Pop in for a drink, been here many times before but obviously changed hands, no cask ale anymore and no heating !! When will pubs learn if your customers are shivering they won’t stay!!

Had nacho starters just ok. Chips advertised as triple cooked with a main meal but we're poor fries. The chicken baguette was dry and lacking in content . Mushy peas with the fish very dry. People using vapes next to eating tables. Sadly poor experience. Hopefully the venues food improves moving forward but sadly won't be returning. Good for sport TV

Great place to sit outside and watch the world go by. Large selection of drinks and friendly staff. Would certainly recommend

Came here a couple of times for a few beers and a game of pool - the last time we decided the eat here, the food took ages to arrive even though the pub wasn’t very busy, I’m not sure how long we waited but must’ve been around 30-45 mins. When it finally came it wasn’t hot like it had been sitting around for a while and it wasn’t tasty. This put us off ever coming here again.

Good beer and gave a CAMRA Members discount. Food was reasonable - good price and average quality. Service a little slow, but was a busy evening. Chuckled when I ordered an Eton Mess for dessert and got asked if I wanted that with custard, ice cream or cream - I suppose the tills are programmed that way!!!

Brilliant dog friendly pub off Lord Street. Made several visits here during our break to Southport. Comfortable seating areas and genuinely dog friendly. Had a meal here today hubby enjoyed his Dirty Harry burger with blue cheese and I had cheese and onion pie which was divine. Definitely recommend!

Just spent the afternoon in what has to be one of the jems of Southport. A fabulous range of beers and a staff that engages and makes your visit fun...we ordered our meals, one a pasta the other rump steak or plump as I hopefully call it...Fabulous and a delight...Top marks all round,, and thank-you.

Wonderful pizza from the phoenix.great taste value for for Money and all cooked fresh no bought in base's.

We popped in here with our friends we'd been visiting southport for the weekend and after being out all day we went in for a couple, the Atmosphere was great people in there were all really friendly, and it was real great night It was Karaoke which was great so obviously had to get up with a couple of Songs. When we visit Southport again we'll definitely come in but not as Much Wine next time!!! Natalie, Jo Julie & Paul x

I regularly go to The Phoenix for karaoke. On Friday nights they have the exceptional Wendy doing the karaoke and on Saturday nights it’s the brilliant Chris and Danny. Always a great night, a great atmosphere and a great collection of singers. The pub itself has a cosy atmosphere and apparently does great food. The staff are extremely attentive.

Booked a table here, so we could watch the England game, contacted through Facebook, the staff were very friendly, and we had the Sunday roast dinner, which was lovely, would recommend, and will be back next time in Southport

Was in Southport with the girlfriend and our black Lab (Cujo). She wasn't well for the 4 nights of our stay, so it was just myself and the dog going for a walk, beers and food. The staff were great, and complying with government COVID guidelines, table service etc. Ale was nice (if not a great selection) and the Veggie Burger I had on one of the 3 visits was gorgeous. Best veggie burger I've had for a while. Will be back next year and visit again.

Away with friends, spent a lot of hours here as we are all sport fans and wanted to watch the Champions league quarter finals. We were looked after by Jo, a great server, friendly and funny, but also very efficient when taking our varied orders. We ate there on the first night also, food was fine, not fine dining but good all the same, exactly what we wanted. thanks Jo

We came here on the Friday after the pubs opened and it was nice to see standards are kept here. The place was spotless,the staff were superb offering table service making sure everyone was kept safe. Will deffo recommend

It feels a bit dated. The staff were really friendly. We ordered some food and it took 50 minutes to arrive at our table. I can’t say if this was normal for this pub or not. Food was nice though! I probably wouldn’t come here again but only because it wasn’t ‘my’ kind of place. Appears to appeal more to sports fans. And they have plenty of screens to watch sports so that’s a good thing!

Went in for a drink ended up having lunch the steak n cheese with caramelised onion was lovely and my hubby had steak pie which was also nice - drinks are a good price as well will definitely visit again

Toilets disgraceful, often no locks on disabled toilets either. The whole place desperately needs a refurb.

Went to meet family staying in Southport. Parked up at the B & M car park opposite. Excellent value beers in the afternoon. Staff very friendly. Dog friendly also which is why I called in. stayed around five hours. We all decided on the daily roast. Tasty and good price. We asked for the racing channel and it was no problem.

