Fresh, tasty and good value. Great selection of sadwiches and hot food. Lovely staff. A new favourite cafe

Pop in here around twice a.week when hitting the big smoke. Always have the same thing a large Mocha and a freshly made gluten free sandwich with chicken and bacon mayo sarnie. There not advertised but i always always ask for the gluten free chicken nuggets and peri peri wings on top of whatever I order( quite often they have them out back). Friendly service , and the ladies are a right blast.,Always puts a smile on my face and send me 9n my waybwith a smile. .

Horrible customer service, staff are very rude could only sit in seats if you had bought food over £20. Food was soggy and cold, and staff did not take into account my allergies when serving food even tho i specifically asked for food to be prepared separately. Shop manager was so rude and spat in my face when i asked to have cooperates number

I was thoroughly disappointed with this sandwich place. The sandwiches looked absolutely unappetizing, and their taste was equally unimpressive. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying meal. Just buy a Tesco meal deal instead.

Nice place with lots of variety of sandwiches and salads I got chicken tikka mayo but it wasn’t good, maybe ill try something els next time

Hi Stopped at Temple Meads Stations, we had time for some lunch. We went to Philpotts and we do not regret it. Our salads were fresh, abondand, tasty...efficient and friendly staff ! An address to remember !!!

Morning of Monday 12th of October. What an outstanding service. The lady wearing glasses on hot breakfast area was friendly, smiling and on the ball and the tall dark lady on the till saved me 35p on my bill if I have a free bag of crisps. Went above and beyond my expectation.

I cannot fault the team at this location, or the food. Everything is spot on and help out whenever I need it - best team ever!

Used to be my favourite little spot for my break. Since after covid, goodness knows what happened. Such a poor selection of food compared to pre covid, atmosphere very poor or now ( it used to be buzzing). Very disappointing last few visits so I won't be visiting again. Staff spend more time in the back chatting to each other than out at front.

Me and my partner ordered two coffees here at around 11am just before catching a train back home, to which I had asked to be made with oat milk. The enthusiasm of the lady serving us had made us feel very unwelcome. It was this reason that we didnt get a sandwich there. After leaving the shop and having a sip I had noticed that the coffees were made with dairy milk. My partner is dairy intolerant so I was already peeved that the lady serving us had not been more aware to get one coffee order right considering the shop was empty. We returned to the shop and let the lady know that the order was wrong to which she then told me that I didn't ask for oat milk. At this point she took to adopt an attitude as if to not want to acknowledge her mistake and seemed to be projecting at us. We had asked for a refund to which again, she did not hear and then begun to start to fix the order. She then said that she didnt have any oat milk so she couldn't do it and we had to begrudgingly ask again for a refund. She headed out back and then another lady came out to take over. This other lady, God bless her, did everything right. As well as being apologetic she offered to exchange the coffees AND refund us and she also said that they DID have oat milk because they received a delivery of it that morning. The other Woman had walked out of the shop at this point. It should have been a simple experience but ended up leaving us with a bitter taste which is unfortunate as it was our last thing we did before leaving to go home from our lovely stay in Bristol.

I really look forward to grabbing a breakfast sandwich on the way onto work. Quick service and good food.

Despite advertised opening hours until 1430, I was turned away at 1405 today because "we've just closed". No mention of a "last orders" time on the website - so seems a bit unreasonable that they won't sell a sandwich to take away.

Friendly service and sandwich was ok, but for the price the portion and size is weak.

Ordered a tuna roll, but the amount of tuna (one spoonful) didn't even touch the sides.. Disgraceful and overpriced , paying £4.20 I want the roll full.. And a unhelpful, rude assistant who had zero manners.. No please or thank you.. Apart from the lovely lady on the till this is definitely one place to avoid if you fancy a nice sarnie... Worst shop in Bristol

Unfriendly and problematic staff to work with.

Fui a una ensalada de pasta antes de tomar un tren. Tenía un poco de prisa pero solo podía ver 1 o 2 clientes allí, así que pensé que estaría bien. Bueno, a pesar de que había más personal que clientes, tuvo que esperar mientras el personal detrás del mostrador se preocupaba por envoltorios, conversaba y generalmente hacía lo necesario para evitar tener que tratar con los clientes. Señalé que tenía prisa y sentí que me subía la presión de la sangre al ver su cuchara trozos individuales de pasta en el plato. La tina de la ensalada se llenó en exceso y se abrió cuando la puse en la bolsa demasiado pequeña que me dieron. Tuve que volver a meterlo en la bañera con mis manos mientras un miembro del personal particularmente miserable e inútil me consiguió una bolsa nueva. Entré en este lugar perfectamente feliz y tranquilo, me fui enojado y agitado. Perdí mi tren. Dale una litera amplia.

