Popped in here for a quick snack, first time I’ve visited - the person behind the counter was so unfriendly, well actually she didn’t mutter one word at all. Sandwich wasn’t very nice and my daughter’s chicken was ‘stewed’ although she said it tasted okay. Dirty uncleared tables. Wouldn’t ever return again.

Really poor service asked if they could bring my drink over as I was stood there with a full breakfast plate and bags and the lady said “put your plate down and come back”. I wish I’d just put my plate down and left, the food was cold and the service was abysmal in short I won’t be returning here again.

Immaculately clean, spacious, wonderful staff, amazing value, great food. Open nice and early at 6 am so I was pleased to find this place for breakfast after arriving in the City.

They had really good sandwiches and the staffs were really nice . The had excellent coffee and I had the Christmas special yorkshire pudding which was excellent.

Chose to get a sandwich here as rid heard it was good. Whilst o could choose all the different elements and salad I wanted in my sandwich the price was not as advertised nor was the sandwich anything great. Disappointed, felt ripped off and I wouldn’t return

Hoy compré una ensalada César, que siempre es muy buena. El pollo y el tocino normalmente se reparten en porciones, sin embargo, hoy el servidor recogió el pollo cocido con su mano enguantada y luego procedió a agregar las cebollas de pepino, tomate, etc. con la misma mano sin cambiar sus guantes. Obviamente soy un glotón para el castigo: tercera visita a Philpotts en 2 semanas, ¡cada vez una experiencia terrible! Se descartó "Sandwich caliente" en las 2 visitas anteriores: ¡pan duro, relleno frío con la mayoría de lo que dice en el tablero que falta en el sandwich! Thankfully there is plenty of choice for places to get a sandwich in the area a point Philpotts should pay attention to.Choice very good although you have so second guess the sandwich fillingsStaff behind the sandwich counter need more customer service trainingWhy does philpotts think it is acceptable for staff to make your sandwich with their bare hands and not using gloves didn't even wash their hands after serving my chicken sandwich before preparing a vegetarian sandwich and it is this point that makes my return very unlikely.

Tuve la suerte de estar trabajando al lado en la Facultad de Odontología. El primer día lo invité a tomar un café esperando algo promedio, pero fue un café realmente agradable con un precio muy razonable.Fuimos al día siguiente por un sándwich y más café y todavía no me decepcionó. Sándwich bien lleno y otra vez más buen café. Con un montón de espacio para sentarse, estás en un ganador.

A great little cafe to get a quick breakfast or cuppa at. Friendly, quick service and reasonable prices. Recommended.

Always fresh, with an extremely extensive selection of fillings. Phillpotts never fails to impress....Would just like to see a few more snacks available along side the sandwiches

I stop at Philpotts for a coffee and a sandwich whenever I'm working in the area. The coffee is good and tasty, the sandwiches always freshly made from good quality ingredients, and the service is never anything but top notch. Well worth a stop for a busy business person after a quick bite!

Must have missed the memo but always regarded Philpotts of being a more upmarket pleasant place to buy a sandwich, especially at the prices, but the last three times I’ve been here including today Tuesday 11 October (Colmore Square branch) I’ve been served by the most obnoxious and rude loudmouth I’ve seen (and I’ve been to plenty of football matches). Shouting along the counter, no eye contact, Maybe he’s trying to get a vibrant atmosphere going with the staff, I don’t expect it here. I paid with contactless hoping for a receipt and he just carried on his conversation with a girl further up before walking away, having a great banter time he was, the customer was invisible, the kind of experience I’d expect in a Select & Save, please re-train your staff, Monty’s from now for me

Must say lovely food, lovely staff, quick and efficient service! Was down in Birmingham for a business trip and ended up going back! Sandwiches made fresh and reasonably priced!

