Pho in Exeter

A bustling Friday night didn't stop our food from being delivered promptly and cheerfully. Pho has a decent range of reasonably priced Vietnamese dishes to suit all palates. I've never come away from Pho in Exeter, Bristol or Cardiff feeling less than satisfied with my meal or service.

Tbh couldn't count how many times I have been to the restaurant. Still love baby squid dish. Today, I have two snacks, baby squid 🐙 and crispy spring rolls. 10/10 for the food today. Love the atmosphere and the customer service.

Not authentic at all. Just call it Vietnamese inspired fusion pho or something. Flavor is lacking. Watered down for unfamiliar palette.

Great chicken pho… really friendly staff and great service

I love going to Pho because the food is absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and the prices are really good. My kids, who are picky eaters, love the children's menu - they eat everything and really enjoy it. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and the staff is always super friendly. Pho is definitely one of my top restaurants in Exeter!

Loved my visit today We where let down by who we have booked a table with and was lovely even though very busy to be seated with my father in a wheelchair and isn't always easy to fit us in when it's busy Had some lovely food even if we didn't really know how to eat it The beef combo in broth was amazing the broth is lovely meat was so good Since almost all the menu is gluten free my wife just ordered what she wanted with no hesitation but our lovely server made sure it was still put down Lovely atmosphere I was a little worried when it looked like we where all sat so close but it was lovely with everyone in the building having there own chats Didn't matter if there was 4 to 6 people or dining on there own all was welcome

I love Pho, it’s one of my favourite foods. I am currently unwell so I thought pho would help me on the road to recovery. I ordered the immunity boost deal via the website which took me to a deliveroo page. When the meal arrived the driver informed me the restaurant forgot to pack my drink (£4.50 if bought outside of the deal). The driver said I have to contact deliveroo but when I called the number on the order details, the call went through to pho and the person who answered the phone said they’d investigate but didn’t take my details and then cut me off. I called pho back who said I should call deliveroo who she said should have contacted me to arrange a refund as they won’t replace the missing drink ‘no available drivers’. I contacted them 3 times: phone twice and once online. then received an email advising deliveroo have refunded me 80p! presumably because the drink was part of a meal deal ! So not only did I not get my drink but I have actually not received any ‘deal’ having paid what is now essentially full price for the main meal and starter with no drink. It feels like a scam, customers think we’re getting a good deal and then Pho leave out an important element, refusing to replace it and then refund a minuscule percentage of said missing drink so you’re actually paying normal price and not receiving any deal . I am incredibly disappointed with this service and honest has put me off using Pho again which is a shame as it’s our favourite family restaurant

We were on a day trip to Exeter and had already decided to visit Pho before arriving after researching online. We aren’t strangers to Vietnamese food so perhaps our expectations are a little high, however simple mistakes were made. The beef brisket pho noodle soup was overly bland. When a member of staff asked how our food was, I pointed out my displeasure and he seemed to nod and walk off. He came back shortly after and suggested I add the fish sauce condiment on the table. While that may have helped, the base soup shouldn’t have relied on me adding a sauce to give it actual body and flavour. The brisket it self was nice, but it didn’t seem authentic and it was overly thick for that type of dish, almost off putting to eat. The beef betel also looked unappetising, and the actual beef was quite dry and chewy. The vegetable garnishes were good, as was the sauce which accompanied the dish but they need to use better quality beef and they need to wrap it better in the betel leaf. Failure to do so makes it look awfully similar to a dog poo in the park (Refer to picture). The wok fried rice was actually very nice, but maybe spice rating would be helpful as my wife couldn’t handle it despite being relatively good with spice. Overall I enjoyed it though and would order this again. The restaurant gives the impression of being family friendly with its child menu, but we were disappointing to only see one rest room which was for “whichever” (their words) meaning it was a mixed gender bathroom. Not ideal for a parent wishing to take their three year old daughter to the toilet - having to share it with both men and women simultaneously. When it came to paying the waitress brought over a card reader and went straight to the payment screen. Luckily my wife had my card and was taking our daughter to the rest room so I delayed paying and she left the card reader at the table. I decided to press back on the payment screen to view the order details. It appeared that we had been unknowingly charger for an optional service fee which was £6.79. I noticed the waitress give me a strange look from a distance when she saw me looking at the card reader because she realised she had been caught out. Needless to say, she didn’t come back over. I ended up calling over one of the male waiters and asked him if the service fee was “optional” and he said yes, so I asked him to take it off, which he did. The underhandedness left a bad taste in my mouth, but then again having said that a bad taste is better than “no taste pho soup”.

