Great Food, authentic Italian at a reasonable price. Excellent service, venue is extremely clean and cheerful. Fantistico!

We used to look forward to a trip here. Sadly the last couple times have been disappointing. On this occasion the portions were a bit small and the food wasn’t particularly hot. Also, the sauces were a bit watery, as if they were reheated from frozen. It’s such a shame as we want to see this place doing well. Service was nice and friendly though

My favourite restaurant in Uttoxeter. The food is always amazing and the Tiramisu is so good no amount of words do it justice.

Book a table! We visited on the strength of other reviews and it was excellent. No pizzas on the menu (unless we missed them), which pushed the kids to try some of the pasta-dishes, which did not disappoint. Finished off with some proper gelato (can recommend the coffee flavour).

This place feels like a proper Italian restaurant that you would visit if you were on holiday in Italy. The menu is not extensive but it is full of quality. Wine is also sold by the litre bottle at £20, so excellent value and again good quality. Very friendly staff and a nice warm friendly vibe about the place. Highly recommended and we will return

Our family enjoyed amazing Italian food here at the weekend and found the whole experience to be just perfect. The staff were very courteous and friendly and the food was faultless. The portion sizes were very generous and the 1 litre bottle of white wine for £20 was great value. We would all recommend Mario's whatever the occasion and will definitely be returning!

Once again, thank you Jo and Mario for a great meal. Lovely people, excellent food. One tip for would-be diners, booking is essential. The place is only open from Thursday to Saturday in the evenings and it is rightly popular.

A group of us recently ate here and everyone really enjoyed the food at a nice family run local restaurant. The Staff were great and so helpful & friendly. We will definitely be back.

Basically a shop front converted into a restaurant with tables and chairs however the food and service was great so I look forward to going back!

Had a superb meal here last Friday when visiting Uttoxeter for the races The four of us all enjoye dour food very much, in fact we all thought it was superb Booked online so that was easy Shown to table, staff were pleasant, chatty and helpful, place is clean and toilets were good Ordered drinks first, they quickly arrived Starters were chesey garlic bread, bruscetta between us and they were very tasty, garlic bread was nice and chewy with loads of garlic and cheese Mains were simpy superb, I had the ragu and wow, you'd think it was cooking for a week, loads of meat, very rich, super tasty, was brilliant My wife had the salmon special which she said was cooked to perfection the isdes were super tasty, especially the potatoes Our friends also enjoyed their mains very much, although I can't quite remember what they had but both gave a massive thumbs up The desserts looked tasty, in fact my wife really wanted the coffee ice cream but was too full from her starter and main, she was gutted All in all a brillian tmeal, good value with great stuff I fully recommend and would go back in a heart beat if I'm in Uttoxeter again - well done

In December, I enjoyed dinner with friends at Mario's in Uttoxeter. Delicious food, excellent portion size, friendly staff, fab service, characterful decor and a cosy/relaxing atmosphere. I'll be back again soon.

Really authentic Italian food. Friendly efficient waiting. The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the loudness of one table that made our own conversation impossible.

Absolutely lovely and friendly staff. Very accommodating and service oriented people who knew what they were doing. Good for date night, and a nice meal out. The portions were generous and priced reasonably, and the flavours, well presented in the food. The breaded mushrooms were thinly battered and well cooked. We'll definitely be back again.

Open the door, step back to Italy. Mouthwatering pasta cooked to perfection. The reason we have more than one hole in your belt is for restaurants like Mario's. Undo the belt a bit and eat. Located on Bridge Street, Uttoxeter. Cheeky parking across the way or parking in the spaces opposite Waitrose. The pasta was cooked in a freshly made sauce and I asked for extra spice (Al Arribiatta) and it made my mouth water. Order with a side of garlic bread to mop up that fabulous sauce. Come. Eat. Undo your belt.

When on holiday in the area recently, we thankfully discovered this fabulous restaurant which sadly at present is only open for takeaway. We ordered a takeaway on two occasions, both times the service and food was excellent. We were given a collection time, the food was ready on time, was great value but more importantly was delicious with great portions. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Booked a takeaway from Mario's tonight. Fantastic food and very generous portion size. The Tagliatelle Alla Chef was amazing. We both really enjoyed our food and would highly recommend this restaurant.

It was my birthday on the weekend and we decided to celebrate, in lockdown, with a take away from Mario's Cafe. It was a great decision!As always, the food was incredible, what a great way to have a lovely meal, even in lockdownby the way their lockdown safety measures are superb.

Had a takeaway from Mario's after a recommendation from family. Wow!!! The food was amazing. Very tasty and delicately flavoured, with huge portions. We will be ordering food from Mario's again and look forward to eating in when things return to normal.

Wow, the food is incredible. Melt in your mouth magic.The cheesy garlic bread is stunningly good.We also had the beef medallions, which comes with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli and afterwards the profrierolls for pudding are heavenly.....They provide everything in great lockdown Takeaway boxes.Go to the website to see the booking/collecting system. Perfect timing on collection meal was excellent authentic Italian food at its best in small market town.

Restricted to six by the government we celebrated a 60th Birthday takeaway style with delicious mains, sides, and desserts. Generous portions and all to the high standard we have experience when we could dine in the restaurant.

The service was excellent, and the food was delicious, piping hot, will certainly go there again, would highly recommend it.

We were saddened when, like so many other places, Mario's closed their doors when the government ordered restaurants to stop selling. Well we were delighted they are now back doing takeaway meals Thursday through Saturday evenings. the deal is you phone between 12 and 2 pm the day before to book your meal and slot for the following day and then choose a timeslot for collection.We had bruschettas with 'Tagliatelle a la Chef' and 'Polpette', two of each and the kids also had gelato and sorbet for dessert. Portions were as generous as in the restaurant and the service, when we came to collect, was slick and professional but keeping the personal touch that we value when we have eaten in. The food was delicious too.

