supermarket placed on the table, minus a smile, so was obviously seen as a hindrance. As for dessert, where do I start. Three tiramisu’s ordered and only one serving left. What Italian restaurant runs out of their number one dessert. That’s like going to McDonald’s and they have no burgers. I personally waited several minutes for my dessert whilst the rest of the family devoured theirs before asking if mine was on its way. The waitress with no smile obviously couldn’t be bothered to write mine down so after another couple of minutes it arrived. Now these points may seem a little excessive but when you are spending over £150 on a school night I’d expect a little better customer service. Would I go again, definitely not, would I recommend it, probably not.

We picked this restaurant from a list of 10 best restaurants in Burton. It was 20 minutes walk from our hotel and walking in we couldn’t have been more delighted. The restaurant was busy and the ambiance was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was extensive with a good choice. Sadly it is unlikely that we will visit Burton again but I would go the this restaurant again and would recommend it to anyone else.

It's just so consistent everytime we've been, perfect food and perfect friendly service from entry to exit. Just can't believe I've never considered it for so many years and called in on the off chance and just keep going back.

Visited here on a Saturday night after watching Blackpool play Derby . Lovely food , priced well and big portions . Staff were great and a good atmosphere , very good value for money .

I have been here many times and it never disappoints. Always great food and service. My salmon off the specials board and the cheesecake for desert were delicious. Also covid safe with sanitiser on every table. will look forward to the next visit.

Absolutely stunned at how good it was, got to go back again to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. I had a king prawn starter and a fillet steak main course that I couldn’t pronounce, it was just incredible. My wife had garlic mushrooms starter...

We had a take away Friday evening and it was fabulous. Staff went the extra mile by giving us cutlery as we were at a hotel. Food was delicious, on time and very hot in temp.

My starter Funghi Diavola had no taste to it. My main, Lasagne al Forno was a solid block of layers of pasta with very little bolognais sauce or meat... no cheese sauce. It was stodgy. Very disappointed.

Again.. hidden Gem, absolutely amazing food, Carbonara is to die for, must go to place in Burton. Get a few beers in at the Bridge in first..

Visited this place last year and the food was excellent as was the overall experience. This year we went back and it was not the same. Service was very good as were the starters, however the pizzas send overly “heavy” and undercooked. Authentic Italian pizza is usually thin crust with a crisp base - ours were very doughy and not crispy at all. Disappointing. This place has good staff and a lively atmosphere but we would seek somewhere else next time for more authentic wood oven pizza.

Had the set menu starters were nice the mains were great but tbe sweets were to die for the cheezecakes are divine

The food and service was excellent but we were by the window, whether this made any difference, but my feet were like blocks of ice by the time we left. My pizza was served on a very cold plate, the reason given was that they don't put salad on a hot plate - put it in a bowl on the side and keep the pizza warm for longer.

Almost everything about this restaurant is brilliant. Food is delicious, staff are friendly and it is moderately priced for all this. Only downside, is they pack a lot of tables into a small restaurant and it is always very warm and loud. Other than that, highly recommended.

Internet search for Italian restaurant found this absolute gem. It was a busy Friday night & we hadn't booked but owners & staff couldn't be more welcoming. The bustling traditional restaurant, with open kitchen saw the attentive staff & owner serve us brilliant selection of freshly cooked food in a timely manner & all with a smile.

We’ve been here several times with friends and always had good food and service. Last night was no exception. It was really busy but the service was still friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere and food to suit both meat eaters and vegetarians. Midweek you can take your own wine.

I went on a Tuesday night and it was busy - always a good sign. Usual Italian menu; really nothing special on there. They had a separate specials board and a set menu as well as A La Carte.

Went to a genuine Italian Restaurant to try a genuine Italian Pizza. I tried their “house special “. What a disappointment, short on toppings and not very tasty at all. I have seen better toppings in Morrisons for £4 a time. The rest of the party had an enjoyable Italian meal but they avoided the Pizza. So will I in future. The restaurant service was excellent. The value was general good and you can take your own wine with you in the week nights. Over all the others in the party were very happy it was just the Pizza wasn’t to be recommended as a special.

A must for anyone visiting Burton on Trent, got to be the Best Italian restaurant in town, and having the close range of a great little boozer The Bridge round the corner makes for a great evening

Popped in for tea while staying overnight on business in a local hotel. Immediately impressed by the warm welcome from the two young ladies who were front of house. Opted for garlic prawns and house special pizza (tuna, onion, egg) both of which were delicious and great value for money. Will definitely return if/when in the area again.

Eat here for the first time at the weekend. The food was absolutely delicious and the service very friendly and efficient....i can't wait to go back! Also, anywhere that has pancakes on the menu for dessert has my vote!!