Delicious food but very small portions. Ordered the pho and the beef curry. The curry was ridiculously small for 15 pounds. Had to make my own rice just to bulk it out. Disappointed

Quickly seated but then ignored by staff who wouldn’t take our order until we got their attention, even though they took the orders of people seated well after us first!

Bustling atmosphere on a Friday night but we were served our meals and drinks quickly and these were a high standard as we are used to from takeaway (tofu & mushroom wok fried noodle for me, beef brisket curry for the other two) with some spicy and homemade lemonade and glass of wine plus some prawnless crackers to share (hot sauce, fish sauce and chilli mix on the table). The lemonade was quite pricey and my main disappointment was a £7.58 (12.5%) service charge being added to our bill without being informed of this. Otherwise a tasty meal and 15% off for my son in future when he gets his student card (and if he can ever afford it). Plenty of gluten free and vegan dishes.

Stopped at Pho for lunch, first time to have a Vietnamese meal and really enjoyed it, loved the crispy springs rolls. The main meal was delicious and very filling, bit of fun trying to use chopsticks but feel I did quite well. Would recommend this place.

Good food if slightly unauthentic but it does the job if you want a quick hot bowl of soup and noodles.

Absolutely Delicious and Friendly Service for the Whole Family. Today I had the pleasure of dining at Pho Restaurant in Exeter with my family of four, including two very picky children. The Thai food was simply incredible. Every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. They even had kid-friendly options that were both delicious and nutritious. And also has crayons and colouring sheets to keep kids occupied. But the food wasn't the only standout. The management and staff, especially lovely managers Daria and Maciej, were incredibly friendly and inviting, making us all feel so welcome. If you're looking for a family-friendly restaurant with authentic Thai cuisine and exceptional service, I highly recommend giving Pho Restaurant a try. We will be returning!

Great food, I come here all the time with my friends and we always have a good time. All the staff members are super friendly and we've gotten to know them, which is nice! Our favorite dishes are the tofu curry and the curry noodle soup 🍜 Highly recommend!

Such a great restaurant, there's so many vegan options! Our waitress was vegan too so she gave us some really good recommendations that we could trust (thank you Paula!) The atmosphere is good and all the staff are all super friendly. Portions are super generous for the price too! Will definitely be back! 🩷

The food was pretty yummy, i especially enjoyed the crispy spring rolls and peanut sauce. There was a slight mix up giving us the wrong order, however they were very good and professional and fixed that straight away, so can’t fault them on that. I really liked the atmosphere. The portion sizes are great, I didn’t manage to finish mine but I was allowed to take it home in a take away container which I appreciated.

What can I say popped in on the off chance to see if they were still serving. Was welcomed so nice with a smile The guy said yes perfect because it was late. Took our food back to the hotel. My word the food was top tier absolutely delicious was so tasty and full of flavour. Compliments to the chef I would highly recommend to eat from here. Thank you for your kindness

Despite being very busy they found me a table. Food excellent: I had the steak and garlic pho, delicious..service fast and unobtrusive. Super efficient utterly charming manageress kept everything buzzing. Highly recommended.

It was ok, it's your run of the mill chain restaurant. The 'this isnt chicken' pho I had was salty. The wait for the meal was much longer than expected, an update or aknowledgement from staff would have made the wait bearable but my table was ignored until the food was ready. Staff spilt some of the drink when serving

Hi everyone, just visited pho for some lunch with the fam. My my, what a wonderful experience iman and Cedric provided us! The whole staff were so kind and helpful… and must I say, what a good looking team of staff they have 🙈 I will be back again!

Pho is a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Exeter, serving up authentic and delicious dishes. I recently enjoyed their fish curry, which was absolutely amazing. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked, the curry sauce was flavorful and fragrant, with a subtle coconut flavour and the bowl included fresh spinach which added a nice touch of freshness. I was given the choice of hot-or not and mine included thinly sliced, fresh, hot chillies. A lovely homemade lemonade rounded it off nicely. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is clean and modern. It’s also in the heart of the city but away from traffic, with plenty of choice of seating, inside and out. I highly recommend Pho to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable Vietnamese meal in Exeter.

