Pho No. 1 in Manchester

Love this place! Have been here for meals with friends numerous times and everyone loves it! The aubergine clay pot and the pork clay pot with rice is delicious, with dishes for both vegetarians and meat lovers! ❤️ The pho is so tasty and great value for money. When we get takeaway we always get the banh mi and the prawn toast 🍤 It’s always such a lovely atmosphere in here and feels so homely all the staff are always so helpful and kind 💕

- banh cuon £7.90 - banh xeo £8.50 - bun ga hue £9 the banh cuon was silky and smooth although a bit thicker than i like but overall still delicious! it paired beautifully with their addictive nuoc cham which also came with their banh xeo. it was very crispy but messy to eat bc the fillings were added separately rather than cooked into the banh xeo. the portion of the bun ga hue was generous but sadly it wasnt as flavourful as others i’ve had and i felt like the chicken was cooked separately then just added at the end. the service was so nice and they really made us feel welcome so id def come back and hopefully i can try the chè bc they ran out during my visit!

Very nice experience at Pho No.1, my Vietnamese friend recommended this place to me and said it’s authentic. A bit far from the uni but definitely worth coming, it’s one of the best Vietnamese food I had in the UK! The staffs and the owner were kind and welcoming, definitely gonna go again👍🏼👍🏼

A very nice and warm place for a noodle or Ben Hou; beef or pork are really nice. Excellent service and of course I love to go back there anytime.

Edit: there is a better Vietnamese place in the area now, not the Banh Mi one, so have to take a start down as it's not the best pho anymore. Best pho I've had outside of Vietnam. Better soup and baguettes than in Vietnamese premises I tried in Chinatown area specialising in those. Very reasonably priced, massive serving of pho. Lovely lady was serving us and brought me some chilli oil from the kitchen when she saw me looking at sriracha disappointed. Just to warn you, BBQ pork was served cold as often is in Vietnam, there should be a warning in the menu.

If you like Vietnamese food or just want to try something different then this is an absolute must! Not only will you find truly authentic Vietnamese foods, but you will also recieve a fully authentic experience. This is like no other restaurant I have been too, the food comes when the food is ready its that simple. If you want or expect your commercial everyday run of the mill starters, then mains etc then go elsewhere because here the food comes to you when it has been freshly prepared using prime fresh ingredients! Yes, like any menu its listed as starters, mains etc, but some mains are clearly quicker and easier to prepare and make than some starters and vice versa so they don't necessarily mean they will come in a set order - but believe me the complete taste of the freshest ingredients, mixes with authentic vibe and being made to feel like part of the family means you feel like you could actually be in Vietnam, eating in a cafe. I cannot recommend highly enough and this will now be my new go to spot for feel good atmosphere and incredibly tasty, healthy, fresh food! Absolutely love it!

Truly authentic food, which is obviously fresh. The staff are so friendly and care about your experience. We visited on a whim and we are so glad we did. It is the best meal we have had in a long time. The restaurant is clean and cosy. Cannot recommend here enough, we will certainly be back. Sad to see there aren’t many reviews, as there was plenty of custom! I recommend the summer rolls which are just bursting with flavour and it comes with a delicious peanut dip.

Tried plenty of Pho's around the world and Pho No.1 is just ...average. People say it has family atmosphere, but I'm not so sure about it. Whole place is just too basic, lack of anything Vietnamese, decor is too basic with plain tables and that's it. Staff friendly, but again, there is something I'm not sure about them. Once you're done with your food, you're erased. Pho was ok, 6/10 but spring rolls just drowned in oil, probably pre-frozen and deep fried in oil. 3/10. I give them generous 65% out of 100%

This was such a tasty, budget friendly, warm and comfortable restaurant. Lots of meat and vegetarian options . Delicious! The server was very welcoming and gracious .

First visit and we ordered the beef Pho x 2 and sharing starter. Staff were lovely, food was awesome. Really impressed, will be back.

Excellent little establishment. We arrived quite late and in a fairly large group. The staff were friendly and quickly accommodated us moving tables around to make space. The food was delicious and fairly priced. I will certainly be visiting again the future. :-)

Even though I've been twice to Pho No. 1, I've only tried the grilled monkfish. It was that good, so I got it again :) Technically it is fried (perhaps in addition to grilled?), but quite delicious in any case. I did get it with rice accidentally the first time (I asked for noodles they mixed up), but it turns out it's better with rice. Apart from the mistake, the takeaway service was slow, I guess it will also depend on the day. I will not penalise for the service, assuming it will be better next time.