Nice big traditional no frills pub with good lighting and high ceilings. Always has good music and the very well priced beers just get better, very quick turn around and always something interesting on. Happy hours and Camra discount together with friendly staff places it in our top 5 pubs in Southport. Good wifi too, and you don't need a bank loan to buy good (pretentious?) beers unlike at other nearby places who's aim is clearly placed at the hipster market (still live off the bank of mummy & daddy so will gladly pay £4 for a third of a pint especially if it has a weird flavour like cat piss milk shake ipa mixed with worms blood, oh and a cool name)

We called here to watch the football when on a break in Southport. Reasonable prices, staff friendly, food nice.

Came here whilst on holiday, had the vibe of a local pub with a friendly atmosphere. We ordered a burger and a curry.. the food was delicious and very good quality meat. We went to their quiz night which is every Sunday with a cash prize, we came fourth but enjoyed being involved. Also good amenities, pool table and games machines. Only complaint is the toilets smell awful.

£14.50 for 2 flavoured double gins and lemonade!!! Just had the same drinks in The Coronation for less than half this price!!!

Arrived Sunday morn approx 11:30. The enormity of the pub took my breath away.Dated in areas but understandable. Great service from start to finish with both drinks and food enjoyable. Keep up the good work guys. Dog friendly.

Hubby n I just popped in for drink whilst staying at nearby hotel!There was a quiz on which seemed popular with the locals!The drinks were very competitively priced and if you like watching sport then it's ideal!Staff very friendly!They have quizzes on every week via TV and the place would appeal mostly to the younger element but it seems very popular!

Was ok, staying round the corner so ideal for us. Good range of beers and they were reasonably priced. Nice and tidy pub this.

We went mainly to catch up with a football game and seems that a lot of others do too as most people drinking and watching sky rather than eating-altho maybe just this evening! Pleasant and good beer.

Lovely little pub. Good variety of drinks and was really chilled and peaceful. It’s slightly off the Main Street so I think a lot of people miss it, but it’s defiantly worth going in for 1

Food was very good and a decent price,also lots of places to sit, Quiz was also good...but VERY crowded and we felt the Quizmaster should have started on time.....despite the Grand Prix. So...overall a good experience...but we probably won't do it again....I guess it is a sports bar.....and that took precedence over the quiz :(

This is a really lovely pub with a great selection of drinks and lovely food with the best nachos + friendly staff. Great place for watching footie too. The problem is - it is freezing in there!! Even the bar staff had their jackets on. Totally unfair in this bad English weather! Just please put the heating on!

Well what a great place , good selection of cask ales very reasonable price and great food the Feast for a fiver menu is good + you can add a pint for only another £1.50 !! The staff are great nothing is to much trouble , really make you feel welcome.. next time you're in Southport call in .. you won't be disappointed..

We stopped off for some dinner with my 2 children. Initially they could not find me any children's menus, which gave me the impression of being very disorganised, I had to suggest a child's dish and they told me if it was on the menu. My daughter has celiac disease, they didn't seem to have much of a idea on gluten free dishes or a policy concerning this. We waited a long time for simple cooked food, however the food was enjoyable when it finally arrived. not sure if we would go again.

There was a great selection on the menu and the staff were very helpful. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We joined in with the quiz on Sunday night (although we probably came last). We will be back here next time we visit Southport

Voy a la Phoenix muy a menudo un Viernes para ver las bandas en vivo, pero en esta ocasión me decidí a comer allí, y no me decepcionó. Fuimos a la "fiesta", por un billete y mi amigo tenía la salchichas y puré. Las comidas estaban bien hechos, bien presentados y deliciosos. Fuimos a ver el fútbol en un domingo y el lugar es muy grande. No es el típico pub quirkys quizás la palabra, pero nos gustó. Tenía un pensamiento hamburguesa pub grub estándar bog irá bien. No fue así, es uno de los mejores que he tenido cuando en un pub, junto con las patatas fritas tan fácil conseguir equivocada, pero estos eran geniales. Gran personal te hace sentir bienvenido, cuando estamos en la zona de nuevo, sin duda visita. Saludos.

We were at a funeral, nice buffet lunch in a quiet corner.good variety of items, well set out. some hot items.

We went to watch the football and there is a lot of screens. They have the commentary on which is a bonus. There is a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. The food was pretty decent for pub food. Quite a good variety on the menu. About £7ish per meal. The beer gets you drunk so what more can you ask for?

