Absolutely the worst pub in Edinburgh. Too loud and the worst music I ever heard in this country.

Came from England, stumbled upon this place accidentally as it had karaoke on, and my girlfriend loves karaoke, The host was great, the atmosphere was brilliant. Every singer got encouragement from the host and everyone in the bar. We had a great night.

The Pilgrim is an awesome place to hang out. Especially on sundays noghts when they host quiz night followed by karaoke night starting to tune at 10pm. I had a lot of fun and the staff was really great to me. Thank you again for such a good time !

Hospitality and Delicious Food I recently visited Pilgrim Bar in Edinburgh and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. Speaking of drinks, the bar’s selection is extensive, with creative cocktails, a great range of beers, and plenty of non-alcoholic options. The bartenders clearly take pride in their craft, as every drink was mixed to perfection. Overall, Pilgrim Bar is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great pub in Edinburgh. With its friendly staff, delicious food, and inviting ambiance, it’s a place I’ll happily return to and recommend to others.

Compré un Wowcher para cócteles en este bar y no tenía la intención de quedarme después de beberlos, pero es un bar fantástico. Los cócteles son excepcionales al igual que el personal y la música es genial. Mi hermana y yo llegamos alrededor de las 16: 30 e inmediatamente me encantó el lugar esta mejoró cuando llegaron nuestros cócteles y bocadillos, Bombay mix no lo han tenido durante años. Después de unos cócteles probamos algo de comida y no nos decepcionó. Estábamos tristes de salir para salir de autobús a casa y sin duda vamos a ir de nuevo.

I used to go here to enjoy affordable drinks using pre purchased Groupon vouchers. Lately management has been absolutely horrible about the vouchers, making it harder and harder for customers to actually use them and what could have been a nice evening with friends turns into a disappointment due to their attitude. At one unfortunate instance, the manager even blatantly mentioned to customers how the vouchers are not bringing any money to the business, as if it was the customers fault for taking advantage of a good deal. Definitely do not recommend to go there because of the Groupon deal. Without the vouchers, even though the place is somewhat affordable compared to other bars in Edinburgh, I recommend going somewhere with higher standards of customer service. Their nachos are good though.

We had a night out here on Sunday - we did the quiz then stayed for the karaoke. We had a fab time and huge thanks to Dougie and the staff who were all wonderful!

They have the slowest bartenders and the bar was pretty slow. None of the bartenders looked like they cared. One even served my friend and ignored me. The bar also smelt like rotting Yogurt. Several of my friends got dirty glasses. Not returning

Sunday karaoke with dougie is always a 10/10!!!! Staff are lovely and drinks are fab. 100% recommend for a banging night out

El servicio fue horrible. Tardaron 25 minutos en ser atendidos cuando solo había 4 personas esperando. La señora detrás de la reja principalmente acaba de hablar con un tipo en un sombrero (parecía trabajar allí? Luego, cuando apareció otro camarero, ambos eran tan inútiles como el otro, haciendo bebidas tan lentamente o charlando en lugar de priorizar las bebidas. Una vez que había recibido mi bebida había algo malo en ella (ni siquiera era lo que había pedido) y los camareros parecían encontrarlo divertido cuando me quejaba. Solía venir aquí mucho, pero parece que solo ha bajado colina abajo.

Had a voucher, never booked but they managed to fit us in anyway. Great food.

Short red haired bartender is extremely rude and off putting. Have heard many stories of people leaving from her disgraceful demeanour. Yelled at me for politely waiting and not yelling out to her for service. Was a local at this place before getting abused by this bartender. My girlfriend was almost in tears

Great vibes, good drinks, reasonable price as well. The bar tenders were all super friendly and made the atmosphere a joy to be in. We went on a Friday night and it was very busy! (In the best way). Even with how busy it was, I think I spend at most 5 minuets at the bar (and that included them making me a cocktail). Very impressive how well the staff worked together to make sure everyone was having fun and getting served quickly. Cannot wait to come back!

Enjoyed the office pub quiz. Although didn’t understand the inclusion of the music round. Will surely be going back again but this time will take a music expert with me.

Tourist trap bar. Paid over £6 for a pint attending the Pokémon pub quiz, which was a big disappointment. Quizmaster had questions that seemed AI generated, with incorrect answers. The music round had nothing to do with Pokémon at all. The quizmaster also had an attitude when contestants told him the answers were good. I have now attended three pub quizzes at this bar and my experience has been the same every time. On the other hand, the bar staff were lovely and attentive and did a great job all night! Props to them

Made a booking to watch the rugby and have food, despite allowing you to book children and being emailed (in which I responded to advise here with teenage daughter (19) at no point were we told to bring ID .. door staff totally unsympathetic and told their licence wouldn’t allow it without ID.. no place to watch the rugby at such short notice and licence allows entry if you buy food ! We were there to eat !!! Nowhere else in Edinburgh asked for ID. So South African supporters couldn’t watch the rugby … place was empty .. understandable why .. terrible approach and total lack of information , everywhere around this bar is slammed as they stand empty … take that as you will and avoid this place Update .. instead of apologising the GM decides to take umbridge with the fact I have called out his staff , now I can see the issue is management not staff , lead by example is an approach they chose not to take . To clarify the management team feel visitors from outside the city deserve only condensation and are not welcomed , this is evident from reviews and his response such as “it’s a widely know fact in Edinburgh “ and “I’ll train you on licensing law “ I mean wow that’s how to attract some of the visitors to the city to this place … if your not from Edinburgh, let alone UK avoid this place

Had a fab time at pilgrim a couple of nights ago! The drinks were amazing and really reasonably priced for being on the cowgate! Loved the vibe and music too, will definitely be back!

