Family run business that doesn’t recognise customer loyalty and the new regime doesn’t know the first thing about customer service. Spent £50 on an online order, didn’t get delivered and they didn’t care less and were very rude. Please don’t waste your money at Philp’s their product quality has also reduced over the last few years, there are much better pasty makers in Cornwall that appreciate customer loyalty and know what customer service is.

Arriving in the pouring rain to a queue out the door was not a great start. It was lunchtime and I’d imagine this is perhaps their busiest time of day. I’d heard great things about Philp’s pasties but as I stood wrestling with my umbrella I wondered if it would be worth the wet feet. We queued for about 20 minutes before we were served. The only menus we could see were inside and not clearly readable unless near the front. By the time it was our turn to be served, we felt massively under pressure to hurry up and choose to make way for the next person. I think if we’d had large menus visible from the outside/start of the queue, it would have given us plenty of time to figure out what we wanted and perhaps the anticipation and deliberation would have been a welcome distraction to all the rain! All that said, when we finally got to eat them they were undoubtedly the best we’ve ever had - the pastry is incredible! We will visit again but will perhaps pick a better time of day.More/bigger/clearer menus and a larger covered waiting area outside the door would have made it a 5 star experience for me.

On three occasions now I have visited this shop since it has opened and all three occasions I have been disappointed.First time round they had no steak pasties, bearing in mind it was mid morning just before the lunch time rush, and when asked if they had any gluten free veggie pasties I was informed that they would need at least two hours notice! Now I understand that the difficulties of cross contamination but two hours! On the second occasion again no steak pasties, no chicken pasties and no veggie pasties. At this point I was wondering if this is indeed a pasty shop!On the third and may I add my last ever visit guess what no steak pasties available for at least 10 minutes, no chicken at all and only a few veggie, which incidentally would have been sold before I even got serve as they were the only option. In my opinion Philps pasties are the best in Cornwall but the poor organisation and availability has put me off ever entering these shops again.Be warned Philps there are other pasties shops in Camborne that can provide the product with out the wait so may I suggest you pull your socks up or concede to the other suppliers........

When we were in the shop i noticed they post pasties to any destination in the country so i immediately thought this would be a good idea for my husband's birthday. There is a selection of hampers on-line or you can just order as many pasties as you like! I ordered a hamper and when it arrived i was amazed, it was huge. There were six pasties, six large scones, six large rock cakes, a cinnamon loaf, a large jar of jam, clotted cream, a packet of sea salt, a tin of cornish biscuits and a t-towel! Absolutely brilliant. The overall service was great, with the hamper arriving at 9am on the required day. Pasty's, Cornish that is, are not my number one meal. Most of the output of Cornish pasty's around the country and down here in Cornwall are not the best at a satisfying meal. Most contain a mixture of potatoes, onions and swede in what could only politely be called mush with a somewhat dubious addition of meat that could be minced or chunks. However the quality of Philps is very good in a shortcrust pastry and a generous quantity of steak. Give them a try.

If you want a real Cornish Pasty, this is the place. Their other fare is excellent too, easy access and parking off the main road, the staff were delightful, and double wrapped my pasty's for travelling too.

Living in London I've learned to make do with the strange grey and brown matter you can find in Cornish pasties there. Compared to that Philp's pasties are simply amazing! Nice chunks of beef inside, discernible ingredients, a peppery taste. There are other versions as well, chicken, etc. Everything comes in bigger portions than in Singapore-on-Thames. The sausage roll is super-sized, same goes for the sweet treats.

If you want a breakfast on the go, this is the place to go. Never even heard of a breakfast pasty. My sister fell in love with them, full English wrapped in pastry who could ask for more. Ideal if your going out and about, the traditional pasties there are great as well and all baked fresh.

Cornish yes but these are not the best. A little over priced very heavy on the pepper and the queues are not worth the end result.

Wonderful pasties, lots of filling and not too peppery. You can tell these are excellent by the fact that there is always a queue!!! Excellent pasties.

Tried pasties purchased from Warrens Bakery and Rowes and these didn't come close to those made by Philps. If you want quality and the true taste of Cornish tradition and heritage then come to Philps in Hayle. They provide approx 6 flavours to ensure their eye is kept on the traditional steak which contains steak chunks and all the veg inside are cooked to perfection (soft). Also the crimp is not as chunky as the others so a bite always contains the filling and not just pastry! Yum yum............