Great little place to eat, food is top notch, and good vaule for money. Can bring your own alcohol in as well. It isn't the nicest looking place, but is clean and friendly. Me and the wife love this place! Plus free street parking available in the evenings.

Came here for lunch with my colleagues. Called ahead to book and the lady was so kind and friendly, especially as we were a large group and the restaurant is not massive. We all ordered different dishes on the menu, including tofu curry, banh mi, bun thit and pho. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.

Food was lovely and staff were quick and attentive. Paid via credit card with no issue.

The restaurant and its staff are nice. The food is okay. We started ordering a summer roll, and received a really tasty dish. However, we also ordered a shrimp, scallops, and octopus soup, but only received a bowl of noodle soup with two shrimps. My husband ordered a beef soup, but only received a bowl of noodle soup with sprinkles of shredded meat.

Pho is really nice service is also great. Hidden gem.

Food was quite good, large portions of the starch stuff like noodles. The prawn and mango salad was very refreshing and tasty!

This pho restaurant is a hidden gem!! Authentic vietnamese food! The beef pho is better than other places in town, so is the coffee! The place should be much more crowded than the pho places in city centre, a bit gutted for them not have higher ratings!

The bahn cuon - steam rolls (sticky, steamed rice paper topped with crispy onion and filled with mushrooms) were really good. The restaurant has quite a selection of Vietnamese dishes besides pho noodles to choose from.

Tasty food, we've been here several times now with our 5 year old. It's very good value can get a decent meal for a tenner, drinks are cheap too. Sharing starter for 2 is especially good, I usually have one of the BBQ dishes with meat, amount of which does vary but overall good portion size. Very quick service and friendly staff. Limited free parking outside if you're lucky or cheap parking round the corner.

Best Vietnamese food ever! Fab!

I went on a Sunday morning / afternoon after craving a good bowl of pho. I definitely got that here! I went for the seafood spring rolls, iced coffee, and mixed beef pho. The spring rolls were very tasty and perfectly crispy, the coffee was the right mix of strong and sweet. But I can safely say that this bowl of pho is the BEST I've had in Manchester, by a long way The broth was incredible, and a great portion size. There was quite a lot of beef too, and it was tender with so much flavour. It really hit the spot! In short, I'm already planning my next trip.

Very authentic Vietnamese food. I had the spring rolls and Pho. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The only thing a little odd was the cook (seemed like they were all family members) making shrimp toast at one of the tables. While it made the experience feel authentic (like you were in someone's home), interesting they were not doing their cooking prep in the back kitchen. But overall a good meal and would return again.

I got Spicy Vermicelli Noodle soup and it was absolutely delicious with the best flavour base and broth! Lovely meal - really fulfilled the craving!

Amazing food. Loved my lunch so much I bought another dish to take away to eat at home for dinner. The homemade lemonade is gorgeous - I had two! Prices very reasonable too and service very quick. Shame I don't live closer.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I would give them CERO stars if I could... We've been sat waiting for more than 25min, asked them a few times if we could order but they never came over to the table... The other tables were also waiting and complaining! Food was late for them and, on top of all this mess, there were a few people also waiting to order for take away. I'm definitely not going back!

Best Pho spot in manchester. With good amount of protein

Have heard good reviews about Pho No 1 & finally visited last weekend. It was quiet when we arrived in the afternoon. There was banh xeo on the menu but they didn't serve it, which was a shame. We ordered a prawn & mango salad, spring rolls, steamed rice rolls, grilled beef with vermicelli & stir fried flat noodles. The salad was delicious & refreshing with a healthy amount of mango but not many prawns - 4 halves. The prawn crackers served on the side, while crisp, tasted like they had been fried in unfresh oil, so that was a shame. The steamed rolls were nice & thin & the filling of mushrooms & meat was very tasty. It's not that common a dish so we are glad we managed to try it. Spring rolls were fried fresh, crisp & peppery but it was a miserable portion with only two on a plate. The grilled beef was delicious! We really liked the flavouring which was kinda peppery & the beef slices were tender & moist. Yummy!! The flat noodles were OK. The noodles are quite thin & not as broad as we like. It was packed full of veg & some beef. Portions overall were decent other than the spring rolls & standard of the cooking was good. There was a weird payment system through bank transfer to the owner as there was no card payment system. In general, we enjoyed the meal at Pho No 1 and wouldn't hesitate to return again.

great place, lovely staff! I've been there twice and I was very satisfied with my first order: Spring Rolls and Pork Belly & Egg Clay Pot Dish were delicious! however, the second time I was surprised with a cold Vietnamese BBQ.