Bought a pint of Guinness for the price of almost £6.00 it was a very mediocre pint of the black stuff in an Irish bar must do better

Sehr nette Bar mit viel jungem Publikum, besonders bei Frauen beliebt. Dies kommt durch atemberaubende Cocktails. Der Dienstagabend bietet einen Pubquizabend mit vollem Haus. Hier muss unbedingt vorbestellt werden... Also ein Tisch reserviert werden. Die Wartezeiten sind in Ordnung für diese frisch gemixten Cocktails. Das es Essen ist herrliches Barfood a la USA! Der Perfekte Platz für einen Studentenabend!

Top place for food, drinks, and music

Disappointing end to a good night. The Karaoke staff were lovely. They are the saving Grace of this bar. We were on holiday so were unaware of closing times and ordered an expensive round of cocktails, were told five minutes later that it was closed and we had to leave. The security man took our drinks and poured them down the drain. To be expected to down a cocktail in less than five minutes is very irresponsible for an establishment selling alcohol. Horrendous behaviour. The cocktails were awful, tasted like cordial. It was like the spirits were watered down. The toilets were filthy. There was an empty bottle of poppers lying at the sink all night and the bins were overflowing. Could be a great bar if they had some manners, up skilled on their cocktails and cleaned it up.

out for a wander went in for a few drinks and wow drinks great reasonable prices and the staff were fantastic especially one a bubbly blond lassie dont recall her name made us feel very welcome atmosphere was great all seemed friendly place was very clean and busy

Fabulous selection of cocktails and the bar staff were great at suggesting what to have when I couldn’t make up my mind. Whimsical touch with the rubber duck floating in my cocktail. DJ was killing it and so many people feeling it and dancing.

Had a fantastic night out in Edinburgh with friends, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the music . But the highlight had to be the amazing selection of cocktails I particularly liked the swimming pool ones and thought the little duck was a cute addition.

Had a great girls night out - drinks were reasonably priced and all tasted great! Queues went down quickly (very important in Edinburgh) and there were seats available etc. Staff were all lovely

Pilgrim is a great bar in Edinburgh, which is both fun and most importantly safe. Me and my friends go there regularly and recently celebrated my birthday there as well! The doorman can be stern, but he is a great guy once you know him. Security is like that because Pilgrim is one of the busiest bars in the city and you can get a lot of idiots coming in otherwise. Great drinks, great staff and a great bar!!

Friends and I love going to the weekly pub quiz on Sundays. DJ Dougie is a friendly delight and the quiz is a great mix of challenging and feasibly knowable. It’s a great atmosphere and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun quiz in a cool student-dominated locale

absolutely terrible experince here, my friend was kicked out because he was “too drunk” while others were spewing outside the pub and getting back in. we think it’s because he was gay which is extremely dis heartening as the bouncers were blatantly making fun of him infront of us all, also whilst sitting enjoying my cockatail, it was spilled all over me and the glass smashed by an absolutely steaming guy. he never got kicked out? we travelled visiting edinburgh and honestly would not recommend this place what so ever. absolute joke and the staff have shocking people skills. will NOT be back.

Was in early evening, was quiet, friendly bar staff, music at a decent volume made it easy chatting, we didn't eat but the food did look good. Decent selection of beers and the prices didn't seem a rip off.

So, I entered this bar and the security came up to me asking for my ID. I said I don't have it on me right now and he said you need to go get it. The audacity and arrogance of this place being a mediocre bar and rejecting people because they don't have an ID on them? I don't think it's about age too because I'm 30 and I look 30. Weird place. Deserves the 1 star only for this reason.

This bar is only a short 10 minute walk from my flat in Edinburgh and me and my partner have a blast every time we stop by. We love the range of drinks available and overall atmosphere of the bar and would thoroughly recommend to anyone living in or visiting the city.

Our group had vouchers for cocktails (1 drink each) and nachos. The bar was pretty empty when we arrived but got steadily busier and noisier as the afternoon went on. The cocktails we ordered were really nice, all being consumed and another order placed. The baskets of nachos were a nice touch to nibble on during our stay. We noticed that quite a lot of the tables were pre-booked, which would be a good idea if your in a large group. If you like a quiet drink in a relaxed atmosphere, this place is not for you, unless you get here very early before the crowds arrive. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented.

Went to Pilgrim Bar for the first time to watch the recent Scotland v Wales 6 nations International. Thoroughly enjoyed it.Great atmosphere, plenty of televisions for watching sport.First class service,extensive cocktails, and a cracking pint of Guiness

Always crowded, loud and full of young students making loads of noise! Never found a place to sit here. The drinks are great but expensive even on student discount! It’s also a very small pub.

Couldn't say the entrance is the easiest to find but locating near old and new town is a huge plus. For the time I went there, it was crowded and there were quite a bit of shouting, which is nice to have for a pub. Good vibe overall!

Great prices and a nice variety of drinks. Lots of stuff on draught, as well as some original cocktails and shots. Great decor and ambiance. They also have a lot of big TVs so it’s a good place to watch some football.

Staff were friendly, was a wired mix of customers some were really drunk when I was there and that was 6pm! I liked the décor and the music. The toilets were stinking! One stall and that was always occupied and piss all over the floor.

My friends and I usually book a table most Sundays for the quiz then karaoke afterwards and we love it every time. Dougie is a brilliant host and the atmosphere is always really lovely and the staff are always happy to help (honourable mention to John the security guard). We always really enjoy ourselves... the drinks are yummy and you can get discounts for being students (which helps the bank account big time!)