What a superb Italian Restaurant in a town best known for beer! I made my second and third visits this week and the food is always of a very high quality. Friendly staff, fresh I gredients cooked to order and a great choice. The chef and staff deserve at least one Michelin star! If you are anywhere near Burton you must try it.

Came here with my husband fri night, we were running late and a quick call to them to say and they moved our time no problem. Staff really friendly. We found the menu to be very good value, £20 for 3 courses, portions very big and tasty. We will defo be returning

Second time here , first last year was excellent , but not this time , , food was poor chicken stringing , to pay £48 for 3 courses for 2 and a half a glass of wine each was poor value

This was a late booking for my husbands birthday and we were so pleased they could fit us in. The restaurant was really busy with couples and a large retirement party but we weren't kept waiting. The whole meal was perfect. Amazing food too. We had the 3 course set menu and the portions were huge! The desserts were to die for! Lovely staff friendly and welcoming. We would definitely return if we are in Burton again, and recommend it to our friends.

Six of us ate here last Saturday (after visiting Escape Time!) and had a superb meal. The staff were very friendly, helpful and really effiecient. The food was to die for and I can't remember eating out anywhere else where the food has been soooo hot that we couldn't eat it straight away. 10/10 for this!

Another fantastic night out at Pinocchio's Italian. They were very busy so we were right to book well in advance - always a good sign! We biioed at 8pm and they had tun out of a few if their specials board options, but still loads of menu choice...I went for the gorgeous steak (again again..) and it was superb. They are a little shy on giving decent portions of veg with the dishes, but it's still value for money even with a slight lack of greens. Nice staff, good selection of wines and beers and a very good menu to choose from. Didn't mind waiting a little for main courses, as they were packed and every member of staff was at full tilt. A great experience once again, thanks you!

Third visit, restaurant very busy, great atmosphere. Extensive menu and specials board, service efficient and friendly. Food timing very good, piping hot and overall first class. We opted vegan, which was excellent, highly recommended for a great place to visit.

We visited the restaurant on a busy Saturday night for my birthday. We were seated with a drink before we went to our table. As always there was plenty of choice from the menu and the specials board. My husband plumped for the steak and I chose the salmon. Both were lovely and my husband said it was a great steak. Desserts were chocolate fudge cake (gorgeous) and tiramisu. Always a lovely meal here and friendly service too.

No problem getting us in when we hadn't booked. Very friendly and efficient staff and manager, never felt rushed. Just me and my son went and it was very enjoyable.

Have visited Burton several times before but never eaten at this place until this evening - don't miss it! Really good wine selection - pizza was superb. My friend had the seafood pasta and it was wonderful. Service was brilliant - a hidden gem.

Together with my work colleagues we visited Pinocchio for a dinner during the week. It was last minute booking so I really appreciate that the restaurant found some space for us. The service was slow but professional- we had to wait for our main courses and desserts a while as was so busy. I think that my starter/ main course was ok but need a bit more seasoning and desserts was great.

We're now eating here very regularly, can't fault the authenticity of the food, lovely Italian wine, piping hot meals, good service, happy staff (always a good sign!). Started to go thru their menu but found several meals we really like so its going to be a long job to get to the pizza's. Pinocchio's is not local to us but we certainly don't mind the drive.

I decided to go with a few friends to an Italian restaurant in Burton on Trent

I went with a group of ladies on a wednesday evening.We were all cold and most of us found it very difficult to even read the the menu as it was far too dark. It spoilt an otherwise good evening as the food was excellent.but my legs were cold even though I had tights and trousers on,, and my friend was shivering! I am partially sighted and being in the dark was a bit difficult for me. Im not so sure I'd want to return.

Really enjoyed my special birthday meal here. Four adults on a Saturday evening. The place was busy. Service very good. Set meal £19.95 for three course was great value. Lots of choice that included most dishes off the specials board. Will certainly go back.

I took my wife here last night for a special birthday which was last week but Pinochios was still shut for Christmas so we delayed because we have been here before and it always been great. We had 3 courses the first being prawn cocktail. I can honestly say the prawns had no taste they were like frozen ones from the supermarket. My wife had chicken in white sauce which she said was ok. I had chicken in a pancake with sauce. The sauce was just ok but the chicken had not taken any of the flavoures it was as if they had just put bland chicken pieces and put the sauce on top.i don’t normally write reviews but restaurants should not get away with serving food like this. The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the sweet was nice but you can’t really go wrong with ice cream and cheese cake.