Pho number 1 is a cute small business operating as dine in and takeaway. Their service is super quick. The staff are polite and very helpful. Food is tasty and I noticed that decent quality ingredients are used. Extremely affordable and great portion sizes too. They prefer cash as their cash machine was down. Great for students. Plenty of roadside parking available for free. I highly recommend it if you are in the area

Really nice spot, super casual, super tasty and very well priced. Had the cooked beef pho and Sara had the chicken curry with a side of spring rolls. Perfecto, do your self a favour and get in there.

Very authentic decor and super tasty Vietnamese food, the owner/staff really polite and helpful. We have tried few things and we like all of them. Highly recommend the Pendan tea and iced coffee as well! Will definitely come back to try more things.

Absolutely loved it. We was waiting for friends to come, whilst the waitress pushed us to order our food, it was in no way *rude* Excellent service and excellent food. Rare beef salad has too much beef!!! We added the salad from other food and mixed it into the salad which was so refreshing . Banh cuon the rice roll sheet must've been the thinnest I've ever had, so moorish. Not sure about the fried Vietnamese sausage. Rice Noodle main, had lots of veg, and little seafood... Didn't mind this at all. Overall food wasn't salty or filled with msg Vietnamese tea was excellent. Never had it before and the taste reminded me of pandan. Friends ordered rare beef pho and said the beef was so good and tender Banh xeo was also thin and crispy Highly recommend Loved the waitress straight up front approach 😊

As a south east asian, this restaurant is really the closest you'll ever get to an authentic bowl of Vietnamese pho. Coffee was good too.

Lovely. Three starters. Two were lovely...the third not so great, but that was because we chose the wrong thing. Service was good. Food arrived promptly and hot. Salt and pepper squid and prawns were delicious. My beef and stir fried vegetable was great. Would return and recommend to others.

The service was poor. I had to keep asking the servers to come over, one of whom didn't speak English. However, the vegan sharing plate was delicious! I had the vegetable Pho was for me was too salty and was lacking in vegetables. Overall it was an OK experience.

I think the soup is quite light and sweet. My friends think it's a bit bland Covers of some classic songs Has retro style

I love pho, I went to Vietnam and tried it there so my standards are really high. This is hands down the best pho I've had in Manchester, I haven't been to all places that sell pho in Manchester but I've been to 5 different pho restaurants. Anyway, it's amazing here, beautiful broth.

Amazing phở! I used to live in Hanoi and this is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant.

I was welcomed with a smile by the lady at the counter, although she looked to be occupied. Took away a beef pho, the broth was 10/10. Maybe it has MSG but I have eaten pho with MSG laden soup that didn’t even taste as good as this was. This broth makes you go mmmmm…… Lovely owners and staff and a bowl of affordable and wonderfully cooked pho.

OBSESSED with Pho No. 1 …. WHY ? Because everywhere else is Pho NUMBER 2 in comparison. This place is LEGIT! I just picked up my regular dishes tonight and drove them back to West Yorkshire and it was still mega HOT! Also the morning glory is incredible …just like being in the motherland. The pho is fragrant and the beef is outstanding. We love sitting inside, it’s so authentic and they even play VTV. Also Lan who serves us is always a sweetheart. I can’t shout about this place enough. Em Yeu Pho No. 1 …. NGON NGON 🥰🥰🥰

The chicken looked a bit pink. I had it taken back for further cooking. There was some shouting in the kitchen and the waiter reappeared with a shrug. "It's supposed to look like that, sir."

This restaurant is a hidden gem! Our friends recommended this restaurant. It's definitely a good value for money. I ordered their vegetarian pho. They're very generous with the portion and the taste was delicious. Usually you would expect a bland vegetable broth but it was tasty and I didn't feel thirsty afterward. It's not that far from the city either.