The 'Cajun chicken' filling in my baguette was largely cheese. Most disappointing, and could be quite serious if I'd had a dairy allergy. The hot 'roasts' Philpotts do are good but for sandwiches there are plenty of other places to choose from

Los sandwiches recién hechos son de gran calidad y valor. Tuve un increíble pastrami, Stilton, jalape os y mayonesa que estaba absolutamente lleno y delicioso. Solo piense que están siendo un poco codiciosos con el precio de los refrescos y las patatas fritas. Así que la lección aprendida fue que el sándwich tenía 4 pero un valor increíble para el sabor. Solo consigue tu bebida o artículos diversos en un supermercado. Además, haz tu parte por el medio ambiente, vi a los clientes pedir una bolsa de papel, solo tomar un sándwich, beber y patatas fritas, a menos de 4 m de las mesas de afuera. Volvería a visitar debido a las excelentes opciones que aún no exploré.

Recogí un sándwich y en la cola para pagar. En los mostradores donde no había clientes, había mucho personal conversando entre ellos. Donde t estaba ocupado; una niña tratando de hacer café y tomar los sándwiches. Un hurra ignorante Henry se unió a mí y cuando finalmente llegó un hombre le sirvió primero. El servidor sabía que yo era el siguiente y el señor arrogante era grosero. Mi dinero es tan bueno como el suyo. Así que dejé el sándwich y salí. Intente y priorice que no estaba parado allí con dinero en mi tener a las diez menos ocho por una broma. De todos modos, es caro, así que un poco de servicio al cliente sería bueno.

The staff here are so slow they could actually be asleep. When I finally got my overpriced plastic breakfast box after hovering for 5 minutes they gave me a pathetically weak plastic fork which was wholly inadequate and annoying.

Vine aquí con mi madre hoy, sólo quería un sándwich y una bebida. Guau, qué selección de sándwiches. Demasiada variedad, me tomó años en decidir. Tuve Turquía, tocino y relleno. Fue hecho justo en frente de mí, la chica que hizo que mi sandwich estaba usando un delantal y guantes, muy limpio.

Un salto en ensaladas para el almuerzo en el trabajo. mientras Tuve la carne rara que era raro y no azul cortada en trozos demasiado grandes para entrar en su boca y dos difícil hincarle o cortar! La ensalada también se hizo con las manos, ¿por qué el personal no están usando guantes higiene? ? Entonces la persona que hizo mi ensalada y luego nos cambiamos a la cajas para servir y dinero manejado. Yo realmente no debería haber pagado o intentado comer la ensalada, pero lo hice y fue asqueroso! No volveremos!

Fui a un colega recientemente con Philpotts de trabajo, él había tenido una buena experiencia en una visita anterior. Pensé que iban a tener una mejor variedad de sándwiches, pero lo que tenían para vegetarianos era mediocre, así que decidimos hacer un sándwich de ensalada hummus. No me di cuenta de que la persona que sirve se había difundido el hummus realmente encubierto, como mantequilla. Love this place whenever I come nearby for work. Lovely fresh sandwiches made up with fillings of your choice. Breakfast sandwiches available fresh too - would recommend bacon and hash brown one! Very friendly staff too.

Use here mainly for breakfast. You get lots of sausage and bacon in your sandwich. Reasonable prices when compared with nearby expensive places like pret. Also nice friendly staff. The dinner time fillings look good as well.

Muy buena selección de sándwiches servidos en bloomer pan y buena selección de cajas de ensaladas. También hay sándwiches calientes y sopa asado diario la encantadora señora que me atendió fue muy amable. Yo opté por la barbacoa de pollo con lechuga y menta envoltura yogur. Estaba delicioso y regado con una taza de té. No se lleno pero el personal en la cajas trabajan su magia y no esperar mucho tiempo. El personal era muy cortés y servicial no dudaría en volver.

Philpotts are a chain and I've visited before in Manchester. This one is well positioned, large, good service and lots of choice if you not watching carbs or calorie intake.

I often go to Philpotts, its expensive for a work time lunch break but well worth it. Friday Philpotts as a treat to end the week

Excelente selección de sándwiches, ensaladas, wraps, sopas recién hechas, chaquetas, tartas, tentenpiés, etc. con personal servicial es realmente preciosa, y tanto un hecho comprobar y crear su propia opción. Mayor de dos sucursales en la zona y recientemente me di cuenta de que también tenía sucursales en Manchester. Comida y aperitivos presentados de forma atractiva y ah 10% de descuento para algunas de las empresas locales grandes en presentación de su pase.