Sterile inside which lacks character & very slow service! Big breakfast sandwiches though, and it did taste good!

Unfortunately not a good place to eat if you have food allergies; almost all the sandwich fillings are served from pre made bowls so items can't be removed. All the pre made mixes also seem to contain mayonnaise. The salads however are made to order so can be customised to your needs.

Went in at lunchtime today and had the meal deal which seems good value. Nice crisps and drink but unfortunately the sandwich was really disappointing. Cheap nasty bread tasteless filling. Egg mayonnaise with crispy bacon and salad, tiny rock hard chips of bacon with nasty egg no mayonnaise and no seasoning. On the plus side the staff were friendly and efficient.

Cued for quite some time this morning and paid £6.00 for a sausage, mushroom, and cheese baguette and a standard latte. Only 2 cheap sausages and freezing cold mushrooms.... breakfast deal states £3.70 for sausage sandwich and hot drink so paid £2.30 extra for mushroom and slice of cheese seems very steep. It's a shame as it's the only place to get breakfast baguette near my new workplace.

Over the last 4 years probably been here 80 - 100 times. Like a morning ritual when we have meetings in Bristol to meet-up here first. Then stopped going when the standard went right down. Recently refurbished been back twice, much better again. But simple order this week for Coffee and toast and it was awful ! The crispness you get in a toaster you don't get in a Sandwich Maker ! PLEASE just spend a little extra money and get a decent toaster.

As is echoed in a few other posts the morale here is low, and staff don't seem invested in the place. Went for coffee and a suasage sandwich. The sausages are so cheap and nasty, sort of freezer style cheap supermarket ones. As per usual the coffee is terrible, here's what went wrong: Didn't know how many shots went into a Flat White, and then became apparent that he didn't know what a 'shot' was. No tamping of the coffee?!?! Grinder was throwing an error message that the blades needed replacing - really importnant! Coffee totally underextrated, was finished in around 5 seconds. Milk not textured, overheated and burnt. Had no resembelance to a specific esspresso based drink. This is always the case, it's so bad, really...

A salad over £5 mainly full of lettuce from unhappy staff with a stupid queueing system. You would do much better if you investigated Lean techniques to get people in and out the door quicker.

El servicio fue lento y la pobre señora de la bodega siguió haciendo disculpas porque no solo era larga la cola para conseguir un sándwich, sino también la cola de la caja fuerte, el resto del personal tampoco estaba tan contento y se quejaba de los niveles de personal y Diferentes alimentos no están disponibles.El sándwich estaba bien, aunque el pan estaba un poco duro, ya que se había dejado sin tapar, también pedía café y, cuando lo desenvolvía, ¡tenía blanco!

Fuimos aquí para tomar un café y un pastel, bajo la impresión de que era una cafetería, ya que había mesas y sillas dentro.Pronto descubrí que puede estar bien si quieres un sándwich para llevar, pero como cafetería deja mucho que desear. No loo, café servido en una taza para llevar, ya sea que se lo lleven o no, sin platos para los pasteles, que estaban envueltos en celofán y no tenían un sabor muy fresco, y prácticamente no había pasteles.La decoración y la señalización son muy de los años 70 (y no de una buena manera), y la reproducción de música fue a principios de los 60 y nada más.Para colmo, estaba sentado al lado del mostrador de sándwich y salté de mi piel cuando el miembro del personal dejó caer algo pesado en el suelo justo al lado de mí. Ni siquiera una disculpa!

I like stopping here for a coffee. The lady serving drinks today was cheerful and efficient. Sat and watched the world go by. The coffee is quite good but as I was drinking it on the premises a proper cup would be nice. Haven't eaten here for a while but their catered/delivered meeting lunches have always been first class. It is primarily a takeout/cafe and as such they appear to do a good range of tasty snack style food. Plenty of customers this morning at any rate. I'll continue to drop in for coffee whenever I'm in Bristol.

Good value, very clean with friendly staff

Good choice of food for lunch (wraps, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads, noodles). Gets really busy at lunch with lots of different queues making it really confusing whether or not you're in the queue or accidentally pushing in. Quite a few of the staff are usually grumpy.

Este es un bar de ensaladas, una tienda de sándwiches, una estación de fideos, sopas caseras, etc. Puedes diseñar el tuyo o comprar algo inventado ese día. Es una buena comida, y está a dos minutos fuera de la estación (puerta lateral al otro lado del aparcamiento, no la puerta principal de los taxis). Lo siento muchachos, pero fui a Philpotts hace años y el emparedado Avacado fue increíble.Regresé años más tarde y tenía una réplica empapada de lo que tenía hace años.Lo que me desanimó esta vez fue que el personal que hacía mi comida no pareció molestarse. Estaban manipulando mi comida sin guantes (y no lavando de antemano), me dieron el orden equivocado y no fue una experiencia amistosa.