We have just returned home after our first visit to Marios....... why did it take us so long living in the area to find this gem of a restaurant???? Lovely little , intimate restaurant, with fab layout of tables ..... so personal, with charming staff . If you want a quick in and out nosh , this is not for you ..... but if you love amazing , freshly cooked food , with sensational flavours you won’t be disappointed!!! All at a very affordable price too !! I cannot recommend highly enough !

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic date night meal here. Great atmosphere, the staff so pleasant and appeared happy unlike many restaurant staff. Preferred the smaller tabled atmosphere so didn’t feel like a cattle market. Finally a lovely restaurant in Uttoxeter

Visited many Italian Restaurants over the years on my working travels across the UK and Europe. Must rate Mario's highly lovely food cleanliness and service. Definitely visit again when in the area.

We drove past this evening following a cinema visit with our teenage son. My husband who has an excellent eye for a great little place to eat had me drive around the block so we could check it out again. We decided we liked the look of it, parked and went in. My husband wasn’t wrong. Great little place with a great atmosphere and really lovely, authentic food from a small but perfectly formed menu. Friendly service too. We’ll definitely return.

We have driven past Mario's many times without realising it was a cosy little Italian.Having spotted a post by friend on Facebook we decided to give it a try. We booked (Friday night) and it was a good job we did as it was full.Food clearly freshly cooked was delicious. There was a wide range of food including pastas and meat dishes plus specials. Our only complaint (if you can call it that) was portions were too big!Staff were friendly, happy and smiley and looked after us well.Cost for 4 of us including starters, mains, w x desserts and a number of alcoholic drinks was £129...overall pretty good value.We will be back soon as there are plenty of different dishes we want to try.

A night out with my lovely lady. The surroundings are great, the service was good from all the staff and, most importantly, the food was excellent. We both had different options and all were highly recommended.Having lived in Italy for a while I can vouch that this is a very Italian menu with just a few accomodations for British customers - great.Definitely worth a visit! We'll certainly be going again.

Friday night in Uttoxeter chucking down with rain. Very welcoming comfortable Italian place Mario’s. We both had starters and mains all excellent. Recommend the meatballs starter. Lost a star as we thought it was bit expensive. We will be back as food so good.

Delicate textures punchy flavours! Wow this restaurant is a must the food and service was excellent. Also a few surprises as specials were amazing. Simple menu but it works, this little Italian concentrates on quality and flavours rather than quantity. Put simply it equals or betters my favourite Italian in Edinburgh. No frills no nonsense just simple beautiful food.

It's probably the best Italian I've had in the last few years! Extremely good! 👍🏼

Always smells an blames the neighbours

It was suggested as a meeting place by friends. My partner and I had never tried it before as the outside doesn't look very appealing.However, we were pleasantly surprised..The service was excellent and the food was superb.My only small criticism is the acoustics. Our evening was shared by a group of a dozen women elsewhere in the restaurant, and it was sometimes difficult to hold a comfortable conversation in our foursome.A tad pricey with wine etc, but as I said, the food was lovely.

We were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival. Mario's has nice decor, the food is lovely, the girls waiting on were polite.we'll be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu

Firstly the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly! Restaurant was good for the space they had available. I had the spaghetti Bolognese which was a little bland but generally nice. My partner had a gluten free option which she loved. Would definitely recommend and revisit.

Visited for a night out with friends, all of us had different dishes and all were lovey and beautifully presented. Its definitely well worth a visit. Service friendly with no rush, cant recommend this place enough.

We had been travelling for 5 hours as staying in Uttoxeter for the night. We arrived at around 8.45pm and walked past Mario's. As it was late we checked if they were still serving and the kind lady said they finished at 9pm but would be happy to accommodate the 2 of us.

A genuinely lovely place! Food was delicious and service was prompt (great when you have a hungry 3 year old) staff were so friendly & couldn’t do enough for us! We are from the North East but staying in the area as we are visiting Alton Towers. It is also our daughters 13th Birthday so we wanted somewhere to have a nice birthday meal. Finally got round to trying Marios for a friends birthday and it did not disappoint. Easy booking, friendly staff, intimate and cosy atmosphere. Good value, home cooked food. Much better than any chain Italian restaurant.

Excellent, the food here is made freshly to order, a good range of starters, main courses and deserts, they always have a specials board also, Mario's is licensed so its a great place for a 'date' night out, a family gathering or a party BUT you need to book in advance as it always busy, enjoy

This was our 1st visit to Mario's and we would certainly come again. A family run business, they definitely know what they're doing. Friendly and attentive and the food was excellent and not too pricey. We didn' t have to wait too long for food as it was all freshly prepared to order.

On three occasions I have visited this establishment 'hidden' down Balance Street.

I had a starter of the meatballs and all i can say is wow. The sauce is indescribable. the best meatballs ever. Had the spaghetti for a main which was alright, my sister had a lasagna which looked perfect. Altogether it was a great night, thank you!

Welcoming staff, fantastic food!

We booked but arrived almost an hour early, they were very accommodating and although warning us our order maybe delayed we were so comfortable we didn’t notice any delay. The food was superb and was matched the service. Would highly recommend booking this restaurant and hope to visit again

We reviewed this restaurant 4 years ago and it is still as good if not better than when it first opened.9 Adults and 3 2 year olds went for a birthday meal they made us feel welcome and the food was as usual excellent.The staff are always very helpful and nothing is to much trouble..Well done.Also you must try the ice cream very Italian yum.