Popped in for a salad at lunchtime. At £4.10 for a small salad. There were 2 staff behind the salad bar. One with gloves and one without. The one serving me was thrusting hands into all of the ingredients and throwing into a bowl. I was horrified. I took the salad bowl and explained at the till I wouldn't be paying for it as it wasn't prepared with gloves. No apology from man at the till. Will not be going back. The cheesecake I bought for dessert will be my lunch.

This is a nice place to grab a decent lunch the food is great and I understand why it's so popular. It's never disappointing. Great service.

Great for lunch and coffee, large selection of hot and cold food. All very tasty :). Slightly over priced for what you get but properly competitive to places like Starbucks etc. Would recommend for lunch whilst shopping, no complaints with service all the staff friendly. A good visit in all.

I was shocked to learn that Philpotts uses Brakes catering company products by simply repackaging it in a Philpotts branded plastic tub with a smidgeon of rocket to garnish. The pleasant enough salad I ate was simply Brake's Beetroot couscous salad with a shelled hard boiled egg: I'd rather not know the credentials of the egg but obviously cheap (no pun intended) and unlikely free range. A bit more fresh ingredients and input on behalf of Philpotts is in order!

Have recently started to eat here as it is near to the hospital my son is having treatment at. There is a massive selection of high quality food and top-end snacks. Not the cheapest of places but you do pay for what you get. Staff are happy to help when ordering something a bit picky. The only down point is that during quieter periods it can be a bit tricky to get served quickly (ironic) as staff appear to have specific roles so all points of the line aren't always manned.Otherwise, very good!

I visited Philpotts with my father & my baby son. It looks quite small from the outside so I was extremely pleasantly surprised to discover that it was actually quite large & airy inside & that they served a wide range of food (including noodles, hot & cold sandwiches & jacket potatoes). The staff were helpful & friendly & despite being busy the queues moved quickly. Our total bill was a very economical £12.00 for two large sandwiches, two snacks & two drinks. It was slightly too noisy inside for my son but there was ample seating outside.

Just the worse customer service! Staff more interested in talking to each other/ shouting across the cafe than serving customers! Only ever one person in the till and food is usually cold by the time the staff have finished their conversations and given it to you! Looks grubby around the edges too

I have been regular lunch visitor to Philpotts Colmore Circus for years now as it is ideally located by my office. Over the years I have seen the level of service drop to the point where it is just not worth visiting anymore. I have no issue with the quality of food in Philpotts and those who prepare it as it is always of a high standard (however you have to pay a premium for it). What I do object to and do not understand is why they never have enough people manning the tills. To put it in context at 1pm on a Monday lunch time there was two people serving the tills in Philpotts. Today after again getting stuck in a queue following yet another till mishap I decided to leave and visit Pret instead. Pret had 6 people on the tills all ready and eager to take your order. All in all I was in and out of Pret within a couple of minutes. Also in Pret they always seem to be friendly and efficient unlike Philpotts. Other service issues for Philpotts, they never give you napkin! This may seem petty but other places manage to do this so why can't they.What most frustrates about Philpotts is if they expect to charge premium prices for premium food then they should have the service to match it.

Have been popping in before work for my teacake, the lady from the philpots over the road was working there and happened to serve me. She was all over the show, dropped a customers toast on the floor so they had to wait longer, i had to wait longer, the queue had to wait longer.. Never normally have any issues with these guys in my short time of coming. Anyhow the lady serving me asked while buttering my teacake if my teacake is 'ok for me' i said yes as i thought she meant did i want just butter on it which i did. I realised why she asked this and i took it out to eat it and it was tough. Like retoasted tough. I couldn't eat it. Was let down i'm afraid. Waiting 10 mins for a poor service. Not worth it.