2 days driving around Swadlincote and environs and I get back to the hotel tired but needing to eat...you know that feeling. But I needed something worth eating otherwise I wouldn't bother. Up the road was an Italian restaurant so i thought I would try it out. Managed to get a table for one...they looked full. So let's ignore the mismatched classic Italian wall and ceiling painting decor and the Pinocchio's name above the door. The place was buzzing...always a good sign...and the front of house staff were coping really well.

Ate here on Friday 23rd November. From start to finish it was perfect. The food was delicious, generous portions and super tasty. The waitresses were incredibly friendly and helpful, and attentive to our every need even before we were, at some points! Reasonably priced too, with plenty of choice. An absolute gem - will definitely return!

This is a great restaurant with a family history. Great beer and wine to compliment a great menu of fresh cooked tasty food. Excellent place to visit

We do like to come here but we had friends up from the south. They had a sign outside that allowed you to bring your own wine during the week and with Aldi around the corner and there award winning wine it seemed a good idea to pop there first. Restaurant is nice and quiet and the food is delicious and good portion size. Servers are friendly and efficient. At weekends would recommend booking but during the week you can usually just turn up.

I had the Penne al Forno - a chef speciality, apparently. The chicken was from frozen and all I could taste from the dish was the power of about 20 garlics. Don’t get me wrong, I love garlic, but when all you can taste in a dish is this, something is wrong. Despite being really hungry, I barely ate any of the dish - less than a third (after trying very hard to do so). I would have said it to the waitress but as she had made so many errors with drinks and starters etc prior to the food coming out I had given up at this point. I adore Italian food but this place is bad food and bad service.

I returned to Pinocchios for my birthday evening meal, we'd been a few times previous but don't get much chance to get over to Burton. Really good portions and really tasty food. Always a great buzz in here no matter what night of the week, by far my favourite Italian Restaurant.

I like the idea of Pinocchio’s. The waiting staff are very friendly and the place is full, so it must be doing something right. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong meals.

We’ve been going to Pinocchio’s now for years and every time the food, service and atmosphere are magic. Marianna and the team are brilliant and make everyone feel like they just stepped into Verona with a warm smile and exceptional service.

Visited a few times and the food never fails. It's wonderful. The prices are cheap, especially for what is on offer. Only downside to this particular visit was the waiting times. I can appreciate the food is cooked from scratch but 2 hours for 2 courses was a bit much, also waited 25 minutes for the dessert menu that never materialised. A bit quicker and it would have definitely been 5 stars. Overall it was a pleasant evening with wonderful reasonably priced food. Highly recommend.

Went there on Saturday 7th July for our wedding anniversary and to be honest the restaurant looks tired, the net curtains are absolutely filthy and black, the table we were put on seemed to be just plonked in the middle of the room with there being a party there at the same time, i thought that wearing flip-flops by one of the waitresses was inappropriate also 1 of the waitresses was wearing "holely" jeans, and the barman was wearing shorts !!! I accept it was hot but surely there should be a "classier" standard of dress. i must say though the meal came out Hot and was very good value for money but as a special occassion i shall be thinking twice about going back there.

Found this family run Italian Restaurant a few years ago & was instantly impressed. Have visited it many times since & the standard of the food (which is freshly cooked to order in front of you), the friendliness of the Staff and general ambiance of the place never fails to please us. Other people must feel the same as although we usually go mid-week the restaurant always appears well attended & pre-booking a table advisable. Paid another visit this week & yet again another lovely meal, beautifully cooked & served by very friendly attentive Staff.

Found this restaurant on a visit last year. The food is superb and the ambience is great. Enjoy your visit. You cannot go wrong with prices that are so reasonable

We was staying over night in Burton upon Trent looked on tripadvisor and Pinocchio's had a good review We were not disappointed very good meal and lovely staff. Would recommend and will go again if we stay in that area again

This was my first visit, I visited with a group of work colleagues, what an amazing meal. 3courses for an amazing price. The whole meal was delightful especially the dessert. We all said we would be visiting again for sure.

This restaurant is ideal for couples and groups alike. There is a vast choice from either an a la carte or a set menu. The food is of a very high quality at a very reasonable price. There is a lovely atmosphere and outstanding service from very friendly staff.

Family of 6 dine for £17.95pp for 3 course meal on a Thursday and you can bring your own wine.

The food here is average - it really is nothing special. It's okay, it does the job and is good value. You can get 3 courses for £20, which is fairly impressive. I'm not sure why it has such high ratings to be honest. The staff are welcoming and attentive, but I wouldn't be returning here.

It’s always nice to find a family run restaurant where people are passionate about providing great customer service. The food is lovely and the restaurant clearly benefits from regular repeat customers and you can see why. Service is attentive but not fussy, portions are good and the food is high quality. We will definitely be visiting again.