Popped in for a late lunch on Sunday with my daughter. I had chicken chilli and my daughter had rare beef pho. Both dishes were delicious and great value. My daughters said it was her “most favourite soup ever”. Definitely be visiting again soon.

Great place! Grabbed pho and starters to collect and there was so much food. Prices were so reasonable and it tasted so good. The broth was exceptional and the papaya salad was unreal!

Really tasty Vietnamese food. Nice cosy atmosphere and quick service. The salt and pepper squid had the best texture and nearly melted in our mouths. The flat noodles were just the right stickiness that made it so easy to eat with chopsticks. I'd definitely recommend the Vietnamese BBQ beef.

A lunchtime visit, midweek. It’s authentic Vietnamese food with many locals coming and going. Reasonably price and decent service. A must try when in the area!

Atmosphere: they don't mess around with all that fancy distracting and eclectic interior nonsense. Instead, they give you everything you need to enjoy the food; as in a large table for all of the food you're going to order, chairs to park in, table caddie with everything to eat with. Food: often is the weird word "authentic" thrown around when describing ethnic foods (especially by those who have been there and had the "real" experience). Now these guys here, they know exactly what they are doing! Their food is packed full of flavour, and there's plenty of it. Service: we were cared for, on this visit, by a wonderfully polite and friendly server. I'm super angry at myself for not asking for her name so I could address her correctly here, but it is just her on her own looking after a total 22 covers. The food was out within 15 minutes (I tip my hat to chef and BoH team!) and was fresh and presented with no pretence nor any fancy nonsense. Pricing: if they charged 25% more, I still would say that it was cheap! For the price that they have set, the amount we had to drink and eat, and the quality of the food, not to mention the service, it was more than fair. Final Thoughts: whether if it's a date, a family meal, a great feast, a quick and filling snack, (and of course, if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food) Pho No. 1 has got you covered and well worth their inexpensive price tag.

Myself and a friend shared the vegetarian starter platter and both had a banh mi (1 tofu and the other pork) We both agreed it was one of our favourite meals we’ve had in Manchester, the food was so so tasty. They have really good options for veggies too which is fab! Will definitely be back as everything on the menu sounded amazing! The dishes are also amazing value for money as well.

We've been back three times already! We had the traditional starter for 2 (£14.9), I really enjoyed the prawn toast. So got to try a little bit of everything! Both the tofu summer rolls (£4.5) and pork BBQ baguette (£5) were scrumptious!! Two Vietnamese coffee for £6. The total bill was about £31.4 only! This definitely was a good value for what we had. Highly recommend the prawn and pork summer rolls for £4.9 (goi cuon), steam rolls £6.9 (banh cuon) and the Mekong catfish clay pot £9 (ca kho). This is my favourite dish, really simply prepared with some steamed rice and the sauce was so delicious. The rare beef pho was a really generous portion and also really good : the broth was full of flavour and slightly sweeter than other pho I've had, this is the sweet taste from the beef! Really looking forward to going back and trying some more of the menu, as well as some Vietnamese food in Pho no.1.

After trying another supposedly authentic Vietnamese place on Oldham Rd, we were disappointed. Pho No.1 didn't disappoint. The proprietors here are cheery and the service is extremely quick. The food came very quickly and was piping hot. There could have been a few more prawns in the papaya and prawn salad, but the flavours were truly authentic and the prawns we got were top quality. Sweet and tangy, and extremely fragrant flavours excited us!. With our vegetable clay pit main (a specialty) we got a massive portion of rice, inclusive. It was sticky rice and cooked to perfection. The vegetables and the sauce in the broth were delicious. Then, we ordered chicken wings and some spring rolls. They were truly exceptional. The whole meal, a main and at least 4 sides/starters and 2 cans of coke was £36. Great value and truly wonderful people serving food in a cozy little 'front room' like setting. We can't wait to go again

Great food then I had Bún thịt nướng which is one of my favourite dishes and it was heaven the pork was so good. Got some Grilled Pork Baguette to take away too which were bloody gorgeous. It is the best Vietnamese restaurant we’ve been to in the Manchester and London. Can't wait to come back and try some more of the menu. 😋