Called the store at 9.38am to place a breakfast order for myself and work colleagues. I was told that I will receive a call back when the food is ready, which I received at 10.14am. I made my way to the store and waited for at least 5 minutes and the staff just looked at my face and didn't ask once if I was being served. Then I approached one member of staff at the breakfast server and was told to wait. Then the fire alarm started ringing and we were told to evacuate the building. I waited over 20 minutes and walked back to my work place which was just over the road, approximately 2 minutes walk or less.After 1 hour of waiting, a work colleague went to see if they were up and running again. We waited in the queue and was served by BAV at the till. The order was 3 breakfast sandwiches and 1 chicken salad sandwich. The Chicken salad sandwich wasn't even written down on the order, Then my colleague asked were the chicken salad sandwich is and he was given a plain chicken salad which wasn't even ordered.When the food was handed out within the team, I was given a chicken salad and called the store up to ask what has happened as this is not what I ordered. The call was answered by BAV who said this is what was given to my colleague and I might aswel give it to someone else or throw it in the bin. I asked if I can swap it or if he can put the call through to the lady who took my order as it shows clearly that she took the orders down but didn't even write my order down on the paper. He said there are 10 women here and he wouldn't know who that would be, and on top of that I asked if someone can swap or deliver the correct order to the office as I cannot keep wasting time on breakfast orders as I have already wasted an hour or more. He said we cannot come to deliver one sandwich. This is the first time I have heard that especially if your store has made this error. I don't see why he couldn't just apologise and try to find a solution instead of being cocky on the phone. But overall, due to his lack of customer service, we will not be ordering from here again. It has been a waste of time and terrible experience. Also the review about receipts is true. They gave me a receipt which I have attached with this review.

I was feeling particularly hungry so ordered 2 cheese toasties for breakfast. The first one had barely any cheese in at all so that cost £2.20 for 2 slices of bread. The second one was marginally better but only to the point that I could taste that is was cheap mild and rubbery cheese.

Would be awkward if you had to claim expenses... my receipt had a vast array of things I hadn't had on it because I was told there was no way to apply a latte onto the till, I raised this with their head office who were concerned and very good at looking into this. This aside the food I had was average fried eggs absolutely swimming in fat which pooled on the plate, mushrooms which looked grey, pretty disappointing. The coffee was okay. There are better places and I wouldn't be keen to go back.

A lovely looking cafe (inside and out) in the business area of Birmingham. Great for a quick breakfast or lunch with lots of variety and choice. I did not try any drinks but had a tuna sandwich. Very fresh and tasty. A bit expensive but worth it. I would recommend.

Enjoyed a chicken blt roll, granola pot and drink for lunch before a meeting in Brum. Busy, not surprised as the immediate area has lots of offices but not many obvious lunch options, but staff quick and also friendly. Separate counters for hot food, freshly made sandwiches, and salads, all with decent choices. Good seating but I imagine it would be full mid-lunch. My food was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced.

Family visit on return to snow hill after bch appointment, very good bacon and sos sandwich and brew,son said ham sandwich was lovely.

Generally a typical sandwich and snack take out with s seating area but the nice bit is they do fresh ddesign yourself sandwiches. There is an added bonus that they do a meal deal for sandwich, cake or crisps and drink for under a fiver!

I had a jacket potato with mixed meat. I was hungry good job as it was huge. Just a shame about the presentation. But all very yummy

I ordered x2 toasted tea cakes at £1.00 each. Took them into work looking forward to having them for my breakfast. Was rather disappointed as they looked as if they'd not even been toasted and they were very stingy with the butter!!! I ate them but was not impressed. The guy who did them for me needs a lesson or two in how to properly toast tea cakes!!!

I popped in here one day for a sandwich and really enjoyed it although I agree the service is slow - perhaps to be expected when sandwiches are made to order. I picked up a business lunch leaflet and have ordered several times. The choice is extensive, especially the vegetarian options and easily ordered on line. Also offered are cakes and 'snack' foods, crisps etc. The food has always been delivered on time and correct. These sandwiches are always a hit for business lunches.