Salimos de Temple Meads para una reunión cercana con tiempo de sobra, así que tomamos 20 minutos para el almuerzo. Todo estaba bien, baguettes buenos, precios decentes, comimos. Teniendo en cuenta que hacía mucho frío afuera y la puerta estaba abierta a las 12:30 no teníamos quejas.Podría apretujar 4 *, no, el personal claramente había volado al menos un banco de humor y estaban muy po-faced.Con 20 minutos y la necesidad de almorzar, está bien, pero no uno quedarse en la memoria.

Overall great quality food, especially with the meal deal. Not a great selection of pre-made vegeterian unless they make you one fresh or you have a salad. Busy during the lunch period and felt like two counter positions wasn't enough. Staff friendly and helpful, with plenty of seating available.

No Vegan Food options but a lovely lady called Coleen made me a custom vegan wrap and it was very tasty and reasonably priced 😊 Thank you Coleen 💚

Regularmente utilizo Philpott's como el más cercano a mi oficina, pero estoy harto de la cantidad y la calidad de las ensaladas. Hoy encontré 3 piezas de tomate y 4 de pepino. . . . la ensalada consistía principalmente en hojas de lechuga y tuve que pedir una segunda dosis de aderezo César principalmente para rellenar lo que claramente sería una cantidad mínima de otros ingredientes. . . . la mayoría de los artículos de ensalada parecían cansados, como si estuvieran allí toda la mañana también. . . . Creo que Philpott ha sido golpeado negativamente por la competencia de otras barras de sándwich, pero al servicio de sus clientes leales restantes con ingredientes menos que satisfactorios y apenas cantidades no va a mantenerlo abierto durante mucho más tiempo. . . por cierto 4. 25 para eso. . . Lo impresionados en absolutamente ocurrió aquí. Philpotts regularmente para el desayuno y el almuerzo ya que trabajo en el mismo edificio y nunca un problema.

La mejor "Nueva York Deli sandwich" que he tenido con pastrón, Queso Suizo emmenthal, col, recién cortada en rodajas vinagreta y mostaza inglesa (en lugar de mayonesa), hizo recién delante de mí. . . Por sólo £3.. 35

Me llevé un £4. Ensalada de pasta griega hoy 25. Era prácticamente una caja llena de pasta. Encontré dos mitades de tomate, una rodaja de pepino, tres trozos de queso feta y un par de aros de cebolla. Era horrible. Muy mala relación calidad-precio. Esta no es la primera vez que esto ha sucedido. Evitar a toda costa. Caro, la comida es de escasa calidad.

Soy nuevo a Bristol y asumido este lugar abrió sus puertas recientemente. Personal parecía un poco frenético y no especialmente simpático. Pensé que debe ser su primera semana como lo que parecían un poco estresados. Gran variedad de sándwiches y me pareció que los precios estaban bien. Mi pollo y bacon era buena pero realmente especiado y.

Very poor customer service, staff very dismissive on entry. None of the staff preparing food were wearing gloves or tongs...disgusting. Food very poor for the price paid. Artificial turkey slices given instead of fresh turkey and half the salad ingredients were out of stock. Order was also not correct, missing ingredients. Food was for staff at a large office in the centre of Bristol but we will not be ordering from Philpotts again.

Utterly overpriced for at best very average food. Staff are ok but the place gets chaotic at busy times, and don't go near to their closing time because you're made to feel as if you are keeping them back.The trouble is that they don't have much competition nearby, otherwise they might up their game.

A polite, clean and wonderful place that made you feel a regular on your first visit. I arrived close to closing time, not a problem for the staff.Good food selection, tasty and efficient service. I would use more if I lived locally to Bristol. A must for good food at reasonable prices.

Just eaten possibly the worst bacon sandwich I have ever had. The bacon was cold and virtually tasteless. I really wish that there was some competition for this branch of Phillpotts but sadly they more or less have a monopoly at 8 o’clock in the morning. The only good thing I can say is that the lady taking the money was very pleasant. You may ask why I didn’t take it back, I was hungry and on my way to catch a train!

Having visited Philpotts numerous times (As it is located around the corner from where I work) I felt compelled to write a review. I dont like to give poor ratings- but this place really deserves it! it is so badly run and chaotic. There is no logic to the queueing system- you seem to have to queue up in multiple places, which is so time consuming and non-sensical. I have visited for breakfast on a few occasions, and having queued up to get a bacon sandwich- I then had to queue again elsewhere to pay- but the staff on the tills where also doing hot drinks, which took ages, so by the time I had paid, my bacon was cold and slimy.The food itself isnt bad- they do a decent lunch deal with sandwich, snack and drink for around £4, but often you cant get to the pre-made sandwiches, as all the different queues make it impossible to get to the far corner of the shop where they are stored.I would highly recommend not bothering with Philpotts until all the chaos is sorted out- but dont hold your breath, it has gotten worse over the years, not better.

