Lovely cafe in the middle of a beautiful high street in Bedale. Lots of GF options. Very friendly and polite staff. Food is yummy and freshly baked. Helped to keep my lively daughter entertained and quiet with a children’s book.

We weren't happy with our visit because it was crazy over-priced (this coming from people who live in London) and not very tasty - everything a bit dry. Excessive butter on sandwiches. Coffee was too bitter. We would never return.

We arrived in Bedale after travelling for a while so we were hungry and needing food and coffee. We’d looked at the reviews and had already decided to visit this cafe and we’re so glad we did. From the minute we arrived all the staff were friendly, welcoming and obviously trained well. The service was very quick and the cooked breakfast, coffee and raspberry lemonade were delicious. We didn’t have room for cake but they looked good too. Highly recommended and we’d love to go again if we’re in the area.

The cafe itself was small but cosy with calm decor and a view of Bedale. The staff were friendly and their recommendations spot on. Quiche has never been so tasty, subtly herby with a lovely texture (and no soggy bottoms!) The prices were verb reasonable, the seating comfortable. All round practically perfect. And yes - if we are in the area again we will definitely stop for lunch the next time.

This is our regular stop for breakfast after doing the weekly food shop. The place is bright and clean and Mark and his staff are cheerful and helpful. My partner usually has the full breakfast while I have the garlic mushrooms and wilted spinach on sourdough toast with a poached egg on top, we always take home a couple of scones to have with a cuppa later in the day. The food is always delicious. We also enjoy the monthly dinner evenings either eat in or take away, again the food is fabulous. In short, everything we have tried we have loved.

First, sorry for the silly mistake in my previous review, which should have read 'if your food is served within (not without!) seconds you know it hasn't been freshly cooked'. I've been for more all-day vegan breakfasts since, on the most recent occasion meeting friends on holiday from Ireland, who, being vegetarian, were delighted to find the vegan breakfast but had eggs with theirs. Unfortunately the vegan chocolate brownies had just sold out otherwise I'd have bought one for later. I can't vouch for the rest of the food but it's very popular.

I shall be back for another one next time I’m in Bedale. Highly recommend.I’ve been back a few times (since the tuna melt) and tried various things, all of which were very good. The breakfasts are as good as they ever were.Cheese, bacon and rosemary scones, unusual and lovely, also apple and cinnamon scones that don’t taste too much of cinnamon. They have apparently changed their coffee supplier, I’m guessing they re examine what they’re selling from time to time, needless to say the new stuff is nicer.Last time I was in Mark asked me if I’d like a tuna melt made with Blue Wensleydale. WOW! It was delicious.Clearly they care about what they’re serving - it really shows. Thanks guys keep up the good work.

My boyfriend and I arrived here today at 3pm to be told they weren’t serving breakfast food and hadn’t been since 12. The table of four next to us were still eating a fry up, so when we questioned this the waitress said she wasn’t sure why they had been given the food. I ordered a scone and my boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich and a coffee to be told that there wasn’t any of either. After much discussion about what they didn’t have which we wanted from the menu (which seemed to be most of it) I ordered a tropical smoothie and my boyfriend decided on the quiche. Twenty minutes later a smoothie arrived which was the wrong one, when we asked for the tropical smoothie we were told the weren’t serving those any more and the order shouldn’t have been taken. During this time everyone around us were told that most of the food and drinks weren’t available and drinks/food were mixed up. People who came after us were told there was no longer any hot food available. The food arrived another five minutes later and the reason I’m giving two stars and not one is because my boyfriend said the quiche was one of the best he’s ever had. We decided to leave quickly, only to realise we had been charged another £4.50 for a soup (?) and we were still charged for the wrong smoothie. After receiving a refund we left quickly, heading for the Costa over the road which is a rarity for us as we aren’t usually in favour of choosing chain establishments over local business. It’s unlikely we will return, there are far nicer establishments in Bedale with plenty of choice and menu’s where most things are available.

Been to this little cafe twice now, first time I ordered a tuna melt, which as far as tuna melts go, it was amazing! Had red peppers and onion through it, which made it better than a simple butty.

We went into this lovely cafe mostly because they are dog friendly on a miserable Saturday morning. We were met with a warm welcome. The coffee and scones were amazing. Highly recommended. We were on holiday so would love to visit again if we are in the area.

Visited this cafe for lunch. Had the best quiche I have ever had (mushroom) with a side salad and coleslaw followed by a slice of very nice lemon cake. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Prices reasonable.

A hidden gem. Went here because of reviews. They were spot on. Brilliant cafe with great food, great service and value or money. Have told all my friends to go here. Will be back.

Specials were excellent but pannini I usually get was poor. Bland cheese and not enough of it. Onion was not cooked and slices far too big for a sandwich. Salad dressing was excellent. Disappointing as I have previously rated it highly.😔

1st visit to The Greyhound at Bagby but certainly won’t be our last. Absolutely fantastic Sunday dinner, normally only have two courses but had to try the desserts too. Food was superb, excellent value for money, and all staff very friendly. Highly recommend !