Visited here on a night out, got here about 12am. I am 35 and my friends are similar ages and we were the youngest people in this bar. I felt like I was 18 again on my first night out, the music was from this era too.Not somewhere I will be visiting again in a hurry.

Arrived in southport to early to check in to the hotel so went to the Phoenix, close to our hotel and dog friendly. It turned out to be a good decision, very tasty lunch, drinks reasonably priced, very friendly staff and a bowl of water for the dog

I went in the phoenix for dinner, the food was excellent,it is all freshly cooked and well presented and well worth the money.The staff are very helpful and friendly and the place is always spotless.It is well worth a visit.

Pub just out of the way.. but the food was spot on! The place isnt the best to look at and they allow dogs in one side...My GF had jacket with tuna.. gave it an 8...I went for the 'ultimate burger' and I recon it was one of the best I've had...I would deffo return here.. plus theres plenty of tv's to watch :-D

Found this pub by accident as it was up a side street. The staff were very welcoming, we had a light bite off the menu pie - chips and vegetables, this was meant to be a small portion but it was plentiful enough and very hot. I would definitely go here if I visited Southport again

Nice pub/restaurant. If you want somewhere quiet to eat go to The Phoenix! Good food, friendly staff. They show all football matches, anywhere you sit you can see a tv.

The pub looked like it could do with a clean (despite it being only lunchtime)however service was quick and the bar person was friendly. There were a couple of real ales on tap. Basic food menu but food was good value for money.

Pleasantly surprised as we walked through the door (the outside is a little shabby). It's a lovely pub with cheap drink and very good food. It's clean and comfortable and would deffo recommend.

Had a really good lunch here. A burger with cheese and very good quality bacon with fries and a cajun chicken burger which I have to say was excellent and I think homemade. Try the garlic mushrooms on ciabatta as they are lovely.

My partner and i went in the phoenix on the 4th oct which was the weekend of the firework display,it was very busy nut we managed to get a seat .we were told there was about an hours wait for the food which was ok as we were having a drink as well.The staff were very good considering it was so busy and the manageress came over to apologise for the wait which was very nice of her.There were people moaning even though they new they had to wait but they werent happy so the manageress said she would refund their money.I felt very sorry for her as she was very goood under the circumstances.I will certainly visit there again as the food was excellent and well worth the money.

Two grandparents with two girls aged 6 and 4. Saturday night of the musical fireworks competition. Wetherspoons was heaving and no seats so we made our first and last ever visit to The Phoenix. We arrived just before 6pm (till receipt timed 17.53 - that's important) which gave us two hours to get to the fireworks. We were warned to expect food to take an hour which we were prepared to cope with. After an hour and a quarter we realized that the kitchen was in total confusion. Staff were wandering around with bits of paper asking people if this was their order. Then someone would appear from the kitchen with plates of food and return to the kitchen when they could not find the appropriate customer. When the table of seven people who arrived after us received their food and we still had nothing I started to ask questions. When the table of seven finished their meal and we still had no food,I managed to get the manageress. Her response was that it was very busy (yes we could see that) and she only had two staff in the kitchen. Why would a bar with five TV screens showing England v Australia Rugby and the town swarming with visitors only have two kitchen staff? When I pointed out the confusion in the kitchen the manageress said she had seen nothing of this. How incompetent is that? She then offered to refund our money. Where would we get another meal before midnight? When I told her we would take the next meal coming out of the kitchen she finally went into the kitchen. Our order arrived 1 hour 50 minutes after it went through to the kitchen. The food was on a par with JDW but twice the price. I have never experienced such incompetence and lack of concern in 50 years of eating out.

We called in for a quick lunch on Monday. We ordered the Bbq Chicken and Bacon jkt potatoe with salad. I had a big coffe which was lovely. The food came and I have to say it was the best jkt and filling I've ever had. Absolutely loved it. Can't wait to go again for another one. Also plenty of room and quiet. Loved it.