I walken in just after 12, no soup ready, no pre-prepared sandwiches ready, tills broken and only 2 staff taking the money, no structure to the process, queue was building up nicely for ensuing chaos. The staff just shrug when challenged, it's a mess.

I do think in all the years I have been on trip advisor I have ever been anywhere so awful. Service is beyond terrible. Went in this morning to get some breakfast to take away. Lovely 'breakfast board' by the hot food counter tells you what is available. I asked for the advertised cheese and ham croissant. The lady behind the counter asked me what that was?!! Then when I pointed out it was advertised she went behind the scenes for a minute only to return saying they don't do them! Then asked for marmite on toast and made the mistake of not watching it being made. Discovered when I got to work it was marmalade which I don't like so ended up throwing it away! Queues are crazy, and I just can't put into writing how bad the service feels. I am even more compelled to the write this to warn future customers of this place by the fact that my husband (who works around the corner) has said everyone talks about how terrible it is and yet they've done nothing about it. I can't stand the fact they must know how terrible it is here but greed prevails as they're in such a great location - people are coming in whatever. Terrible.

Very handy as it is right next to the place work.. Having said that.. I will be giving it a miss going forward as it is such a shame that the management and the employees are not really bothered about the hygiene in this place... Every time you go in the there is one person at least not wearing gloves... Truly disgusting as the same person keeps on wiping his hands on his trousers ... Management doesn't see this inappropriate and states that UK law doesn't require staff to wear gloves when in contact with ready to eat food... Disappointing!

The place is packed during the weekday lunchhour, serving salads and customisable sandwiches made to order. The prices are comparable to London though, and you can get better quality meals at a trendy cafe just down the road...

Well, contrary to a number of reviews on here, I had a New York Deli sandwich and it was very good. I also had an Americano coffee and would rate that as OK. I'd certainly come back and recommend for a sandwich.

I ordered an egg mayonnaise and tomato baguette. When I got back to the office I realised they had forgotten to put in the tomato, also no salt and pepper. I would have gone back to complain but with the staff being so unfriendly and slow didn't bother. I will avoid this place in future.

Not impressed with the unhygienic way the fillings are all put into sandwiches/wraps & salads by hand ie. none of the servers were wearing plastic gloves which is unacceptable so I didn't have anything from that counter. Chose hot soup which wasn't cheap[

The sandwiches are very nice and I like that they wear gloves when they make them. They have a wide range of interesting ingredients and it all looks clean and appetising. However it can get very busy and it feels rather claustrophobic and unsure of where to stand or queue. Overall would recommend if looking to grab lunch in the immediate area.

The only reason people go here is because there's nothing better near by.Your trapped into crap choice.Someone buy this place and make it so people want to get their work lunch from there out of choice rather then necessity.This place makes food a chore rather than an inspiration.

Odd set up in the Victoria St store. You have to go to different counters to order your porridge or bacon sandwich to the coffee counter. Don't do what we did by getting a coffee and paying for it only to buy a porridge and then have to go back to the coffee counter to pay for it. Really disappointed in the porridge - very bland. Decent coffee which tasted better as the Barclays Rewards app offers it for free.

Over the past week I have bought the "breakfast deal" each morning. The experience has become increasingly frustrating culminating today in a decision not to bother going back. The coffee and sandwiches are fine, not the best quality but reasonable value for money. The problem is the lady taking the money. She really could not care less about being pleasant or helpful. My request for a bag to carry the coffee and sandwiches was met each day with a blank incredulous state and then the bag was shoved at me. I then had to juggle with my purse in order to put the items in the bag whilst she stood there with a bored expression. The staff in Philpotts at Temple Quay need some training and an attitude change.

Very disappointed. All around the shop counters are A4 size signs encouraging customers to take their £8 meal deal - baguette, slice of cake & a drink. When I got to the till I was informed that one had to purchase the meal deal before hand from the Amazon web site. This was an impulse purchase whilst changing trains at Temple Meads and not something I'd have planned in advance. Since when have you ever purchased a baguette meal deal from Amazon???? God struth what is this world coming to! Otherwise the food was good but the staff seemed new and slow.

Just a great place to get your lunch to take away. Lovely salads and sandwiches. Options also for hot meals. A regular for me when I work in Bristol.

A vast range of lunchtime options from a multitude of sandwich fillings, baked potatoes and soups. All delicious and with a scrupulous attention to food hygiene. Separate staff handle the food/ sandwich making to those working on the tills. If commuting to London on the train I like to get to the station a bit earlier so I can purchase my lunch here !