The coffee was OK but probably not worth the long wait to get it. Service was very slow although in fairness it was a very busy time of the day. The café looks bright and airy from outside (some tables in the fresh air). The atmosphere is perfectly pleasant and the place is clean. The food appears fresh and there is a good range of sandwiches, breakfast items etc The place opens early Monday to Fridays (7.00am) so is good for early breakfast if you in this part of town. Prices are 'average' for cafes of this kind.

I visited phil potts in Birmingham for the first time last week. When there I asked for the special sandwich but they had ran out so asked the lady to suggest something. I then noticed that she turned to the tesco value bread on the counter top and made my sandwich with this.I was so gob smacked that I couldn't believe my eyes and just paid.Having had the sandwich I could've got a better one from tesco at half the price. Terrible experience

As it was pay day I decided I would treat myself to a Phillpotts lunch. Having walked past every day on my way to work I have always thought it looked fairly up market and the food in the display fridges looked fresh and well presented, boy was I wrong.I picked a Thai Chicken Sandwich which I took to the till. The customer service skills of the staff were poor and there didn't appear to be any clear queuing system; people were just standing there waiting to be served. I wasn’t offered a bag to put my lunch in, so I just shoved my drink in my handbag and carried the sandwich back to the office.When I opened it up I found a soggy mess of a sandwich. The bread was actually wet, the salad was limp and didn’t look very appetising at all and the whole thing just looked squashed and old. If I’d have known that was all I was getting I would have gone, well…….. anywhere else! I’m not fussy with food at all and hate chucking good food away, but I just could not eat it.This was my first ever visit to Phillpotts and I was really looking forward to a fresh, handmade sandwich. Unfortunately I was left extremely disappointed and quite hungry. So much for my Friday “treat”.

If you want to serve food AND barista style coffee in the morning you need to double your baristas and machines. Queue very long and slow moving

We decided to visit after my son had been to Birmingham Children's Hospital and had cakes and coffee. The cakes were huge and very filling and nice cup of cappacino coffee. Got to go back to hospital next Monday so will definitely return and maybe try a savoury meal as they looked yummy too.

This was a coffee oasis found in the heart of busy city centre. You are overwhelmed by the wide choice of food available and deliciously presented as well. Great tasting coffee washed down with delicious pastries.

Pipped in to get a quick sandwich. Absolutely staggered by the choices available ranging from bread / wraps to fillings. Fantastic. Very tempting hot selection too and good soup options. Service was either to take ready prepared or to order a LA carte.Not the cheapest but definitely value for money

Had lunch here on a weekday and had a the chicken noodles which were really tasty. It was nice to be able to grab a different option to the hum-drum sandwiches on offer in a lot of the other shops in this area. There's a choice of cold sandwiches, carvery sandwiches, noodles, jacket potatoes and plenty of other choices. Would eat here again if in the area

Walking past Philpotts Birmingham most days and knowing that I can buy a sandwich or anything considerably cheaper elsewhere reassures me that I am saving money and spending wisely but today I thought I would treat myself.When I walked in, the displays of food is very well done and looks very appetising and it makes you feel that food is fresh and wholesome. The Staff however seem sometimes very inpatient as you decide on their widely extensive menu what you would like. As food is done to order, you want to make a unrushed decision and more importantly the price is higher so you want to make sure what the prices are first.I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw with beans and the man serving said that he would bring it down to the cashier desk for me when ready.The girl at the till was not very friendly, didn't smile at all and did little to demonstrate her Customer Service Skills. She gave me no bag to carry my goods in and no receipt. She was talking in my presence about another customer unappropriately which wasn't very professional. I stood there thinking she would see me standing with a jacket potato meal and no cutlery or bag but she was too busy talking to colleague.This is not the first bad experience I 've had at this Food Place.Restaurant Manager:- You may have one of the Best Food Places in Birmingham but please remember ordinary people come through your doors and sometimes treat themselves and would like to have an extra ordinary experience too.

it's a perfect place for a sandwich and a coffee at lunch time, I like their duck wrap and their monthly choice of sandwhich. Prices are quite reasonable.