Staff friendly and very funny. Great service the pub is nicely decorated clean and tidy other than the toilets which were flooded but a great effort taken to try and make it as safe and clean as possible with the situation. Wishnwe had a local pub like this near to us. Prices are very reasonable. Really glad we found this pub had a nice time and top laugh in here.

me and the wife visited the phoenix for lunch at 1.15 and we were extremely happy with both the reception and above all the quality of food. we have eaten in many restaurants over the years and we have to admit the standard,quality and amount of food we got for the price was phenominal. the staff were above excellent and the food is highly reccomended by us both

I visited the phoenix yesterday 6th april with some friends to have a few drinks and some food it was very busy and there was quite a wait for the food but the staff coped very well and we were told we might have to wait up to an hour which was ok as the food was excellent when it came out there were some people kicking off when they found out about the wait but the staff handled it very well and took it all in their stride i would certainly go there again and definitely recommend it to other people i have been in there before and the staff are always very friendly towards the customers

This pub is run by a nice young scottish couple who made us very welcome. There is a DJ on a Saturday night who played a good range of music.

Second visit to this pub and to me it gets better. We ordered our main meals and were delighted to be told that if you ordered two meals you also got a bottle of wine all for £20. The food came without to much of a wait and was again very good both in quality and quantity and the wine was surprisingly good so much so we bought another bottle (£8.80). The pub had been very busy for the Liverpool/Everton game but the staff were still very helpful and friendly. We will be back.

Visited this Pub/Restaurant on a recent trip to Southport. It was a new menu from the one we had in December. Again we had the Breakfast which was First Class with fresh well cooked produce. We were served by pleasant and helpful staff. The surroundings were very clean, warm and inviting. We will certainly return on our next visit.

Came to the phoenix as our favourite restaurant Swan was closed (it was the New Year's Eve). We ordered two steak pies and they were the worst streak pies we ever had. The puff pastry wasn't cooked, it was served almost raw. Did not eat it. Inside, the meat wasn't cooked, and there was more sauce than meat. Very watery sauce. Only good thing about the meal was chips. If you want an excellent steak pie and generous portion of it, go to the Swan. Absolutely amazing steak pies there, not at the Phoenix.

Went for a day trip to Southport and went to the recently reopened Phoenix Bar and Restaurant.We have been to a number of bars/restaurants in Southport in the past, but this one is the one with the best Breakfast we have had.The food was fresh (no frozen produce) and very well cooked and presented by friendly and efficient staff.The Bar was clean and well maintained.We will NOT be going anywhere else for Breakfast when we return to Southport.

Nice place for a drink, can get a bit loud for the older punter but has a good selection of drinks and some nice food options which are priced very reasonable especially the light bight options.

Watched the football last week and decided to go for the 5oz Rump Steak with chips and peas. It's only £3.95,and the steak was cooked beautifully,lots of real English mustard too,which places like Weatherspoons just don't have even on a Tuesday when it's steak club. So all in all good quality steak at a quality price.

We visited the Phoenix last weekend with a family party. Nothing is too much for the staff!! They are so welcoming and friendly. One member of staff called Kelly went the extra mile to look after us. The food is all homemade and is cooked fresh.Anyone visiting Southport must pay them a visit.I believe it has just reopened under new ownership so they need your support!!!!They certainly deserve it!!!!

This has improved 100%,the place is cleaner the food is home made and they have a nice selection of draft beer.They'll be doing music nights soon too so well worth a visit.

This place has just re-opened and has a new menu. Went in there for the first time last week and have returned already. All home cooked stuff, not the usual measured portions. The steak is absolutely gorgeous and more importantly is properly cooked i.e. if you ask for rare, you get rare. One of the party had the burger and enjoyed it and there are also great drinks offers too (£1.99 pint of Guiness!!). Give this place a whirl, the staff are nice and the pub is spotless and the food is delicious.

What a disappointment; we called in for a meal on our first night in Southport and there was an "event" on in the pub that completely spoiled our night - we couldn't hear ourselves think, couldn't speak to one another without shouting , and the people on the next table were doing the same , but infortunately one of their group couldn't speak a sentence without an "F" word.... hence we had a drink , ate our meal and left ; We don't know what the "event " was - the man on the microphone was so shouty we couldn't work out what was going on; Dreadful.....- also the real cider was not available and although "pump" showed availability we were told it hadn't been on for weeks.We wont be going back , even though we go to Southport every year for a break there are much more affable pubs/venues than this one

Arrived to find our booked table was not actually booked! But the Manageress explained the situation & luckily a table become available! She personally cleaned it ready for us! Food was an hour wait but we were happy to wait as it was Airshow day so Southport was extra busy! The food arrived just after an hour! All 5 of us enjoyed our meals, the coleslaw was delicious! We had no room for pudding after the huge plates!! Would definitely return! The Manageress went above & beyond her role making our visit perfect due to our booking not being there!!Cocktails & puddings are 2 4 1!!!Kids meals are good value

Food and beer at incredibly low prices without sacrificing quality- especially on a Thursday evening.Good lively evening entertainment, disco, quiz, etc provided by resident DJ Paul on various nights of the week.