Ate here for the third time in 2 weeks yesterday, takes me straight back to Hanoi every time! Food is incredible and service fantastic every time - big shout out to Grace who went above and beyond for us! Could not recommend Pho more!

Grilled spring rolls, banh xeo, beef noodle soup, are not even 1% similar to Vietnamese dishes because the first time I tried them here made me so disappointed, and the coconut water is like water!

Quick and easy service - clean with good food. Had the papaya salad and the pork balls. Both very tasty. Partner had the noodles dish with spring rolls. Very delicious, crunchy spring rolls

If you are Vietnamese, do not come here unless you enjoy the feeling of disappointment. I cannot for the life of me understand how this chain has such good reviews. I have tried their pho, bun Bo hue, chicken wings, summer rolls, and a curry soup, and 1 out of those 5 I enjoyed. If these restaurants can put Vietnamese food on the map then I am happy, HOWEVER, this is barely Vietnamese food. The summer rolls I got because I thought “how could they possibly mess that up?”.. well, their answer is this: overly wet veggies, flavorless prawns, and insanely thick wrappers that were literally like chewing gum. The Bun Bo Hue left me wondering, where’s the bun? Where’s the bo? Where’s the hue? It is NOTHING like a real bun Bo hue. They couldn’t even put the right noodles in there🤦🏼‍♂️ And the brisket is disgusting and should not be in a Vietnamese soup - if you see the word “brisket” on the menu, do not get it. The flavor was fine but they shouldn’t call it a bun Bo hue. Clearly, I’m offended. I would recommend the chicken wings which are delicious and indulgent. Their iced coffee is also the way I like it. Anyway, never eating at a Pho again.

As always, amazing fresh tasting food with so much flavour! Never misses and service is always attentive and friendly! Cocktails and music vibes were great also. Highly recommend to anyone coming to Exeter for a place to eat!

Ate here Wednesday night after a really long day and the food is always reliable with a chain. Our server Paula really made our day! Her service was friendly, patient, and knowledgable and Paula had some great vegan recommendations! Honestly, everyone’s gotta try the prawnless crackers.

Had a lovely experience at Pho, whilst out for a family meal. We were quickly seated and very well looked after by our waitress Paula. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, which was delicious. The dishes are always very unique, even when our whole party is vegan. We didn’t have to compromise at all. The whole atmosphere and vibe was very enjoyable and welcoming. Looking forward to going back soon.

We were traveling around Devon and Cornwall last week. and have lunch here at the weekend. It was quiet when we walk in at peak lunch hours - did not think much of it. Overall, we found the food was bland - certainly not the best Vietnamese food we have. Could not fault the service until I went up to the till to pay. The man at the till did not show me the bill, just took my card told me the amount. I did not think much and keyed in the PIN. While walking away and I then realized that the total bill was a bit higher than I expected. I walked back and asked for the bill. When I check it later, it included an "Optional Service Chg" item - work out to be 12.5%. There is no mention of this "Optional Service Chg" on the menu and he certainly did not tell me. Well, it is my own fault - I have a small rucksack and body bag so it is very clear that I am a tourist. The man did not show me the bill AND I did not asked for the bill before I keyed in the PIN. To be honest, I would have given them 10% service charge for the waiters and waitresses - not the kitchen. Hence one star - food not great and felt cheated at the till.

The food was absolutely tremendous, great value for money. We had an amazing selection of dishes all extremely tasty. The Vietnamese coffee was a real eye opener, I loved it, finished the meal off perfectly. All the staff were helpful and attentive and happy to help us.

The only thing is the music choices playing are questionable, it seems to be techno-pop stuff, but then again my personal music taste might be different from their target audience. Got the chicken pho but the chicken was way too dry and not enough noodles to go with it. The broth tasted alright and the curry noodles was decent aswell. This place is overrated and not worth the wait if you haven't booked beforehand.

Nice place, very nice atmosphere and kind + helpful staff. The food involving curry was good, however the original chicken pho wasn't nearly as flavourful as other pho I've had for the same price, as well as the chicken for all pho being extremely dry (we couldn't finish it). Additionally the 12.5% optional service charge is absolutely insane.

I had the stir-fried chicken noodles. Did not wait long at all and it was super tasty. Along with friendly service throughout makes this place highly recommended by me.

We got in between lunch n dinner period so atmosphere was chill and food was superb. Had pancakes with beer. Then for dessert, had pandan waffle with coconut ice cream. So goodddd. Cant even ask more for everything.
