We were traveling through the area and stopped by this small business. They opened a little late but it was worth the wait. The scones were coming out of the oven when we ordered. Don’t miss this gem of a place. Sweet or savory, you pick…both were wonderful.

Cosy, simple cafe with a great atmosphere. The staff are all super friendly and the coffee and hot chocolates are the best we’ve ever had! During our stay on Lindisfarne, we’ve been back every morning to get more. If you come to the island this is definitely worth a visit. I would honestly rate higher than 5 stars if I could!

We popped in for a coffee and scone. It was super busy (inside and outside) and we managed to find a table and chairs indoors but it was cramped. Coffee was a bit bitter - like my review. Fruit scone was great but friend had a cheese scone and he left most of it as it was pretty claggy. Garden outside was lovely and time out there would have been better. Looked to be one of the best options as place for coffee on a Sunday afternoon but was disappointed.

We visited the Pilgrims coffee shop for a coffee in the late afternoon on a busy july day and could not resist looking at all the home made cakes on offer, finally settling on fruit scones and raspberry jam to go with our coffee. All the cakes were reasonablt priced at around £3.00 and the portions were generous. The service was quick considering how busy the cafe was and our table in a garden filled with flowers was a delight .

MORE AT TripAdvisor

It’s a wonderful place. It’s a family run, socially-minded speciality coffee shop and roastery, on the beautiful, windswept and wild Holy Island of Lindisfarne in North Northumberland. There’s a separate on site building for its roastery. The coffee is ace, we got a flat white, a cappuccino and two Americanos and the coffee smell was delicious. I’ve noted many of the chain coffee places don’t have this notable inviting aroma. The home - made cakes and sweet treats were delicious too. I’d give it 5 green stars for its environmental commitments. It was real busy. We had to stand a while to get the bench seating outside in a breezy almost warm day. They had ample room inside but almost everybody opted for outdoors. They say that their mission is to bring top quality, speciality grade, carefully sourced arabica coffee beans from around the world, into the hands of UK coffee lovers. I agree they do. I would have liked to find out if their coffee is shade grown and if they buy from all female farm workers. I wonder too if they decaffeinate their own coffee and if so how? Really worth supporting.

Everything was wonderful. Readers who have read my previous reviews will recall my love of good cheese scones and my intense dislike of poor ones. In decades of intense research - these were the best. Strong cheese flavour inside and out and beautifully light. And then the coffee. Roasted on site. Unusual flavour that we both loved. Other cakes and scores looked just as good. Just go. No extra reason should be needed to go to Holy Island. But Pilgrims is one

We popped in today after seeing it recommended on Matt Bakers TV show and it did not disappoint. The cakes were amazing, I had something called scone pudding which was served heated. Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!