Have eaten here a few times now and it doesn't seem to matter if it is quiet or busy, I always seem to wait about 45 minutes for my food to arrive. Food is generally ok though. Once is forgivable, twice is annoying and three times makes me now go elsewhere to eat. I eat out on a regular basis and feel waiting for 45 minutes for a meal is not acceptable.

Just been to the Pheonix for my birthday with my dad, Quick service and hot food. Friendly service, cant wait to go back. This is bar is an example to others in the brand.

We had our tea here for my son's birthday. He chose the venue as he was meeting his friends there afterwards. There was a wide choice of both food and drinks and very reasonably priced. Even though it was midweek teatime it was very quiet and so we were served quite quickly. The food was of a good standard and reasonable sized portions considering the price. I think it is a very good venue for families with adult 'children' as the place seems to liven up later in the evening after the 'oldies' have gone home. I would certainly eat there again with the family.

went to wetherspoons round corner and it was packed so on my way back noticed this place down the side street thought we give it a try and more than glad we did greeted by friendly staff found a table the pub is big and clean not dark an dinghy ordered the food an got a beer beer was great food was a surprise quick hot and really well presented if your looking for cheap good pub grub I would recommend this place definitely

Good food, good service, but a large pub so not as cozy as say a small pub in a village. Friendly place to go and much quieter than the other large pubs on Lords Street.

Guiness was a good pint, food order took 45 mins even when pub was quite.My steak was suppose to be sirloin but it was one if the worse I have ever had if managed to eat 30% of it I'm being generous .Will drink here again but will not be eating here I'm afraid !!!!

I went to the Phoenix pub with my family on 3rd April. This was my first visit after a recommendation from a friend and I have to say I was impressed. We took advantage of the kids eat free offer and as a family of four eating out can often be expensive but this was very reasonable. When we arrived the pub was busy so we anticipated a wait on food and although it was a little longer than we expected, it was nice and well presented. The staff on duty whilst very busy, were friendly and attentive.

Last year we discovered the phoenix pub, from our first visit we were welcomed by friendly, helpful staff. We were pleased to find a clean, modern pub with such reasonable prices. We visit a couple of times a month and are now greeted like friends, the staff always make time for a chat and even remember our drinks order. We have tried a few things off the menu and althou it is just pub grub its to a high standard, well presented and such good prices. After being let down at another restaurant we needed a venue for a suprise birthday meal, we rang the phoenix at last minute and they arranged to reserve a table, they helped make our friends birthday a fun night, lovely food and we stayed in there all night. Thank you to the staff for making this southports top pub. Only downside would be the problems with the toilets, however we understand this is out of their control. Keep upthe good work.

To be fair i can't comment on the food as we did not eat here but it is a really friendly pub..It was a pretty quite night to be fair (Sunday 10/3) but the staff made us very welcome. We where invited to take part in the quiz by the organiser and it was thoroughly enjoyable..The Phoenix is along the lines of the chain pubs (it may even actually be one) but in my opinion it is a cut above the usual ones, For a start the Lager was £1 cheaper a pint than a couple of pubs we went to AND most importantly it was a nice, clean tasting pint..Also there didn't seem to be the typical crowd who spend all day, every day there because it is cheap ale..OK this type of establishment may not be everyones cup of tea but to me it felt more like a traditional pub on a larger scale than the usual superpubs..We will definately be returning when we next visit Southport..

food was excellent staff were excellent atmosphere secnd to none and when there is an important football match on the place is buzzing !

45 minute wait for a couple of sandwiches on a very quiet day, staff had no charisma and were as bland as the food. will not be going back here. There are plenty of other places in town try any of them instead.

Lovely food however service was very poor and the length of time between ordering and receiving the food was over 45 mins and even when deserts where ordered it took 15 mins for them to arrive and then table to be cleared...

We wanted to eat a steak meal here but the availability of choice was limited , therefore we left to eat elsewhere....our local pub in this chain also didn't have our choice when we went there, but the manager at The Pheonix was much more customer friendly and provided a much better feedback. There isn't a good choice of real ales or ciders which is our preference but it is a clean pub in a central location with a choice of meals from breakfast through lunch to meals up to 9pm.
